I order an Italian Turkey for myself and a Small Turkey Tip for the extra hungry son. So I pay for my food and get my receipt only to find out they charged me for the peppers!!! WHAT FOOD JOINT CHARGES YOU FOR PEPPERS ON AN ITALIAN (WHATEVER) SANDWICH??? The peppers are part of that sandwich. WHO EATS THIS TYPE OF SANDWICH WITHOUT THE DAMN PEPPERS??? So I inquired about this charge and the cook says to me snide like, "yeah, we charge $.30 cents for them". I'm like WOW! So, I curbed my reply and just laughed. Food is great. Every time I order something from here though something goes wrong. Three times now yelp has had to cancel my order because they didn't make the food, gave it to the wrong driver, etc. When it does come I'm always missing something. Jerk sauce that comes with the jerk tacos? Foget it. Au Jus on the side? Nope. This happens even when I do a carryout order. I tried their taco Tuesday special. You get 3 tacos & the 4th one for free, for $7 and some change with no drink and i wasn't pleased at all. To me it wasn't enough flavor, the meat tasted a little funny, I'm guessing because it's turkey meat, but overall it didn't taste or look good. Great friendly service that was prompt and got my order correct. The food was cooked fresh and was made to order, walked in at 12:40 and had my food within 10-12 minutes. I order a turkey burger meal which came with fries and a pop for less than 8$. It smelled absolutely delicious in the restaurant and I got full. The icing on the cake for me, is that I love supporting black owned businesses, especially form the neighborhood I grew up in! read more

I was craving a burger and let my boyfriend pick. I haven't been to this establishment in maybe 5 years, but I had fond memories of the sauce and tips so I figured based upon my own recollections and reviews I figured I was in good hands. Mind you, once stepping into this place of business there is a man whom I later overheard was selling DVDS. This fellow had a whole office situation in here!!! Many cords & gadgets & clutter around him. Stationed right in the window! This was a bit off putting. Smh... The wait was longer than normal "fast food" but for some reason we assumed it was due to the juicy, hand packed, turkey goodness we were going to receive. Boy were we wrong! Once biting into our burgers we realized that these were merely that of a Sara Lee frozen turkey patty, over cooked and not seasoned! Total bummer. The savior of the day were the French fries, so glad I ordered them. The sauce was just as amazing as I remember, but I would like to note in not sure if it's Harold's Mild Sauce as mentioned. For crinkle cut fries, they were actually fries and not soft and soggy. This is what saved them from getting 1/2 stars. All in all, I would return but I think I may just stick to the turkey tips! The front desk attendant refused to accept a coupon that I received from my Verizon UP rewards and she spent the entire time on her cell phone. Hey now! I found another gem! Hubby and I decided to give up (or at least cut back on) red meat. Just Turkey is just what we needed. Albeit some of the dishes aren't the healthiest....it's a start. We used yelp to order through Grubhub. Unfortunately the delivery was late so we had to pick it up. When we arrived there was no record of our order...bummer. No worries...the young lady at the register didn't hesitate w getting our order ready in the spot w no delay. Score! The food was hot, fresh and yummy. I had the turkey tips (plain) and my husband had the jerk tips. They were tasty as well but a little too salty for my liking. The reason this review is even getting 1 star is simple because of the wonderful smell of smoked turkey and fast service. Nevertheless, I order a small turkey tip for lunch and the turkey lasagna for a little later. Not knowing I would be in for the night of my life. I became violently ill for the rest of the day; projectile vomiting among other things. Needless to say I will not be a patron of this establishment again. I had been looking for a place near me that served turkey polishes and I found one. The fries were seasoned perfect and the turkey polish was delicious. I thought that my wait would be long because there were quite a few people there, but surprisingly it only took about 10 minutes. I drove 19 miles for a turkey burger. Have I lost my d@mn mind? Nope! If you were wise, you would be in your car -- right now -- headed to 43rd and Cottage Grove and getting a serious turkey burger on. This may have been one of the best turkey burgers I've ever had. First off, the drive to JT is lovely. For me, I hop on LSD South and cruise on by the lake until I get to Oakwood. It's a simple drive, but it's really beautiful. Lake Shore Opens up south of I-55 and traffic (usually) eases up. On a clear day, you feel like it's just you, the road and the water. It's a bootleg version of the PCH. Once you get off LSD (heh), take a look around. Yes, these big houses, parks and boulevards you see are not an optical illusion. Kenwood is the real deal. I think some famous guy who lives in DC calls it home. Or, something. Head south and you're at your destination. Don't expect valets, earpieces or sports coats. Park your car (in the lot!), walk your happy self in and look around. When I was there, the dining room was pretty empty. It's just a few tables, big windows and a mounted tv that was airing "The Game" (sister, siiistah). I'm telling you all of this, so a.) you get a feel for the experience and b.) you know to focus on the food. I rarely eat beef. Thanks to that, I miss ham/cheeseburgers. You don't know what you've got til it's gone. Truly. I've had turkey/veggie/etc. burgers, but they aren't the same. But here, realizing the entire menu is turkey products, I started to hope that this may be different. It was. With every bite, I was reminded of what eating red meat tasted and felt like. It was heavenly. The cheese was melted around all of the protein, the bun was thick and crispy. The veggies were fresh and the condiments added to the flavor, rather than hiding it. My fries were stained burgundy for all the mild sauce slathered in their bag. Every bite was potato + vinegar bbq sauce = Ka-POW!. I was getting dead sexier by the bite. But, it was worth it. I wouldn't be able to be naked in front of anyone for months. BUT IT WAS WORTH IT! The workers here are absolute trash. I have been going to this establishment for probably going on 5 years now and I have definitely noticed a change. In the beginning the customer service was wonderful. They used to make you feel welcome by walking in. But over the years, I guess as their clientele grew their attitudes did as well. Every time you walk in this place they act as if they're doing you a favor by making a meal that you PAID FOR. I have even tried to just go every few months now or order through food delivery services to avoid contact with them. But after yesterday I refuse to EVER give this black owned business my money (and yes I am black as well). I called in and they told me 20 min for a small tip, cool. I get there and I'm hearing the cashier telling customers don't ask her about their food because she's not the one making it and then the cook says "if it's not ready then it's not ready. They're going to have to wait". But unfortunately I heard them but wasn't really paying attention because I thought I left my card in the car. I leave out and come back more than 20 min later (so which means I called in more than 40 min ago at this point.) when I walk back in the same cashier and cook are still having nasty attitudes with customers. So when it's my turn I kept asking the smart mouth cashier is my order ready she kept rolling her eyes saying that it should be. So after my third time asking her, I told her that I didn't want to pay until I knew if it was ready or not. The cook yells out "a few more minutes". Of course that irritated me because the cashier said 20 min for a SMALL TIP and it's been well over 40 ministers now. She of course yells at me and says "well I'm not the one making your food sooooooo". I asked her to lose the attitude and of course it went left from there. I'm just completely done. Their attitudes are freaking horrible and I've noticed this for well over a year now but I kept trying. I refuse to order them through Grubhub, ubereats, etc. they tell "support black owned businesses." And quite frankly I don't care what's your race, I don't care about a pandemic or anything. If I'm spending my money in your establishment, not only do I require decent customer service but I definitely require respect and I can guarantee you will not get it here. As I stated, it's all about learning about places in my neighborhood. After a hard bike ride, I was definitely looking for some food. I landed upon Just Turkey by mistake. I was totally shocked because I had ventured to another place in the neighborhood that CLAIMED they had great turkey burgers to be let down. Just Turkey is located right in Bronzeville and East Hyde Park. There is ample seating to bring a small group of friends and offers free Wifi. now I will say that it's hard to choose between Harolds and Just Turkey because they're essentially located next door to one another. But the Turkey won out. I am glad I went. The service was great and the staff was patient and helpful. I had the Turkey Tips and another person ordered the turkey burger. Both were very fresh and tasty. Hey, they even served the turkey burger on a Wheat Bun. The turkey burger was thick and juicy. The turkey tips were pretty good as well. One thing I like is that they didn't drown my tips in tons of bbq sauce. Overall, the experience was great and I will certainly be heading back again for more. read more

Used to be a fan of Just Turkey years ago, I'm honestly not sure if they changed their recipe, have different cooks, or just flubbed my double burger but it was "off" on the seasoning big time. Yesterday I ordered 3 orders of mini turkey tips, 1 large turkey tip, and 3 jerk turkey steak tacos with only cheese and sauce. I picked up my order and only had the orders of turkey tips and 1 taco that was made ALL WRONG. When I walked back inside, the cashier was on top of her boyfriend on the side of the door. Then had an attitude when I told her my taco was wrong and not only was it wrong, it was the wrong amount of tacos. She then advised me that it'll take another hour to remake the tacos because they ran out of meat and refunded me for that ONE TACO After she refunded me, I walked back to my car and looked inside as I was driving off .. she went right back to hop on top of the guy. I'm trying to consume less beef and pork. In enters Just Turkey. I ordered the Turkey Burger with everything and grilled onions. This was my 1st experience with a turkey burger so Just Turkey was essentially responsible for my sentiment towards turkey burgers for the rest of my life. So yeah...there's that. Although it tastes nothing like a beef burger, I was pleasantly surprised. The turkey was flavored well and was very tasty. I was a little afraid of it being too salty because that's been my experience with other turkey products like turkey bacon for example. Fortunately that was not the case. Good price, good food, good turkey! There are a few tables and a TV but it's not really a cozy, sit down spot. It's a call ahead / pick up place... think Harold's but for turkey! It was convenient to sit and watch some of the game while I was waiting on my order though. I love spicy food so I asked Greg (I think) for his recommendation between the jerk and jalapeno burger. Jerk was the winner and it did not disappoint. I wish I had tasted it before I left because by the time I got home and devoured it, I wanted another one! That's just greedy I know! The flavors were on point and I had no complaints. I ordered corn on the cob instead of fries... eh, bad choice. This is my 3rd time ordering from Just Turkey and I will continue to be a customer for a couple reasons - 1) Excellent Food and 2) Great Service. We really got hooked on the Turkey Tips but the sauce was wayyyy too much. This time I asked that the sauce is on the fries and tips but to not saturate. Got my mini order of tips and fries and guess what....Saturated!!! I didn't get upset despite being ready to sit and eat. Instead I called and they said to come up to correct the order. A new order was already waiting for me when I got there, it was hot, fresh, and they even gave me a Large instead of replacing it with the same mini size. They also apologized for the inconvenience! THIS is what exceptional customer service looks like. They corrected and even gave me more which they didn't have to. I would've been grateful with just a replacement with less sauce.
