Delicious! Had the cornbread, Brussels (sooo good) and fried green tomatoes. I prefer my tomatoes lightly breaded so these weren't my favorite but good. Hubs had the short ribs and really liked them. Some friends and I tried Juniper on Main last night. The weather was perfect for outside seating (and the delicious pitcher of white sangria we shared). Our server started out strong. We got our drinks and fried green tomatoes appetizer quickly. (The fried green tomatoes were good, but honestly I have nothing to compare them to because I haven't tried them since I was a kid!) We also ordered the cornbread appetizer to go with our dinner. It came before our dinner, but definitely was our favorite between the two appetizers. The sweetened butter and palmetto cheese spread were delicious. The three of us got salads. Two of us got the Cobb salad and the other the fig salad (she chose the fig salad because it had fried goat cheese on it-she even thought that should be offered as an appetizer, but it isn't). My friend enjoyed her fig salad. Our Cobb salad said it had Romain and arugula but the arugula was 99% of the salad. Honestly there were so much arugula that you couldn't see the toppings, which I'm not used to for a Cobb salad. It was good with the blue cheese dressing, but I wouldn't order it again since it was mostly arugula and I definitely like more toppings. It was supposed to come with a deviled egg but they forgot it. After we got our food we did not see our server until we were about done eating. I even went to the hostess stand to ask for her and it still took quite a while for her to come by. There were many other things on the menu that I would like to try, so I do plan on going back. read more

On a warm summer day my colleagues and I decided to go to lunch and treat ourselves so we went to Juniper on Main. The restaurant is located off the side of Main Street in the arts district of Carmel. They have a small parking lot around the restaurant but it was full when we went so we parked in a 2 hour free parking lot behind. We were seated immediately outside and it was so beautiful. There is plenty of shade and it is so pretty with a nice distance between tables. Our server Delaney was so sweet and helpful with the menu and offering us options. I had the Forsyth Fig Salad and absolutely loved it. The chicken was sweet and savory all at once and the sauce with the salad was amazing and not too overpowering. It was a great lunch meal that left me full until dinner! Along with the salad I also got a sweet tea which I will note was definitely sweetened to southern standards. I kept on adding water to dilute it and got 3 teas for one haha. Overall, I absolutely loved my experience and will be coming back again and bringing friends and family with! read more

My husband and I stopped in as part of our 20th anniversary get away to Indy. We had both been looking forward to having a nice lunch here. There were several menu items we wanted to try including the flight of deviled eggs, Charleston shrimp and grits, and sea island platter. However, we were ignored after we were seated. The host seated us and promised to bring water. Water never came. He walked by us twice to clear a table. We saw several servers, but we were completely ignored. They'd walk by or stand to chat with other guests. No they weren't overly busy. And people who came in after us were being served. So we left. And went to Bru Burger instead. Quick service there. And they were just as busy. I'm fine with some slow service, but I'm not ok with being ignored. Very disappointed. read more

Outstanding first time visit! My wife and I were looking for a special night out and I'm really talking a NIGHT OUT. We don't eat indoor right now so Juniper on Main came up on our Hamilton County Visitors' Assn search for places offering warm, outdoor dining during the winter. We don't consider "enclosed outdoor patios" as outdoors, which are usually just encased with plastic -- we want outdoor airflow with heaters. And Juniper on Main delivered! Multiple, tall, portable gas heaters plus table level fire pits not only gave the warmth we needed on a 20 degree evening -- but a beautiful, toasty ambiance. And the food! The Savannah-style shrimp and grits were the best I've ever had and my wife had the salmon dish that was incredibly delicate and delicious. After tasting my shrimp and grits, we decided to spoon on some of the Savannah Secret Sauce (my words) onto her salmon and rice and we never looked back. Can't wait to go back! read more

Small, yet cozy restaurant. The employees were very friendly and the owners were speaking to the guests. I was seated by the door on a cold day, so it was little drafty when the door opened. The patio looks very inviting for a nice day. The Fried Green Tomatoes were delicious and the Charleston Style Shrimp and Grits were plentiful! Times like this, I really wish there was an option to give 0.5 star ratings. I felt that this place deserved a 3.5, but I am a softie for local businesses, so I am willing to bump it to a 4. I had the short ribs, which came with cheesy grits and okra. The portions were MASSIVE, which I loved. The grits were delightful, but the okra, while sautéed fine, were bland. It did not even taste like they added any salt and/or pepper to it, which was disappointing. And the short ribs were okay, but nothing mind blowing. I was expecting the meat to practically fall apart by me breathing on it, so I was a bit disappointed that I had to apply any pressure on my fork to break it apart. The meat itself did not have any flavor, which made me think that it was not marinated or cooked in anything. I wouldn't discourage others from getting this dish, but rather just be cautiously optimistic. My husband had the Savannah dish. It only contained four pieces of shrimp, and he said that his red peppers were not only bland, but they were basically raw, which did not compliment the plate. The cornbread that he added to his meal was absolutely delicious though, and so was the butter that accompanied it. My son had the kid's Mac and cheese with a side of fruit. The Mac and cheese was sinfully rich, and I don't want to know how much butter and cream were in it, lol. And I appreciated the fruit did not contain any melons or what I like to refer to as "filler" fruit. Instead, it had fresh pineapple, strawberries, and blueberries. So that was the winner of the night. The service was excellent, the atmosphere is charming, and the outdoor seating was perfect on the evening we went. So I'm curious to try this place again, but not sure if I will be making it a top priority. read more

What a great resturant! The only thing im upset about is that I have not been there sooner. Welp, that was written after my now 3 visit! The food is amazing! I normally order the same things if I like them, but I forced myself to try the hot honey chicken the last time and it was fantastic... imagine it! I'm not sure you can go wrong with anything. Unfortunately, my third visit was not as great. We had no clue the closed at 9:00 on the weekends.. we arrived right before closing... and one of the servers was horiably rude. We asked nicely if there was anyway they would take us and she snakily said no. She then went back in the kitchen and yelled "these people are not leaving". The kitchen then must have told her it was no big deal ( as they had 3 other tables still waiting/eating) we had a delightful server who actually recommended the hot honey chicken! The rude lady continuously made snarky comments about us throughout our meal which was 100% uncalled for. We ended up leaving about 5 minutes after the other tables. Kept them no longer than they already would have been there and took very good care of our server. Another employee I think she told me her name was Kelsey apologized over and over again for her co-workers behavior. Will I be back 100% Will I never forget they close at 9:00, nope. This place is phenomenal!!!!! My Cobb salad was humongous, well presented , and most of all delicious!!!! My friend had the meatloaf and was equally as impressed. We got several pitchers of mimosas and felt that they were good quality and reasonable. Kevin the owner sat with my friend and I for quite a while and was so interesting to talk to. We learned all about where he grew up, his love of southern food, why he wanted to open a restaurant , interesting facts about the house the resteraunt is in, and even how they picked the name. The Charleston Style Shrimp and Grits is just "Devine". Stopped by Juniper on Main Friday, evening, June 24, 2022, for dinner. We were greeted immediately and seated outside. Our server apologized for not greeting us promptly but was spot-on with great service through out our dining time. We both ordered the Charleston Style Shrimp and Grits and were totally blown away with all of it's deliciousness. The shrimp are very large, cooked to perfection, layered around Geechie Boy Heirloom Cheese Grits, with Caramelized onions, peppers and some smoked sausage. Layered over all of that was the most FANTASTIC Cream Sherry Sauce. I think I could have licked the plate!!!!!!!! A wonderful Southern, Savannah-style menu. Juniper is a must try on Main Street! We've been a few times now and they have never disappointed. We've tried a variety of plates but here are some of our favorites. The deviled eggs, which come in a variety flight with different toppings. The grilled cheese, which who's idea was it to include apples and tomato jam on a sandwich?! Literally amazing! The hot honey chicken strips with fries, definitely try the fries dipping sauce! Lastly the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and greens, which is your true southern classic comfort food!
