I am new to fitness classes and new to Pure Barre. I chose Pure Barre after chatting with a friend who attended classes. I was looking for a cross training activity to help me improve my balance, flexibility, and strength, especially in my core. These classes check all of those boxes! That said, I have been delighted to find such a welcoming place full of capable, friendly, and patient instructors who are willing to help me learn and improve my form. The Pleasanton studio is clean and well organized and it is easy to schedule or change classes through their app. But really, the people who teach the classes, and those who attend them, make a difference with their positivity and encouragement. A bonus benefit (for me at least) is the mental workout I get too. I need to focus and concentrate during the workouts; both on getting my form correct and on the instructions given during the class. I like the variety of class formats offered and the ever-changing exercises done within each class. The variety keeps things fresh and helps me stay engaged and challenged. I want to stay fit and healthy as I age and Pure Barre classes will help me do just that. read more

This place will always hold a special place in my heart bc it's the first place I joined when I commited to my fitness journey. I even brought my mom along with me for a free class. This workout is extremely challenging but I felt my core getting stronger + it's FUN. I had to cancel my membership bc of expenses, but I plan on rejoining this summer because I miss it so very much. If you're looking for a judgment free / low impact exercise, this is the place. Whether you are looking to improve strength, balance, flexibility, or cardio, with PB's mix of class types you can get a well-rounded fitness experience. All the instructors have great energy, and help you (safely) push yourself. Eric, Taylor and Hannah are great! Alita (front desk) is warm and informative. Only con is you get charged if you have to cancel on short notice or otherwise can't make a class you booked. I understand why it's done, but it's a consequence applied on top of already having the unfortunate experience of missing out on a class you had wanted to go to. And don't show up late, because you will not be getting in. Overall, I'm so happy I tried PB and it's been really helpful with getting me back on track with my fitness journey. My exercise regimen is more consistent now, and much more well-rounded. I had a great first class here! The 50 minutes breezed by, as I was engaged the full time. The studio is clean and nicely updated. This location has open storage cubbies and a changing room. Grippy socks are recommended, but normal socks are allowable as well! read more

Ok WOW! I've been to a lot of fitness studios (and worked at several!) and I had such a great experience here! The instructor was incredibly kind and welcoming and gave me a quick tutorial on the lingo so I wouldn't be lost during class! The studio is clean and inviting and they have a nice retail area as well. Amazing workout- I was so sore the next day! I had so much fun here. A great low impact workout that you will feel the next day (in a good way!). I'll be back and recommend you check it out too! read more

I want to share my great experience with pure barre (pleasanton).. and shout out for the fantastic instructors and very welcoming staff. Its been my successful 2 months at pure barre and i feel strong already. I had a sedentary lifestyle so I wanted to start some fitness routine. I liked the pure barre format so took the trial class. First class was pretty hard on me but the kind of support I received was incredible that kept me going. Now, I look forward for the class and enjoy the different forms they offer- classic, define, reform, empower and align... each are pretty unique and gives good jolt to body (in a good way :)) I feel accomplished and energized after every class. I really like this studio! The instructors are full of energy! The studio is so clean and updated. I find the exercises I do at Pure Barre help me so much to build/tune/strengthen my muscles. I'm very sad to leave this studio because I was moving out of the area, but because of my great experience at this studio, I actually joined another one that's close to me now. I have to say... the new one doesn't have as good a facility (yet). I do miss the energy at this studio. I found the exercise is extremely beneficial for me. This is a great studio!! I don't live in California, but I was in the area and was happy to see there was a pure barre conveniently located and they let me sign up for a week package which was perfect for what I needed. There were a lot of package options, and overhearing the staff with other customers they seemed to really try to find the best option for someone's needs. I only stuck with the classic class for the week, but they were offering empower and define throughout the week. I signed up with 3 different instructors and was able to repeat with a few of them. Jasleen had high energy throughout the class which was really motivating. I feel like her classes would be what I would want at the start or end of a day when I'm tired and the higher energy coaching helps. Celine was super warm and friendly and had great instructions. The last class I had with Hannah I really enjoyed. She switched things up a bit more with a little more complicated set ups, I think Hannah's classes would be fun to change things up from the more routine sets. Overall everyone was so welcoming and encouraging. Despite not having worked out in a while, it was a positive environment to start working out again. It seemed like the classes had people that were completely new to pure barre and others that had been taking class for years and a large range of ages. I really liked the setup of the studio. I've dropped into classes in cities during work trips, and some places are doing the best with the space they have, but are a bit wonky. Like the room is an odd shape or there are random support structures in the middle of the room. Instead this location, the space to workout is one continuous room so it's easy to see the instructor the whole time. When first walking into the studio, there's a good amount of retail to look through and plenty of socks to pick up :) There were cubies to keep stuff at the front and towards the back. I think they locked the front doors while class was going on, so everyone's stuff is safe. There was a changing room and bathroom. All the equipment besides the matts were stored outside the workout room. Instead of the traditional wrist weights they had bala bangles! I haven't seen that at any of the other locations. When I used to take empower I had started to bring my own, since i felt like the regular wrist weights at most studios were a bit uncomfortable. I was so surprised to see the bala bangles available. The whole studio seemed fresh and clean, so it makes sense that they are investing in the equipment too. I am highly jealous of this location, it was awesome. Coming from a city where street parking is a nightmare, it was great to see there was easy parking in a complex that felt super safe and convenient to grab groceries or a coffee after haha. Sorry for the lengthy review haha! I rarely post a review, but I always feel like the detailed ones help me the most, so hopefully this info helps someone. I would highly recommend this studio if you live in the area or to just drop in while traveling. read more

I did Barre through both pregnancies, and used it to help my recovery from both... and now use it not just for my physical health, but my mental health too. Varied class formats offered options to focus on strength, resistance, balance, and the combination of all three. I've definitely had to apologize to friends and family members who've encountered the hangry me; and, after my first session at Pure Barre, I had to apologize to my friend and fellow Yelper, Jacque C., for things I said while shaking in the first fifteen minutes of class. We had just finished the planking warm-up (90 seconds!!) when I turned to her and said, "I could kill you." As it turns out, she couldn't hear me over the music, haha, which is really great, by the way - 1) that she didn't hear the comment & 2) that their music is upbeat and fun. I don't remember many of the songs, though, because I was too busy feeling the burn, pulsing, tucking, or at least attempting to, and trying not to pass out. But let's start at the beginning. It was really easy to find the Pure Barre Pleasanton location (right off the freeway), and there was plenty of parking in the public lot. I also really appreciate that it's in the middle of a lot of shops so you can grab a bite to eat before/after. The location itself is fairly small, but it's clean, bright and has all of the necessities (changing room, restroom, area to store personal belongings, some benches in the waiting area, a variety of active wear, etc.). Checking in as first-timer was pretty easy, and Amanda at the front desk was very kind as she got me registered, gave me a brief tour, and went through some of the lingo. The instructor, Nicole, was there early, learned names and was able to encourage everyone by name throughout the duration of the class. Even though there was a full house, she gave personal attention to each person in terms of evaluating, and at times correcting, their form. My favorite quote of the session? "Take the tension out of your face and move it to your core!" - Nicole I really appreciated her sense of humor and ability to challenge all of us. The studio is very clean, well ventilated and kept at a comfortable temperature throughout. I do wish that there were mirrors at the back wall, too, so that students who needed to spill over could have the option to go there instead of the front and sides. At the end of the session, Nicole handed me a handwritten thank you note and there has been a lot of automatic email follow-up, too. I honestly felt great after the workout - it was both challenging and fun! I think most of the other women in the class had been there before, but that didn't mean everyone could complete each exercise fully; don't be intimidated if it's your first time! The lesson started and ended on time, which I really appreciated since I had to speed to church in San Ramon immediately after. It's the morning after and I feel sore in each of the places PB says it works out - abs, arms, thighs and seat. The Pleasanton location isn't close to where I live, but I'm seriously considering membership at the Berkeley PB location that's BART accessible and just 15 minutes away from where I work. I hate to give them what is probably their only review that's not positive and update my Review from 5 star to 2 star, but there's a reason for that. I went to their 1 year anniversary recently where they were offering free morning classes. Unfortunately for me, it started raining like cats and dogs and what's normally about a half hour drive almost took an hour. Needless to say, when I arrived I was soaking wet and about 15 minutes late to class. I didn't think it would be too big a problem given the circumstances but they wouldn't let me in, claiming I wouldn't get a full workout, even when it was obvious why I was late. They did offer to have me in the next class, but I really didn't want to wait another hour for it to start. When I asked if I could attend another class on another day, the said since this class was free it was only good for that morning. I know I was late but given the circumstances I feel that an exception could have been made. If I'd known this would happen I would have cancelled and not even bothered to show up. I still think they are a great studio,and wanted to support their 1 year anniversary, but given my most recent experience, I won't be back, especially considering that they aren't that close to me anyway. read more

I came here to try out Barre. It was my first class ever, I have never done barre before. I've heard of it and seen it. When I came in, they greeted me and the receptionist was pleasant. She gave me a quick tour of the place and told me what to expect, so I wasn't completely confused. When the class started, the instructor was amazing. She had lots of energy and help adjusted me. I was impressed she knew our names and she was definitely encouraging. Small movements may not seem like much but this workout burns. I love it, it's definitely challenging! Next day, I woke up sore but I love it. I definitely would recommend this place. I feel like the other people in the class are regulars and really like it. Everyone is really supportive as well!! Parking is easy in this structure as well, which is great because you don't have to fight for parking in the city for a barre class. read more

I love Pure Barre Pleasanton! Since my first day coming to pure barre I have felt like this place is a family. I've been going for about 6 months now and I love every instructor there! They always make sure to say your name so you feel included in the family. Every few months they have fun friendly competitions and activities to get you more involved and motivated to come to class. The availability of class times is great and it's very convenient that you can sign up for classes online. I struggled with finding something that I truly love to do for exercise and when I came here I instantly fell in love. It's always a challenge even after 6 months. The structure of the classes works every big muscle group while also incorporating balance and flexibility. It's a great full body workout! I have visited one trial class and I liked it, so I purchased a month admittion with 8 lessons. I was told that the month count will begin with the first time I will come out of 8. I never got an e-mail with a receipt (so I did not have a confirmation of what exactly I signed for) and I thought that I will ask about this when I come next time. However, after that my knee started hurting, so I ended up dealing with this new health problem, assuming that I probably should not do any barre classes for a while or may be never again. After about 3-4 month I finally got an official e-mail notifing me that my card payment did not come through. Imagine my surprise! I found out that I was signed, without my knowledge, on an automatically renewing monthly subscription!!! and I was charged every month even though I never came back! When I have notified the owner about this issue, I was refused a refund and offered a free 8 classes. I have absolutely no use of more classes with my knee situation and I want my money back, since I never thought of subscribing monthly and was not aware of the subscription. Here you go! Be careful signing up on anything there I guess. read more

OK so New Year new me bla bla bla! This place has been literally less than a mile away from my house, so wanted to try it. I have a classpass package and they have all classes and times available, so decided to give it a try! The front desk was very friendly, with a quick check in process. The instructor (Sarina) was very sweet and went over the basics, as I hadn't been to a Pure Barre class before. I thought other barre-type classes I had taken prior would be the same, but NO I was wrong! The class KICKED my butt and I was struggling, hahaha. The good thing was that the studio is spacious so I had plenty of room to struggle, looking at my not so great form in the mirror. Sarina helped out when needed, and the class was definitely a workout. I will definitely come back again if I want to feel great and sore the next day!!! Thanks guys. read more

i was quite nervous about barre because i had never taken barre before. its been about 20 years since i've had formal training in ballet, and 6 months since i've been to yoga. i was completely inflexible. when my girlfriend drove into the new shopping center off bernal, i was instantly excited. it was going to be new, clean, and modern. there's nothing worse than a run-down smelly studio (i've been to my fair share of bikram studios). when i walked in, i was greeted by helpful staff, clean facilities, and new equipment. YES! SCORE! when class started, rene (saturday, 8:30a) was upbeat, but not overly chipper for a saturday morning. she helped adjust my form many times, which i found to be sooo incredibly helpful. the workout was intense, but before i knew it, class was over! i'm used to 90 minutes of sweaty militant hell the bikram studio that i go to, where i find myself staring at the clock to gauge when class would be over... but pure barre is INCREDIBLE. class was intense and the workout was enough to fatigue every last muscle fiber i have but keeping me distracted enough with the awesome music selection and even more impressive instructor. i left completely addicted, and was super bummed that they were closed the next two days for july 4th holiday. i'll be back for more this week!!! read more

I really enjoy coming to this place and the workout. If you're looking for a smaller crowd and where the hour goes by fast, and you feel great after this is your place. Every instructor has a slightly different feel and every class I have taken i would take again. This includes the 6 am and the 7 pm weekday class along with my favorite weekend class in the morning. If you're not familiar with this type of workout, there is no jumping around and combines yoga movements along with ballet and Pilates. You fatigue your legs and back side and feel the burn when your in class. I find myself having to take myself out of a position because of the burn but noticed I am getting better as I continue to go. I have also noticed my arms look leaner, legs look more toned and butt have a better shape over all. I have been going for 3 months and love it. In case your curious .. Fit bit has me at between 410-450 calories for this class. read more

I came to Pure Barre Pleasanton a couple of weeks ago when I was temporarily rooming with my mom. I have Classpass and love the Pure Barre workout. I was excited when I saw a Pleasanton location to try. My standard for Pure Barre is pretty high and the Pleasanton location exceeded any expectation that I had. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The workout was of course, wonderful and the instructor made sure to correct and keep everyone motivated. I even got a sweet handwritten note thanking me for coming to the studio. I will definitely make a stop to Pure Barre Pleasanton whenever I am in the area! read more

I have a love hate relationship with barre classes. It is super intense and my body starts to shake during the workout, but it's definitely worth it the next day when you're all sore. Since I'm on ClassPass, I love being able to go to Purre Barre when I visit my parents. Pure Barre in Pleasanton is awesome. I've only been a few times, but every time the instructor has been pleasant and encouraging. They know who's new and are always mindful of correcting your posture and position as to not hurt yourself and to have the best possible workout. I love that it's always clean and the folks that work there are very nice. I would totally go more often if I lived nearby! read more

Moved to the area and was searching for a fitness studio. I never heard of Pure Barre before. I was more of a yoga or HIIT person. I'm so happy I found this place. The workouts are challenging, instructors check postures and corrects if adjustments are needed. The studio is clean, plenty of parking. My first time taking any barre class was just this morning and was happy to have a girlfriend joining me and Julie teaching! Julie was wonderful and attentive while not being overbearing or pointing out every little thing I was sure not to be doing perfectly. She corrected our form where it was necessary and made it fun for us! It was very challenging even for my friend and I who work out 5 days a week running/cardio and weights. And, although we were shaking from the exhaustion of our muscles, we can't wait to feel the burn tomorrow! The facility is clean, parking is easy and everyone was very friendly! Many different times available for a small studio and the packages seem reasonable in price for a full body workout class. Barre will definitely become a rotation each week in our workout routine just to keep it interesting and challenging!! read more
