Belmont Park is an iconic tourist stop when in San Diego. The famous Big Dipper rollercoaster has been around for decades and is still a thrill worth trying. Over the past decade arcades, bumper cars, put-put golf and kiddie rides have been added to the beachfront experience as well as a handful of food options. Be prepared to spend some serious money when visiting though, this place is not cheap. Tickets are needed to ride each ride and can be purchased at a stand on either end of the park (under the roller coaster and next to put-put golf). The kiddie rides start around $5/participant and increase from there. Bring your patience, parking is a beast any day or time of the year!
My teen had a blast on the rollercoaster and rides here on Wednesday wristband day. It wasn't crowded at all in the evening when we went, there were no lines, so she went on everything she wanted multiple times. It was a bummer the zip line and beach blaster ride weren't operating. Although we didn't do this, hot tip-buy the wristband at opening and you can use it all day til they close, going back as many times as you wish. This is a must stop at Mission Beach.
Amazing pier. We got mini golf, an arcade, rides, lots of rides, carnival-style games, and a huge pool with obstacle courses. Rock climbing, laser tag, and a beach, among other things. Like uh hell yes! Not to mention delicious food and ice cream and snacks everywhere. Prices are great for a pier, honestly. Most games in the arcade were a dollar to 2 dollars at most, which is low compared to, let's say, Dave & Buster's. Rides were decently priced, but they have all-day passes and even some sunrise deals where you can ride all rides for 40 bucks or so. Parking here does suck; on my last visit, I saw two people almost beat each other up for a parking spot. But other than that, this place is a fun, vibey spot. It's a great hangout spot with your kids, friends or even for date nights. We spent 6 hours here on our last trip, so it was worth it, and we had a blast. Will go again on our next San Diego trip for sure.

Always a fun spot to hang. The beach is just right behind the rides area. It can get crowded, so get there early. This is definitely an all day kind of place. You have the small theme park, beach, stores, and restaurants all near by. We bought wristbands for the kids on Groupon. It included all the rides and the attractions. Zipline was only offered twice with this wristband. But everything else was unlimited. The Plunge area is not included and arcade games are also not included. This place reminded us of the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, but smaller. We would definitely come back!
I bought season passes for my grandkids and I to enjoy as a Christmas present for the year. The gift that keeps on giving in good times and good memories. My four-year-old granddaughter is just learning to ride the rides and she enjoyed the carousel today and the little cars and the pirate playground. The older kids really enjoyed the laser game as well as the mic drop. The ropes course was really crowded today so we hope to do that another day. All in all, it was a really fun day, even though it was quite crowded.
What a cool spot for kids and adults. Rides, games, zip lining and so much more. Right next to the boardwalk and beautiful ocean views and sands. Lots of eateries and shops. Nice day in San Diego. Highly recommended.
Belmont Park is one of those iconic beach places that you see on TV and movies and you're like is it really like that? Yes, yes it is! We picked mission beach specifically to ride the 100 or old roller coaster and we wrre not disappointed. It was $16 for us both to ride 1x each and it was fun. Its old. Its wooden. It creaks. It is worth it! Other attractions at BP looked neat but we specifically came for the coaster. There are tons of food options and some are sut down, some are fast food. Great date day!
After so many years in San Diego I finally visit Belmont Park thanks to a friend from the gym who took me as plus one for her company summer party. Something to consider is the free parking which is located in both sides of the park and it's free for a few hours. That's a plus because it can get very crowded. The park itself is smaller than I thought from the outside. Looks like you will find it very big and plenty of rides. Different attractions. But honestly there are not that many attractions and since I don't enjoy rides, I really like the bumper cars. It was fun and interesting. Yet I find that there are not enough attractions. The bumper cars were very simple in my opinion. The zipper line looks the more attractive item for me. We had all kinds of foods drinks. We've got wine beer and there were so many different spaces to eat. I had a blast. I felt like a child for one day and I really encourage you to go and celebrate the 1001 birthday party of this amusement park by the beach.
As someone from LA visiting SD, I would compare this to Santa Monica pier lol, but more fun! There was a lot of activities/ rides. I went on the roller coaster and it was really fun!! It was $8 to ride. I love that the parking here is free! T
A great, classic old style amusement park!! This year, Belmont Park is celebrating its 100 year anniversary. We were here during Memorial Day weekend, so this amusement park along with nearby Mission Beach was jam packed!! Plenty of rides, food, games, and activities going on here. We rode the roller coaster here long ago, and yes, it's the classic wooden style coaster. This place is just a good time overall, whatever you do here!!
I grew up going to Belmont Park. It looks a little different than it did back then. We enjoyed ourselves. They had their Christmas decor out and it made for some great photo ops. We stopped in the arcade and played awhile. The arcade is pretty much a rip off because anything worth using the tickets on requires thousands of tickets. It would be more affordable to go to the store and buy what you want. I still love Belmont park. The beach is right there and parking is free.
This place is so cute! Can't believe I didn't come here when I lived in San Diego. I never got to try any of the rides, but my friends and I did an escape room at Escapology. Parking was challenging to find, but we managed to snag a spot in the main entrance lot. With a map, Belmont Park is fairly easy to navigate. Or just wander. Most of my 5-star rating is for the "spicy" dole whip we rewarded ourselves with after making a successful escape. We sat at one of the public tables and people-watched as we hung out. I'm sure everyone's experience of Belmont Park has changed over the years, especially for those that grew up in the area. But I had a blast overall!

Belmont Park sits along the Mission Beach boardwalk, close to everything, with parking lots nearby. It's a fun tourist attraction, and we especially enjoy the mini golf and pineapple Dole Whip. I will be honest about why this stood out. Good service has felt rare lately. We have sat through plenty of counters and plenty of meals where people barely looked up, where the smile was forced, and where the tip went out anyway. Ronan was the opposite of that. He was helpful, patient, and genuinely glad to be helping a family get their day started right. He put a smile on my daughter's face, my son's face, my wife's face, and mine. That is not a small thing. To the management at Belmont Park: Ronan deserves recognition, and he deserves a real shot at interviewing for whatever position he is aiming for. Whatever his vision is here, I believe he will excel at it. People like Ronan are the reason a family comes back. Thank you, Ronan. We appreciated it. read more
A cute little family-friendly place next to a beautiful beach! After walking around the beach for a while, we decided to walk around Belmont Park to see what it was all about. It was a summer Thursday and the place was packed with kids and their parents, all having a blast. There was a zip line, bumper cars, an arcade, a giant pirate-themed play place - heaven on earth to rambunctious little people! The whole place was cutesy - beach themed photo ops everywhere. They also had plenty of "fair food" for those looking for a junky snack. My only complaint was that there wasn't enough shaded areas to sit in and enjoy a meal. Additionally, they didn't really have any vegetarian food options. We were starving (our main reason for checking out this place) and found cheese pizza slices as the only vegetarian friendly option. Seemed quite odd considering how popular vegetarianism has become, especially in places like California.. If you have kids or are just looking to let your own inner-child run wild, this place is worth checking out! read more

A fun day in the sun. This place is iconic to Missin beach. I spent the day trying treats and taking in the sights. I'm sad the roller-coaster was under construction yet I understand maintenance is needed. Games, rides qnd treats this place is a perfect place for family fun or a cozy date. Paired with the boardwalk and beach this place is picturesque. read more

Where do I start? I show up to purchase wristbands for myself and my 10-year-old and the cashier was very aggressive and intimidating. He shouted out the total for two wristbands and I let him know there was a different price online. He shouted out to purchase the wristbands online for that price. I walked away purchased the wristbands went back to pick up the physical wristbands. He scanned the barcode and put the wristbands on our wrist. And then with a smile said the list of rides that were closed. And then said " we are short staffed and due to that we do not have employees at the rides once they get here at 12:30 then you'll be able to get on the rides" I looked at my 10-year-old and said OK we'll go walk the beach and get a bite to eat until they open up. Guess what the staff never got there! Honestly, he thought it was funny when he told me that we weren't going to be able to get on rides until the other staff got there. There were a few rides like the mini dipper and the carousel. But who buys wristbands to get on a couple rides and then get on the bumper cart. If that's the case then I would've just bought individual tickets. LET YOUR GUEST KNOW AHEAD OF TIME IF YOU ARE SHORT STAFFED AND THE PARK WILL NOT BE RUNNING AS USUAL!! I had to keep looking for staff to let us on rides and then even then I wasn't able to get on every ride. I paid for a wrist band for myself and my daughter thinking that we were going to be able to enjoy the day but we were not. I do want to point out that I'm a single mom and low income and this was supposed to be something amazing for us. $100 to Belmont Park is absolutely nothing but for me it is. And just FYI, I a lot of people kept leaving the park upset. But for them, they didn't purchase wristbands. We waited till after 5 PM hoping that as the shift changed employees would come and open up all of the rides, but that never happened. I was hoping to get my money back for the wristband, but because the employee at the counter was so aggressive I was honestly afraid to go up and ask for a refund. I'm hoping Belmont Park will make this right and provide my daughter and I with an opportunity to return to Belmont Park at no charge to us and be able to get on the rides. read more
Still an awesome time at this small amusement park. This is a family friendly place, lots of shops, lots of food, an ice cream spot, an arcade, zip line, rides for little & big kids alike & much more. They are right next to the beach. Our family loves visiting here, we will definitely be back. read more

This week we visited Disneyland, California adventure, Sea World and the Safari Park. Well, let me tell you, this was the hit of the week! Which was unexpected. Belmont Park is celebrating its 100 year anniversary, Disney it's 70th and Sea World it's 60th. Belmont park is the original theme park. It has great rides, free parking, and solid food choices. When you look around you can see this is where California Adventure drew its inspiration. My nieces loved the rides! We got the wrist band, which is the best deal for teens and tweens that love rides. I felt the cost, wait time and ride satisfaction was the best for them here. Favorite rides are the giant dipper, zip line, beach blaster. But they are all good! Of the six parks we visited this week. This was a favorite (#1 ranked) with 1/3 of our group, everyone else had it a #2 or #3. Overall a solid choice and a winner! Good value, good rides, great family experience. read more
Accidentally stumbled upon Belmont Park after doing an escape room right next door, and I'm so glad we did! It immediately reminded me of the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, just on a slightly smaller scale. There are plenty of fun rides to choose from and a great mix of food options to snack on while you wander around. It's a charming little spot with a laid-back vibe--perfect for an unexpected detour. This was a fun throwback. It reminds me of Santa Monica Pier or Coney Island. It's a cute boardwalk with a cool arcade, decent food, and fund rides and attractions. Food - they have hot dog on a stick, Wetzel's pretzels, burgers, and pizza. We had pizza which was two BIG slices and a drink for $16. And we also had hamburgers and fries about the same price. The hamburger and fries were really delicious. *tip* if you can eat or will eat a plain cheeseburger get the kids one. It's the same Size and $5 less. Rides/attractions - you can put tickets individually in the amount for the rides you want to ride or you can get a season pass OR you can get a wristband for the day. We did the wristband and I totally was the best deal for us at least. In person it's $65, the online price is $55 and you can buy online at funex for $49. It covers all 14 rides as many times as you want, 2 trips on the zip line, and as many rounds of these attractions : Mini Golf, Laser Tag, Sky Ropes, Lasermaze, The Rockwall, Coconut Climb and Xanadu 7D Theater. While we were there we didn't personally have any issues with staff or any safety concerns. It was relatively clean as well. It was also nice that you could walk two minutes down to the beach boardwalk and be on the sand! There's a beach rental shop other restaurants and breweries out there as well. Oh yeah one note, parking IS AWFUL. if that deters you, don't even try to go. You'll have to circle for quite some time. read more
October kids are free with a paying adult. My daughter friend had her bday party there. Invited us. We had so much fun!!!! Totally worth it!!!! Our party tried the funnel cake delish, corn dog pretty good, pizza was so good, churros are Americanized. Hard find a good chorro. Milkshake was delish. Only has a few bites of each thing but it filled me up for the whole day. Lots of water, take a bottle and they let you fill up at the soda fountain. I recommend sticking to water. Stay hydrated. Bathrooms were decent given the crowd. - [x] roller coaster 3x amazing views - [x] beach blaster(airscrambler)4x everyone's fave - [x] tiki typhoon(gravitron) not as fun as it use to be - [x] flipOut 3x get ready for a head scrabbler - [ ] 3 different drop rides (zero gravity, not for large busts nor bellies. - [ ] ship wrecked, (CLOSED ) the rope pull part was open... again not for large busts nor bellies. - [x] mic drop)2x fun kiddie version. - [x] 2 bumper cars (Krazy Cars, always fun - [x] Overdrive, very difficult to climb in and get seated for an adult thats not fit lol but I did it. Fun to go in circles. - [x] tilt-a-whirl, hilarious!!! - [x] dip n' dive kiddie ride but funny for adults - [x] Carousel, fun. Interesting character on it - [ ] 2 little rides (wave jumper, not even trying to fit lol - [ ] speedway) not even trying to fit lol - [ ] Mini Golf. The upgrades have been amazing, I really enjoyed the golf course. The ride lines weren't longer than 5 min which was great. Got the wrist band from Groupon for a deal. Cost around $42 with the discount. My favorite is the rock climbing wall and it's even better now. read more

The fair without the fair prices lol. Belmont Park is a cool place that sits right in front of Mission Beach and open all year round. It has a handful of food places to eat, an arcade, laser tag, wall climb. Want a hotdog, corn dog or pretzel? Want a $7.00 & not a fair $16 funnel cake? Want chicken strips and fries? Dubai chocolate? Need a bikini or a surfboard? Bring the kids and come check out Belmont Park and have a blast!!! Who doesn't like a great beach day and fair fun!!! FYI Busier during the summer time. I highly recommend to check this out if in San Diego. read more

Yes, but it gets pitch black sometimes during the winter and there's a few homeless and shady folks roaming.
Are the rides open in January/February or just over the summer?
This will be a two part review and will check at the park with the high surf they have been having in the beach area ill find out what rides are open.
Are pups allowed in? Obviously not on rides but just to walk around?
Yes ... must be leashed at all times.
We were considering buying a Ride and Play combo wristband through Local Flavor, and the offer said "premium" rides not included but I couldn't find anywhere that listed what specifically were the "premium" rides. Are bumper cars/big dipper premium?
As far as I know, the Premium attractions are the Zipline and Go Karts. Bumper cars and Giant Dipper are included on the daily wristband.
Is Big Dipper Open? I am planning on going next weekend & I have been looking on the website for all the information but it doesn't state the ride is open under the schedule with all the other rides.

Walking, and enjoying the sunset.. There's plenty of bike rentals around Belmont Park.. I think they have live Dj on Friday's as well

Yes, they usually do but I'm not sure if they have them all of the time.
When you get the unlimited ride wristband is it specific for that day (ie particular color etc) or can you activate/use it any day?
When purchasing an unlimited ride wristband it will be given on the day of arrival and have a specific scan code only valid for that day's use. Thank you for your inquiry!
