Our tour stopped in town for lunch, and I could've selected several fast food options, but then we saw this little barbecue located a block back from the main road. I've heard so much about the barbecue in the south that it was hard to think about not going there, we had to go. It did not disappoint. The staff was very friendly. They helped us make good decisions, as I would've over ordered. There was so much on the menu that looked appetizing. As usual, my wife and I shared our entrées and we could not find a problem with anything. We ultimately a sample plate of different barbecue meats. As you suspected, I ate more than she did. We did have apple fritters for dessert and they came out a little bit different than I suspected they would. An apple fritter that I'm familiar with is served like a large donut, these were donut holes. Tasty little bites that they custom-made for our order. The ambience is comfortable, but don't go expecting linens and glasses and a sit down experience, you order and they bring the tray of food to you when it's ready and life is good at that point. It is what it is and it's not bad. Next time I'm in this small town. I would not hesitate to go to this barbecue and have some authentic southern cooking. read more

Great service, food is a bit bland. Ribs use to be very flavorful, not just tastes life unseasoned meat. None of the meat has that good smoky flavor. Sauce is ok nothing stands out. The brisket was somewhat dry and without good flavor and the turkey resembled thin-cut meat from a local deli--again with no BBQ flavor. Very clean (including the restrooms), the food was very tasty and the servers were super sweet I would recommend the pulled pork, fried okra and garlic mashed potatoes. Zero employee mask compliance. The customers are all maskless too. I went through the drive through and still felt unsafe. As I sat next to my unopened food in my car I googled yet again how likely it is if you can catch COVID from eating restaurant food. It's pretty unlikely IF the employees have masks on while preparing it. They all did not. I waited a little while and then finally decided to try it. The catfish and ribs were just ok but not worth the existential dread and parking lot CDC research. The corn on the cob was mealy and the salad was old and wilty. I took one bite of both of these and threw the rest away. Cole slaw was too sweet. The beans were the best out of anything I ate here and even then they were just ok. I have always loved patronizing small mom and pop businesses around the country but I have recently come to notice- it's the bigger chains like McDonald's, Starbucks, and Costco that provide consistent safe service and the Mom and Pop stores have no accountability for safety or even (in this case) quality. The smell alone from driving by will draw you into this place. But it can be a good thing, or a trap! I have tried giving the place a chance twice, but have actually only eaten it once. I tried going and sitting down at the restaurant awhile back which ended badly as I explain at the end of the review, and once as carry out platter style awhile later, and got to taste the food for the first time.. I cant speak for anything but the meat, but I have to say the meat was pretty good! My favorite so far has been the briquet, pulled pork, and the smoked sausage! I recommend those. And their specialty BBQ sauces goes with them nicely. My dine in experience was pretty blah though. Slow service... very slow. I can't even tell you what I tried ordering that time cause I was so over how long it took to even get our food before we left. It was almost two hours into being there, and nothing. No manager, no refills, no offer on something to snack on while waiting.. just left a bad taste in our mouth! Im glad that I was able to get a second chance on trying it when we had it take out in large quantities of multiple items, kind of like a catering style, and able to try a little of everything. That way we got to enjoy the food, and not have to wait on the service. Cause if it wasn't for getting to try the meat outside the restaurant I wouldn't have known it's actually decent cause I'd never go back thanks to that last attempt. read more

Nice place to eat for lunch. We got the lunch plates and were stuffed when we left. I had the pulled pork with potato salad and Cole slaw. Everything was really good. The pork was kind of dry but they give you sauce with it and that makes it even better. My wife had the brisket and she said it was really good also. The atmosphere was what I would expect at a BBQ place and the smell going in really set the mood. I felt like I was eating in a old time smokehouse. Overall good experience here.
