I'm borrowing a friend's car while in the DFW area. I noticed there were several things that needed to be fixed and she was past due on the Mercedes-Benz Service. I researched several places and it became such a chore. I'm a proactive type of person vs. reactive and wanted everything checked and serviced at a reasonable and fair price. With AI and Google is becoming increasingly more difficult to get scammed. I didn't do what I usually do with requesting the old parts that were removed from the car but I figured with the paperwork and warranty that I'd be okay. Overall it was a Fantastic experience. I was on the fence with two of the repairs and the discussions I had with them, I chose not to do one of them since I'm not the owner of the car. They explained it could wait age I cos give her the option to move forward with the others. Yes, I paid a pretty penny but they were fair, fast, and detailed. K3S was fair, they beat the price of my other quotes and they got everything done extremely fast. They also identified several other easy fix issues and didn't over charge to take care of them. Took my car in a while back for a clutch issue (clutch wouldn't disengage), they claimed my clutch was on backwards and fly wheel was damaged. (I had just installed the clutch and had certified technicians help guide me on the install). I just wanted my car to work properly so I told them to proceed. Got the car back and it drove alright for a week until the clutch wouldn't disengage again. Took it to another shop in GP ,where the car was stuck, and they found a nylon nut on the end of my slave cylinder. read more

BMW's require well trained technicians. This place does not use certified techs and cuts corners with poor quality after market parts. When peeling back the onion I discovered they were using cheap Chinese oil filters. Additionally the tech did not top off my oil the full amount and I brought the car back, the tech was unable to even read my oil meter which is electronic and can be easily found on the car dash. I also did a transmission fluid flush. A few weeks later I got the transmission warning light. Brought the car back and the techs claimed the transmission may need to be completely changed out. 45K miles and a new tranny after a fluid flush? No way. I would avoid this place. Overall a cheap place that cuts corners. read more

Flew into DAL from SC to buy a car around the corner from their shop..had talked on the phone with Eric (owner) & Jon. It was a Volvo and I need someone to do PPI (pre purchase inspection) before I closed the deal and drove 1,000 miles back to SC. These guys are great, they are gearheads and love to share years of auto knowledge. They have three racing vehicles in the shop in various state of completion, they love performance exotics but understand daily drivers too. No arrogance here, just plain car talk and they really take their inspection duties seriously and will look out for you. In my case the dealership had taken the car to a quick oil place and resulted in oil leak, which could have been a show stopper on way home, plus showed me where substandard paint repair had been performed...you will get a four page report with pics, all for less than 150. Eric always takes care of my cars whenever they need regular maintenance or some additional work done. Gotten him to do work on my BMW and Benz multiple times (for years) from oil changes to installing aftermarket parts to alignment etc. Always look forward to taking my car to him and talking about our future car goals. Brought in my SUV for a short and a problem starting. Explained the history related to the starting issues saying "I think it needs a new Head Gasket, and to check to see if the head is warped after overheating." They fixed the short (Thanks!) and told me I needed a water pump, radiator and to replace my Timing Belt Sensor. Made zero sense as there were no issues (Functional and working) with them in the minutes before the short, and in my mind 'maybe' a short might have affected the sensor? They were insistent and argued that the compression tests were OK so the head gasket was OK, so I agreed to replacing the sensor for $300. Seemed O.K. until the following day and it wouldn't start at all, worse now than before. When I called them about it, stressing that the dealership had put a scope into the spark plug area and said that there was coolant in the spark plug chamber, and that it was puking white smoke (water vapor) when it started before... he argued that they had checked the compression and that it was fine, the problem was the sensor. He insisted that I bring it back so he could re-run the compression tests himself to prove to me they were correct. While it was in their shop, the engine fuse box cover went missing (presumably when they were working on the short). When I asked them about it their first response was that I had lost it, I had it somewhere, before looking, before asking the mechanic, they were immediately on the defensive. Who gives a hoot about blame when you need a car fixed? Just FIX THE CAR. They were more interested in covering their bum than fixing the problem. Fuse box cover missing is not a big deal, but to immediately blame the car owner before looking for it? Had they looked, said sorry, it's gone... no big deal. I found another one for under $30. But to just jump to say I took it before even looking for it? Something is fishy here. The mechanic jumped to illogical conclusions blaming the water pump, radiator and a sensor code error without listening to a single thing I said about the known issues, symptoms and what the dealership said. I specifically said "I think it needs a new Head Gasket, and to check to see if the head is warped is warped." They wrote it down. But disagreed with what common sense dictated and insisted it was non related issues that were fully functional were the issue and needed to be replaced. Bottom line, the mechanic goofed, he misdiagnosed the problem and lost my engines fuse box cover. I was charged $300 for needless work and the work I ASKED to have done which was much more expensive (Over $1,400) was ignored. A company in the business of fixing cars, that argues against fixing a customers car and argues that their misdiagnosis was correct even though the problem was not corrected... boggles my brain. I literally wanted to spend $1,400 just to see if that was the issue... and they were more concerned with absolving themselves of blame for a $300 misdiagnosis which I was not asking for any compensation for. Sure, would have been nice if they gave me a small discount, but that was never the issue. I never asked for any refund or compensation, I asked them to fix the car, I told them what the dealership had said and recommended, and explained that in my limited mind the first thing to check or replace was the head gasket. They disagreed and I took it to another shop to have the problem corrected. But on the plus side, they were very nice and professional. I am sure they are great people, just not the best auto mechanics. When a customer calls back and says it still won't start. Why, and who cares about anything but resolving the issue? "We were right, bring it in and let us prove to you we were correct." "But it won't start, the problem still remains." "No, your engine is OK, bring it in and I'll run the tests myself to prove to you it's OK." "it's not OK, it won't start." ??? read more
