I absolutely love the color of my hair, what seemed impossible she made my dreams come true , my hair color is brilliant and zero damage and she put a lot of thought into it . I didn't like the Silicon Valley price since my hair is chin length and I didn't not like not having to leave without a trim or cut / you leave feeling incomplete with spending a lot of $, her next cut spot was 10 Days apart and that's unacceptable to me . You pay that price you want to walk out feeling like a million bucks . Yes I was 10 mins late but that didn't warrant a 10 day wait . She did a conscious excellent job and I'm loving my hair . Staying at this salon is up for determination . I find it disrespectful To not even get a trim c I even went before and did a prevsisit appt . A bit pricey for what I got . She did not " Push" product which I appreciate but waiting 2 weeks for a trim , not cool / it didn't need an entire restyle just a snip here and there . I went here for about a year, maybe longer. I got a cut and highlights - cost $200. I have long hair and it look good, plus I love Aveda. Last time I made an appointment like a month in advance. It was a struggle to get in and a struggle to get them to call me back. Finally I got an appointment... then less than a week before they cancelled and said they would call me back to reschedule. They never called back! So I went to Wild Roots around the corner and paid HALF. Much easier to schedule with Emily at Wild Roots and my cut and highlights cost about $100. Idk what the issue is with Juniper but I will not be going there again. read more

Bekah is awesome. If you have thick curly / wavy hair go to her. My hair is pretty difficult to cut for most salons. I've never really walked away with a great haircut until I started going here. I've had a lot of mediocre hair cuts but this is the first place I've got my hair cut and walked out sincerely happy with it. I came in after a haircut I wasn't happy with, and Kendall was nothing short of a miracle worker. I love my new haircut, and it has me back to feeling great again. i asked for the hair cutter to just wet my hair since all products contain perfume that i can't use. the owner said she would ruin her expensive scissors with my "dirty hair." she said i could put some oil in my hair that is fragrance free. i asked to know the ingredients in it and she got upset, "well, if you're that sensitive.....". i had driven half an hour in the rain to get there. they have wet my hair in that salon and in other alveda salons before. it is a supposed eco-salon. i was humiliated and won't go back. i had washed my hair the night before. read more

Every visit I've had has been a pleasant one! The service is always fast and courteous, and I'm totally in love with Aveda products now. They feel amazing on my hair, I can't believe I used to use anything else. I usually have Alyssa style and color my hair, and it's perfect every time. I take my two year old here for semi annual cuts. Twice we've had...Heidi... That is definitely not it...Heather? Whatever her name is, she's young and beautiful and really patient. Twice she has given my daughter adorable bobs and this time she suggested stacking the back, which is so freaking cute on this kid. If I were to have anything negative at all to say about this place, it would be that it's a little pricey. I don't remember it being this much last time, but this time it was $25 (plus tip) for a short cut on a two year old. I honestly pay that much for my hair cuts (not at Juniper). But they do great work, they're professional, prompt and kind. I'll keep bringing my terrible two year old there twice a year! read more

This place changed me about a year or so ago. I had a wonderful experience with Beth giving me a whole new style. I never thought I would look good with bangs but it was her advice and I am so happy I went with it. Sadly Beth is not there anymore but Shawna has filled in her shoes for me. Well.. I'm sure everyone knows what I think but, Juniper has some of the most educated talented stylists you will find anywhere. It is a gem for Humboldt. The girls spend a lot of time and money on their education. They follow street and runway trends and bring them back home to the redwood coast. You cant ask for a more dedicated, cool salon. I just had my hair cut and styled for the first time in over three years. Kim was my stylist and she did a fantastic job. I have thick, fine, curly hair that many other stylists had struggled with in the past, so much so that I just started cutting my own hair. I always say,"You are pretty much ugly until Tiana touches you". Tiana is a stylist at Juniper and I've seen her transform my friends after they go to see her. She personally has done things to help me transform my hair into something I didn't care about to the topic of conversations. The banter she has with her co worker Julie, who I also see working magic when I am in there, is very warm and inviting. I mean there is always lady talk at the salon, but I feel like this place, maybe because the women who work there are so smart or maybe because it's an Aveda salon, not sure, is of an easy manner. I don't feel intimidated in there, but it's far from trashy. That has been my range of experiences in salons, Sometimes in nicer places, stylists can be cold and hard to communicate with, not here. I feel so at ease with these wonderful ladies, having intelligent conversations and feeling like I can trust them as the artists they are. I don't understand M.S.'s earlier review as I'm sure if you didn't like your haircut, you could go back and talk to your stylist about it and they would fix it. And Jen M. I'm sorry. I have been going to Juniper for over five years. I have always been extremely happy with my cuts and colors. So far, everyone I have ever sent to Juniper has become a regular. The negative ratings really surprise me! Julie and Tiana are always willing to try new things and never get hurt or mad if you come back in and say that something didn't really work for you! This is the only place I have found in the area that did not give me yellow or orange brassiness when bleaching my hair. This place can do blond. I am recently graduating and set my appointment a month in advanced. Everything was planned and set for my hair and makeup to be done. I got a call Tuesday morning the week of graduation and to my disappointment the other girl working told me that the girl pulled a back muscle and couldn't do my hair today. I was rightfully bummed considering the fact that I knew no one good would be able to do my hair. The lady was so rude with me because she thought that I did not care enough about the girl getting hurt, but that was not even the case. They cancelled on me and I was just trying to figure what "I" had to do to still have an awesome graduation week since I waited and worked hard to get to this point. She had all my consultation advice and didn't even have the decency to call me back like she said. She had the nerve to send me on my way to "Vanity." Another "rude" place by the way. I will never refer my friends here or any one that ask me where to get their hair done. I at least was able to find another place to do get the job done. Just like that Juniper you suck. I have friends who go to this salon and love it, so I decided to give it a try even though it's a bit of a drive from my house (about 20 minutes to get there). First, it was very hard to find because they have no sign! I only found them by noticing a house with hair products visible inside. The place is very nice, very clean, and the receptionist very friendly. That said, I came five minutes early for my noon appointment and was told it would be 10-15 minutes. No problem, that happens. However, I was told "10 to 15 minutes more" several times over the next HOUR! Turns out she wasn't as much running behind as she was doing a different service than the client had booked for (according to the receptionist the client added the service) thereby making me wait. Yes, at 1:00 I finally left, and was assured that the stylist would call me to apologize and reschedule, but it has been days and she has not called. This took nearly two hours out of my day and no - I will not give them a second try. read more

I go to Beth. I found her by luck last year. Prior to going to Juniper I had a girl in Arcata that wacked my hair to bits and put a huge hole in it that took a year to grow out. Beth fixed it and did a smashing job blending it into a new cut. I didn't go in with a picture because I wasn't exactly sure how to fix it. Beth took a good look at my face shape, wave patterns and texture to decide for me. It looks AMAZING!!! She did my hair differently than I've ever had it done, and I love it more and more every day. She thickened my bangs and made them the perfect length. She made my cut much more manageable with my semi-wave. I don't have to do anything to it aside from blow-dry. Plus it's a great cut that will look good even as I grow my hair out. I love her! And the rest of the people I've met at Juniper are super nice too.
