I pondered whether I was going to give Georgia Blue two stars or three stars. Even though I ultimately landed on two, that may be a little unfair -- so let me tell you the whole experience and you can make your own determination. My brother, his wife, and I stopped in for a celebratory late lunch. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and my brother had a double Woodford on the rocks. My Old Fashioned $10 was really good. And obviously, it's pretty hard to mess up a double Woodford on the rocks -- unless you charge $21 for it. Good grief. I understand restaurant pricing, but somewhere around $15 seems a little more reasonable. That said, the drinks were good, our waitress was extremely attentive and as nice as she could be, and the restaurant was very clean. Absolutely zero complaints in those areas. Then came the appetizers. We ordered the turnip green bites and the fried pickles, roughly $15 and $12 respectively. The turnip green appetizer -- fried with cheese, applewood-smoked bacon, and turnip greens inside -- was absolutely wonderful. And the fried pickles were honestly some of the best I've ever eaten. In hindsight, we probably should have just paid the bill right then and left on a high note. I made a comment to my brother, sister-in-law, and the waitress: "If the appetizers are this good, sometimes restaurants let you down when you get to the entrée." Well, apparently I spoke that into existence. I don't know that I've ever seen a reg 10-ounce ribeye listed at "market price," something like bone-in Flintstone T-Rex cowboy maybe, so I told my brother, "These are going to be good." I teased my sister-in-law and asked her what she thought they would cost. She guessed $26. I laughed and said, "They're probably going to be around $40 apiece." She lost the bet. They were $38 each. And I would have been perfectly happy paying $38-$45 for a great ribeye. Before the steaks arrived, our waitress came back and asked if we were going to need steak sauce. My brother said, "I better not," and we all laughed. Unfortunately, the three of us were immediately disappointed after taking our first bites. The steaks were just bad. My brother said his reminded him of a Waffle House steak. My reply, "they're a touch above, but not much". That may sound harsh, but I understood exactly what he meant. They were thin -- maybe half an inch -- and had those perfect crisscross grill marks that almost looked like they came in that way. The whole thing reminded me more of Golden Corral or Western Sizzlin' from back in the day than what I expected from a $42 out the door ribeye. When our waitress came back and asked how everything was, we said it was fine, of course, because we were trying to be nice. But my brother then joked, "I should've taken the steak sauce." He was attempting to be humorous, and we all understood the comment for what it was. He also said that the meal was really about the company, not the steaks -- and that part was absolutely true. We were celebrating together and enjoyed being with one another. But we really did expect a lot more from the food. I understand beef is expensive. I don't mind paying $40 for a ribeye. But if you're going to charge $38 for a 10-ounce steak, the quality has to come somewhere close to the price. Our total lunch bill was about $225, including a $30+ tip, and that's what made the experience so disappointing. We weren't looking for a cheap meal. We were celebrating and were perfectly willing to spend the money. The service was very good. The restaurant was clean. The drinks were good. The appetizers were excellent. So I may upgrade my two stars to three. You just missed it on the steaks guys. But Georgia Blue desperately needs to have a conversation with whoever is supplying those ribeyes. When our waitress asked how everything was, we certainly weren't going to take it out on her -- she did her job exceptionally well. Georgia Blue, talk to your meat vendor. read more

We waited a long time for someone to come to our table after we were sat due to some confusion. When our server did arrive, he was very pleasant and cheerful. The food was good, however we did have to request the bread be made as per the menu since it lacked a few ingredients. Our appetizers were delicious as well as the main entrée. I swore I would never go back after the laughable customer service I received a couple months ago. I forgot about my resolution so I went back last week. Empty restaurant, 8 employees all milling about the front on their phones. No one even spoke to me for 5 minutes. Waited another 15 minutes for the meal I ordered via phone 30 minutes prior. 100% same situation today. I need to put a sticky on my work computer to remind me NEVER AGAIN. She offered good suggestions and answered all our questions about the menu. Drinks were also good. The only disappointment was when leaving we were complimenting our server to the manager and she never acknowledged or even looked up at us. Shame on her. First you have to start with the location. This isn't one of those run of the mill chain locations. It is situated near the center of this little town in an older building with charm. We took a party of 8 to dinner. They are all locals and already knew what they wanted. (Nachos, Mac&cheese, fries, gnocci, and the like) I ordered the bowl of the Duck & Sausage Gumbo. I ordered it "the way it comes" but the server still asked me if I wanted the potato salad. (Yes potato salad) When I said yes, she said she would put it on the side. Really? That isn't the way the menu advises....While it was good it was very salty and rich. I don't mind the rich part so much but the salt - woooo that took a few bites to get used to the extent of it. I started with the house salad so that helped. The table ordered some pecan cobbler and the bread pudding for dessert. Both were delicious. This location has live music in an adjacent "bar room" and it sounded like a good time in there. If I hadn't been there with a "strictly eat and get out" kinda crowd I would have had another drink in there. We will return now that I know this charming spot is an option. read more

I haven been here twice now. The first time I had the duck gumbo and wings and the second time I had the Salmon. I sat at the bar each time and the service was great each time. The staff was friendly, talkative and took their time to answer my questions about the menu. The interior is nice/modern and the dining area and bar feel clean. The bar itself is nice but creates an odd experience becuse it is walled off from the main dining area. You almost feel isolated, like you are in a different restaurant. I think removing the wall would bring you into the dining experience more as a whole. The prices are a tad a high for this area but not ridiculous and the food quality is commensurate to the price. Certainly worth a visit if you are ever in Brookhaven! read more

Everything! A Friday night, passing by Brookhaven on a trip south. Needed somewhere to eat while on the road before it got late. I saw GB on Yelp and had to find my way there. In true fashion, the turnip green bites were absolutely on point! Sorry I have no pics....i stuffed first and. Then thought about a review. This time around, I had seafood linguine. Delicious. My wife had the Ziti. She couldn't resist, as we are regulars at the Starkville location, and it's her fave. The atmosphere was actually kinda quiet. There was live music that added to the background noise. The restaurant itself is interestingly detailed. We thought it was new, actually. We had a good time and good food, and where we see a GB, we gotta stop and eat. Well done, Brookhaven location! May I also say, we had awesome service. The food was out fast and hot. read more

What a great find for us road tripping home from Nashville to Baton Rouge! Kylah was a great server. The food was really good. We arrived around 1p and didn't have to wait for a table of 8. We have been eating at Georgia Blue since they opened. In years past, we frequented the Lakeland Drive location. My nieces were visiting from Missouri and have always loved Georgia blue, and since we now live in Crystal Springs, we decided to go to Brookhaven. The location is really cute. I've never seen a Georgia blue in a downtown storefront. The aesthetic inside is wonderful, especially if you love history and vintage things like we do. The hostess was very accommodating and super kind. Our server was attentive, but did not hover. She was friendly and when I asked her a question she did not know the answer to, offered to go ask the kitchen. We went at around 1230 on a Friday. It was not overly busy, but was peppered with tables here and there. Our food took an ordinate amount of time to get. That's not a big deal, we can handle that if we get good fresh food. My fried shrimp were warm and my sweet potato fries were room temperature. We had waited so long that I did not return them. Thankfully, not having piping hot food is not a dealbreaker for me, but I do like my food to be recently warm. The only person at the table who got really hot food was my niece that ordered the shrimp and grits. My vegetarian niece ordered pasta Alfredo and it was warm. Their friend ordered the smothered chicken, and while her chicken was a decent temperature, the mashed potatoes that it was a top of, we're barely warm. I cannot figure out for the life of me how you can wait so long for food and it not be hot. It's just a bit disappointing to spend $120 for lunch and leave thinking we would've enjoyed that more had the food been the right temperature. My husband and I will give it another try. The food is so good here, no matter what you choose. This visit, we had the firecracker shrimp appetizer and the chicken tender entree. I wish the shrimp was a meal itself. I couldn't stop eating it! Located in quant downtown Brookhaven MS. This place is a local little hide-a-way that needs to be found. By the number of reviews it looks to be getting found ALOT which is deserved. I went for lunch and got red beans and rice which was really good. Now, it was not piping hot but i could have had them warm it up some so it was not a big deal since it was full of down home flavor. One employee on her phone sitting on the bench and two other employees behind the desk decided to finish their conversation before one just took off with menus without saying anything to us but we followed. First time here and probably won't be the last! Found it by "accident" when traveling back to Louisiana. Food was delicious and our waiter was super helpful with suggestions. (Having the LSU baseball game on tv helped as well lol) We had the loaded fries as an appetizer which were delicious. My son had the G5 (amazing) and I had the hamburger steak, blue plate special only available on Sundays. Would definitely make the 2 hour drive to take my wife there to try on a nice day trip. read more

I personally do not care for the food here. It's your typical casual dining chain. I have eaten there twice and did not enjoy the food or the ambiance either time. It felt very business like and somewhat snooty. I felt like I should be wearing an Ole Miss hoodie and conversing with my date about their football stats. Just not a fan. I'M A FAN!!!! Was in Brookhaven on business and "GB" was recommended as a town favorite. It was a short drive from my hotel (Hampton Inn) located in the downtown area. When I walked in I was greeted and noticed the place had a nice crowed. I ventured to the bar area because that's where the live music was coming from and the two flat screens on the wall didn't hurt either. Being that I was from out of town, I asked the barmaid what she recommended. She recommended the shrimp/grits and the Voodoo Grouper. I ordered a draft Fat Tire and the Chef Robert's Bayou Catfish. My meal was out in no time and it did not disappoint. The dish comes with fried catfish, but I opted for blackened (see pic). It was served over corn & cheese grits, tomatoes, okra, and topped w/ bayou crawfish cream sauce. The portion size was huge so I ended up taking some home, but not before trying desert. The Fat Boy a la Mode is giant hot fudge double chocolate chip brownie with a cookie dough crust on the bottom that was served warm, topped with three scoops of vanilla ice cream, chocolate syrup, caramel sauce, and chocolate chips. We came here on a Sunday for lunch and it was busy. We were told it would be less than a 15 minute wait for 2, but ended up waiting 30 minutes. The issue I had was I counted at least 5 tables that were open and clean the whole time we were waiting. When my husband finally inquired about our wait the hostess blamed it on our buzzer not working. We were literally standing 5 feet in front of the hostess stand the entire time so she could have waived us over. Once seated we decided upon the daily special which was prime rib. Of course the waitress said they were sold out. We settled on the pork sliders and brisket sliders. They were both underwhelming and lacked flavor. So first off, the stairs were very sticky. Our server wasn't that friendly. The vibe and cups were very cute, though. I feel like the aesthetic covered up the fact that the food wasn't that good. The sweet tea was gross, the chicken alfredo was watery, the chicken had no seasoning what so ever, the salad was gross, and the vinegarette was just nasty vinegar. The burger was ok, but the fries and burger didn't come with ketchup. we even asked for it and never got it, so it was dry. We drove through town and needed a place to eat. With it being a time of covid, and the week of Thanksgiving there wasnt much to choose from. That being said, a true gem was still open and ready for business. We pulled up and were blessed to hear a policeman playing the piano in front of the music shop down the sidewalk.
