Small fish plate was more than enough for two persons as the servings are large. I heard the hush puppies were suppose to be really good. For me, not so much. Lack flavor and a bit too greasy for me. Driving thru MS and tried The Fish Fry for supper. I highly recommend taking a detour for some good down home cooking. The best hush puppies, collared greens and fried catfish. The locals love this place because between take out orders and people coming in to eat this place can get busy. Great service even with they were short 3 servers. Delicious catfish! We were in town for the weekend. As obvious visitors, the staff was extremely courteous and overly determined to see that we enjoyed our meal. Very large portions. Been eating catfish all my life, so I'm particular about it. Sometimes you can get some really good stuff, and then sometimes it has a funky/dirty taste or the batter is way off. Not here!! They have some delicious catfish and all the fixings are just as delicious too!!! Listen here, their greens??? Off the freakin' chain!! We rolled in a little after 1PM on a Thursday per a local's recommendation, so we were just missing the (what I'm sure is the usual) lunch crowd. The prices are great, we are a family of 4 that ate for $40 WITH a tip. The catfish is yummy and doesn't have the 'wild' river taste that some do. The sides were great, the hushpuppies stood out as delicious! My husband and daughters enjoyed the greens. One of the worst places to eat in Brookhaven. Been to eat at this place about 8 times in the 10 years I have been in the area. Half the time the tablecloths are either sticky or coated in grease. The food isn't good. Got a steak and it was half grizzle. The fish is either over cooked. Or taste like the grease hasn't been changed in way too long. The wait staff never comes to see if you need a refill on your drink. You have to basically almost yell at them to get their attention. Avoid unless you want crap food and service. read more

Cute little ma, and pop place! If you want Mississippi seafood, and atmosphere definitely come here! Unfortunately it's only opened a couple days of the week. Also, it's off the beaten path. It's past town, and down it's own little street next to a park, but if you have a phone with maps, or know somebody local they can tell you where it's at! If you're traveling it is a little ways from the interstate but it's worth it. Their fried pickles are amazing, and po-boys are fantastic. I have issues with po-boys at most places cause they seem to "fancy" them up, or make them hard to eat by piling so much stuff on them.. which defeats the purpose cause it's a sandwich! Saying that they do it right here! Service always seem to be on point! It's always busy, so for the amount of work the waitresses have to do, they handle it great. Highly recommend. read more

Visited here on Friday night straight up 7:00. Place was packed!! We had no trouble getting a table. The decor itself is late 1990's and not in a nostalgic sort of way. It's kind of like fancy truck stop. Don't worry about the decor just order something and enjoy. Fried dill pickles to start aren't a bad idea. Popcorn shrimp is great. So I know this is a fish place and who orders steak at the fish house but we did. Actually my husband and I shared a steak. It was cooked perfectly to order and more than enough to share. Could have used a little more salt but that's just my preference. Our server Tasha was on task. She didn't bother us but appeared just as we needed her with more drinks and the ticket. Insanely good food. Large portions. Pleasant/attentive staff. CHEAP! Worth fining it from the interstate or wherever you are. Just go there! I could not believe our experience. We decided because of the rating and were not disappointed. This is the real deal fry house with picnic sized squeeze condiment bottles and homemade tartar sauce on the table. The menu is extensive even down to several types of pie. 5 big pieces of catfish filet for $11.99 perfectly seasoned in cream meal (a fine yellow cornmeal)--you taste all of the Mississippi grown catfish. No Yankee hush puppies here like at some places or Capt D's--these are traditional yellow. The coleslaw is old school homemade like your Southern Mama's; its milky, sweet, vinegary and salted and black peppered to perfection with a hint of onion. Excuse me for tipping the bowl over and drinking the juice down in public. Its that good and that kinda place. One big open space with no frills tables or chairs but comfortable seating none the less. Keep an eye out cause there is no sign. It is on the old drab mustard colored industrial aluminum building with enclosed waiting add-on on the side of the road next to the mechanic shop. It does say Fish Fry in single raised letters beneath the eave. Just look for all the cars. They don't belong to the auto shop, they are the customers piled thick in a large lot opposite of the mechanics. They gave us 15% off my ticket because I was a Veteran on Memorial Day weekend. Maybe they have it all the time I don't know but I appreciated it and was a little embarrassed because the food was so cheap and good. Original price was less than $30 with iced tea for 2 dinners. I now drive over an hour just to eat here. I hope the good folks of Brookhaven don't mind, but for God's sake please tell the Yankees this is what REAL Southern fish fry is--so don't miss it! read more
