I have come in for a manicure and pedicure multiple times now and each time has been great! The staff is always kind and efficient. I've never had any complaints. I've only gotten a regular mani/pedi since I'm not ready for the higher end services so it's not always as perfect as dip powder or gel which is completely understandable. The range of colors is decent but could be updated. They are definitely clean since they open a new set of cleaned tools each time & also usually ask customers to wash their hands upon arrival. I also like getting my eyebrows waxed here and I've liked the results. If you pay in cash, they give you a frequent customer card so that 10 visits (over $20 in cash each) gets you a free service. The previous salon refused to finish my Gel-X tips because she had "other people waiting" and "I didn't need color" (I made an appointment for 4:00 and was pushed out the door by 4:20). Upon arriving to K nails they made room for me to have a walk in appointment and they completely transformed my nails! They offered me an extremely generous discount for my nails because of my last experience. I wish I could remember who my nail tech was but I believe he was the owner. Let it be said that convenience does not always equal first-rate service! I'd never had my nails done while living in Charlotte (except a couple of times in Concord when I first moved to North Carolina) and wanted to get my nails done after months of not being able to have SNS because of my P.E. class last semester (but that is part of a whole other rant). This place is just across the street from my new neighborhood so I decided to walk over and get my SNS on. What a mistake! You notice how dirty, disorganized and dusty the place is the second you walk in. Cramped, too -- I have never seen a nail spa this tiny! I was afraid I would bump into something or someone the entire time; worse, I was afraid I would bump into someone getting a manicure and their hands would get messed up. Yeah, maybe it's all they could afford, but a small space should be easy to keep neat and clean, and there's no excuse for a dirty spa. Then this little old woman barks orders at you as she works on your nails. Doesn't once crack a smile, doesn't make conversation, doesn't even apologize when she cuts your finger as she's cleaning up your cuticles. She asked what nail shape I wanted but never asked about length or if I wanted tips or anything. She didn't even tell me to wash my hands until after it was all over (after lotion and massage oil on the hands) and midway through I even asked her. Her response was that she would tell me when I could wash my hands. The topper was when she brought out the UV machine to dry my nails, which 1) is not necessary when you do SNS, and 2) is actually an outdated method partly due to how harmful ultraviolet rays really are. The owner lied through his teeth saying it wasn't UV rays and how you could tell because of the shape of the light bulb (which makes no sense), and I Googled the exact machine to find out (surprise!) the lights are in fact ultraviolet. The owner's excuse was that customers request UV light because it dries nails quicker, and he added he didn't lie. Uh, yeah you did, actually. First you said it wasn't, and then you said you did have UV because it's in demand for quicker results... somehow, I doubt that. Anyone who gets SNS nails done on the regular knows UV or LED lights are not even required for drying SNS nails. If anything, they only lengthen the process. Not long after, I ended up having to get my nails fixed someplace else because of the unsightly bubble marks and the cracks that had formed under the surface. The SNS was so thick that it was starting to break under its own weight! In fact, part of my thumbnail had chipped off. It seems that the nail techs are not only unhappy to work here, but also really don't take pride in their work. Not to mention, I really don't appreciate being lied to. I won't be back despite the walking distance. There are much nicer spas in the area. EDIT: Be prepared to be insulted and threatened if you decide to write honestly about your not-so-stellar experience here, as well as receive a non-apology along the lines of, "I'm sorry you feel that way." Apparently, these people don't seem to realize that their customer base is where the money comes in and would prefer driving off anyone who isn't happy with the services provided over apologizing genuinely and trying to make things right. read more

I've been going here for as long as they have been opened, probably 10 years. So sorry to hear it is under new ownership. We didn't even know for a month! Were told Steve and Mimi were on vacation. I've been here 3x with new owners for acrylics fill-ins. The first time was a good job but the last 2 were horrible. My nails are all different lengths and they seem to charge me whatever they feel like. They also don't dremel under your nails or use cuticle oil any more. 2 necessary steps!, I was charged $20 for a fill-in w/o polish (I was having surgery soon and was not allowed to have polish) then $26 the next time I had a fill-in...they had to add a tip to one nail. No way that tip costs $6! I'm currently looking for a new place, sadly. read more

You know, this place isn't too shabby! Honestly, I was a bit skeptical in going here (I just moved from Raleigh), and I'm pretty picky when it comes to how I want my nails done and how I want for them to look. However, this place pleasantly surprised me. I arrived to a clean salon, plenty of colors to choose from, and a very kind staff. Although I wasn't seen right at my apointment time, they still did all of my services with kindness and quickness. Great job on my nails. Blah decor but they do have a fish tank. I felt bad for the poor fishies though, because they didn't have any fake plants or rocks to play around. I think I was the first client for the day, so there was no chemical smell. I am new to the Charlotte area and have been on the search for a good nail shop. I came across K-nails on Yelp and decided to give them a try based on the positive reviews. I came here on Friday for a gel polish change on my nails and spa pedicure. The service was pretty good. I made an appointment and was seen right away when I arrived - that was great. The nail technician was nice and very attentive. She did my pedicure first and it came out okay - not as much luster/shine as I'm used to but no major issue. As we went over to do my nails, I asked if she could use nail strengthener that I brought with me. The strengthener is a gel polish that my previous manicurist has used for years. The nail tech asked another nail tech if she could use it, to which she replied no. Her reasoning to me was because it would cause the gel polish not to stick. Mind you, I've been using this stuff for years with no problems ever!! Well, I'll have you know that today is Tuesday and my nail polish has begun chipping on 3 nails!!!! I am extremely disappointed and pissed. Never have I had gel polish chip in 4 days. All of my manicures last at least 2 weeks. Needless to say, I won't we walking around for the next 10'days with chipped polish, which means I'll have to spend more money getting them painted again. Such a waste! I showed him a picture of how I wanted my nail shaped so there was no confusion (stilleto) I ended up with almond nails. Not only are they the wrong shape, the acrylic is THICK. I've had an amazing set and this is NOT it. His next appointment walked in he immediately started rushing to paint my nails. I have been going to this place for the past 7 years and my last visit left me with a terrible experience. I was in there at 6:30 for a deluxe pedicure and eyebrow waxing. When I entered there were no other customers but 4 technicians. I got my pedicure which was just ok, my nails were not polished properly. After my nails were polished I wanted them to be dried. I sat near the machine, before it started the owner Mimi said you want eyebrows also so go to wax room. I have been desperately searching for a good nail place...and have yet to find what I need. I got a gel polish-no manicure and it was around $25-30...which I guess is normal, but makes me cringe. I think it's way too much. The shop is neat and clean. The ladies are extremely friendly and helpful with information about how to care for you nails and different tricks to make the polish last longer. My polish was gelish, and I usually get OPI. I was pleasantly happy with how long the gelish stayed on. I was a tad frustrated when they talked me out of 3 coats and that's what I really wanted. It's the most annoying thing!!! Ever!! However if you are new to getting nails done or waxing, have questions, want someone to provide excellent customer service, relate to you, etc., this place is not for you. Pros: Convenient, clean, close to home and they remember their regulars. My favorite tech is V (I think that's her name, she's very bubbly, honest and always has good convo, short auburn hair), Susie is cool too. Cons: Basic color selection, gel manis only last a week before they start changing colors and chipping, and they don't take care of their regulars. My salon back home offers a frequent buyer punch card that they punch til you receive 15 percent off. AND they offer wine and bottled water. This place....nothings offered. Their massage chairs are even pretty old. Also, one of the younger tech insulted my bushy eye brows one day...im sorry, I prefer to get my brows bladed now, not waxed and when they DID was my brows, they were thin and uneven. After being a loyal customer for 3 years, they've yet to offer a discount or even a free basic mani. Will I go back? Probably not. Needed a new nail salon since moving into the area. The salon is a little small, but adequate for the amount of patronage on a Wednesday night. I was seated and serviced right away. The method used to remove my old gel polish (placing an acetone soaked cut of paper towel on the nail, wrapping them in foil, and heating) let me know I was in good hands. This beat soaking in acetone and scrubbing forever. I had French gel polish put on and my technician, Steven, did a good job. I'm taking one star away because I asked that my nail not be buffed and it was. Aside from that, good service - not too friendly though. I was utterly disappointed in the lack of customer service experienced at this establishment!!!!! I will begin by saying Jimmy, one of the owners, has been doing my nails for several years. I mistakenly thought we had established a very good rapport. This morning I went in seeking service and was REFUSED to be served!! I was so perplexed, as I have NEVER in my entire life been refused service at any business. Jimmy and his wife Tran were both very rude and unprofessional! I was belittled and not treated with respect. Upon entering, Jimmy informed me he would not do my nails unless I got acrylic, then immediately changed his statement to "no I don't want to do your nails". As I attempted to seek clarification if he was actually refusing to service me, these two unprofessional business owners left me standing there without answers. Jimmy stopped talking to me and would not look up from his cellphone that's ALWAYS glued to his fingertips. I was baffled he didn't have the common courtesy to put his phone down to address the concerns of a long time customer. Additionally, Jimmy's wife turned her back to me and started looking at a stack of documents like I was invisible as I stood there puzzled and they blatantly ignored me. Customers should never be treated in this manner, especially those who have supported you for many years. This event was precipitated by my last visits to this salon. Initially, Black SNS was applied to my nails but began chipping the next day! I went back in to show Jimmy my nails. He reluctantly repaired the chips, while also blaming me and not taking any personal accountability for the possibility that it could potentially be their product. Within two more days, multiple nails were lifting and peeling off. I've never had a problem this severe with his technique so I thought maybe it was that particular SNS powder. At the end of the very first application, Jimmy even admitted many people have problems with chipping using this Black SNS, although he has denied saying it on each subsequent encounter = LIAR! Today, Jimmy did not even look at my nails before refusing to serve me. I think I would have been more understanding if he actually assessed the situation, looked at my nails, and offered the best professional recommendation for me instead of demanding I get acrylic, which ultimately ended in refused service. This was hurtful and a highly disappointing experience! I will NEVER patronize K Nails! I will never tolerate the level of unprofessionalism, poor customer service, and blatant disrespect I felt during this encounter ever again! There have been other instances when Jimmy and his wife exhibited poor customer service but I tried to overlook those encounters. This was my final strike with K Nails and their subpar service!!! read more

I have been going to this salon the last few times getting a fill from them. I went from an ombré from another nail salon, coming in to get a fill from them. The man who did my nails fixed them! He made them look sooo much better! And just today, I came back for another fill after a few weeks and I showed them how I wanted my nails. I am very picky so I have no problem to voice what I'd like every time. So if I wanted more glitter, he added more glitter, when I wanted another run on a corner, he added and perfected them. I see that some reviews on here say how terrible their nails were, and I know for a fact it's because they didn't voice their displeasures when they should've said something. How can you expect someone to fix anything when you don't say anything when you're not loving them at 100%? The ones I've seen who gave them a one star review obviously didn't open their mouths. Only just to voice what they expect at the beginning. Don't expect human beings to do things perfectly all the time. That's not how it works. They were wonderful. And so professional. No wait times ever. I love this place. I started coming here by a referral from my friend from church. As soon as I walked in, I can tell something had changed. There is usually a long wait on Saturdays but the Salon was almost empty. When I walked to the pedicure area, the lady that was going to do my pedicure was getting her toes painted and told me it will be a few minutes. My nail tech was friendly, interactive and very apologetic when she cut my toe. The atmosphere is sad, The Polish choices are limited. The tools may come out of a "sterilization" oven but that's all that is clean in this place. Just take a look behind the Pedi chairs and you'll see dust, dirt. A random jar of green stuff sitting there on the floor. There is one sink with one nail brush for everybody to use to clean your hands before getting polished. Ewww right. I am not even going to comment on the bathroom and sketchy looking waxing room! Or the dust on top of the fans that are drying nails? You wold think that paying $10 extra and it being called deluxe you work get a little more. Only difference is I got my feet dipped in wax. No wait time when walked in and pedicure water was perfect temperature, massage chair is very comfortable. They were super chatty in another language which always makes me kind of uncomfortable because you think they're talking about you but the actual pedicure was good. Great color options. I got acrylic nails a month ago so needed a fill about two weeks ago so they had started to come up off my nail at the base.
