I'm extremely disappointed with the lack of customer service and communication during my recent visit to your San Diego location. After parking, completing registration, and waiting in line (10+ mins), I was finally informed--after a long delay--that my son wouldn't be able to ride for at least "a couple of hours." At no point was there signage or staff to communicate the wait time, leaving us standing in line with no information. This lack of transparency and service made for a frustrating and unacceptable experience. I lost a good 30 minutes of my day, and on top of that, I had to tell my 7 year old that we could not ride a go kart today and left extremely disappointed your location. Which by the way, is not easy to get to and it is definitely not in the friendliest part of town. A long drive, a long wait, indifferent customer service and no go kart riding made for a forgettable experience. I hope you take this feedback seriously and make necessary improvements to ensure future visitors receive clear communication and better service. My friend and I visited for his 26th birthday and we were only able to make it during the last hour they were open on Thursday night. It was my first time go-kart racing and all the staff from the front desk, to the track were so kind and helpful: answering all my questions, directing us, and repeating certain instructions when I needed clarification. I wish I could have asked for all of their names but thank you to everyone at the Main St. location! I will be bringing more friends and coming back soon! read more

Such a fun activity! I came with a large group from work and we had a great time. Even with 40 of us, the staff managed everything very efficiently and safely and made sure everyone raced at their comfort level. A ticket gets you two races: a qualifier and a final. They give you a printout of all of your laps and email it to you as well if you want, which is cool to see. They have a small area off to the side with basic food options and a limited beverage selection. Highly recommend for some adrenaline! read more

Came here during Comic Con weekend for the Sonic x K1 Speed popup. The decor of K1 Speed was all decked out in Sonic themed decorations from giant characters to Sonic merchandise available for purchase to arcade games to themed racing helmets (!!) and even themed foods and drinks. The pop up started at 10 am and I got there on a Sunday at 9:45 and the line was only about 15-20 people ahead of me. If you have never been here before, you will need to register for a racing "license" prior to your first race; this is $8. The price of our race was somewhere between $28 and $30 (though I think this was discounted due to the pop up). You do have to wear a balaclava under the racing helmets but once again, I am unsure if this is true all the time or just for the themed helmets during the pop up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the balaclavas had 3 themes left by the time I got there, Sonic, Amy, and Knuckles. I, of course, got Knuckles. There's about 10 people that race at the same time and I did enjoy that they are strict about their safety regulations (as they should) regarding minimum height for racers as well as ensuring everyone is properly strapped in and wearing their helmets appropriately. You are forbidden from hitting other racers as this isn't bumper cars and you can be asked to leave if you break this rule (as they should). Overall, a fun Sonic themed racing experience even though this isn't an activity I would normally complete otherwise. read more

A group of co-workers and I went to K1 Speed a few weeks ago for a team building events. I've been to location and Orange County before many years ago and things are still roughly the same but they're definitely a few things are different now. We had our meeting in the meeting space that was available. Afterwards we were able to drive around the track. We opted for the promotion that included 2 sessions, head sock, and a t-shirt. overall, I was very fun. I think I was pretty excited about the t-shirt at the end. The team did a great job explaining what all the different flags and the different signs meant. And with the technology that they have their able to track what everyone's speed and how they did on laps. Even though I was one of those slower ones, it was still a lot of fun. There is a concession stand that they have that includes a lot of different types of beverages and snacks and they also had a full menu of different hot food items. It was a cool event and I was really glad to have been able to enjoy it with my team read more

I showed up with a buddy around 7PM on a Thursday. Christian helped me through the registration process and me (having raced in amateur series a few life times ago) peppered him with questions about a myriad of things in order to beat my very competitive friend. Christian was a delight to speak with, calmly, coolly, and confidentially showing me the fastest, and safest way around the track. I've paid my fair share for race track instruction by trained professionals, and Christians professionalism, enthusiasm, and calm demeanor would fit right in with any professional race instructor I've ever met. Took my son for his 54th birthday and found out it's FREE on your birthday. If was reasonable for the amount of laps 10-13 depending on how fast you drive. The electric go carts are amazingly fast and especially if you're turning 80 years old in one month. I'll be back again for my 80th birthday on 9/29/25. Had a birthday party for my daughter here over the weekend. It was busy. If you want to do a party here you will have fun. However, bring your own food and refreshments as their food is horrible. Don't get me wrong the staff is friendly and pleasant, but the food options stink. Unless you like chicken nuggets heated up and thrown into a Hawaiian roll gourmet. Tater tots were half cooked. Pizza is rubber. Overall, food definitely too pricey for what you get. Bring your own supplies. Then go have fun! I would poop here again... certain conditions may apply. read more

Went to K1 on Saturday and was unfortunately injured during the race. Someone was driving a bit recklessly, came from behind, and clipped my tail so i spun out. The staff stopped the race and then resumed it once i had turned around. They never checked on me or asked if i was okay, or pulled the person who clipped me off the course. I get that this happens, we sign waivers for a reason, but staff totally could have been like, "hey, you good?" because i was very much not good and have visible bruising from the impact today. I came to K1 Speed not really knowing what to expect, I hadn't been go-kart racing in years, but as soon as I got on the track, it instantly reminded me of SpeedZone from back in the day! The difference is that these karts are way faster and the whole experience feels upgraded. From the moment I walked in, the energy was high, the music was pumping, and the staff made everything super easy to understand. The safety briefing was quick but clear. It's such an adrenaline rush flying around those corners and seeing your lap times pop up on the screen. The staff were awesome and friendly. The place was clean, organized, and everything felt well-maintained. I also loved how they track your results, it makes it way too easy to get competitive. read more

I'm at K1 Chula Vista right now. Checked In at 2:50 and we are still waiting. No one said the wait time will be over an hour. I asked the guys by the tracks and at 3:20pm he said 45mins. I checked with lady up front and at 4:10 she said another 30min. The least they could have done is told us there is a wait so we could have come back or played a game or something. Horrible services. I am so disappointed. We came here for my daughter birthday and here we are still waiting almost 2 hours now. I would have made a fuss if my kids weren't here and if it wasn't my daughter birthday. Solid location. Went on a Monday shortly after opening and did not have to wait long to get called up for our first race. There is currently a 3 races for $50 special on Mondays which is a pretty solid deal. Compare that to prepurchasing two races online would be $57. They have different deals for different weekdays so I would definitely recommend doing some research beforehand to get your moneys worth. These karts seem to be new top of the line karts. I have been to a few other K1 locations and these were the nicest I've been able to race on. They seem to be from a different manufacturer and even have an LCD screen on the dash. The steering is VERY stiff on these karts and your hands will likely be sore at the end of your race, not sure if it is by design or these karts just need to be broken in. The staff do well at monitoring the actual racing and issuing blue flags. The races I did had a few first time racers and they did well explaining the rules of the track and etiquette. Contact with other karts or the walls is in the nature of go karting so do not expect to come in and not get a few bumps here and there. I did not get a chance to try the food. There is an arcade to the back corner of the lounge but it is a pretty small selection of games. It provided a nice break while waiting for the next race. This location has a nice little collection of Motorsport memorabilia as well, I was a big fan of the Jeff Gordon display car as soon as you walk in. Location has its own dedicated parking lot with plenty of spaces. If you come on a weekend or maybe even a weekday night please be prepared to wait. If it is busy enough you might have to wait a few races before being called up. Your waiting time largely depends on other people and how quickly they can get through their races. read more

I like when I can race and my kids can race here, but their wait times are absolutely atrocious. Everytime I bring my kids, either the kids, the adults, or both are a two hour wait. I honestly regret buying in bulk because I can never use it. And the kids are so upset everytime this happens. I visited K1 Speed Indoor Go Karting while on vacation in San Diego, and it was by far the worst customer service experience I've had anywhere. I was made to wait nearly 3 hours with no race. When I finally went to ask about the delay, they told me I wasn't even charged for a race even though I had already paid around $60. Instead of fixing the mistake, they tried to charge me again. To make things worse, one of the staff members a guy with glasses and long hair was extremely rude and dismissive. I've had great experiences throughout San Diego, but this place was a big disappointment. If you're looking for fun with good service, I suggest avoiding K1 Speed. I won't be coming read more

Drive the extra distance to Pamona raceway and drive NASCAR. We drove over an hour to come here and with just 3 people we were told our wait would be 2 to 3 hours. No way to know before we left. No way to register for races online. No way to book time. No way they get my business. ​The girl tried to find a way, but this was not the first time she had to deal with this. I was really excited for this experience because I love go-karts, but it was unfortunately really confusing and not very fun as a result. This was my first time at "adult go-karts" ha -- I'm used to the less high powered go kart tracks. I was excited to try this because I have always loved go-kart racing. I immediately noticed the people working here are all sort of apathetic though. The cashiers didn't make it clear how to check in or pay, and more importantly, the people giving the safety and racing instructions just mumbled through them without making sure the entire party was there or able to hear. As a result, most of my party didn't really hear what the flags meant or how to operate the car or anything. Nobody wants to be the guy that has to have everything repeated so it felt like we had to just figure it out. I thought this was just a fluke but the second time we raced a different person gave mumbled quiet instructions the exact same way! A microphone here would work wonders. I also wondered if it was my issue (I'm hard of hearing) but my whole party said they didn't hear either. Then when I was getting into my car a guy was trying to adjust something on my kart and got irritated with me because I couldn't hear what he was saying (he was asking me to move my feet I guess?) I'm hard of hearing and I had the helmet on so it was just an uncomfortable situation where I felt like I'd done something wrong. I still have no idea what he wanted me to move. Having no idea why things were happening was kind of a theme of the night. It turns out you get a qualifying race and then the real race. I finally found this out at the end because again, couldn't hear anything. During the qualifying race I was trying to maintain my position by speeding up as people tried to pass and they showed me a "let pass" sign. I was confused because it's a race but figured I was missing something so I just tried to let people pass. After, someone said that was because it was qualifying and in the real race it'd be fine to try to keep from being passed (by going fast! Not by just blocking people with your kart, to be clear, which was not what I was doing). But in the real race they kept shaking the sign at me again. I would understand this if I were going slower than the passer but just blocking them, but what was actually happening is I'd be going fast and see someone catching up and just speed up so they wouldn't even get close -- only to see the "let pass" sign. Meanwhile even though there's a no bumping rule other people in my party were ramming through to get ahead of others and no sign for them lol. After this I just gave up and laid off the accelerator and let everyone pass me because I couldn't figure out another way not to get the sign wagged at me. Basically I felt like everyone else got to actually race and I have no idea why I didn't. It was so expensive too, just to have a really crappy experience. Definitely won't be back. read more

Went here for the first time yesterday. The customer service was fantastic as they were very communicative about how long it would be for the weight and they were almost to the minute when we were going to be able to race. Something to know if you're coming and you plan on drinking, you will get a wristband. You're only allowed two drinks when you get in the building before you drive. They do have a little area where you could buy food and play video games and pool. Although the pizza look good at the other table, we ordered chicken strips, which was almost like hard biscuits wrapped around cut chicken breast. I would not recommend these. When you first get in, you sign a waiver on their touch screens. I found it very considerate that they provide keyboards attached to the screens, because my friends appeared to be touch screen challenged. After you sign the waiver you pay at the register. If you've never been, you have to pay for a membership that lasts all year, it includes the balaclavas (the head cover). If you didn't bring your own helmet or your balaclava, you can purchase one there too. You can purchase how many races, they'll group you up with who you came with too. They'll explain any questions you have at the register. Also, put a wrist band on you to show you can't drink and drive. While you're waiting to get your names called over the speaker, their little arcade is great. The claw machine is not rigged, so we won some cute little toys. When your name is called, they explain all of the flags and any questions you have about being in the track. They'll help you if they see you struggling to put your helmet on or anything. I docked the one star because depending who is running the flags, they wouldn't always pay attention to warning people to let someone pass. It was pretty frustrating when I'm trying to break my record. Some karts have really slidey wheels, fun to drift in but my times were worse. Fun experience though to drift everywhere. But if you're going for your record, pray to the RNG Gods that you don't get super worn out tires. When you're done with a race, they email you the stats/Time/placement. Really fun. We had a very disappointing experience with K1 Speed in San Diego. We first went to the San Diego location with our daughters, excited for a fun day, only to be told after signing in that they had no junior races available because they were fixing the karts. There were no signs anywhere letting visitors know about this, and they still had us sign in, even though it was clear we had kids with us. They told us that the Eastlake location did have junior races and that it would be even more fun because of the Friday night neon lights. We drove there, signed in again, and even started ordering food -- only to be told once again that they also didn't have junior races for the same reason! To make matters worse, the staff at Eastlake were rude and dismissive. It's incredibly frustrating that they don't notify customers on their official website, social media, or even post a simple sign at the entrance. It feels extremely disrespectful of people's time, especially families with young kids who are looking forward to this experience. I feel like a complete idiot coming to your facility and business, giving you my hard earned money when you treat me and all of your customers like idiots. This $7.99 dollar yearly membership is complete extortion, the manager (Erik, pictured below) even had the audacity to compare that fee to that at the DMV. Well let me tell you that there is a huge difference, the DMV utilizes that Driver's License cost to test drivers, to make sure everyone is prepared to get out on the road, what does the $7.99 cover for you? A head wrap? "Access to the track"? Then what else am I there to do but to race? I even brought my own helmet and made no difference. Your manager was a complete jerk when presented with these facts. Train your staff to be empowered, to do whatever it is reasonably needed to have your customers feel like they are valued and had a good time. Your downtown San Diego facility failed completely to do this. Additionally, I brought my GoPro and strapped to it my helmet to document this fun experience with my son, only to be told I can't!! Why!? I asked the employee right before we race and all he could say is that it is policy. Another slap in the face. I get it, your money hungry company wants to corner me into renting your cameras instead. Worse customer service I have experienced in years. No, I do not plan on coming back unless I absolutely have no other choice. Your company really needs to rethink your policies and the way you treat your patrons, I felt like a complete idiot and so did everyone else in my family that day. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Response to K1's response to my review: Yes, your inept Manager Erik regurgitated that exact same list of "values" that this yearly fee provides, but again, not everyone cares or uses any of those "perks", and the fact that it is not optional, creates the real problem that many people see. It feels like your company is just nickel and diming your customers. No one in my group cared to eat your food, none of us could use the "free" birthday race and my son and I had our own helmets. Those head socks that you are "giving" us with the "membership" were unneeded, and the worst part is that they probably cost 10 cents to make. The mention that the yearly fee also gives us access to the racetracks is ridiculous!!! What else am I there to do but to get on the track and race!?!? That comment is simply insulting to read. I also quickly noticed how you did not address or comment on your GoPro policy, further confirming that the rules are simply in place to simply squeeze more money out of your customers. In what way will my GoPro (properly mounted on my personal helmet) affect your business but monetarily? None!! You offer to rent some there but restricting us from using our own to corner us into paying you more money. On top of it all, your business used to allow them as I have other races recorded from years past. Again, your company really needs to re-think your business practices. Empower your team, especially your managers to make smart decisions when it comes to the satisfaction of your clients. I work in customer service, have done so for the past 28 years and know the difference between good and bad client relations. Allow your customers to use their recordings devices if properly and safely secured (to their helmets or chest). Incorporate your "Yearly Membership" fee into your already overpriced rates. Yes, you got an additional $7.99 from me that that day, but it cost your company hundreds of dollars in races that I would have come back to race later this year should I have not felt like a complete idiot by your staff and polices.
