Hello, I'm reaching…read moreout because I'm extremely disappointed with the customer service I received today at Club Studio Walnut Creek. I had booked a class for today and had only recently added it to my schedule. Unfortunately, one of my staff members had an emergency and had to leave, which unexpectedly changed my plans and made it impossible for me to attend. I called the club to explain the situation and simply asked if they would make a one-time courtesy exception and waive the $10 cancellation fee. I completely understand that cancellation policies exist, but given the circumstances--and the fact that I had just booked the class--I felt that a one-time courtesy waiver was a very reasonable request. What was especially disappointing was that the person I spoke with didn't even make an effort to ask a manager or see if anything could be done. At this point, it really isn't about the $10. It's about the principle and the customer service experience. I have also referred more than five people to Club Studio, and I was told that I would receive a $25 credit when someone joined. To date, I have not received those referral credits either. So when I'm a loyal customer and actively refer people to the club, I would expect a little more effort and consideration when I have an unusual situation and make a reasonable request. I'm disappointed that a simple request for a one-time courtesy exception was handled this way, especially without anyone even attempting to escalate it to a manager. I would appreciate having someone in management review this situation, including the missing referral credits, and follow up with me. Thank you.

The check-in process was seamless, and I really appreciated that they provide cycling shoes without an extra fee, which is a rare find. Our instructor, Paisley, had incredible energy and made the entire session so much fun. I especially loved the playlist--she played a perfect mix of hip-hop and R&B that kept the vibe high. My only critique is that I wish there were a few more instructions for beginners, particularly on how to set up and adjust the bike to your size, as I struggled with that part. Aside from that, it was a fantastic workout. I'm already planning to come back with friends next time and grab brunch at one of the nearby spots afterward!

"What--I Missed the Grand Opening?"…read more Well I walked into this place, not exactly knowing what it was all about. They've just been open a week or so and they already have 20 classes per week. I had the opportunity to chat with the owner as well as one of the instructors. They're really nice people and can help you set up your workouts. They were kind enough to give me a tour of the whole facility, and explain how the classes work. They have a have a brand new cycling room with brand new cycles. Naturally, they are completely adjustable, and you clip yourself in. The sequence for each cycling classe is the same--that is, you can be confident that your workout will be similar, no matter who the instructor is. Naturally, the instructors get the riding music going to keep you all motivated! To my astonishment, there are no contracts here! It is $125 per month, for as many workouts as you can handle. What a pleasant surprise to not have a contract! Naturally, the classes are open to either men or women. A special note: During the class, you're not competing against anyone else--you're just concentrating on doing your own work out. You clip in and the instructor gets you off on your ride! It is deliberately a dim environment during the ride; that way you can concentrate on your own workout. They have a towel at each station, and light weights, because they are also going to do some upper body exercise. That makes for a nice complete workout. I should also mention that they have a kids area right off the main entryway. The charge is $6 per child. But you can buy a set of 10 which brings it down to $5. Believe it or not, there is no age limit whatsoever on the child. You can bring in anyone. (Well maybe not Grandma.) I had a chance to talk with the owner of StarCycle, and she explained they are running a promotion for one free trial class. I'm signing up today! I really enjoyed visiting this facility and getting to know more about starcycle. Classy, friendly people.

It's been a hot minute since I attended a spin class. I discovered this place recently and wanted…read moreto check it out. I had Danica as the instructor and she was bubbly high energy throughout the whole class. Her music is hip-hop/club which is my cup of tea (though if I wanted to be nitpicky I wish there were newer songs on the playlist). She's definitely a fan of sprints and jump choreography lol. Choreography in this class in general was fairly straightforward; for beginners there is enough repetition to eventually get a handle of it. The class is pretty much 90% in the dark so no need to stress if you're lagging behind any pro spinners around you. There is no fitness statistics shown at the end of class (my preference, but I know there are people who want to be competitive). Music is as loud as the music at a dance club (my preference as well, but could be too much for some people). Maybe it's because I took a 5:45 PM weekday class but every person who attended the class skedaddled out of the studio quickly once class ended; at other spin studios I usually see at least a couple people linger and chat with the instructor for a few minutes. I wanted to thank Danica for the class but she was nowhere to be found once I was about ready to leave lol. Maybe it's just not how things work around here. Overall I enjoyed the class. Definitely recommend if you're curious on taking a spin class. It's $15 for the first class. Parking wasn't hard to find (it is located in the midtown-y part of Danville but there are a few parking spots right at the entrance of the studio and there is a whole public parking lot across the street from it).

"This studio is beautiful," I said. She smiled. "The community is beautiful, too." She was right. Not all the light came from neon. The Guide: Anne * Hot Power Vinyasa Anne began by sharing something the yogis understood: Place your focus on the breath, and the mind can rest. She reminded us: This is a breathing practice; the breath, our anchor. Surya Namaskara A linked breath to movement. Then movement became a slow-moving dance. Pyramid led to Airplane. Airplane led to One-Legged Mountain. One-Legged Mountain led to Standing Hand-to-Big-Toe Pose. And on and on we went. As we moved and held poses in the dark blue room, Anne kept bringing us back: Breathe. Create space with the breath. The Tribe: At the close, Anne thanked us for being there, for practicing together as part of this beautiful community. The words resonated. Later, in the locker room, women laughed and talked as they gathered their belongings. Some were doubling up and heading into another class. Others were talking about their weekend plans together. Class had ended. The connection hadn't. The Space & Place: TruFusion feels wonderfully playful: Bold pop-art murals. Neon lights along the hallways. Polished concrete floors carrying the glow from room to room. Open cubbies lining the walkways. And the yoga room: Large. Mirrored. Warm. Floating white globe lights. Bonus: Your first class is FREE. And for that first visit: * Mat provided * Mat towel provided * Face towel provided * Free parking in the garage next door (head to the 3rd floor) Field Note: Breath powered the practice; the people lit it up.

Upon arrival we walked in and it was so empty in the front room. We waited a while and peeked around at the merch but no one came to the desk and the class was starting soon so we wandered into the back. We found the only room with silks hanging and entered, the instructor was incredibly off-putting and cold. She didn't welcome us, or even look at us when we approached her to intro ourselves. She scolded us for not checking in properly even though no one was in the building to tell us. She put my friend and I in far apart spots and when we requested to be near each other she huffed. The class itself is a whole lot of fun. Being new to using silks, the instructor explained the movements well and I felt confident in executing new moves. After she felt out the class she even walked us through a more advanced upside down movement. There was one student who was clearly very advanced in aerial yoga/acrobatics so the instructor had him do the majority of the demonstrations.

I have attended classes at all four locations. I chose to try Joya because it offers Bikram Yoga, Circuit, HIIT, and more! All of the facilities are amazing. Their facilities are always clean and I love that three locations have showers. I enjoy attending 5:45 AM and 6:00 AM classes. The instructors are always energetic and excited to teach! , Considering most of us get up at like 4:45-5:00 AM to be at class by 6:00 AM. I have attended a few weekend classes which there is a ton of availability at all locations. I personally love how intense the HIIT/Pilates and Jcircuit classes are. I really get a total body workout in those classes. I love that Joya offers HOT Bikram in 60min, 75 min, and 90min sessions. I do one of those classes once a week. Bikram has done wonders for my health since I started doing it in. 2014. If you are looking to change up your routine, or to try something new. I highly recommend you doing a one month trial for $39.00 with Joya! I'm rating Joya 5 stars because of the classes they offer, the facilities, and my personal experiences with staff and instructors! There are 3 different classes that have no real distinction other than the strength class does 3 arm workouts. You'll get bored real quick. My grievance with this studio is their lack of communication unless it's time to collect their fees. I sent a request to freeze my membership and then I decided I wanted to cancel my membership altogether. Their policy to cancel requires 30 day notice. I sent my request to cancel on 7/29, 31 days before I would next be billed. I did not get any response. I sent a text message 7/31 asking someone to respond to my cancellation and the person who responded told me that the cancellation begins when the email is sent, not when I get a response. So I thought, okay well I'll just wait. I sent a follow up email on 8/23 and asked to confirm the cancellation and not to charge me on 8/29, no response. Come 8/29, collection day, lo and behold someone responds telling me that I've defaulted on my membership. Their justification is that they are a small business and don't "allow" members to go from a freeze to a cancellation. Said I still need to pay. Their policy does not specifically say that. I agree to pay and finish off my membership but requested they give me in writing they will cancel my membership effective 9/29 and I will not be charged. I still haven't heard back from them. Someone named Josh replied with a blank message. So if you're reading this Amrita, I'm still waiting for that confirmation. Now another, "not in the policy" benefit I was privied to was that I can text after the 12 hour window that I need to cancel my class without penalty. So today, traffic was especially terrible and I was going to be late for my 5:30pm class, so what do I do? I text at 4:30 that I need cancel. I've done this at least 3 times in the past without issue. Surprise surprise, their response received at 5:42pm: "Hi Joleen! Today we started our enforcement of our late cancel policy as you notified us within the 12 hour window. There will be a $15 late cancellation fee. In the future, in order to avoid this late cancel fee, you would have to let us know more than 12 hours in advance. We look forward to seeing you in class soon." Just today they are starting to enforce it. I sent a request asking for them to consider waiving the fee as it's just being enforced today. I think they blocked my number. Message failed to send. The instructors aren't terrible but whoever AMRITA is in the company, don't trust her. I've learned my lesson with this company and I won't be dumb enough to give them any more of my money. Good luck.
