I'm writing this review to detail my experience with Khalif installing a Ring camera and transformer upgrade. Khalif began the day with installation of the transformer, which went ok. Before installation of the Ring camera, I told him I was doing some research online the night before and cameras were recalled because some people were using the long wood screws instead of the short security screws to secure the bottom piece, which can lead to fires. When it comes time to install the camera, he uses the long wood screws and we see smoke coming out of the Ring camera. And sure enough, he used the wrong screws, even after I warned him. Also, there are several points in the install instructions that warn not to use the wood screws, and instead, to use the included special screwdriver with the security screws. He obviously did not read the instructions. The doorbell seemed to be functioning ok, but my intuition told me to contact Ring, which I'm glad I did because they informed me the doorbell is now compromised and a fire risk. The attached image show that some caustic material leaked out. After speaking to Amazon, they agreed to replace the doorbell free of charge (thank you Amazon!) and I contacted him around 4pm that it had arrived, and he said he can stop by the next morning. Someone from Ring contacted me and said they were very concerned that smoke came out of the device and I need to replace it ASAP, as this is a big safety risk. They guided me through the install and I hardwired it myself. I can't believe I paid full price for an install that I had to finish myself, not to mention my time that was wasted. I needed an outdoor outlet installed and Khalif gave a competitive quote and the work was completed satisfactorily and on time but scheduling and follow up is a nightmare. I would not recommend him if you have to take time off or if it matters when the contractor shows up. On the initial installation I texted to confirm he would show up at 9am the next morning since my schedule is tight with other obligations. He did not reply back. The next morning I texted again an hour before he was supposed to show up but no answer again so I called. He said that he couldn't make it at 9am anymore and that he would show up around 11 or noon. At noon he showed up and started work but didn't have all the materials he needed so he left to pick up more materials as his brother continued the work. Over an hour later he comes back with the materials and after a little more work they go to lunch. They didn't get back from lunch for over two hours which wasn't a big deal but I had to pick up my kids at a certain time and the extended lunch made the already late start even later so I had to make last minute plans to get someone else to pick my kids up. At the end of the day they finished and cleaned up properly but it took a lot of stress and effort on my part. A couple months later my GFCI switch that they installed tripped for no reason. I texted Khalif and he responded right away that it could be defective and if it happens again he would swap it out. A couple months later it did trip again so I texted him about it. He called back and said he would have someone schedule me in during the week. I got no calls that week and waited a second week but still no calls. I texted again and he said he could come out on a Friday. Thursday night I text him to confirm but he doesn't reply. The next morning a little after the time he was supposed to show up I called him but he says he can't come anymore because his phone broke and that he can only answer calls in his car. His screen didn't work so he couldn't use the GPS to get to my house. I offered that I could give him my address so he can write it down and also I was willing to give him turn by turn directions but he said he had to fix his phone and would call me back. That day I didn't get any calls or texts back. A couple weeks later I text him again and he answered and said he would have someone in the following week schedule me in. I didn't have trust anymore so I asked if he could just drop off the replacement switch so I can swap it out myself. He texted "sure". It's been another two weeks after this last exchange but no one called me to schedule, he didn't call me back or even texted. If your time is valuable and having a contractor show up when they said they would is important then don't hire Khalif. If you are retired and at home every day and timing doesn't matter then he is fine. The work he does is good. It's the responsiveness and reliability that is lacking. read more

Extremely disappointed that we have no other choice but to pursue legal means in hopes of securing a resolution to the property damage caused by Khalif. In short, we hired Khalif to install an outlet for a wall-mounted monitor in our office on August 17th. While installing the outlet, he damaged the wall of a tenant that shares a common wall with our office. As you can see from the attached image, the property damage is significant. Since then, I have been trying to get this matter resolved with Khalif in a professional manner, however, he has been dishonest about his intent to fix the matter by having extended false timeframes to repair the damage.
