They've been repairing my gear for years, but make sure you call ahead to make sure they are open as I got fooled on a couple of occasions after driving 45 miles to their shop from my home to discover that they closed early (mind you, one of those days WAS due to a power failure in the building). A couple of months ago I had started to get the itch for some new speakers to replace the entry Klipsch towers I had bought. After quite some time reading and watching reviews I had settled on several potential candidates. I decided to go to Just Audio, as most of they were an authorized dealer of most of what I was wanting to take a listen to. John and his wife were extremely accommodating and spent a good amount of time with me as I listened to the Lintons, Super Lintons, LEAK, and MoFis. I had found what I wanted, but I still needed to talk to my wife about the purchase. So, after a work trip, I took her with me up to Just to listen to them, and she decided it was worth the money. John and his wife talked us through the purchase options and sent a draft order. The next morning, after further deliberation, we pulled the trigger and submitted the order request. Just Audio kept in constant communication, as there were delays by the distributor. When the potential arrival of the speakers was going to coincide with another work trip, John worked with me to hold the speakers on-site at the store until I was able to receive them. As soon as I called them they immediately shipped them via UPS to my home, and they arrived just before I pulled into the driveway. The Lintons look and sound amazing, and are a perfect fit for our home. While we could have ordered these blind from Amazon or Crutchfield, receiving them the very next day, it wouldn't have compared to actually listening to them side-by-side with other speakers, talking to knowledgeable staff who could explain differences. At no time did they try to drive a sale, or push us towards more expensive speakers. What was important to them was that we found what *we* wanted, not what they wanted us to buy. All around an extremely pleasant experience. While Just is a bit of a hike for me from Virginia, I enjoyed my experience with Just Audio and will continue to spend my money there over online retailers. I highly recommend Just Audio! read more

Update 7-17-2023. I've been a happy customer of Just Audio for many years now. My experience with Just Audio has involved both the sales and service aspects of the business. In sales I've brought a Reel to Reel Deck, a Stereo Receiver and my latest items a pair of rare Pioneer HPM-100 Lucite Speakers and a clear turntable. I have the following items in for service. A Pioneer SX-1060 and a Hitachi SR-2004, 200 WPC monster receiver. I want them repaired yesterday. Luckily the technicians at Just Audio won't return them to me until every single issue is worked out and tested. Recently I've sent in for service the following: 4 Pioneer CTW 710R Cassette Tape Decks, 2 Pioneer SX-950 receivers on consignment. 1 Pioneer SX-1050, 1 Pioneer SX-1980, 1 Pioneer SX1250, 1 Pioneer SX1280 and 1 Marantz 2330B. Replacing main filter caps in the Marantz 2330B is tricky but Just Audio made it seem like child's play. I share all this so you know when I tell you Just Audio does a great job bringing vintage audio back to life I speak from years of experience. Understand that Just Audio gives it to you straight. All vintage gear was not created equal. Some vintage gear is not repairable and Just Audio tells you this upfront wherever possible. Restoring vintage audio is not an exact science. Thankfully Just Audio's technicians have experience enough to know what things fail most often in most major vintage audio brands. Repairing vintage gear can be expensive because technicians who know how to repair things are aging out of the business. Just Audio provides the best and most reasonable vintage repair experiences on the east coast. As for sales I can't even begin to tell you how awesome Just Audio's selection of new and vintage items are. The Just Audio sales floor is full of vintage and modern receivers, amplifier \ tuner separates, speakers, switches, Cartridges for turn tables, new or vintage turntables and such much more. They have posh listening rooms crammed with speakers. Finally the staff is wonderful. They have a sense of humor at Just Audio so come prepared to spend an enjoyable time. Buying new or vintage audio is a serious hobby but Just Audio reminds us to inject a bit of fun in every aspect of the experience. Never again. Took my SX-1980 in around 9/22. Tech did not replace amount of capacitors as he said , did not balance audio output as good as could be, did not align reciever as it drifts a little and off by 2kz after warm up. Tech was supposedly from U.S. Army?? I dont mind spending the money but give quality work. So have not been very happy with the work. read more

Been a fan of the Just Audio YouTube channel for a while now so last month when I was back east visiting friends and family a buddy of mine and I made a half-day out of heading to Baltimore for some crabs and to check this place out. High-end audio shops can be very hit-or-miss vibe wise. I made it clear as soon as we were greeted that I was visiting from the west coast and wasn't there to make any purchases. The employees were still happy to chat with us and show off the gear. We got to check out a Pioneer SX-1980 and demo a few hi-res songs through it. Very cool to check out one of hi-fi's holy grails as well as some newer modern speakers. I'd been particularly interested in seeing the KLH model 5s among a few others. This place is very clean and the vintage gear has all been cleaned and is presented well. Some of the old stereo components are displayed with original boxes and manuals--very cool to see for vintage audio geeks like us. As we were heading out the owner made sure to come over and thank us for coming and chat for a few minutes. If you're in the Baltimore area and enjoy classic stereo gear this place is absolutely worth checking out. read more

The store is full of lovely vintage audio equipment. The repair center has some really good reviews. Here is my experience in a nutshell. I dropped off a Carver Receiver for repair February 13, 2021, with a $60 deposit, to get the unit into the repair queue. The receiver had a very bad hum, a couple of broken function switches, and a mismatched control knob. I was told that there is a 30 day backlog and that they would contact me when they were reviewing the receiver. I called in mid-March, they said they would call, they were running behind in the shop. Mid-April a technician called and said he was having trouble finding parts. Mid-May I called and learned that the technician assigned to the job had resigned, and the job was back in the queue for a technician. A week or so later a new technician called and said he was trying to pick up the pieces. Mid-June I called and complained, and offered to help find parts. The technician said that the front panel standoffs were brittle and had broken. He was looking for a donor receiver. July 3, 2021, I picked up the receiver. It looks great, but . . . the functions on the panel and buttons don't match the original. I haven't hooked it up yet. I hope everything is working right. I know they did their best for me. If you choose to use them for repairs, I hope you have better luck. I am going to assume that the receiver is working properly. If it is not, I will update this review. When I gave my first review of Just Audio about 5 years ago I thought I had taken it to a top notch repair shop. I brought my vintage Marantz in and waited patiently for nearly 2 months. I never saw under the hood post-repair, but I trusted all was good. Now I took a ton of before pics before I even brought it to Just Audio. Let's fast forward to present day. I had a issue recently with one of my speaker channels and I wanted to look inside asap to see if it could be something simple. Well, I couldn't help but notice what I thought were melted capacitors was a god awful repair job. The tech who worked on my unit basically shuffled around capacitors, tossed one away, glued the hell out of them, painted them black over the glue, and used a plastic tie to lock them into place. NONE of this is noted on the invoice I received. The piece that held them into place they threw away without informing me whatsoever! I recently brought my receiver into another place who was also very critical of the shotty repair job performed by Just Audio... even more so that none of this was documented or told to me. Sorry Just Audio, but I thought I was a fan, but I feel misled, overcharged, and taken advantage of. I'll never return and most importantly when I'm asked by others I'll be clear that I was very dissatisfied with my receiver was repaired. read more

I had a problem with a jack post getting stuck in the back of a Golden Ear subwoofer. Called either Golden Ear or Polk Audio to get recommendations for service. One recommended Just Audio. I called them and they told me to bring it on over. I waited until I had a trip going north on I-95 and was going to drop it off. When I got there the receiving guy said that he thought he could fix it, but an overriding supervisory woman told him that they wouldn't do it. She pulled out an apparently double secret rule that they don't work on subwoofers. She had no suggestions what I should do with it. Funny part is that the store looked appealing and I am looking to upgrade my surround sound processor with a modern one equipped for streaming. For that, I will use Soundscape in north Baltimore or Crutchfield. Looks like this business should be renamed Just Some Audio, and Slowly. read more

I was referred to Just Audio, by another audio repair company that only did in home repairs. I'm grateful for their recommendation. I took my 20+ year old Sony AVR - ST910 receiver in for repair. The left channels on both the A & B speakers were distorted and the surround sound was hit or miss. They explained their repair policies and that it would be 8 weeks before they could look at it. They called me back after the waiting period and explained what needed to be done and the associated repair costs. I gave them the go ahead and they called back advising that they would need an additional part, which of course would increase the cost and add another week to the repair. Again, I was fine with that. When I got the unit home, it worked and looked like new. My wife and I are now enjoying listening to our stereo again and watching sporting events and videos with the surround sound. Everyone we came in contact at Just Audio, were very professional and courteous. It was not an inexpensive repair, but well worth it. I highly recommend them for audio repairs or purchase. read more

My 1985 Yamaha A-1020 integrated amplifier was starting to give up. I tried a few newer amplifiers, but none of them sounded as good as my Yamaha. I finally took my amp in for repair at Just Audio in greater Baltimore. There was good communication during the time my amp was there being repaired. They fixed my amp, and it sounded as good as ever. I was so happy! The repair fee was extremely fair, especially considering all the output transistors they had to replace that were fried. I really, really love this place. It's a baby boomers Candy Store. Audio gear of olde refurbished and for sale. Amps, tuners, cassette decks, 8 Tracks, turntables, PA and DJ systems!! I found them online by accident while looking for repair alternatives to a Sony 400 CD Jukebox that crapped out on me. Brought in a traktor DJ controller, they assured me they'd worked on them before and it would not be an issue to simply replace a play and cue button. Fast forward a full month, and I get the thing back (the tech broke an led and had to order a replacement). I said to the guy, who is apparently the owner, look I was told I'd have this back in a week and it's actually cost me money in rental equipment not having it for a full month. Can you guys make it up with a discount of some sort. He told me "no, sometimes these things take a month and no one would have ever told me a week." Well, nevermind the fact that I had proof of the conversation, I explained it only took that long because the tech broke another piece and now I'm getting it back with less than ideal LEDs in there (one is much dimmer than the rest because he couldn't find an exact replacement). Because I was getting it back the way I was he agreed to take off $30. Great. Still plaid $150. THEN, I get the thing home and find out all kinds of stuff isn't working right, the fader, the headphone output. Some of it I'm certain was working beforehand and some I'm not sure of. But they told me they would do a diagnostic (for which I paid $60 before any work was even agreed upon) and they told me everything else was working fine. Bottom line this place sucks. The owner was pretty rude and unhelpful and I basically wasted the $150 just to find all this out. Ended up just buying a new DJ controller rather than even deal with this business any more than I had to. Be warned. Take your electronics elsewhere (hopefully to someone that actually appreciates your business and knows how to properly diagnose and repair things). read more

Please do not get your stereo equipment serviced here. Beware of The Friendly Nice Guy because that's about all they are! I took in my pioneer sx 9000 initially to get the tone color display lights to reappear, and some sonic issues rectified. Basicly, making a long story short, they came back to me with the estimate and it was ridiculous. I was able to negotiate it down, but was put off with there initial price. After I picked up the unit did I find the right mic control was broken. They never disclosed this to me, and after much discussion about this, they still tried to blame it on me! Now they did replace the lights with LED's and they looked great, but that's all they did! Sonically the unit was unchanged especially the reverb they said they capped. Also an intermittent buzzing that was never present ( which I believe to be a bad transistor) and was clear as day, should have been noticed! All in all, instead of them coming back to me stating that it would not be in there best interest to repair it, they just went ahead replaced the lights, ignored everything els, and called it a day. Now I'm out hundreds of dollars and a unit with a broken switch that I cannot sell now. They tried to offer me my $60 estimate fee, but that was not even close. Now I didn't expect everything, but come on here, did they think I was a fool! Lastly, there just in it to sell stereos and pocket the money. I'd be weary of anything you buy there. read more

They do good work (sort of), but it comes at a price. They seem to be the only folks around that work on vintage equipment and they have priced themselves accordingly. Otherwise I would find a cheaper place. I have found that they seem to find repairs to make which were not requested and claim it had to be done in order to stand behind their work. A little bit here and there is fine, but I took a unit it that needed a couple of transistors (2 dollars in parts), my bill was over $600. I paid $750 for the unit a couple of years ago! If you question the time put into it, you will likely get an attitude. I asked how much they charge an hour and how many hours were put into it and they could only give me vague answers with no hourly rate. It goes against my nature to post such reviews, but just make sure you know what you are getting into price wise. If your unit is not worth much, it may not be worth dumping a lot of money into it. Too bad, a lot of us like to keep these old things going as a hobby, but can't pay those prices. read more

Terrific and fast service. My Denon AV receiver had been having problems and I had already sent it to the factory repair center in NJ once but they couldn't find anything wrong-that cost me $60. Really lovely people work there, and they have a great YouTube channel, but today is the fourth order I have placed online to be called and informed that they didn't have part of it. The product is listed in stock on their website but apparently their inventory is completely off (four different products, a head shell mounted cartridge last year, a tonearm grounding cable, a cartridge display and now a spin clean. It's a shame because I have been linking their products on audio forums but I'm going to stop because I just don't know if any of my friends order from there if they will be able to fulfill the order. I hope they start reflecting their inventory properly on the website. I hate to say it but today's cancelation will probably be the last time I bother to try doing business with them. Just audio was the repair shop that I absolutely was looking for in the Virginia and Maryland area. I was checking with several audio repair shops that could tackle equipment from the 1980s and 1990s era. I have a Sony amp and part of a pair I wanted repaired. My goal was to connect these amps in a mono fashion into individual speakers. When I took my amp down for a review and consultation they gave me a range I could expect to pay, and offered an option to accelerate the diagnostic review, and it really made me feel good that I was leaving my equipment with technicians and specialists who knew what they were talking about when it came to older equipment. Based on their recent move from their older shop to the new location, they advised that it would be a little longer than expected to get my unit back. I understood that and waited for their call. When I received a call, they apologized for the time it took for the repair and added the diagnostic review money to my final bill. I went into the shop and started talking to Nicholas, very nice guy to explain to me what other things the shop can do and offer. I'm a pro DJ. I've had multiple home and professional pieces repaired here. About 1/2 the time, I've been treated poorly. I dislike going back. In fact, I tried to take my mixer elsewhere, but the other shop stopped servicing Rane. If I had time, I would have sent it to another place. Just Audio repairs are usually good, but the customer service especially at the front desk is lacking. I've been yelled at, actually yelled at. (By the way, I don't think it had anything to do with my race. The woman was simply not nice.) This last time they fixed my equipment without any customer service or repair issues. So my radio is like 40 years old and better than these new radios. Turntable, tape deck, CD players, radio, and aux. My speakers are wooden. My radio needed some TLC as you can imagine after all that time, hell it needed to be resuscitated. Just audio got me right. Replacing 7 belts, cleaning, oiling, and gave me an amazing deal on two floor wooden pioneer speakers. They sound like love. My music sounds amazing coming through them. An easy one star. This place will not give you a price quote over the phone for audio repair. And if you do decide to get a repair here, its a 60 dollar fee just to look at it. Who knows how much up charging they could do with the remaining servicing of your device. And it would take them 4 weeks to turn it around. Bad deal. Lack of transparency plus slow turn-around times are a bad business formula. Should signal a few red flags. Be very wary of places that operate in such a manner. If you are looking for used AV equipment, check Just Audio. They occasionally have equipment that they have repaired but the owners never came to pick them up. They will gladly hook it up for you to show that it works, and offer a very fair price. Keep in mind that the supply of used equipment is hit and miss, but it's worth it to stop by. Oh yea, I have spoken with a few people who had their AV equipment repaired there (they turned me on to this place), and all where quite content. read more

In early January I went to Just Audio to look at and listen to a vintage Marantz 2216 receiver. It meet my criteria for a secondary system analog receiver to be paired with my turntable. I felt the price was a little high so management worked with me and I purchased the receiver. I was very pleased with the service as I auditioned several receivers before purchasing this one. And with a 90 day warranty on the unit, I left confident that I made the right decision. Now for the impressive part of the after purchase. I've listened to my new Marantz for about a month now and am still pleased but I wondered how my Dynaudio speakers would sound with more power delivered to them. I called Just Audio yesterday and spoke to Mike about my concern. Not only did he think I should save my money by not moving up to the 2275 receiver, he explained why I really would NOT get my monies worth on the upgrade. It has the same phono board and other than not having to turn up the volume as far as my 2216, the 2275 would basically sound the same. Now, he left the ultimate decision for the upgrade(if one can call it that after his explanation)with me for another 2 months. Mike was genuinely interested in my not wasting money on a purchase that really would not make a difference in my system! That's honesty and consideration, in my opinion, rather than money grabbing!
