This project was not an exciting "Lets update our 20 year old bathroom and make it stylish and pretty". Instead the project started due to an undetected leak, the stress that comes from random water leaking in random places, and was filled with questions and concerns. Countless others "assured" me that this was a plumbing issue or just due to some neglected maintenance on a 5 year old new-install shower - and then wanted to blast holes everywhere to "find" the leak. At the same time, I did not want to rip apart a shower to then find out it might be plumbing and now a full on repair. I felt overwhelmed in making the wrong choice and doing 2 projects chasing my tail. Lucas walked me through all the typical scenarios that he has seen, leaning on the most probably is a structural fail of the shower system and then did a methodical exploration. A couple hours later and a minimal demo, he confirmed that it was in fact not plumbing related and was def. a failure of the shower system -- and walked me through what it would take. Once his team was onsite, they were focused - creating a whole "clean room" at the entry to the bathroom. 1 day demo, 1 day water-proof, 2 days tile - all while providing the proper time for dry-out and leak testing between steps. Lucas is a perfectionist, being critical on the most minor details -- which to someone that also strives for this level, but has no idea what they are looking for, was very much appreciated. Additionally, he has instilled this value in his team - that are true craftsman with their skill. Each step of the process was walked through, discussed, and made sure we understood the task, goal, and expectations. This is why I say Lucas/Soma Tile was a true partner in this project, as it wasn't a fun project -- it was an overwhelming stressful start where Soma Tile helped take some of the burden and concerns off our shoulders and work it through with their own expertise, experience, and dedication - ensuring every step was executed with precision. I bought the backsplash last year in the early fall and hired contractors to install. It turned out they have no idea how to work on glass tiles. The tile saw they had chipped the glass paint so badly that I have to let them stop after a few cut. It was a complete failure. Then I tried to install by myself, another failure. I hired another contractor in early Sep, another failure again. I was desperate. Lila tile was almost my last resort. If they can't do it, then I have no idea where I can go next. Luckily, Gabriella responded to me. She came to my house, took a few pix and a few pieces of the glass tile. She went home and sent back the pix of the cut Dudek made with his saw. I was so excited - the cut was much cleaner than all the ones anybody else made in the past. And their price quote is very reasonable. Without a doubt, I chose them to do the job. Ludek is very easy and friendly to work with. He is very patient and pays very good attention to the detail. He came up with an idea to make the outlet panel fit into the tile trim; he replaced the scratched pieces without a complaint; He did every touch up we asked for. And the list goes on. By the end of the job the finished look exceeded my expectation. He never came back. He said he would drop something off that night, but never did. He never answered his phone again. I paid him 2/3 of his price and he disappeared without even having the old tile fully removed. It cost me more than his initial quote to have someone else come and finish the job. I don't think this business exists anymore, but just in case, I'm going to leave this review to say DO NOT HIRE this contractor. And if you do, do not pay anything in advance.

Dave gave me a huge education on proper installation of a shower pan and membrane. He probably spent an hour with me telling me what I needed to know and showing me easier options like Wedi or the Superior drain systems. While these products are significantly more expensive than a concrete and rubber liner, they are easier to install. I opted to go with the Superior system and had my drain pan cut out and laid in place in about an hour. But a couple nights later, after mortaring everything in place and installing the drain itself I noticed a problem with the drain and how it was seating. It was not good and I couldn't see anything I had done wrong. I sent pictures and video to Dave and my sales guy, Mel. At 11:30 at night Dave answered me that he'd be over in the morning to figure out a resolution. Today Dave probably spent about 60 to 90 minutes working on more problem and figure out the root cause of the issue. It was not something I had done wrong but possibly a problem with the unit itself. He's trying to figure out a resolution now but he told me that if all else fails, they would rip out the drain pan I have and install a new one at their cost. He said, "That is the way we do business." This is a place that goes above and beyond normal customer service and goes the extra mile for their customers. They are great!
