My experience at Ky's was great!Ky is a lovely lady who did exactly what I wanted done. She is fair in pricing and has maintained her business for many years, which is not easy to do in today's world. read more

I am going to report her to the better business bureau she should have her license revoked. She has shady business practices. If anyone hair salon asks you to pay before the hair has been done. You should immediate leave. This business is not accredited with the better business bureau. You should definitely not get your hair done here. read more

Ky was very transparent and open. She was very direct with hours of operation and scheduling. She told me the price at the beginning of the appointment, and requested payment upfront, understandably. I was scared because I was new to the area and have curlyish hair. She gave me a great cut and encouraged me to try new things. Amazing job! She was super welcoming, fun, and conversational. read more

Did a walk in on a Sunday. She gave me such a great cut and showed me several ways to style my new hair. A little expensive but worth it. She is very kind and even gave me pears from her garden. She is a delight. read more

Took my son here a couple weeks ago and loved his haircut! forgot to post after! she did a wonderful job on my sons hair! he's 13. and she followed his instructions and even trimmed a little extra when he decided to go shorter. the lady was super nice and would definitely go back! thank you! read more

Ky is a really nice lady. She was very welcoming, and her salon is very quaint. I had a hair appointment scheduled with my hair stylist; however, she called me when she came down with a fever and was unable to get me in. I had been planning to get my hair colored that day as I have a really busy schedule and don't have any other day to get this done. I showed her a picture of the hair I wanted, it was a Mocha Brown. We decided this would be best because I had some residual red in my hair from the previous color treatment. We had some conversation about the color, and she went into the back to mix the color up. When she came back she told me I needed to pay. I thought this was strange, but did so because she told me in the past she has had a few people run out without paying. I have attached a picture of what my hair looks like now. I do not understand how I paid $200 to get my hair Mocha Brown and it literally looks worse than it did to being with. My roots are light, light, light. I have multiple colors in my hair. When I left the salon, my hair was wet. I could not see how bad it was. after getting home and drying it, I went right back to talk to her. I explained to her how upset I was and how I just wanted my money back. She kept telling me "To sit down, sit down I will fix it." Absolutely not! I even told her to reimburse me for half the service. I am acknowledging that she used product on my hair and took hours of her time, but I need to now have someone else fix my hair. If I was able to give a zero-star review, I would. I am not happy and have learned my lesson with going to anyone to get my hair done... I have never had such a frustrating experience getting my hair colored. read more

Requested a call back on Wednesday evening. KY called me that night and was able to get me booked on Saturday. Great!! Came here for a much needed hair cut. KY was very welcoming when I entered in the salon. She asked me what I wanted, I told her I wanted about 4-5 inches taken off. She showed me what my hair would look like taking 4 inches off, then showed me what it would look like with 5 inches. We both agreed to take off 5 inches. (it's been a hot minute since my last hair cut..) My cut came out amazing. I'm so happy with the results. Will definitely be coming back again. read more

I went to sky for the first time today. It was a great experience. Ky has been in the business for 19 years. I love my haircut and I loved meeting Ky. read more

Very nice and lovely lady she is very welcoming and talkative I really love her work and her humor

Walked in on a Saturday after noon and received a great haircut from kye definitely worth the money and I will be back in the future

Dry cut, no shampoo. No stying. Just used the blow dryer to get rid of hair. She used a slither technique to cut which left strings of hair so I wont be able to use my hot rollers. I told her that I needed more cut off the back but she said no it was fine. $70.00. I pay that much for the finest salon in Palm springs with a full shampoo conditioner and styling. Now I still will have to get another haircut. Sorry ..she is nice but that was a 10.00 haircut. read more

Amazing lady, very skilled, very nice, and knew exactly what she was doing. I came in with a mop of hair on my head and left with a fresh cut. It's a hairstyle I've never done before too and it came out great! read more

Wonderful Haircut! Ky did a detailed consultation, and we were able to reach 100% agreement on the cut and length that is best for me at this time. 1 1/2 years since my last cut, and my hair needed care. Ky gave me exactly the haircut we discussed, and I am !00% happy and thankful for her positive and caring expertise. I'm also loosing less hair now, because Ky was able to resolve the conflict between curl patterns that constantly create tangles. I enjoyed the positive energy and calming environment. Thank you Ky!!!! read more

I'm sad and sorry to give a poor review. But I would like to warn anyone going for a haircut. She put my hair in a pony tail on top of my head and began cutting. She charged me. 75.00 . Ky, did not wash my hair only cut it dry. I came back the next day hoping to get a partial refund as I was so displeased. She said no. I'm sorry I tipped her as my hair was a disaster. I went to Platinum Salon, and Deborah fixed my hair! read more

Ky gave me a fantastic haircut today, she knew what I wanted from our discussion, she brought a few additional ideas of her own, and the end result is perfection! I have fine straight hair that really needs some texturizing to get volume. She knew just what to do. Thanks Ky, I appreciate you! read more

I took my teenage son to Ky for a back-to-school haircut and she nailed it! Definitely the best 'do he's had yet. She really listened to what he wanted and was so fun and friendly. Not to mention the really cool building. We will definitely be back! read more

I paid $50 for an uncompleted haircut. This is not the 1st time I've left feeling the cut wasn't finished. She's so contrary if you have any kind of an opinion. And I'm not at all demanding or an arguer. I give up. I won't be going back. I went in last week, or the week before...and have an appointment tomorrow somewhere else to have the cut finished. Btw, she Asked me to leave a review. read more

She's sweet, but her skills are subpar. Don't go, I had to drive straight to The Trim Scene in Arcata.

Absolutely fantastic haircut, she really got the style of my curly hair and also was willing to donate my hair for me. Anytime i need a trim or a lengthy haircut, I will be coming back to Ky. Thank you! read more

Ky is very sweet and interesting to talk to. I appreciate that she was able to get me in very quickly. However, I know my hair and what kind of cuts work. My hair is straight but gets very frizzy with certain types of layering. I made it clear several times I only wanted a basic trim and I asked her not to take much off. I have spent years growing it out. She took a huge chunk off the front and it doesn't blend well with the back. (Think, a bad version of "The Rachel"). The layers are jagged and were frizzy the moment I stepped outside. I am not happy with it and will not be going back. This is going to take me a year to grow back to get to the length I want and I am feeling pretty upset. I would recommend Ky to people who want someone to make decisions for them. I thought I was pretty clear about what I wanted and I feel like she did what she wanted. Also, she kept telling me that I "need to highlight my hair to cover the greys." She said it probably five times even though I was clear I don't want that. I don't even have that much grey! read more

This place is like a secret in Eureka. Who would think that the double dome with the walk in sign on Myrtle Ave would work out so good. Ky is an experienced hairstylist who certainly knows what she is doing with cut and color. Don't forget to ask to see her secret garden. read more

I went to Ky's earlier this year for a blonde balayage, I showed her many pictures of what I wanted and was given crappy 2000s highlights sparsely throughout my hair. It took her about an hour from beginning to end to do my hair, this was including breaks for her to have me do chores around her shop for her (uploading profile photos, carrying out cardboard garbage). She was nice to me but aggressive with payment and took advantage of me not really knowing what was going on. At the end my hair looked awful and she didn't even dry it. I am a people pleaser and tried not to cry in front of her but completely lost it the rest of the night. This was the worst hair experience I have ever had in my life and I do not recommend her. The next salon I went to to fix it said it was the worst professional work they had seen. All of this being said the hour long session cost me 220 dollars and a whole lot more to fix it elsewhere. read more

I hadn't had a haircut in a while since going to another salon in Arcata that gave me a wolf cut. The wolf cut is fine but it's not for me. I have Asian hair and I'm not trying to look like a J-rock star, Ky can actually give me a normal hair cut, which is fairly challenging to find outside of major cities. read more

Run don't walk in the other direction. I was told I needed a deep conditioning. I said okay and she proceeded to tell me how great my hair was going to look. I specifically made an appointment to get my hair styled so it would not be straight and flat and that is exactly what I got, This was for a very important event. After she told me she would curl and fix "nice" a 4 minute blow dry and straight flat hair were only half the problem. I needed just a few things trimmed on the bottom . I said I did NOT want any length off ~ she cut over an inch. After being quoted $150 for all the wonderful things she was going to do ( she said the deep conditioning was expensive ~ $40) I said I would skip that and get it done next time. Then she said ~ oh I forgot to ad $20 for styling ~ It will be $170 (obviously she forgot to deduct for conditioning) Just feel ripped off. I would NOT RECOMMEND TO ANYONE !!!!! read more

Ky is everything I anticipated from reviews I had read. She is just sweet as can be and very welcoming and she did a great job on my hair. Yes, her prices are a little more expensive but, like everyone else had said, it is well worth it. I have long, stick straight hair and a lot of it. She cut some layers for me and blended them just beautifully. I will definitely be going back! read more

I fixed this girls hair at my salon after her visit to Ky's. She went in originally to just have her hair re toned and somehow she ended up with a bunch of highlights she didn't want, they completely fried her ends, there were pieces of hair that were completely melted off where the blonde starts she wasn't happy with the outcome since there was a lot of brassy orange tones through her hair (remember she didn't even want a color service to begin with) she insisted they fix their work and instead of doing it the right way they tried to slap color over the new highlights then charged her 500 dollars. She was in TEARS, it was terrible and I'm shocked at how terribly this was executed. Thank goodness I was able to fix this for her. read more

Hi I saw Ky last week. She cut and styled my hair and gave it a deep moisturizing treatment and it looks and feels amazing. Wow I didn't even realize I needed it so much. The environment was super inviting and made me feel relaxed. As awesome as it all turned out I really can't wait until my next hair appointment. Thanx Ky you're a fantastic hairstylist read more

She charged me $78 for a 5 min horrible haircut. This is the first time I leave a bad review for anyone in my life. Although Ky was friendly, she was not very professional. We booked our appointments ahead but we found out that not only she overbooks but also accepts all the walk-ins she can get while she does not have any help. She did not want to wash my hair as I asked for. She was supposed to trim 2 to 3 inches and add some layers. She hastily and barely cut 1 inch and one short layer in the front that was way too short than the rest, then got a phone call in the middle of her job. When she came back she said she was done!! Confused and surprised, I objected that she did not cut much and did not finish layering; she said "no no no it's good, it's very beautiful" and started rushing me out so she could "take care" of the 2 clients who walked in after us and the next appointments. She literally spent less than 5 min on my hair and did not use any product but a pinch of powder. Then she took advantage of me talking to my partner about the haircut and charged us $133 ($55 for my partner already agreed for, and $78 for me), when I complained that it was too pricey for the 5 min she spent on me and that she didn't even want to wash my hair, she said it did not matter, the price depends on what she does! At that time, I did not see the extent of the disaster, as my hair was neither washed nor blow-dried, until I got home. She never offered to go back if anything needed to be fixed as honest and professional hairdressers do. Be aware, if you're not a "picky customer" and do not stand up for yourself she will take advantage of your "kindness and patience". This was indeed the quickest and worst haircut experience I've ever had. read more

Both my daughter and I got haircuts here and were really happy with the results. My daughter went from long hair to super short and Ky did a great job. I got layers and it was exactly what I wanted. Ky is a nice person and will listen to what you want. She seems super flexible too. We got an appointment when we wanted it and didn't have to wait weeks or months. Her prices are reasonable. Both times we were there she had other customers scheduled right after us so she's obviously got a good business going. It's kind of old school in there - just her and it's not all fancy and intimidating. read more

I usually wait until the last minute to get my hair cut. For this reason, I usually go to the walk in place at the mall. I have never had a decent cut there. I'm still new to the area, and hadn't done my homework in the hair department. One Sunday afternoon, I just happened to be driving on Myrtle Ave. with a terribly bushy head of hair. I saw Ky's, stopped, and walked in, expecting to make an appointment based on hoe I felt about the place. Ky was the only one working there, and she had one client that she was working on. She took me right away, fixed my bushy hair in a short time. My hair is thick and curly, but short. It grows out sideways. She thinned it and gave me a new look that was short but feminine, and showed me how to style it. Needless to say, I went back again. She even invited me to her 9 year anniversary of her shop! Yes, a haircut is pretty expensive, but you get what you pay for! I'm very happy with Ky, and will tell everyone I know! Kathy Lucier read more

My hair looks great after a 20-minute dry cut with Ky. Finished with little to no product. I went in wanting a trim, but hadn't had my hair done in a while, and it really did need some work. I have a lot of hair, thick and shoulder blade length. She knows what she is doing and she is really nice. I do have an issue with the pricing. It's the most expensive haircut I've ever had, and I've frequented premier salons in Southern CA and Boston. At most, I have paid $70, and that includes wash and dry, and style may or may not be extra. This was 20 minutes and $86 dollars. I do take responsibility for not asking for prices ahead of time. I left in shock. I want to support her business. I just think she needs to have a discussion about why her prices are so high. read more

she took me in spontaneously and certainly gave me a decent haircut but she spent about 10 minutes on my hair and charged me $75. The first time I went she charged me $100 to trim my curly hair and shape it a little and the next time $80 and I came in the third time and said don't charge me $80 and she says how about 70 and then she charged me for using a debit card five dollars so my 10 minute haircut cost $75. No product no washing no drying just 10 minutes of touching my hair. She talked constantly telling me what a great haircut I have and how expensive things are at her. Somethings wrong with society that everything is so expensive. 10 minute haircut $75. read more
