A group of us went to the restaurant by referral. Driving up, it's beautiful, sits back a little so when you drive up when the sun is down and the lights are on. When you entered, the hostess was friendly, and she even opened the door when she noticed you. The service started out a little rough bc the server wasn't very attentive and was kind of rushed, but it got better as the night went on. We even thought about asking for another server, but he got it right. The food was delicious. The shrimp were large and juicy. Flavored to perfection. The ambiance is very nice and the decor is pleasant. It has a romantic vibe, yet it's a great atmosphere for friends and family. There was one guy who took a few pictures for us that were extremely friendly. He could have been a manager because he also came to check on us to make sure everything was good. read more

This place is beautiful! By far the best restaurant in this entire area! We were warmly greeted, and chose to sit at the gorgeous bar. My boyfriend had the tequila mockingbird cocktail with black salt rim-so good! And I had their spin on a mojito, only downside was they charged $3 to exchange rum for vodka. We ordered the hot wings, which were amazing! Perfectly crispy, perfect heat, and the blue cheese was delicious! We both got wedge salads and I asked for their red wine vinegar dressing on mine which was great! Then we shared the chicken Vincent with pasta Alfredo-we both agreed it was the BEST chicken either of us had in longer than we can remember. And we are huge foodies and I think I'm a top notch chef, especially when it comes to chicken and Alfredo! The chicken was cooked to perfection and had such a wonderful flavor and the Alfredo sauce was light, creamy, and just over the top! I could literally eat this meal every day for the rest of my life! I think we will have to make this a weekly date night spot. And did I mention this place is BEAUTIFUL! Definitely my new favorite restaurant in Mississippi. read more

We passed this restaurant, tucked in the middle of nowhere, en route to antique shopping, and it piqued our interest. So, we made reservations, and made the drive to return. We will say, in fairness, tastes are regional-and this appears to be a locals' hangout for casual dining. For example, what some would find over-salted, others might thoroughly enjoy. The menu may be slightly confusing, as it's printed out on a piece of paper, and not delineated (starters versus entrees). But the server kindly pointed out the differences. The credit card surcharge is clearly printed on the bottom of the menu to avoid misunderstandings. The decor is minimalist (a good thing) and it's clean, including the restrooms. The music (from rap to Billie Eilish) was eclectic to say the least, it made for a peculiar juxtaposition. There were sports channels on the screens in the main dining room-another peculiarity. The lovely young lady who was our server was 5*, super sweet, with one of those gorgeous Southern drawls that I could listen to all day. She was attentive, whilst simultaneously giving us our space. I ordered the Chicken Vincent, which was a smallish, thin chicken breast, a tad salty, but the cream sauce w/artichokes definitely has potential. The greens, again regional, were something I passed on. My husband ordered the ribeye steak, which he said was cooked perfectly, with whipped garlic baby red mashed potatoes. But again with the salt. It was one of my favorite places to eat. They had fabulous desserts, especially the Praline Cheesecake. Justin Wilson often showed up here before he passed away. It was a great place to unwind when it was open every day. I haven't been here since it burnt down, it's only open on Friday and Saturday now so I'm told. read more

We love the upscale atmosphere of The Mallard. When we first moved to the area, we only went to The Mallard for special occasions or when we had friends in town. However, it quickly became a place we adore so we visit as often as possible. Quaintly nestled on the outskirts of McComb and Brookhaven, you'll find that when you first catch sight of the grounds, it's something of wonder you will want to explore. A beautiful courtyard leads the way to the dining area and it's simply hard not to fall in love with the area. The ever-changing menu and drink specials never disappoint and on the rare occasion that we leave room for dessert, I haven't met a sweet ending that I haven't enjoyed. If by chance you are there on a night when they have live music, you will definitely feel the extra addition to your night was something you did not want to miss. Whether you parade upstairs to be close to the melodies or let the party filter the musical talents down to you in the main dining area, you'll find it only adds an extra touch of liveliness to your night. One of my favorite places to eat ribeye steak! And the duck tender appetizer is amazing. But my all time favorite is the lamb lollichops drizzled with a fig reduction sauce. Makes me want to lick the plate! I don't care for the tomato salad that comes as a side, but I changed out with the wedge salad and enjoyed every bite! read more

New fine dining in rural Mississippi. Great potential, so will look forward to more stars, but 3 for now with room to grow. Staff is extremely friendly. Nice wine selection. Monotone decor with some amazing wood trim could use some increased lighting, artwork, perhaps. Bar set up is very nice. Had reservations but was seated in bar table area, which was a little loud. I was a little put off by the character who showed up in a camo hunting cap lingering at the bar. That hat wasn't removed while dining! Menu selection was okay. Duck tenders seemed processed, but okay. Wedge salad was very fresh and tasty. I had the surf and turf. Friends had the soft shell crab entrée and 8oz ribeye. Friend who ordered soft shell didn't care for its mushiness. May have not been served timely while it was hot. Owner graciously agreed to take this off of our tab. There's an amazing attached space for larger, catered events, which is converted from an old southern baptist church. It's a hilarious thumb in the eye of the evangelicals who may not approve of drinking, much less in a "church!" Lighten up, bible thumpers, it's a restaurant and event space, not a holier-than-thou sanctuary any longer!!! Wow...it's been at least 12 years since I have been to The Mallard. I remembered having a really great meal back then. I was not disappointed this time either with the quality of the food. A group of us decided to dine outside in the courtyard since the weather was so pleasant and they had a band gearing up. Our service was a bit slow and I'm sure that had to do with the number of people coming in. There were several people going around topping off waters & teas so that was helpful because our server was pretty busy. We ordered a couple of drinks and appetizers (crab cakes, wedge salad and duck tenders) and they were all great. The crab cakes were exceptionally good. My mom and I shared a sea bass dish and the rest of our table ordered filets. The food was great so no complaints there and came out in a timely manner. The only reason I bumped this down to a 3 star was the band was so incredibly loud that we had to shout in each other's ears. You could only hear the person next to you and not someone across the table. I'd definitely come back but I would not sit outside on a band night. read more

It's a nice atmosphere. Ordered a medium rare steak. Received the steak with a large cut throughout it. I'm guessing to make sure it was done to correct temperature. We couldn't wait to try the new Mallard. We loved the old restaurant and the funky vibe in the bar. The new facility is beautiful. The decor is understated and very modern. The menu is somewhat limited. The one page menu contains about 3 appetizers, one salad and about 4 entrees and one sandwich. The wait staff is well trained and very professional. The owner is also very attentive. The food was served promptly and was well prepared. My wife had the lamb appetizer and wedge salad and I had a hamburger and Mallard fries. Both were delicious. The waitress didn't ask how I wanted my burger cooked and it came out well done. I would have preferred medium. Summing up, the decor is beautiful ( I still miss the funky bar and walrus). The wait staff and manager are very professional and attentive. The food is innovative and well prepared. I guess my only complaint is the menu could contain more choices, especially in the salad and entree departments. Some nightly specials would be nice too. Since we are so close to the gulf coast, I would have liked to see more seafood and maybe a Cajun dish on the menu. In summary, I love the new Mallard, but still miss some menu items from the old place and the funky bar. read more

I had dinner with my wife at the Mallard on 10/16/2019. Service was excellent My wife really enjoyed the halibut. Unfortunately my experience was not as good. The scallops were served in a sauce that at best tasted terrible. After a couple of bites I found a long black hair in my mouth. I chalked it us as "can happen anywhere". Unfortunately after a couple more bites I found another long black hair. It was a special occasion for us and I didn't make a scene or even tell the waitress. I will never go back there again and do not recommend it. I rated the restaurant as 2 stars because of my wife's food and the service. read more

I ordered the Grilled Mahi Mahi with seasonal vegetables and red potatoes. It was the best Mahi Mahi I have ever eaten. It was not fishy tasting at all. The flavor was delicious. My husband ordered the scallops over fettuccini. He really liked his food too. The service was excellent. The restaurant is beautiful and clean. A charming gem of a unique restaurant experience on the outskirts of the McComb/Summit, MS area. The current building is a replacement for the former restaurant that burned. Obviously an old church, the interior is decorated in a charming, cosy, minimal, modern ambiance, juxtaposed with unique accents like a big horned animal head and a pirogue turned into a chandelier. There is even a nod to the the former life of the building with a large angel statue. Warmly greeted with a handshake, we had a choice of the many tables in the bar area or the soaring space in the dining room. We choose a comfortable booth/chair option in the dining room. Service was quick, friendly and professional. The bread brought to the table was very good, although only barley warm. Cocktails were good. The menu is short, but there is an interesting variety and almost everyone should be able to find something to suit their taste. We ordered the duck strips as an appetizer. Delicious! Crispy, tender, moist with just a bit of a kick to the sauce-not at all overwhelming, just flavorful. My husband had the day's fish special grilled with veggies on the side. Just a hint of an outdoor woodsy flavor. After much debate between several entrees, I chose the house specialty Chicken Vincent. They willingly swapped the regular side of spinach for grilled asparagus and I did have the delicious Alfredo. Moist, tender with a delicious thick sauce, I loved the dish. Although the bread pudding had received rave reviews, I don't know how it could be any better than the cheesecake we finished off our meal with. All in all, a wonderful dining experience! read more

Went here for a work dinner party and you know at a fancier type restaurant you expect serving sizes food and what not but it's usually really good and this was not the case .. I got the pasta and it was just noodles with olive oil on it now sauce at all very disappointed:/ Not worth the money for sure ! read more

I called to speak with management about renting it out for my wedding. It took five days of calling to get in touch with them and when I finally did he got rude when I told him my wedding was on a holiday and said he would call me back within an hour and he never called back. I've never eaten there but just that one simple phone call made it to where I'll never go. read more
