Amie, the owner, shared that "...everyone is welcome and though we care about what's in your cup, we care about who you are and how we can make you feel at home at home even through a drive through window." This small and mighty foodtruck type coffee stop that has great coffee, company, and more! They serve cultivar coffee and have organic syrups and milks. You can find unique menu items such as the Michigander which has Michigan sourced maple syrup from Amie's hometown. How cool is that? If you're not feeling maple syrup, the seasonal drinks are spectacular and even the plant-based energy drinks are great! I tried the Tiger's Blood Energy Drink and it tasted like a Red Bull, but not as fizzy or heavy on my stomach. It got the job done in keeping me up. Be sure to bring your own mug for a 15 cent discount! For treats, the Metzler's Fischer's Kolache is the way to go! I personally like the Jalapeño Cheese. Not only is the coffee great, but the staff are incredible. After one visit, the staff remembered my name and milk preference. If there's not a line and you're not in a rush, talk with them. Amie, Kenzie, and Sarah are phenomenal. This business truly is a great example of how to connect and giveback to the community. I had heard of The Mug opening just outside of my neighborhood a few weeks back and was happy to get to try it. Today, I did and it was awesome! I asked the barista for a recommendation and he suggested the Mexican cold brew. It's made with spicy Mexican chocolate, served over ice, and has now become a favorite coffee drink of mine. Now more than ever, I've been trying to find ways to support mom and pop shops rather than chains - like Starbucks - and this is another great addition to the many locally-owned coffee establishments in Denton. Besides great coffee and service, another perk here is that the owner lives in my neighborhood AND the coffee truck is conveniently located not far from home. There is ample parking and if safety is a concern of yours during this time, both employees were wearing masks and gloves and handed me a sanitized stylus to sign the iPad when I paid with my card. Coffee Snob tries out - The MUG! The MUG is a cute bright yellow ray of sunshine in the form of a food truck and delicious coffee. I've been here more than a handful of times of the last year. Anytime I go East on University during operating hours, I use it as an excuse to stop here and splurge on some fancy barista made coffee :). My little 13 year old chihahuah loves going with me on coffee runs because she knows she's going to get a treat too. The MUG keeps a jar of dog treats to give your fur baby so they don't feel left out! Today I tried the Michigander with maple syrup, almond milk and 2 extra shots of espresso (6 shots in total), and it was a delight to my taste buds and my soul. If you visit this amazing place with their awesome people you will not be disappointed! Order hot hazelnut latte that didn't taste like hazelnut and a peach mango iced tea that was watered down and sweetened with sweet low instead of simple syrup. Kolache (pig in a blanket) was good but cold in different areas like it was microwaved. This was my first time going and in wanting to support our local businesses. I am a college student at UNT and I love coffee. I have tried almost every coffee shop in the Denton area and The Mug was never on my list because I didn't know it existed. The barista working said that they opened in June and I can't believe I have not heard of them until today. I stopped by because I literally looked up "coffee" in my maps and realized this place was 3 minutes down the road. I pull up and the barista working was so friendly and welcoming.
