This place has a good staff and good food. The service is very good and the wait is not unreasonable. It is a place that I would recommend.

The only redeming aspect of the dining experience was the service. Saturday night at 8pm and they were out of 4 side items, 3 premium sides, white wine, and ALL hamburgers. The poor waitress looked beat down. And, the ribs are terrible... all shaked on salt/seasoning (waaaay over salted). My last 3 visits confirmed this is a restaurant in decline.... Dry brisket, over-salted ribs, and out of items every time we eat here. This pains me as a local. This is an opportunity for local people to work and local aritsts to hone their singing craft. Unfortunately, Management has lost their way and the quality is NOT worth paying for. I see this restaurant across the street every day and will be sad when it closes because of the impact to the community. Unless... ownership once again gives a damn about the quality of the food that they provide and get BACK to caring as much as they once did when Magnolia Blues started out on the hillside behind the theatre. Perhaps Ownership will read this and care. Or perhaps they will simply try to milk the last drops out of a once promising BBQ restaurant. Whatever happens next is up to them. read more

On my quest for good food in Brookhaven this place was suggested. I like the vibe overall... at least some people are in here! Prices are reasonable. I ordered the signature burger and it was good. Came out quickly and tasted great. I especially enjoyed the bun. Sweet potato fries were also great. I wanted to give this place 4 stars and maybe I will next time but for right now the loss of a star is really about the service. The ladies working the bar we're really nice but they seemed more focused on chatting up the locals than actually taking care of the bar. My beer was empty a good 10 min while the girl stood a foot away from it and chatted with 2 local men for a good 10 min. Everytime I wanted service I had to get their attention vs them stopping by and asking how I was doing. There are people that come here that are not "local" but stay here a lot. No problem having friends and chatting but don't forget your job. I will be back again so see if this was a one off occurrence. read more

So... we're in from Jackson for a work trip and we heard there would be music and great drinks, so we stopped in. No music, but it's fine. We sat at a table in the bar for a drink before turning in. My co-worker orders an old fashioned. I order a sazerac. It's a specialty on their list and I love a sazerac so I excitedly ordered. When the drinks come, I get a reddish drink with ice and my co-worker gets a brownish drink w no ice. I figured out that they were mixed up after tasting mine and it was probably an old fashioned. I then get my no-ice sazerac and taste it... and smell it... no absinthe in that drink. There's no way. So I tell the waitress to please add a tiny bit. She comes back and says that they don't have any. That's why it's not in there. Ok... my issue is the deception. I know not everyone knows a lot about cocktails, and I'm sure that bartender thought that of me. And she was WRONG. But absinthe is an essential part of a sazerac. They basically gave me an old fashioned w no ice and wrong bitters. And did not even tell me. That's the part that is awful. If they had said, "we're out of absinthe so we can't make they. Would you like something else?" I would have chosen something else. They lied about it and tried to pass it off because they thought I wouldn't know the difference. That's really crappy, y'all. What? At the VERY least, apologize for the deception and give me the iceless old fashioned with wrong bitters for no charge. That didn't happen either. So.. I can't speak to the food. But I can speak to the actions of the bartenders trying to pass drinks off as something they are not. read more

Do not eat here. Serious food safety issues. I had a really bad experience here tonight. The oysters were very small, and I know that's not the fault of the restaurant. The raw oysters were good. I asked for horseradish immediately when the oysters came out. I was told a couple of minutes later they didn't have any. I then see other patrons a minute or so later with horseradish. I then ask for hot sauce. I'm told that there are only 2-3 bottles in the whole restaurant and they would try to find them. A couple of minutes later I see other patrons with hot sauce. I was brought a bottle of hot sauce after we finished the oysters. It was sealed, and when I opened it I see that the top portion of the bottle is a huge gelatinous blob of black and white mold. The manager comes out later and doesn't seem to understand the problem. Like a deer in headlights look. He asks what I want and I just tell him "the check" $120 for oysters and drinks. Nothing taken off the bill. Not a good first impression of the place. Serious food safety and customer service issues. read more

Left a review seven years ago but glad we gave it another try. The new downtown location is awesome! Great food, great location, great service, great live music, great atmosphere! Our go to place in Brookhaven. My wife loves the pulled pork nachos but one night I recommended her try them with brisket and now that's her favorite. I've eaten multiple items from the menu and all have been great. Take a walk in beautiful downtown Brookhaven and stop in for dinner, you won't be disappointed! read more

The food was really good, and the service was spectacular. My wife got the spicy chicken sandwich (fried) - it was gigantic... and the best chicken sandwich I've ever had! It came with a side of blue cheese sauce that wasn't super 'in-your-face' like most blue cheese sauces, which was nice. I got the prime burger and it was the perfect amount of char. The side salads were very large also, and the pickled red onion in lieu of the raw onion most restaurants use on them was a nice touch. The kid burgers were made with fresh ground meat also, and the kids thoroughly enjoyed them. The service was spectacular. Our waitress had a lot of tables but was very attentive. The ribs from Magnolia Blues in Brookhaven are hands down THE best we have eaten anywhere. They are delicious and the bones literally pull clean away from the meat. Highly recommend!! In town for a conference and stopped here for an early dinner. Friendly staff and excellent food. I'm always skeptical of brisket outside of a few choice Texas establishments, but the brisket was delicious, moist and tender. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone tender and flavorful and the sausage was good as well. Wife and I shared a 3 meat plate and it was plenty. My girls shared the nachos and had leftovers. JW We a party of four traveling to New Orleans decided to try this place well it was worth the drive In to town. I had the large plate of ribs with bacon ranch potato salad and baked beans yum! Stopped in here on a whim on our way to Jackson from New Orleans. Everything was amazing! I had the brisket platter and my husband got the rib platter. Food was really good and our waitress was great, but the live music ruined the visit. We were not seated in the same room and it was so loud that carrying on a conversation with our party was next to impossible.
