My boyfriend and I decided to stop on a rainy day, on our way back from a 5k in Dunkirk, NY. We've both driven by here several times and never stopped. From the outside, you think small pet shop...but wait till you step inside... I believe theirs a total of 5 to 6 different roons to explore. On to the store, theres a section for pet food, gift shop, tortoises, birds, reptiles, fish, a store cat, cat for adoption, hermit crabs . If I lived out near the store, and had pets this would be my pet shop to frequent. Excellent customer service, very helpful staff that kept check in on us. I walked into this store being talked about under the breath of the blonde employee at this store for a return. She had terrible customer service and was extremely difficult to encounter during my visit. One of the owners told us we could do a full return and ended up blowing off the employees to a phone call to confirm he said that when we drove over an hour to do so. Every other employee was friendly and welcoming during our experiences at this location, but we will not be back due to the lack of communication and service of the owners, and the blonde employee we sadly had to encountered today. Every time I make my way down here, it feels like they've done something substantial to improve the place. They are constantly changing the store and adding new things. They recently added an entire clothing, decor, and garden items room in the back. There is usually a nice selection of community tank fish here and a decent selection of cichlids as well. They usually have at least a few reptiles for sale as well. They have a shop parrot, giant sulcata tortoise, tegu, and 3 black cats all roaming around the store. I love to come here just to pet the kitties and visit the tortoise. There is a nice selection of birds for sale as well. The selection of animal toys and treats is vast and well priced. I usually pick up a dog toy or treat while I'm here because its not insanely overpriced like the box stores. read more

Really like this shoppe. It's a family-owned business that's been open since the 90s. There really aren't many pet stores out there if you don't want corporate. Looks like a tiny store front, but when you get inside it just keeps going and going. They sell fish, small animals, reptiles, and birds. If you're looking for a certain type of animal that they don't have that day (ferret, chin, rabbit, etc.) they'll take your name and number and call you if one comes in, which is nice of them. The kids like to visit the "resident" creatures who live in the store- a giant tortoise, parrots, a few cats, a huge catfish, a tegu. I love the huge selection of Nylabones and other dog toys and treats for my pup. They have habitats, accessories, and food for every pet you can think of. read more

My favorite pet store. Miss seeing the goats and tortoises outside though. Adopted my Anole Hermes 2 years ago because the anole tank was over crowded and I saw he had some broken ribs from being picked on by the bigger anoles. He is fat and happy and super long now. Upon a recent visit to Just Pets, noticed that the Anole tank isn't overdlowing with animals and all animals are being properly cared for. Very knowledgeable staff, and friendly store cats that help you find just what you need!. Still miss the goats though, they were so cute read more

I have finally decided to move this rating up a star and make it a solid 4 stars. Though I cannot always count on the friendliness of the owners - the staff here make up for that and then some - you won't find friendlier and more knowledgeable staff. The selection is better here with a lot of pet snacks made in USA - the price is extremely reasonable - as comparable to on line shopping and in most cases cheaper once you add in the shipping costs. Let me go again on selection - from a large assortment of fish and supplies to reptiles and more reptiles and birds and sometimes even cats, dogs, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pig, mice, rats - you name it they probably have it OR will get it for you! Talk to Brian about everything - he is the best they have! They also have plenty of specials, bird food and feeders, pond supplies - really - just check them out - the store is much larger then it looks and you will be amazed at all that they have and again - price means a lot, but so too does made in the USA! I've even changed my mind on the rating - removing the owners from the mix - this place is a 5 star - weak as it may be! read more

I have enjoyed shopping at Just Pets for over 15 years. The prices are great on pet food and treats for your pets. They have a great selection of toys and even home baked and decorated dog cookies for special occasions. Visiting the store's "mascot" tortoise is a favorite for children and adults alike. The staff is very knowledgeable with the products they stock and will answer any questions you have, if an answer isn't quickly available they will find it for you. We have found their prices on bulk items to be cheaper than Amazon or big box stores. The customer service you receive and the prices make it a smart choice to shop small businesses locally. I don't know if he was having an off day, but Gary was downright rude to us. I brought my son in to buy tropical fish for a new tank. We had been there a week and a half prior for him to select the fish he wanted. A staff had recommended Neons as good starter fish and he really thought out his selection. We had the tank running for the past week as we read you should, in order to cycle the tank. Today we were ready for fish and plants. We told Gary what we wanted and he said that's great if you want them to be dead by the end of the day. Okay--we definitely don't and I asked what he recommended we should do. He got extremely confrontational saying. "No let's give him (my son) what he wants." And proceeded to scoop up Neons. I understood his point that fish start the bacteria cycle so asked AGAIN what he thought was the best way to go about it. We left with a pregnant Molly, her beau and a female beta because I didn't want my son to be disappointed. The beta was the only fish he wanted. He's was extremely excited about his Christmas present. I'll be going elsewhere to get the Neons he really wanted--and a nursery. I don't know a lot about tropical tanks--but I do know live bearers often eat their young. It felt like we were set up. read more

I originally came out to Irving for Stagecoach West, but I noticed this pet store right next store and just HAD to go in! For starters, the place is bigger than it looks on the inside and is pretty much divided into sections. They have a huge variety of dog food, toys, etc... and everything is fairly priced. The biggest surprise for me, was the fish room! They take amazing care of the fish. All the tanks were super clean and fish seemed very healthy. Even the betta's have clean, clear water and what looks to be pumps hooked up to their displays to they receive some sort of filtration. This store has a great selection of fish... some I don't often see in some of the local pet shops and they have a really nice cichlid selection. Their Jack Dempseys and German Blue Rams were nice looking, very flashy and stood out to me among the others. I could have walked around for an hour, but my companion was less enthralled than I was with the fish. The reptiles were of a moderate selection, all were very well taken care of and in appropriate cages. I enjoyed looking around and loved some of the roaming kitties in the place. I wish it wasn't so far from me! All in all, a very nice pet shop. Lot's of USA made treats and products. Would totally visit more often if it were closer, but maybe will make this a every few months trip. Do yourself a favor and go visit! I doubt you will be disappointed. read more

An excellent pet store. I have several fish tanks in my home and have shopped here for almost 10 years. I have purchased many fish and supplies over the years. I have had great success with the fish I have purchased here,very healthy and hardy.The store appears small on the outside but it is chock full of a variety of pet items. There were a couple of times they didn't have what I needed,but they were more than happy to order the items. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. The service is great,but at times they get very busy (weekends!)and waiting is neccesary,but there are many things to look at while you wait. A nice store which I would highly recommend ! read more

The staff is always so informative and helpful. I also really appreciate the kindness they always show to my 11 year old autistic step son that's a huge animal fan, & 15 year old step daughter that is raising a zoo in her room. Jk So far it's only a lizard and hermit crabs. read more

We purchased no one but two dogs from them, when we did they told us that if there was any reason we needed to return them that they would no questions asked. Turns out two puppies and a 4 month old baby aren't easy to take care of all at once. We called about it they told us they would take the dogs but refused to give us anything at all back. Mind you this was after bar-raiding us to not leave the one puppy without its sibling. 650 for each dog, think about that for a moment. They want us to more or less donate 1300 to their store. If any of this sounds ok to you then by all means go there. read more

I like this store for its variety, but I feel that the customer service is sorely lacking. I found out that they might carry the brand of dog food that we use, so I went in. They didn't have it on the shelf, so I found a sales girl and asked her to check if they were going to get more in. She left me to ask her manager and never came back to me. When I found her again about 10 minutes later, she acted like she didn't know me. She took my name and # to have the manager call me back. He did and offered to order the food for me and call me when it came in. Well, I never got a call and called them several days after it was supposed to be there. No one knew anything. Now, I am running out of dog food and need it within a couple of days. I ordered again to give them another chance....if they don't get it, I may have to try someplace else. read more

Love this place! Wide variation of animal stuff. Live animals outside in the summer,,, see the tortoise take his daily stroll around the store;)). Worth a trip to Irving.. Cheap gas,,, stagecoach west is next store.. Take a ride to lake on the bay. read more
