Hot stone pot rice
Karen K.

Amazing authentic korean restaurant located inside a strip mall. Plenty of parking so you don't have to worry. It is quite hidden so it is easy to miss. Menu is quite large but keep in mind that some items are only written in korean. There are a lot of pictures on the menu and all over the walls in the store which does help in your decision making. Love all the bonchon and everything was very tasty. Not overly salted or sweet or spicy. They were all flavored just right! As for the food, the japchae was very flavorful and tended to taste sweeter and sweeter the more you ate it. The beef tripe stew was amazing. The soup wasn't salty like some other korean restaurants I've been to and was seasoned just right. It was so good I actually ate it all! The stone pot rice was just ok, could have used a bit more ingredients as it was a lot of rice. Service was good, the food came out fast after ordering but then it wasn't very busy at the time. Overall, a pleasant experience. I deducted 1 star as it is quite pricey compared to other restaurants nearby.

Gopchang jigae

Came here for dinner on Christmas Day since they were open. I had called ahead to double check and was told they close at 8pm (normally 9pm), and I'm so glad to know that because we got here a little before 7:30pm and were seated but a couple coming at 7:40 were told that the kitchen was closed. I got the gopchang jigae, and it was so delicious. There were lots of intestine pieces. I only wish the soup was a little bit spicier. The banchan was superb, and everything tasted homemade in a good way. The cheese seafood ddukbokki was the only thing that was disappointing. I wouldn't get this again--the sauce was very runny and there wasn't much cheese nor seafood.

This is a very interesting place. I moved from fort Lee and been missing Korean food. Been looking for a great Korean spot down at Edison. I seen very reviews about this place and how it's very authentic. This place has it good and bad. Let's start with the good. The service was great. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. She even recommended things. The bad, I ordered the "army stew" Budae jjigae. It came out very sour and lack of salt. Didn't even finish the pot. It was just not enjoyable with how sour it was. It was very disappointing to me because I thought I finally found my go to spot down here in Edison. I'll give them a try again

This spot is sooo good. I came here for a weekday lunch and there are lunch options available. It's run by a couple so it did take 20 min to get my food, but trust me it's worth the wait. Banchan was top notch too - so many offered! - Gamjatang, (5/5): sooo good, the cabbages are so soft, and the pork fell off the bone Pls stop by and support this yummy restaurant :^) ty for reading

My friend and I wanted to try Korean and chose this place because of the reviews. We were not disappointed. We were the first ones seated but within 1/2 hour the place was packed with locals. Service was a bit slow since there were only 2 servers so they were not rushing us out. Really enjoyed all the food. Tasted very authentic.

We're in need of more authentic, homestyle Korean restaurants around this area, and I'm happy K Food opened up here! The restaurant truly gives a homey, family-run feel, and the food hits the spot. I came with a group for dinner and we shared a few dishes family-style (seafood pancake, seafood tteokbokki, dongkatsu, grilled pork belly, and bulgolgi bibimbap). Service was a bit slow, but we enjoyed the food and would happily order all the dishes again. The complimentary banchan was plentiful and delicious. Also, the menu has a nice assortment of soups and stews, which we'll have to check out next time. Will be back!

Not sure what took us so long to find this place, but we were surprised to discover it next to my old KTV stomping ground! I knew once we stepped in and saw the old 아줌마 (ahujumma) serving that the food was going to be excellent! These mom and pop Korean restaurants always have the best, most authentic food. Ever since Chung Sol Bot closed, we've been looking for a replacement spot and K Food hits the spot^^ We tried a little bit of everything from the doenjang jiggae, LA galbi, sam gyup sal, and cheesey seafood dukbokki. Everything came hot sizzling hot and delicious. Their kimchi here is some of the best we've had! I also want to comment on complaints of service as we did not have any issue. Our server seemed to have a very good relationship with all the customers here and definitely took her time to cater to them well. She took very good care of us and we were very patient as she helped others around her. Please consider the culture here before commenting on their service!

I've been wanting to try this place for a while but every time I'm ready to come here, it's always the wrong day and they're closed. Well, we finally made it here! When we got here, we were the first to arrive for an early dinner, so we got seated immediately. The place is small with walls that are white with wood panels. Posters of food line it while a mounted TV is positioned on the opposite wall. There is a drinks refrigerator near the back by the entrance to the restroom and the dining area is comprised of two long booths that sit against the walls and regular tables that cover both the middle area and area by the windows. Pictures of food can be seen on the windows as well. We ordered the following: Army stew- compared to the presentations of army stews that we've ordered in the past, this one fell a little flat. There weren't as many hot dogs and spam as we expected it to have. The ingredients were different. We didn't expect this to be individual sized. Daughter felt that there weren't enough proteins in it, so she was disappointed that there were tofu in it. Squid bop- this was delicious. We're used to places that overcooked the squid but this place was just right. Gamjatang - delicious and Hubs still liked it. He said that it's comfort food. Portion is small, though. But, it's less leftovers! Fried chicken - Hubs and daughter loved it. They said it wasn't that sweet and that's why I didn't like it. This was ok. I'm not a fan of Korean fried chicken. Hubs said that he hasn't had this in a while and is a closet favorite. He knows that it's not good for him but he loved it. A small party came in, eventually. Service was pretty quick, though. Will definitely return to try other items on the menu!

banchan so fresh!

New hidden gem! This place does not disappoint! Food was very flavorful and tasty. The best is their unlimited banchan or side dishes. Every dish I had: pork bone soup, bibimbap, galbi was so good!! Some people say service is slow. It's a husband and wife duo. She's in the front and husband in kitchen so give them a break. Bonus it's byob.

The service and Banchan was excellent. I ordered the Budae jjigae, the Squid Bokkeum, and the Yukgaejang Kalguksu. Everything was delicious, especially the Yukgaejang. Would definitely come back!

Found this place from an instagram reel and knew I had to try it out since my go to korean place shut down. They have lunch specials on weekdays! All the food was delicious and portions were very generous as well. Pork belly was cooked perfectly and i loved all the side dishes. You'll need to wave down the servers if you need anything, which is pretty normal in korean restaurants. I think the food is much better than what you get in the H-mart plaza, its also less crowded and they have their own parking lot. Will def be coming back whenever i'm craving korean food.

Banchan
Perry P.

A classic mom n pop, Korean restaurant. Place is run by an elderly couple, plus we got there right when they opened, so service was little slow but the banchan tasted fresh, not from a jar and the classic dishes were decent. Nice place to stop by for K food.

Unfortunately did not get a picture of the food before hand but here is our absolutely demolished table of food.
Rebecca ..

Absolutely delectable. Tried this place completely on a whim based on some google map searching. The food was amazing. What really sealed the deal for me was how it was so clear that there were regulars to the restaurant who felt comfortable with the staff. It created a wonderfully homey environment. Definitely a place I will come back over and over again.

Arriving at noon, we were seated right away. After ordering, we noticed the kitchen does get quite busy with a lot of take out orders. Always a good sign when this happens to signify good food! The jajang-myun is so tasty with bits of seafood and onions. Sauce has just the right amount of flavoring and the noodles with just the right amount of chewiness and bounce. Loved the beef intestine stew! Not overly spicy and warmed me up on a cold winter's day. The ox bone soup came with spices and salt so you could taylor to your liking. Last new item we tried was the tang-su-yuk, which was flavorful but was more breading than pork. It is deep fried with a side of sweet and sour sauce. I liked having the sauce on the side instead of already dipped so you could add as much or as little as you'd like. There are a few parking spots behind the building amd to the side but we've never had any issues with getting a spot. Cozy place to eat and highly recommend!

I've come here a few times over the years, and I have repeatedly had problems. I typically ask for the meat on the side, and there's about a 50/50 chance it comes on top. They also messed up my order several times, and there's a chance they refuse to replace it (even if the receipt item doesn't match with what they gave me). I do not blame the cashiers or workers for this because I've ordered with several of them and had the exact same issues. This is a management-level problem. Most recently, they charged me for something I didn't order and said they were unable to do a partial refund. I told them that I didn't order the item and didn't want it, and they told me that a refund wasn't possible, so they gave me the item and a bonus soda. I appreciate the attempt to make up for it, but it just isn't enough. Why am I forced to buy something I didn't want? It also didn't even taste good. I can understand making a mistake every once in a while, but this is excessive. I won't be coming back to eat here again, and I can't recommend this place to anyone.

The hostess saw this and asked if we moved the table and told us not to do that... After we told her why we moved the table she said no don't do that. Odd... but ok. We got the pork sticky rice shumai, pork in garlic sauce over rice, sautéed string beans and pepper corn chicken. Shumai was ok. The pork in garlic sauce had way too much sauce and was a tad sweet for our liking; it was drowning in sauce. The strings and pepper corn chicken were very good. Both had a slight touch of heat. I wish we ordered differently but overall the food was ok. Our server was very nice and attentive. We're debating coming back to try more of the menu but with so many Asian/Chinese restaurants to try in Edison, I think we'd try someplace else.

I've eaten at Ottoyee for months now, and each experience has been incredibly delicious. However, the only thing is that the wait time can run very long. Not for the food to arrive, but for placing the order. We tried to get the attention of the waiter on staff multiple times, but was either ignored or they were behind the screen attending to something else. The wait time was around 15-20 minutes, but this is likely attributed to the small staff. Otherwise though, they were incredibly kind and knowledgeable of the menu and we still had a delicious experience as usual.

Upon entertaining on a weekend evening, there were a few tables with patrons but not too busy. The restaurant did seem a bit understaffed with only one person taking orders / bringing food out, making it difficult to flag down this one person to successfully take our order and ask for anything additional throughout the night. Gyudon: for the price, we were really surprised at how small of a portion this was. It was not only in a small bowl, but the meat was layered on top perfectly deceiving you to think that there was more than there actually was. The majority of this dish was rice, and with limited sauce at that. As displayed on the menu images it was to be served with a runny egg, but unfortunately we got a fully cooked one (disappointing, as we were looking for something to mix with the rice!) Sushi: We got a 3 rolls and they were just alright. They were pretty small in size, with less rice than I'm used to (which is something I do like - I would rather more fish than rice!) With us getting spicy salmon, spicy tuna, and spicy scallop - they all kind of tasted the same, so I wish the fish wasn't as heavily masked with spicy mayo. Ramen: I got the black garlic ramen, and it wasn't the best, but wasn't the worst. I've purchased fresh ramen packages in the supermarket before and it tasted just like that, so it made me disappointed knowing I could achieve the same at home. The soup itself was extremely rich and fatty, and the charsiu had no flavor whatsoever leaving much to be desired. The main reason I'm rating this so low is upon having my last bites of sushi, I could tell something was off. I don't recall which specifically I had but I made a statement that it was extremely fishy and off putting. Fast forward later that night, I was hunched over the toilet vomiting with stomach pain - and I can deduct that the sushi was the culprit. I might consider trying Ottoyee again due to the great deals they have listed on food delivery apps, but the sushi quality (quite literally) put a bad taste in my mouth.
