If I could give it 6.5 stars, that would be more accurate. This company has rebuilt my deck, painted and installed lighting in our closet, master bedroom, garage and basement. They added a stamped concrete walkway from the driveway to the rear of the home and replaced our sliding patio door with lovely French doors. And the master en suite redo was nothing short of breath-taking. Our very own luxury vacation getaway! We're so pleased with the upgrades to our home. We can't wait to get our home reappraised when we hire this company to remodeling our basement guest bathroom. No other company will work in or on my home again if they can do it! I really am beyond disappointed with the owner and K4T Construction. I was referred to him through a friend of a friend, and we instantly connected. He promised the world, and truly under delivered in every single category. I hired him to do my entire deck, backyard, and entire basement in my town house. We agreed to an amount between $30k and $35k, which he told me was a HUGE discount (which it was). That was in April of 2020. We had some delays in material, which was NOT K4T's fault. It took about 3 months to complete, not because of delays in material, but just because the contractors were not showing up to my house. I kept asking for a contract over and over so we can BOTH know what we agreed to, and the owner kept saying, "Don't worry, I'll take care of you," which made me very uncomfortable. However, since we were getting along SO well and I truly felt like he was looking out for me, I kept saying, "Okay, just send it later." I never got a contract. Ever. While remodeling the bathroom, every single thing they did besides the basics I had to get redone. They redid the paint 2 or 3x (looked terrible), they redid the towel rack 4x (it kept coming out of the wall with one or two small towels), they reset the toilet about 2 or 3x, they had to redo the tiling multiple times in the shower, the shower head had to be redone twice, and was broken and I had to buy the parts, and the smart mirror I bought was hung too high (I found out that was because they didn't bother with the wiring and wired it to the lights, leaving cardboard touching the wires inside the wall). After ALL of that, I did not want them doing interior work again for me. I called my own handyman, he put in a new towel rack and supported it with a 2x4, re wired the entire lighting fixture and smart mirror, reset the toilet (which I almost fell of), and redid the paint (again). That's not to mention that I still have parts of my walls that were not painted properly in my bedroom and the living room area. They did me a "favor" by fixing my main door frame. I actually asked for a new frame, they put wood filler instead and 3 months later that failed and I had to get my guy to fix that as well. After all of that, he billed me for an extra $5k+ saying I kept asking for more and more stuff more than what was agreed upon, which was not true. They were not doing the bare minimum and I just wanted the basics. Even the wiring of my new fan was connected to the light switch, so I wanted to be able to use the fan without turning on every single light in the room. He hired an electrician, (who is great) who was paid less than $1k, and the owner charged me about $5k for that (including the "extra" things, which were the basics). He also promised to install my bathroom door, which he never did. I got my guy to do it. I asked for about $2500 for all the damages which I had to fix, as well as the work he did not complete. He had the audacity to curse me out and tell me I should have told him and he would've fixed it. WHY would I let him back in my house to fix anything after all of this??? He also had the nerve to tell me I actually owed him $1,500, which I did not. Again, if he paid me the $2,500 I spent, minus what I "owed" him, he still would owe me about $1k, which I eventually said "just pay me that," and he said no. Regarding my deck - at first, I was beyond impressed. I specifically remember having 2 to 3 conversations saying that my HOA forced me to have the deck the same color as it was currently. He said, "don't worry, you'll be happy with it. I got you." So I trusted in him. The deck was a darker red/brown, which is the EXACT color he changed it to, except he decided to do ALL the outer trims in a white, which was a clear HOA violation. When I brought it up to him, he told me I never told him, and told me it was an extra $10k to change it. I got so frustrated, and eventually, I said please just get it done, and we split the cost, which I NEVER should have done, because I told him clearly the color had to be the same, which is why the deck was the same color as before (almost identical). I only paid him because he pressured me saying that he had to pay his guys, and they had families, etc., and would not continue without payment. After talking to the Town of Herndon, he needed a permit. He assured me that existing decks don't need permits, which is not true. Regardless, he never got one. The town inspector then walked by during construction, saw them working, and said he had a full conversation directly with the owner of K4T right outside my house. He tried to tell the actual inspector he didn't need a permit, which again, was not true. He ignored the inspectors calls until finally, in February/March of 2021 (yes, you heard that date right) he finally decided to go through the permit process because the Town of Herndon sent him a legal letter saying they'd fine him and continue to fine him, then take his license away... can't write everything.. read more

Complete let down. Company referred to us by a good friend so we had high hopes that the company would be a good fit for our deck project as well as other home improvement efforts we planned for the year. They came, completed a walkthrough, shared the drawings and estimate. But, when we said we wanted to get started, they completely went missing! Calls and messages went unreturned, when I reached out to the initial estimator he promised to have the office manager call me (Ms. Tiffany),but to no avail. Obviously, this review is not related to the quality of work but if customer service is this disorganized well I guess it's a sign. Disappointed because I truly believe in supporting black owned businesses, but what can you do. And it's even worse that they came highly recommended....total shock. read more

I called this company over 4 weeks ago. Kevin came to give me an estimate to enclose my deck. He wasted 30 min of my time and bragged about his many MBAs, his annual income, and his great accountant. I waited 3 weeks and didn't hear anything back from him. Last week, I called and left a message and haven't heard anything back yet.
