I visit Denton, especially downtown area frequently, so decided to hit Jupiter House for come java... Meh... well, it was just ok... I liked the atomsphere and decor. It was really nice, the art, the layout, and the causal vibe, but the coffee... the coffee was not good, took a few passes, and had to stop. Just a note: they do not carry heavy whipping cream Would I go there again ? Well for the casual atomsphere, sure, but NOT for the coffee. I do not recommend this place for coffee... seriously. read more

To round out my favorite/best-of experiences in the DFW area, it's safe to say I drank one of my favorite chai lattes here. Normally when I travel, a coffee spots chai is usually an indicator of their attention to detail and flavor. The ginger-like bite to their latte woke me up in the midst of a day-trip to the area. What a great place for coffee! They are practicing social distancing and mask wearing during the pandemic for everyone's safety. Decided to try an iced caramel comet latte with almond milk. This was the most delicious latte I've had since the pandemic began. I can't wait to try more things on their menu. I will definitely return in the future :-) read more

Jupiter House fired a loyal employee of 7 years who stuck by them through a fire, rebuild and the pandemic after she was held hostage for over 2 hours by a scammer disguised as Denton County PD who presented her with private information and instructed her to empty the safe. This employee literally helped them rebuild from the ground up after a fire, baked and drove cinnamon rolls all around Denton and surrounding areas during the pandemic so they would still have some income during mandated shut down, handled all day to day operations and is the reason many clientele have become regulars. Jupiter House decided $700 was worth more to them then the health and safety of a loyal employee of over 7 years. Profits over people? Sad. read more

We had cappuccinos and split 1 tortilla with egg, cheese and bacon. The order came with 2 perfectly grilled tortillas with the egg and bacon inside and with a really nice spicy sauce on the side. It was delicious. The coffees were great too. The ambiance was cool and staff very nice. We sat upstairs and could look down into the cafe and into the Denton square. This place was a gem to stumble upon and in such a nice area of town with many other restaurants as well. Seeing as this was my first visit in town as well as to Jupiters I was not disappointed and enjoyed my meal as well. I give them credit for re-opening after the fire, but I don't think they were ready yet. I asked to see their food menu, and the selection was minimal, especially for a vegetarian-- only one sandwich option. It was delicious though. I do feel like my food was way over priced- I paid $17 for the sandwich, a CAN of soda, and a small piece of brownie. I felt like that was $5 too much. Plus the headache of finding parking.... Very cool coffee shop downtown Denton! As I continue to hang out around Denton while my girlfriend takes classes I've been going to a lot of coffee shops. Like most, this place has a very chill and welcoming environment. What makes this place different is their bright lighting and fast lane atmosphere. This doesn't seem like a place to lounge around, it's more like get your coffee and go. Furniture is not very comfortable but WiFi is fast! I asked what was their most popular iced drink. They recommended Jupiter's Nectar (chocolate, caramel, hazelnut) , so that's what I got along side a blueberry muffin. The coffee drink was strong as it should be, but a little on the sweet side. Tasted better as the ice diluted. The pastry was wrapped in plastic. This would be perfect for an on the go person but really messed the texture up for someone eating here. Tasted fine but got sticky from being wrapped in the plastic. read more

My favorite coffee shop in Denton! I am from Colorado Springs, but I visit Denton almost every year, and Jupiter House is the go-to. I usually get hot lattes (I've had vanilla and coconut) and they are always great! My wife and I recently tried the French toast bagel with egg, sausage, and maple cream cheese, which was tasty! I actually love everything about this coffee house. From its downtown Denton Square location, hipster/trendy atmosphere, awesome customer service, excellent product, as well as relaxed decor. What's not to love about Jupiter House? While I haven't tried the Wifi with my tablet/laptop as of yet (I heard its slow during busy hours), the Wifi signal from my phone was at 4G. Parking seems to be a bit limited in front of the store, yet there is always parking areas on the side of the building as well as within the areas closest to the Wells Fargo office building. Plenty of seating within this venue, which is one of the more noticeable things, next to the various pieces of artwork. One of the largest coffee houses that I've ever seen that isn't a corporate chain. Other than the standard tables and bar chairs, there are also a couple of couches available to relax on. There is also additional outdoor seating (particularly for you smokers), yet good luck with that during the winter and summer months! Aside from the coffee and traditional snack products, Jupiter House also makes fruit smoothies and other healthy alternatives. Jupiter House, where have you been all of my life? I love coming here. Great relaxed atmosphere. I don't remember it getting too loud. Lots of students on laptops. Small groups get together. Plenty of tables. Plenty of room. Plenty of items on the menu. I usually get the peanut butter monkey milkshake. It contains blue bell ice cream, banana, chocolate and peanut butter. It's more like a treat for me because it is more expensive than Starbucks! Over $5 for a 16oz. Most of their milkshakes or smoothies start over $5 (16oz) and can get pricey with the add ons. There snacks that they sell consists of fruit breads like banana bread, zucchini, chocolate, pecan etc. run about $3 for a small slice. The cookies almost $3 and they look fairly small. I am definitely not tempted to my snacks here. I love the atmosphere and frequent here to study, but I am very surprised at how the prices have increased for a college town and most of the people here look like college students. read more

First off, I am not a coffee drinker. I know I cannot be the only one in saying that I love to walk into a Starbucks, Gloria Jean's or Jupiter House and enjoy the aroma of the various coffees floating throughout the place. It's one of those smells that set the brain off. But in my case, the smell and the taste don't equal. Coffee doesn't do it for me. As for Jupiter House? They make a mean hot chocolate, and have some good cookies and pastries, they also make smoothies and fresh squeezed juice. That's what has brought me back a few times. I like the artsy vibe of the place and I thought the "Be kind to hipsters" sign was amusing. There are really only two places along the square that you can truely lump as "hipster". Jupiter House and Paschall Bar would be them. Most everything else on the square is very eclectic and that's what makes Denton so great. Jupiter House also seems to be a place that people just go to hang out, work on their computers and with comfy couches, mismatched chairs and tables inside and out, there is a large space for people to get together with their friends and not feel cramped because the space is pretty large. Local folks have artwork for sale lining the walls..... although nothing really piqued my interest there. Jupiter House has been on the square for quite some time and with the influx of new places that have been showing up, they are one of the cornerstones of this revitalization of this city I call home. Never been to denton square so I wasnt sure where to stop for breakfast. I kept walking until I found this place; there were quite a few people inside and outside so I figured id give it a shot. Its a little pricier then I would have liked but not ridiculous or anything. Its about what you'd spend at Starbucks. I was hoping since it was local place on the square it would be a little better. Ordered a 20oz orange passion smoothie it was 5.75. I wouldn't say its worth that price but there's no way of knowing without trying. It's very blended so its almost like a thick juice rather than a smoothie in my opinion. I almost ordered juice but decided a smoothie about the same price would be more filling and stay cooler longer while walking around the square. Unfortunately like I said earlier it was pretty much thick juice so I decided to stay in and enjoy the AC for a bit so it would last longer and I wouldn't feel like I had to slurp it down quickly so I wouldn't feel like I was wasting money by it becoming hot and nasty. In not really a health nut or anything but this place seems to cater to that crowd pretty well. They offer healthy and vegan options so a little something for everyone. Small food selection. They have bagels, egg sandwiches and lots of baked goods like sweet breads and muffins near the front of the counter. Muffins $1.50, slice of sweet loafs $3.00. They looked really good but couldn't make myself spend $3.00 on one slice. Atmosphere is very laid back and relaxing. They have long tables set up for groups or those needing a big workspace. Upon entering Jupiter House, you will have a long trek across the galaxy to make it to their counter in the very back. As you make your journey, you will drift through the huddled masses of study groups, the tension that is bred by focus as backs hunch over laptops (that's really terrible for your neck, by the way) and see the dead eyed glaze overtaking people who have been staring at the same page in their textbook for two thirds of their last coffee. As you land in line, you will see a bright and large menu that is still fairly difficult to read because of the low lighting... or I'm getting old and going blind. Second, if you are me, your eyes will be drawn to their pastries on a table to the right... oooohhh, snacks. You may forget to figure out your drink as you sift through vegan banana bread and triple berry muffins and then notice a stack of cookies. Anyways, it's clear that they have lattes and smoothies and shakes and cocoa and cider and oh yeah, regular old coffee. What I didn't know until today is that they have bagels and bagel sandwiches! I had already placed my order and paid when a young, hormonal couple finally rotated out of my orbit, revealing the counter sign! I was so disappointed, I would have gotten a bagel instead of only raising my blood sugar with... well, lots of sugar. Oh well, next time, perhaps. They have bagel sandwiches for $4 and bagels with spread for $2.50. Side note... why does no one say cream cheese anymore? Am I the only one? Did I miss the memo that it got classified as a curse word? Schmear, spread... why? Anyways, back to Jupiter House. I used to come here from time to time when I was in college, but hadn't been in forever... it was almost like discovering it all over again. The wood tables are clean, pale, flat and make a great work space and studying surface. I mentioned earlier that the lighting is pretty dim in there, but it's pretty awesome that they have lamps at almost every table by the wall. That allows an individual or a pair to use the light, without messing with the overeall ambiance. The seating is varied, I didn't remember them having booths, but they do! They have tables of varying sizes and heights and benches too! However you like to study or work, you'll probably find the table/chair pairing for your needs, including outside. When I stopped in yesterday afternoon it was uber quiet, though it was half full- they're concentrating... or on Facebook, I dunno. I remember it being livelier in there, but that's probably in the evenings when it's safer to socialize. The layout is actually pretty nice and I love bagels. Right as I'm wondering if the parking is the only reason I haven't been here in forever, my order is ready. I got a cinnamon walnut muffin, which tasted as expected and was very reasonable at $1.50. Sugar helps with all nighters so they are catering to their crowd pretty well. Also, it's Denton, so it's great thar they had 4 or 5 vegan snacks too. I didn't notice any gluten free, but it was pastries, so yeah... sorry GF crowd. It varies though, maybe tomorrow. Anyways, right as I'm wondering why I don't come and get some work done in this very nice, spacious, quiet shop, I take a sip of my Orange Passion smoothie. It's orange juice, bananas and strawberries- the smallest they had was a 16 oz and it was $5.50. Oh yeah! That seems familiar, it's just not very good. The drink was weak on flavor and sour. The orange flavor was really light, the strawberries were not to be found and where the hell is that super unpleasant, sour taste coming from?? I drank 6 sips, spacing time between- enough to be polite, my mother taught me right- and then tossed the rest and headed out. The memories come flooding back of burnt coffee, stale snacks and weirdly mixed shakes. I've had decent items here before, but just as many have been disappointing. With a place like this, the quality is strictly based on the current staff. That's why I'm saying it's average, because over the years, that's just how I feel about the place. Besides, my meh visit today, may be your fantastic visit tomorrow. Considering their drinks are overpriced, I need more consistent good experiences to consider it a good value and rate it any higher. I've only been here a couple of times, but the times I have come, I have had pleasant experiences. The most recent visit I got a macadamia nut Italian cream soda and...it wasn't that great. The combination of flavors just did not go well together and that was on me, but I also believe there were just too many pumps of whatever syrups used. Also when I tried to mix my drink it started foaming up and spilled all over the floor. :/ The store itself has seating, but they are limited on outlets which sucks for us college students on a busy day. But staff was kind and the store gives off hipster vibes. I'll be back to study and try something new. read more

Jupiter House is practically Royal's Bagels now with just an extended coffee and shake menu. They've always had the same ownership, but now they're combined into one after Royal's closing down and the fire on the square damaging Jupiter House. When I heard that Jupiter House would carry over some of Royal's food options, I was under the impression that it would just be a few items. In reality, Jupiter House's sandwich menu seems far more impressive with around 20 options. If anything the #15 chicken sandwich on an asiago bagel tasted better than the similar variety I had at Royal's back in the day. They're also generous with the smear, even on the sandwiches. The only downside with their food menu is that they don't offer as many bagel options as Royal's did, but there's still a decent amount of variety. They also still have their overly sweet yet craveable cinnamon rolls. For those looking for the same Jupiter House experience they had back in their college days or before the fire, this place is no longer the same. This place used to have a ton of wall outlets and it was a great place for getting work done. Now it is on par with the vibe of West Oak, which isn't the greatest study/work environment. They have a ton of communal tables, the whole space carries noise, and they promote socializing with their "unplug and have a conversation" sign. They also don't have many wall outlets, and they aren't open past early dinner hours at the moment. It is what it is, but it's definitely not what it used to be if that's what you're looking for. read more

We have have been impatiently waiting for the return of Jupiter House. The reopened space is beautiful. However, while pretty, the new layout really doesn't flow well. The old layout felt open, the new one is crowded while having fewer tables. The menus aren't really visible in their holder so we weren't aware of their food offerings. The coffee is OK, but there are other places to get decent coffee. It is disappointing that our old favorite baristas weren't there. All in all, the new Jupiter House feels cold and we're in no hurry to return. read more
