    Fried Green Tomatoes

My family and I came here on a very crowded Carmel night and we were able to get in for a family dinner. The service was very friendly. The ambiance was comfortable. We ordered Quesadillas, bacon and pimento grilled cheese, fried chicken platter, short rib and pimento grilled cheese. It was okay. Our food came out very very quickly. Some of this was fried. Oh wow, we all said, that was quick we all added. But it was cold and tasted like it had been made some time ago. My wife had been here several times and always talked about how great it was. This time she said it was off - it was different. I don't know if we ordered something popular and these were premade or what happened. It looked good. Just seemed cold and old.

I used to really love this restaurant, especially for the flavor profiles and consistency of high-quality menu items and ingredients. Lately, especially during my last visit, I am so sad to this quaint gem go downhill. My spouse and I arrived during a non-busy time and yet despite one person a table for two at the front of the restaurant, surrounded by several open tables, we were squeezed in between two parties in the back, so close to them that I couldn't hear my spouse across the table - very uncomfortable. Luckily we were able to move, after barely fitting through the tight space again to exit (tables were less than a foot from on another). I ordered a salad, which was pretty good, but I had to remove several brown pieces. My husband got the fried chicken meal which was decent, not great (no seasoning), but the collard greens were awful - we both gagged and had to spit them out. Clearly no one is tasting the food before serving it. The greens tasted completely metallic. Luckily we were able to get a different side, fresh green beans, which was a little better (very al dente, almost raw), but nothing was great. We ordered hummingbird cake to-go, my favorite part of coming here. I didn't think to check it before leaving, I just trusted it was great, as it had always been in the past. Upon getting home to indulge, we discovered it was a very stale, tiny piece of white cake, with white frosting, and a little coconut - NO hummingbird cake and no pineapple relish. I was very sad! I contacted the restaurant, just hoping to have the cake replaced when it's made correctly again, and never heard back. I'm not sure if they're too busy to care but quality control needs to be in place again. Until then, please spend your money at a place where quality matches the price, because this is not it (not anymore).

The sad remains of a dinner portion of the short ribs that we split for lunch. Just sayin' ...

Hello, delicious South Carolina cookin'. We've been here a few times but this is my first review. Our past experience taught us that their portions are large for two seniors so we decided to find something to split for lunch and I immediately landed on the short ribs, dinner portion. They offer a lunch portion a well plus something similar on the sandwich menu. This was more than enough for the two of us since the meal is so rich. The dinner portion has two large pieces of beef lying atop cheese grits, all of this partly covered with a rich stout gravy. Three pieces of cornbread were served on the side. This also comes with a topping of pimento cheese sauce which we had served on the side. I never touched it as it just wasn't needed! The beef was tender but I still had to use my knife to cut it. The grits were outstanding, just the right flavor for both of us, and the gravy was absolute perfection. The cornbread was good as well. Each part of this meal complemented the other nicely. We both certainly recommend it as you can see by our empty plates. BTW, they do not split meals in the kitchen but will bring an extra plate.

Stopped by for dinner. The atmosphere was quaint and refreshing. Quickly seated with friendly service. All the food was absolutely delicious. Cornbread and Brussel sprouts were so good I would order it again. I was recommended the crab Rangoon tacos as they are not offered anywhere, good choose. Coconut rice and beans were substituted for chips and salsa which was a solid choice. Food was fresh and vibrant looking. Highly recommend and would come back.

My first restaurant in Indiana was incredible!! Every item on the menu looked crazy good but I chose the Charleston shrimp and grits because it was something I'd never had before. Service was excellent! Helpful with the decision making process and so sweet to my grandkids. Ambiance was a massive win. Pretty pretty pretty! We ate inside due to rain but the outside seating was lovely too. Already looking forward to my next visit!

I'd give this one a solid That Was Fine. The crab cake was a bit overdone, and everything was a bit under-seasoned. I asked the server a few questions about menu items and he was ... less than interested in talking about food. The decor was cute, though, and the saving grace was the hummingbird cake. It was scrumptious.

Nice litttle dining place. They have outdoor seating in warm weather. Parking is good nearby. Started with crab cakes, it was enjoyable when dipping on lemon aioli as the flavoring was lacking. I had to get 2 main courses with local stout glazed short ribs and grilled rib eye chimichurri as both looked really good. Both meat were tender and well flavored. Yum!!! Their fries are also very well flavored. Wifey got the peach glazed salmon. It was also well flavored. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Overall, had a really good time dining here.

Went on a Thursday evening and called to make a reservation almost a week before. When we arrived, they stated they didn't have any reservations under my name. Luckily, they were able to seat us still. After looking at other reviews, it appears that it has happened to others before, too. Food & service was great though. We sat inside and it was a tight space, but wasn't bad at all.

Juniper on Main is an absolute gem if you're craving Southern fare. I went with friends for an evening out and the atmosphere immediately felt inviting and homey. We tried a few things throughout visiting multiple times: the Sea Island Platter was beautifully presented with fresh, coastal flavors that felt both indulgent and authentic. It had sweet plantains, coconut rice, and black beans. You can also add meat to it. For pure comfort food, the Buffalo Mac & Cheese was gooey, spicy, with just the right kick. Every dish leaned into comforting flavors! The service was attentive and friendly. I've really enjoyed my experiences there.

What a surprise. It has been several years since I have been here. We came within the first year of this restaurant opening. I would have to say we were not overly impressed at the time. Flash forward to this weekend and we had heard there was a new menu and the food was much better. That is definitely true! A much more extensive menu and every bite of our dinner was delicious. We even went for the Hemmingway cake for dessert. Despite being busy, the service was quite good. The hostess allowed us to sit where we wanted, and the server was patient and quite pleasant. We will definitely recommend and come back again .

Deviled egg - a must have!

Our monthly supper cub visited! Everybody absolutely love their food. We tried to mix it up, but three of us ended up getting the shrimp and grits. Highly recommend! The hubby got a shrimp boil for one and we ordered cornbread for the table - it was almost like dessert! Be sure to get the deviled eggs as an appetizer. Next time we'll get two orders since there were six of us and five eggs.

Just as good as always. Had family in from out of town and decided to take them to Juniper on Main. We started with the corn bread basket and the fried green tomatoes. Both were great. Excellent panko fry in the tomatoes and the corn bread was a bit sweet and not too course, just like I like it. Forgot to take pics of these as we dug right into both. One in our party had the chicken salad sandwich and said it was very good. Another had the Pimiento Grilled Cheese with tomato and bacon and said it was outstanding and very rich. Third member of our party had the Hot Honey Buttermilk Chicken Strips and said they were excellent as well. I had a taste and will try these next time. (These would be outstanding with waffles.) I had the low country boil and it was every bit as good as the first time I had it. Loads of shrimp, potatoes, sausage and corn. A must try if you have ever had this dish anywhere else. Service was outstanding and quick. Drinks stayed filled. We ate outside and it made for a perfect day.

BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich (Ask for extra sauce )

We arrived for our reservation greeted immediately. Sat inside, just us and one other couple...( because everyone else enjoyed the nice weather. Restaurant was busy but not a bad busy. Anyways we started with the cornbread, then my wife ordered the shrimp and grits, and I ordered the pull pork sandwich. We also had 3 premium sides , plantain , grits cakes. The indoor seating has smaller tables so if you order a bunch of food it will be very crowded. But overall I give this place and experience 9/10. -the menu changes at time so if you are curious about something when you are there , just go ahead and order it then

Turkey pastrami which I had never had before. It tastes really fresh and felt healthy. The salad comes in a little small bowl but full of goodness. It's a really nice place for a girls night out, or a family dinner. Wouldn't consider it a good place for date night as it is pretty loud.

I got the chicken katsu sandwich on Japanese milk bread and o my gosh it was so flavorful and I like anything else you can find around. The breading is light and not overly crunchy. Even if you don't like cooked carrots (which I don't!) they are sooooo good and there's no other way to describe it. You just have to try it yourself. After the carrots, we thought it would be hard for the rest of the dishes to live up to that but our daily soup (always vegan) was so yummy! It was made with leeks/root vegetables and forbidden rice - absolutely delicious and very earthy! I was so pleased with just those two items, I could've stopped there and had a perfect experience. We both ordered the mapo tofu - and it was not like mapo tofu you'd get at a korean/chinese restaurant. It wasn't a saucy dish at all - in fact, it was intentionally dry - practically charred. It included rice cake which was interesting. I appreciated the charred/crispy texture with the chewy inside. I wouldn't order it again but if you like textured, spicy dishes you might enjoy it. Luke offered to get us something else but we were already full, so we declined. He also gave me a complimentary blueberry sorbet which was delicious and sooo fresh, and wished me a happy birthday! It was very delicious and necessary to rinse the palate. We had a great time and can't wait to come back when the patio opens up - we loved their mission to assist with providing job opportunities for autistic adults, too. It's a great restaurant with a cozy and welcoming atmosphere and phenomenal service.

When ordering them off the appetizer menu, we asked for there to be a delay so we could finish them before receiving our entrees. There was about 2 minutes between receiving the appetizer and entrees coming out, which was disappointing. The pot roast was 80% fat and while the mashed potatoes were good, the broccoli was raw, sitting in water, with no seasoning. With no gravy or au jus (surprising for pot roast), the meat was not tender. My husband, who will eat just about anything and is rarely critical about any food, said his chicken florentine was very dry and his broccoli was also raw and unseasoned. He also said this place tasted like the worst cooks in America show opened a restaurant. The crème brûlée was pretty good, it's a mini for $5, the only saving grace for a second star. I told our waitress about the food experience but other than replacing the broccoli with equally bad broccoli, nothing was done, not even an apology, and she was MIA for most of our visit, despite the restaurant not being busy...at all. Honestly, I have no idea how this place stays open. The concept is cool, but there's a lot of "stuff" all around that's collecting dust, and with food this bad, it's not worth your time, money, or calories.

Friendly, attentive, and just the right amount of checking in. I kicked things off with a lemon drop (10/10 choice), and we ordered the dynamite shrimp appetizer, which lived up to its name. Chicken parm was crispy, flavorful, and absolutely hit the spot. And yes, the mashed potatoes delivered. No regrets. But I WILL be back for that shrimp scampi because now I need to know! For dessert we were hoping for the brownie (RIP to that menu item apparently), so we went with the warm chocolate chip cookie and vanilla ice cream, which was still a win. A friend of mine had been wanting to try Divvy for a while so we decided to go last Friday night…read more Unfortunately they are not on Open Table but you can still make reservations if you call the restaurant directly. We didn't really have much choice other than to sit at the bar which wasn't ideal. We ordered the Sliders which we both agreed were a bit too salty and heavy on the mustard. The cheese plate however was a hit. Probably the best beer cheese I've had yet. The drinks were good. We just missed happy hour so will come back for that next time.

We started with the "favorites" board, which consisted of a bbq chicken slider with Brie (tasty but…read morenot particularly memorable); corn brûlée (warm, comforting and original but overly salty); a little bowl of caprese salad (a well-balanced and bright contrast to the very rich corn dish but hard to eat out a tiny bowl); fried Brussels sprouts (fine but salty); and a tiny brisket taco (I didn't try that one). We were still a bit hungry after the board, so we ordered a "bacon flight" and some deviled eggs. And that is how I learned that bacon served with a sauce is not for me., whether is a spicy chili sauce, a creamy lime dip, a tomato aioli, or a butterscotch-chocolate concoction. The "savory" bacon option was egregiously salty. You might expect that when you're having bacon, but they added even more salt and it was too much. It turns out that I also do not like wasabi on a deviled egg. I would give Divvy 3.5 stars if Yelp allowed half-stars because I like the shared small-concept and our server was friendly. I found the execution on the food pretty uneven, though, so we're rounding down instead of up.

I am in the area for work and decided to give this place a try for dinner. Very glad I did…read more I got right in and grabbed a seat at the bar. I had a couple local beers and ordered the Indiana Pork Tenderloin Sandwich with Fries. They were both delicious. The pork tenderloin was piping hot, lightly breaded and had a good crunch on the outside and tender meat inside. The fries were perfectly seasoned. It was very lively for a Monday night and all the TV's had sports on. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere and got to try 2 local beers that I had not had before.

It was 5 pm on a Friday, and we were doing our best to get ahead of the Mother's Day weekend rush…read more My mother-in-law (my bonus mom) was with us, and Grindstone on the Monon did not disappoint on ambiance. Beautiful space. Warm feel. Exactly what the evening called for. Our server Jill M was the real story. She greeted us warmly, asked if we had questions about the menu, and when we mentioned my wife has Celiac Disease, she didn't flinch. She walked us through every option carefully and honestly. That kind of attentiveness is rare, and it mattered. Here's the honest part: the kitchen uses a shared fryer, which limits options significantly for anyone with gluten sensitivity or food allergies. My wife made it work, but the choices were thin. For a restaurant at this level, I'd love to see that change. Food allergies aren't going away, and guests who want to celebrate special occasions deserve more than a gluten-free bun as their only path forward. The food was genuinely delicious. Drinks never ran dry. Jill was never far. We all left saying it was a great meal. Four stars, and I mean it. Jill earns five on her own. I'd go back without hesitation. I'd just hope the kitchen catches up to what the front of house already delivers.
