Eh. Definitely not the best bbq and the establishment was pretty dirty. I had the chopped brisket sandwich and didn't like how it was chopped, plus thought the sauce had a strange taste to it. My dad got a brisket plate, but they only gave him one piece of texas toast to eat his giant slices of brisket. I sat next to a window in a booth seat and there was a daddy long legs next to my hand at the edge of the table.

Above average BBQ in a pleasant, family run restaurant. This family has had a BBQ joint for about 40 years. You don't do that in Texas without either some good quality or some marketing nonsense (for an example of the latter, see Dickey's Barbecue Pit). Junior's doesn't market much. In fact, the family closes the restaurant on Saturdays and Sundays. Good for them. The space is bigger than it looks from the outside, but it's still small. It's neat, clean, and fairly typically decorated. Pleasant. The food is good. The ribs are first rate. The brisket is good, though a little dry for my tastes. The baked potatoes are big (really big) an almost a meal in and of themselves. Other sides are decent, but nothing to write home about. There are (many) worse BBQ places in the DFW area. There are some this good. And there are a few (tiny number of) select ones that top this place. Junior's isn't in the select list, but this is a good BBQ joint overall and much better than most. I'd stop by again when in the area, but I wouldn't make a special trip just to get here.

Nice little barbecue joint I haven't been here in a long time. I am I think for lunch specials but everybody was getting the big potato which was huge obviously that is what I should I got the brisket I got was pretty dry and way too much sauce. Potato salad and beans and a sweet tea was good

With formalities out of the way, I make my second coming on Yelp by way of reviewing Brisket City Craft BBQ and you're welcome. Our society has long accepted that I am nothing short of Barbecue Jesus with standards higher than Mt. Everest. When I drive past the likes of Dickey's, their staff tremble at my mere presence within a few hundreds yard of their establishment. I have shut down subpar BBQ joints with just a glance. I have ruled DFW BBQ reviews with an iron fist that shows no mercy to any heathen who dares to dishonor the culinary masterpiece that is Texas BBQ. Nonetheless, I decided to take a few of my friends (very important dignitaries, Victoria's Secret super models and others who can't get enough of me) to Brisket City...and found this place to be an ABSOLUTE GEM. Their brisket is a solid 11/10... cooked perfectly, moist, proper smoke ring, the right bark and immaculate flavor--a rarity around here. Finding such BBQ in DFW let alone Ellis County is rare. I have decreed that this places makes my top two along with Hutchins in Frisco. I shared some gentle recommendations with their staff on considering non apple cider vinegar based sauce as an alternative, albeit inexpensive addition that would appeal to wider palettes but we all know that real men don't put sauce on their meat anyway so no points deducted there but felt it was important for me to advocate for the trans community and others who must have their sauces. I must now tend my other affairs, but leave you with my strongest endorsement of this proper smokehouse. It's worth the trip. Until next time...

I looked online where they offer online ordering for pickup and fish was not there. I called and a woman who refers to people as "hun" (which is patronizing and should not be used) told me the two options without price listings so I had to ask for prices after they described the plate options. Then once I knew what I wanted I called back later to order by phone. The same woman answered and told me I needed to use the online ordering system and I asked how could I if the Fry-day special isn't there? She then had to step away and ask someone about this and confirmed she had to take our order(which is what I had already said). I ordered the four piece fish plate with two sides, $18. They said it'd be 10 minutes so my husband immediately left to pick it up. When he brought it home I opened it and they gave me fish with no sauces of any kind. I tried the fish. It was fresh but dry- and had little flavor. I opened the spicy creamed corn, there was no spice. I opened the pinto beans and the smell was unappetizing. So I decided to return the meal and request something different. I took the food back and told them of my dissatisfaction. The restaurant was bustling with families dining inside of a more mature crowd. I think they'd need to do something a little more fun to bring in lots of younger families to dine in. The supervisor and seemingly head chef took back the food and said this is why they don't have fish on the online menu. I said "what do you mean"? He answered because it may not travel well. I think they missed the point here. Fish is not a winning dish for them. The fish was flavorless and dry. The sides were unseasoned. As a replacement I got a loaded baked potato and slice of pie ($13.50+ $4.19) since I wanted something for equal value. The pie was fine. The potato was really great! This is where they shine. They make awesome sausage and well flavored chicken. I will not be back for fish but I would definitely return for sausage or chicken and for managers that make having a bad experience easy to resolve.

Walking into this place immediately gives you the feeling of an old-school neighborhood BBQ joint…read more The building itself is older and pretty small, with just a handful of booths and several small tables packed into the dining area. The decor is very minimal, but one wall completely covered in customer signatures honestly adds a nice personal vibe to the place. Ordering happens at the register tucked into the back corner, so when there's a line it cuts right past some of the tables. Definitely close quarters while people are eating, but it somehow still fits the character of the place. The gentleman taking orders was friendly, just not overly talkative. The lady who brought our food out was very polite and welcoming though, which I appreciated. Overall, the service was okay. Our food took about 10-15 minutes to come out, which felt a little long considering it didn't appear very busy other than one larger party already seated when we arrived. To be fair, we couldn't see what was happening in the kitchen. The only real frustrating part was waiting close to another 10 minutes for a to-go container after asking a few times. As for the food, I'd say it landed somewhere in the average range for Texas BBQ. Nothing was outright bad, but nothing really blew me away either. I ordered the loaded baked potato topped with brisket, link, two pork ribs, all the traditional baked potato toppings, and their spicy BBQ sauce. First off, the potato itself was fantastic. Huge, perfectly tender, and honestly exactly what a baked potato should be. The toppings were fresh and plentiful -- butter, cheese, sour cream, bacon pieces -- and it could have stood on its own as a solid meal even before adding the meats. The brisket was over chopped, which personally isn't my favorite style at a BBQ joint. I usually feel like finely chopped brisket loses some of the texture and full smoke flavor you get from sliced or a coarse chopped brisket cut to order. It stayed moist, but I really didn't pick up much smoke flavor from it. The link was unfortunately overcooked and dried out. The casing had tightened around the meat, and even sliced up it just didn't have much juice left in it. The ribs were probably the weakest part for me. They were on the smaller side, dry, and pretty tough with the meat cooked down close to the bone. Now with all of that said, the seasoning on the meats was excellent. Bold flavor across everything, and the spicy BBQ sauce was absolutely on point. I just wish the meats themselves had a little more life and moisture to match how good the seasoning tasted. Overall, everything felt pretty average to slightly below average for me, especially by Texas BBQ standards. On the positive side, the prices were actually very reasonable considering how expensive meat has become these days. I'd still come back again because I'd like to try some of the meats individually and let them stand on their own without being loaded onto a baked potato. There's definitely flavor here -- I just think the execution was a little inconsistent during this visit.

I was genuinely excited to try this spot. When we arrived around 1 pm on a Thursday, the place was empty. They mentioned that we had just missed the lunch rush. There is a large field out back with lots of picnic tables, so I can absolutely imagine this place getting busy and lively. It just was not bustling while we were there. We ordered a two meat plate with ribs and brisket, along with elote and mac and cheese. We also added hot honey wings and tallow fries. I really wanted to love it more than I did. The sides were barely warm, the brisket was a bit too tough for my taste, the fries were too skinny (also barely warm) and the wing skin was softer than I prefer- he wings have potential - I would have loved them crisped up before being sauced. Overall, the food landed in the middle for me. That said, the interior is super cute and has a welcoming vibe, and the guy working the register was very friendly. The young lady at the front was very welcoming and friendly as soon as I walked in. The ambiance is a southern down home type feel. Very relaxed, good music and gives the Texas vibe. Now - the star of the show: the food! Smoked wings 7/10: a little undercooked for my preference but nice smoke flavor. I did get the hot honey sauce on the side but not a fan of the flavor. Maybe I'll try these with the sauce next time because it may help add flavor to the wings. The ranch was homemade - which was good. Elote 8/10: this was really good and hard for me not to eat the entire thing! Great flavor and nice portion size. Baked beans 6/10: not my fav side and I'm used to slightly sweeter baked beans. These had a tart taste - not bad or sour just not sweet enough for me. I'd definitely come back and try the barbecue next time.
