I have been going to Cyclebar Castro Valley for about a year and three months now, and the journey here has been nothing but amazing. I began with the 8 class monthly membership pack, just enough to make it to Olivia's 5:30 AM classes twice a week (commuting all the way from SF to do so lol). As I moved back to the East Bay, I bumped it up to the unlimited membership package, and it was the best decision. First off, each and every instructor at CB truly pour their hearts and efforts in every class. The playlists are perfect for the high intensity moves, the stat board/races create a friendly competitive environment (for those who wish to participate), and their uplifting demeanor/hilarious commentary really sets them apart from other cycling studios I've tried prior to this one. Amrita has really taken her time on selecting and bringing in nothing but the best for this studio. Second, the CB community here is sosososo genuine and I am incredibly appreciative to have a group of people in my life who uplift one another in our fitness journeys. Between the front desk CB staff, to the other members of this studio, everyone really makes you feel welcome. Post-class coffee meetups are shared, milestones are always celebrated, they even took the time to set up a surprise mini baby shower for my sister, Jessica... like where can you find a group of people like that!! And that is just to name a few of the things that I've experienced in a short amount of time here. Third, more of a personal observation, is the positive exponential effect Cyclebar Castro Valley has taken on my overall well-being. I've noticed so many lifestyle changes on my day to day mental and physical health, and I couldn't be more excited to keep this momentum going. I am long overdue for writing a review expressing my gratitude for CB, but I am extremely thankful for having Cyclebar Castro Valley nearby that checkmarks all the boxes I look for in a group fitness studio (high intensity, passionate instructors, strong community, cleanliness, a wide range of class times, staff responsiveness, etc.). Do not be fooled by their fake niceness when you first sign up for the membership. This place is a scam. The people who work here are inept and can't remember things they've told you. They will NOT apologize for making a mistake and make you pay for something you had not agreed to. Even if it's their mistake, they will gaslight you into thinking you were the one who was mistaken. They will not own up for making a mistake and put the onus on you. The manager literally threatened to report me to the credit bureau and proceeded to continue patronizing me on the phone and denied ever agreeing to the terms we discussed. Her threats and tone were so uncalled for that I am literally scared reporting this. She could have easily apologized and fixed their mistake, and I would have continued with the membership. Then her business would have made more money rather than threatening me and denying what we had agreed upon just so she can squeeze an additional month of membership $ from me. If you are going to communicate and sign up for classes with them, I recommend you either record the calls or sign up via email or else they will deny having the conversation or twist your words. read more

I just completed 25 rides last night, so I felt compelled to write a review. After moving to the area, the drive to Soul Cycle didn't really make sense, so I decided to give Cyclebar a try. My first visit was great (I walked out signing up with a class pack). The staff was really welcoming, and my instructor, Carmen was super sweet. They decorate the locker for you on your first ride and walk you through the entire process of how it works. I was intimidated with the stats at first, but it's fun and adds a challenge to the ride. You can even track your stats in the app, which helps a lot when looking for ways to improve. The variety of classes is great too -- I've been enjoying the strength rides a lot lately because it gives your arms a good workout. The atmosphere here is really great and in comparison to other cycling classes I've taken, it's very inclusive! The pricing is reasonable and they offer really good class packs/unlimited ride membership options. I started out with a 4-pack and quickly ended up with an unlimited membership. The facilities are super clean, the front desk staff is always friendly, and there are some fun theme rides I've taken. Every instructor I've had has truly been great, but I really love taking classes with Carmen and Sasha. Highly recommend trying a class out here if you've been thinking about it! read more

I didn't know Cyclebar was in the back and had some trouble finding it... :( I ended up being a little late to my first class, which was with Jessica on a Sunday morning. Class itself was fine. Fun, challenging, and ok music. Maybe it was a good thing I was late because someone near my bike bathed in perfume where every breath I took, I tasted their dusty perfume in my mouth! I was nauseous the whole class and not having a good time. I told the front desk of this and they said it might be their cleaner. No. Cleaner doesn't smell musky and baby powder-y like some perfume. There was no further discussion on packages/class rates and class experience after my feedback. Not sure if I'd come back. read more

I've only done 5 rides so far at Cycle Bar and I can already say I love it! I signed up for their Black Friday promo membership to let me know if I truly can make it work despite it being far from me. I come from Fremont so you know Cycle Bar is awesome! Every time that I've gone I'm always left with such a feeling of accomplishment. I feel so much lighter and just ready to tackle the day. I really hope they consider opening one up in the TriCities. All the instructors really encourage you to push yourself but without overdoing it also. Every class is so much full of life especially since the classes I've taken are early in the morning. The staff really seem to like to be there and are always so helpful. The music they choose for the classes are always great and perfect to keep the energy going. The gym has two bathrooms, lockers, cycling shoes to use and also towels are no extra cost. It's only one room which is perfect to be honest. It's close to the Castro Valley Marketplace, parking is easy to access. They also do cycling rides with Banda which hopefully I'm able to try sometime. read more

I am not a cycler myself, but when I saw this studio open, I had to give it a chance! So happy they are in Castro Valley! There is plenty of parking and in a prime location. The app and plenty of class times each day makes it so easy to book and plan, even with a busy schedule. The owner and studio manager are the sweetest, and the instructors are incredible 100/10. Shout out to my girls Jessica, Zaria, Mel, and Sam! 45 min goes by so fast. The studio itself is very clean, with lockers and shoes to use. I've been going for a month now, and the instructors really push you hard. Each class has high energy, good music (I caught a 2000s hip hop themed class), and an arm workout. It's a full body workout, not to mention you compete with others in class with a leader board that you can opt into. The competition motivates me. With October being their official opening, I'm looking forward to more themed rides and different formats! read more

Listen. I haven't worked out in yearssss... I was on maternity leave with my 3rd baby and needed to do something for myself. I've never rode before.. I saw an ad on Facebook for a free ride, and I decided to give it a try. The first day was a little difficult and intimidating... because you got all these people peddling while off their seat. And here I was just sitting there because I couldn't do it. Im not going to lie, I WASNT going to come back and was thinking of yoga instead. But Amrita stopped me before I was leaving and asked about my ride and why I tried it out. I told her my situation and afterwards we just bonded. I decided to try out the membership for 8 rides a month - I mean... I could just cancel right? If I didn't like it? Anyway - fast forward I'm 4 months in yall - I got more stamina and I feel soo good about myself... I am able to ride off my seat now haha!.. Im not one to gatekeep but Zaria's class is my favorite. Dont be overbooking her! If you do, keep 1 seat for me! Her music is always on point and she's super motivating! If anything I would recommend doing a connect class if you're starting out... because you're not focused on what gears you're on and the stats on the board.... its just more motivating to ride when you're comfortable! I used to love this place - I was a founding member and loved 4 of the instructors-the schedule was changed so I could not attend my favorite instructors classes any longer and found the others boring ( including the owners class) this location caters the young clientele with a lot of rap music and certain genres of music for younger people. But 4 of them are great and mix it up. I broke my foot about a 8 months ago and asked to suspend my membership. I called several times and Manager was was rude about it and it really hurt me the way it was handled ( or should I say not handled) no one ever checked in on me or cared while I was out nor did they help me to suspend membership The last straw was that there was roadwork and the parking was a nightmare as usual so I got to the studio 2 min late and manager did not let me in class Even though I called to say what happened and was in my way - I have never been late prior! I walked in was putting in my shoes and she told me to hurry up then They would not let me enter the class and treated me like a second class citizen so rude! They say it's a safety issue however when you're in class and it's pitch black with music so loud, they allow people to jump off the bike early and walk out before class is finished...but yet they say it's not safe to enter the the class after 1st song.... due to safety????Made no sense!!! And instead Of Owner apologizing for the way I was treated... when she saw me walking into class another day she choose to speak to me about it loudly in front of everyone in the lobby and walking into class trying to defend what happened and making me late going into class... but that was ok I guess since she was the one making me late this time! I paid for my membership and my daughters and had been loyal to Cycle Bar before they even opened! I really took this Personal my daughter and I joined because she was getting married and we wanted to get in shape which we did because instructors (well a few of them) are great! Cole, Vanessa, Olivia & Carmen Thank you instructors you were the best part of our journey! It's a shame that the owner is all about money and not customer service (especially to loyal customers like myself) After one thing led to another ( including my founding membership "special pricing" that the owner promised she would never offer to again after the studio opened and then did!) I've been going to CycleBar Castro Valley weekly for a couple of months now, and I absolutely love it! It's become the place where I show up for myself, both physically and mentally. From the moment you walk in, the staff is incredibly friendly and supportive, and the studio is always spotless--such a welcoming environment. I love this place. I've been coming for almost a year. All the instructors are supportive and encouraging. I love being part of the community!! It's a safe space and a judgment free space. Everyone is made comfortable. You are encouraged to focus on yourself and leave the outside world outside for 45 minutes. All my rides are challenging but the instructors' energy makes you want to push a little harder and give a little more. I am glad that I found CycleBar. I highly recommend everyone give it a try. It's weird for me to see some of the negative ratings and comments about staff being rude or the contracts and memberships. I have never had a bad experience with any staff member. I have a membership that is wonderful because it works for me and the contract is simple and self explanatory. I signed up for a 12 month commitment. They are continuing to make attempts to charge my card after the twelve months. It has been very difficult to contact them. I'm always told that the manager is not available. Buyer's please beware!
