It's FISH FRY-day right?! If fish is what you seek don't travel here. I wanted fried fish and my family suggested this location since Friday's this is on the menu. I looked online where they offer online ordering for pickup and fish was not there. I called and a woman who refers to people as "hun" (which is patronizing and should not be used) told me the two options without price listings so I had to ask for prices after they described the plate options. Then once I knew what I wanted I called back later to order by phone. The same woman answered and told me I needed to use the online ordering system and I asked how could I if the Fry-day special isn't there? She then had to step away and ask someone about this and confirmed she had to take our order(which is what I had already said). I ordered the four piece fish plate with two sides, $18. They said it'd be 10 minutes so my husband immediately left to pick it up. When he brought it home I opened it and they gave me fish with no sauces of any kind. I tried the fish. It was fresh but dry- and had little flavor. I opened the spicy creamed corn, there was no spice. I opened the pinto beans and the smell was unappetizing. So I decided to return the meal and request something different. I took the food back and told them of my dissatisfaction. The restaurant was bustling with families dining inside of a more mature crowd. I think they'd need to do something a little more fun to bring in lots of younger families to dine in. The supervisor and seemingly head chef took back the food and said this is why they don't have fish on the online menu. I said "what do you mean"? He answered because it may not travel well. I think they missed the point here. Fish is not a winning dish for them. The fish was flavorless and dry. The sides were unseasoned. As a replacement I got a loaded baked potato and slice of pie ($13.50+ $4.19) since I wanted something for equal value. The pie was fine. The potato was really great! This is where they shine. They make awesome sausage and well flavored chicken. I will not be back for fish but I would definitely return for sausage or chicken and for managers that make having a bad experience easy to resolve. read more

Why is brisket no longer available to order on the meat plates On Uber Eats or door dash??? I chose a different restaurant because of this! Do better! read more

The food and staff are always awesome. Tried the new Pork wings and they were awesome! They do need to consider a name change though because when people hear pork wings that they expect the same taste and texture as chicken and that isn't the case. It's like eating small ribs. The name should be changed to suit the product I think. Maybe change the name to Soulman's Pork Riblets or something like that. Deon and Ana were great. The place is always clean and tidy. read more

I left 10 minutes ago, got home, opened my food and my loaded potato was a potato with cheese and sour cream! That was it! Now no one answers the phone! So I am at home cooking bacon to put in my potato. You sell me a dude potato in my 1st and last visit. Not even sure what's supposed to be in my husband's meal! We are patching it up after we paid. Stay away! read more

The food and the ambience is good. Very laid-back and comfortable. Good customer service and will definitely be returning. Enjoy!

BBQ is good. Sides not so much. Catfish is also good. I've tried sides several times and potato salad is like.mashed potatoes with mustard. The other sides are forgettable. read more

The Bar-be-que here is Amazing and reasonable price. The Brisket is the "Best" Professional and friendly customer service. Nice portions. We look forward to visiting soon. Thanks to the Management Team. read more

I feel like this location must be feeding kindergartners because the portion size is ridiculous. I get half of my sandwich which I requested lean and was not. Had to pick the fat off. Hard enjoy a meal when you can barely find food. The sides are very small. Maybe three fork fulls of potato and not enough okra. What happen the old days. Disappointed read more

Brisket undercooked. BBQ sauce watery. Gravy thin and zero flavor. Green beans zero flavor. Mac 'n cheese was soggy noodles, cheap cheese. Pinto beans was bean in WATER and they tasted soured. Mashed potatoes and okra were just meh. Sausage, ham, baked potato and pecan pie were good. Spicy potatoes were the bomb! Huge waste of money. Either employees didn't want to do their job this particular day or they just serve crappy, no flavored food everyday...idk but NEVER again for me. read more

Baked potatoes were very good. Wish they would let you put anything you want on your potato. Brisket was good, but the spicy sausage and regular sausage were on point! Just a bit expensive for the small amount of meat you get. read more

First of all. I downloaded yelp to make this review for this location. Have you ever been so excited to go eat some good bbq but the customer service just made you feel so unwanted and awkward you just didn't enjoy the whole time being there? Lol. It almost felt like you were in ISS in high school. That location has bad vibes and they rushed us so hard to order when we were the only ones in there. Food is good but service wasn't worth going at all read more

We wanted to give this place a fair shake so we ordered many things to test it out. I'm big on well-seasoned food, this place missed the mark. Ribs were okay, a bit dry. Sausage had no real flavor. Chicken was Texas toast was the best thing on my plate. The sides were tasteless, even the so‐called spicy beans. The workers behind the counter serving clowned around too much for a place of business and did not wear protective face masks as they laughed and talked over the food. Not a place I'd return to or recommend to others. read more

Soulmans Bar-B-Que Red Oak - Let's check it out - Barbeque Near Me - Red Oak, Texas

We got a 16er party catered from this location. The whole experience was perfect. The food was delicious and delivered on time even though we were in the middle of a thunderstorm. Great service. We will definitely use them again read more

We ordered to go yesterday. The food tasted fresh. The sliced brisket sandwich was so good. I could just eat half of the sandwich, so I ate the rest for lunch today. Easy to order on line. The only reason I gave it a 4 is their customer service could be better. There were several people behind the counter and had to wait a little bit to be acknowledged. Also the sauce was missing from one of the orders. read more

will never eat there again food was cold also the service that I was given was very poor when I brought the issue with the manager he was very unprofessional will not recommend this place to anybody read more

I had ordered two holiday dinners for my church. Checked on the order the night before. When I got there Sunday to pick the meals up, they told me they had dropped the ball. Nothing was ready! They hurriedly put food together as I had people waiting. Sides were lukewarm at best and bean juice leaked out of container all over my suv! read more

I come here at least once a week. one thing I constantly deal with is the inconsistency with portion sizes. Today was the last draw, I give up and will find another BBQ place. After spending $41 for 2 combos, I honestly feel like a was ripped off. I am definite that anyone would agree. Of o can find a way to post the picture, I would. read more

We ordered take out and had it delivered with uber eats. They messed up the order and forgot the drinks. I know... well, it's the principle but we spent over 90 dollars, and the manager or whoever answered the phone acted like we were trying to rip them off or something. I understand shrink and people out there will lie to get something extra. I got told that's not our problem. Well, next time I'll keep my 90 dollars and buy some duroc online. The food was not worth the price tag. I told my team if we are eating bbq again, I'll smoke it myself. Terrible customer service . read more

Went by Soulman's BBQ in Red Oak on Saturday to pick up a pound of sliced brisket and some pinto beans. I had bought this before for around $15/lb and a 16 oz cup of beans for about $5. High, but they do have pay overhead. I didn't even look at the menu to check prices on this recent visit, assumed they'd be about the same. However,.. Went to check out and the pound of sliced beef alone was $25 and they were going to charge an additional $8.50 for the equivalent of a can of beans you can get at the grocery store for about $1. I told them that's ridiculous just cancel the order. I told them I had paid about $15 not too long ago. They lied and said, no prices did go up a little but only $2/lb. No they went up about $7 /lb. And their BBQ is mediocre at best. Now I love Juniors BBQ just down the street, I used to eat there often when I worked in the area, but unfortunatley they're not open on weekends. So I have to reduce my standards occasionally on the weekend and go to Soulman's. But I won't be doing that anymore. I have in the last few months on a Friday evening bought Junior's family pack which gives you a pound of meat and 3 pints of sides for $22.95. Obviously that's much less than the approx $40 you'd have to pay at Soulman's for less quality food. And Juniors per pound price for brisket is $14.95. And all of their BBQ is great. So if you're looking for BBQ near Red Oak,... pass by the high priced posers at Soulman's and get some great real Texas BBQ at reasonable prices at Juniors. I have no affiliation with Juniors. I just can't tolerate being ripped off by businesses trying to take advantage of customers while we have a government and politicians that are already hurting citizens with the abuse of their fiduciary responsibilty and destruction of the buying power of the dollar only to enrich themselves. I'm pretty sure Soulman's received millions in tax payer funded PPP money while Junior's was too small to receive any. And Juniors isn't trying to gouge its customers. Its prices have barely changed. Soulman's is no doubt gouging its customers with far inferior food because of a lack of competition. read more

Love this place. The food is good, but the staff is amazing. These are the nicest people we have met. Def coming back!

We ordered a slab of ribs with 2 sides. (Coleslaw and bake beans ) The ribs were seasoned as well as the beans. The ribs were tender. We dined in on a Saturday around 3pm. The place was quiet and clean, with Covid that made us very happy that it wasn't packed. They have spicy and regular bbq sauce. We will return. Our 1st experience was a great experience. read more

Good BBQ and Fish. Customer service was excellent and full of smiles. I'll be back for sure.

I've been here a couple of times now. One time the staff was super helpful and friendly. This next time, not so much. The food is good but pricey. Red Oak location is still brand spanking new so it is super clean. read more

Visiting family in Waxahachie from NC. There were 4 of us. We tried create your own plates, and a half slab of ribs. We were all blown away with the smokey taste. Every side choice for raves as well. The local family was glad to discover, and we come visit twice a year and it will be a guaranteed meal when we visit. We highly recommend the food, the place, and great service. read more

It's ok, nice to get bbq quick when you don't have the time to smoke a brisket, but the meat portions seem small, just wishing we were full after eating a meal that cost 60 bucks for 3 people. Ps why don't y'all trim your brisket before smoking it. No way for the smoke to get into the meat when there's 2 inches of fat on top of it. read more

Solman's BBQ has been in business for a number of years. We are creatures of habit so we have always gone to other restaurants from habit and for predicable taste and excellent service. Also, I have been waiting for Solman to come into it's own. I felt like I should have heard more about the quality of foods and service before now, but I haven't heard anything all these years. ***I was driving home from an appointment on October 22nd, 2022 approximately 8pm Saturday night. I thought wouldn't it be great not to have to cook the next day, Sunday. So knowing that Soliman's BBQ is new in Red Oak, TX,. I saw the bright lights on the building and decided to try it out. First of all it's buffet, not surprising, the restaurant was clean. The business was slow for a Saturday night, but for me that was great to see. Foot traffic soon picked up before I left. The Staff was very patient, courteous and efficient. I took the food home where I found the food delicious, fresh and appealing to the eye. I'm so very pleased with my very first experience at the Solman's BBQ in Red Oak, Texas read more

First time visit and the service was very good as well as the food! Very generous portions! Banana pudding was delicious!

For my first time there, I had the pulled pork combo yesterday. One pulled pork sandwich on a 4" bun with two sides and a drink. As soon as I ordered, the butcher began to "chop" a piece of pork shoulder and put it on the bun. For my two sides I chose fries and fried okra. The fries needed to be fried, so I was looking forward to fresh fries. I had tea for my drink. The only thing they asked me was what kind of bbq sauce I wanted, I chose original. I paid for my meal, $10.00, and went and got my drink and table. My order was brought out to me very shortly after sitting down. The "chopped" pork sandwich was flavorless and the meat continuously fell off the bun. I wanted pulled pork, and that is not what I got. The fries were undercooked and soggy and the okra was too crunchy and almost burnt. I think they dropped it in the fryer again before plating it. I'm usually easy to please but this meal was nothing like what I was expecting. Unfortunately, I will not be back. There are too many other good bbq joints in Red Oak and Waxahachie to waste my time or money at Soulman's. I can't believe they have been in business since 1974 and served me a plate like that. read more

Was in on Wednesday the 22nd at 12pm picking up an online order of sliced turkey. After the gentleman who sliced the meat gave me my order, he wiped his nose with the back of his hand WHILE STILL WEARING GLOVES AND WENT RIGHT BACK TO SLICING MEAT!! I witnessed him wipe his nose again, and a 3rd time with the inside of his wrist, all the while still wearing the same gloves and proceeding to slice meat!! I paid for the order before ZI left the house and the line was long, so I tossed my order of sliced turkey in the trash after I left. This is food safety 101, do not touch anything but the food while wearing gloves. Go clean your nose, wash your hands and get a fresh pair of gloves. I feel sorry for the people that were eating there and the people her served after that. His nose was red, and he wiped his nose 3 times that I saw. Nasty and unsanitary especially during the time we are living in. read more
