I have read a lot of the reviews for Junk B Gone, and there is a good reason they have five stars! We had a couple of different piles of junk, just a ridiculous mix of things that would have taken us forever to figure out what to do with. Scott was very personable on the phone, and we set up an appointment. As it got close to the time for him to come, he called to ask if maybe we could move the appointment to the next day, since the traffic was HORRIBLE..... turns out there was a Husky game or something like that. I said that we were fine with him coming the next day, even though we were dying to get rid of that stuff, once we had finally gotten it in piles all ready to go, some of it out in our driveway. He said he would call in a while and let me know for sure about the next day, and I said fine, we were flexible and planning to be around all day. He called back a while later to say he could make it after all! Yay! I have a feeling that he made an extra effort to make it, knowing how eager I was to get rid of stuff, even though he knew we would be okay with him coming the next day - really appreciate that. He showed up, and got right to work. I am so grateful - really, it's a little embarrassing to have someone come and haul your stuff away, but he was gracious and kind, and had a great sense of humor. Really, the kind of person you want to be friends with - that's the kind of experience I like to have! We weren't sure how he was going to load some of that heavy stuff into his truck, but he did it effortlessly, and was done rather quickly, even though our whole family was out there talking to him the whole time. We had lots of rotting old wood stuff and metal things from our back yard, other odds and ends, bags of stuff, some old closet doors, a crib mattress, a very heavy drill press, a broken down crib and old shutters, a side table and a rolling butcher block table, and a VERY heavy old desk that he had to break apart with a sledge hammer to get it into his truck - my girls enjoyed watching that! We thought his quote was very reasonable - I trusted him to be fair, based on all the Yelp reviews, as well as another recommendation from a list-serve friend, and we were not disappointed. Had a rough start to our Junk B Gone experience when our scheduled pick up never came, but Scott was quick to straighten things out for us and managed to still get us sorted in time, even on short notice. After 16 years in my house, I moved from a 4br home to a 2br apartment. I had a few things that I couldn't donate: large couch, sofa, ottoman and a desk that had a hutch. I called around to get estimates to get an idea of how much it would cost. I was shocked! The first place I called was 1-800-GOT-JUNK. They gave me a range of $190-$300, said it was 1/4 or 5/8 of a truck. I commented on how expensive it was and that I would call around. They said they were competitive with other companies. I called a couple more and they gave me around the same estimate. I almost gave up and then called Junk B Gone. He quoted me around $110-$145. I told him that that was a lot less than everyone else and he said well, we are not everyone else. I had 1-800-got-junk come out and give me an estimate. I showed him what I had and he quoted me $315! I told him I had someone who said $145. He was very nice. He said that he just couldn't beat that and if I had someone who would take the stuff for $145, I should take it. Junk B Gone came a couple of hours later. Their truck looked pretty full so I was kinda worried. I showed the two guys (also very nice) what I had and he quoted me $125! While they were loading up, I found some other things I wanted to get rid of, a few boxes, garden hose, an old vacuum cleaner and asked if they could take that, too, and I would be happy to pay more if they wanted me, too. Anyway Quincy and Lou were troopers! Nice guys! They hauled away my old HEAVY piano and sofa! And they even took away four drawers and a few knick knacks--no additional charge! The owner gave me the best quote out of all other competitors. Believe me I checked! Over the phone, the owner gave me an estimated quote of $120 but when the guys showed up they had to re-quote me for $180 because of the size of the piano. Best money I ever spent!
