After entering and attempting to exchange pleasantries with a simple good afternoon, I was looked at like I had a third arm growing out of my forehead. So I put my head down, and continue to shop and find a located the item that I was searching for. Upon checking out, the cashier overcharged me, and I caught it. Her reasoning for doing so was a little suspicious. Saying that Granny Smith apples appeared to be Vine tomatoes? Sure okay. So once she corrected the charges and I paid with my card she literally reached down and scratched her finger where I should have signed, and was looking away grabbed my receipt and handed it to me. Not a word. I said thank you, because I have manners and then left. That will be my first and last time in this little town market.

Now they add SOY to their meatloaf to cut down on their cost for them, but still charge us a premium price for the meat. Soy does not belong in a MEAT loaf. I will no longer order their holiday turkey breast because they're charging me for A carcass along with the breast. Now I will no longer order meatloaf because they're charging me for meat and yet they cram SOY in the so-called meatloaf. It's getting pretty close to the point where I just won't shop here anymore. There was also a time where they re-wrapped meat with a new date on it and forgot to remove the old date. That's not really legal. I don't know who is doing all of this, but it's not how little butcher shop used to be. Whoever is in charge now needs to stop it immediately before they get turned in to the proper authorities.

On to the food. Granted, I had very minimal food - people were ordering multiple-pound buckets of shelled crawfish with various sides - but here's my take. The cheese dip was a bit salty. Had a decent amount of crawfish in it, probably a bit heavier on the tomatoes and veggies than the seafood, but a decent haul overall. But very salty. The gumbo, on the other hand, was surprisingly not salty enough! I poured the rice in (for some reason was given them separately) and went to town on it, focusing on the Gulf shrimp first, finishing off the rice and roux, then using the bread to soak up the soup and ending with all the crawfish inside. Overall, it was pretty good stuff. Not really exactly the tastes I was looking for, but I value the small, independent, local place with fresh seafood in droves, so I would absolutely never give them less than 4 stars for that. I would just recommend two things:1) better off coming here to sit (with plenty of time) as opposed to trying to get something to go quickly, and 2) bring a bunch of friends so that you can all split one of the large buckets of items and go to town on the crawfish yourself! That probably is 5 stars there every time and I would be willing to try them again with those circumstances.

I jokingly said to our server sprinkle a little something extra on auntie it's on me and before we left the staff surprised her with a piece of cheesecake and they sang Happy Birthday. We went there specifically for the cheesecake and she got a piece. I loved being surrounded by the dollars with messages as well. One in particular placed there in 2026 said something along the lines of "keep going". The message was right on time, I lost my father in February and a good sign here and there keeps me going. We arrived after lunch so it wasn't too busy. We had the back area to ourselves while we celebrated her and had good food and dessert. I will be back the next time I'm in town.
