I have been wanting to come to Jungle Fever Exotics for quite some time. I have driven past it plenty of times and was curious about it but it wasn't until quite recently until we finally made a stop here. The outside of the nursery was mildly intriguing but a lot of plants and the set up definitely had the "out of season" vibe. We saw some Venus Flytraps outside that were cool and some pretty red flower plants. But going inside is where we saw a lot of exotic and impressive looking plants. There were more carnivorous plants that definitely were more unusual looking than the Venus Flytraps. There were other plants that were great looking like the little plant with spikes in the middle of the leaves. I deemed it to myself a "punk rock " plant. There were some beautiful red and purple leafed plants inside as well. We didn't purchase anything for the reason being that we aren't very good with keeping plants alive to begin with. Steve more so than me so we would need something very low maintenance. And we could have asked for such a thing and perhaps we will when we come back again but this first visit was definitely a visit based out of curiosity. read more

Went a few days ago and won't return. Outdoor plants looked rough and there is a bad pest issue in the greenhouse - first thing I noticed was a fiddle leaf fig sitting on the ground covered in thrips and spider webs (not sure if spider mites or big spiders...). The plants inside weren't in great shape otherwise either. Also not an employee in sight. read more

I was excited to check this place out because the reviews looked promising. Maybe I went on an off day. Most of the outdoor plants were sitting in questionable water. I got into the greenhouse and was not impressed. I understand bugs are part n parcel with plants, but there were carpenter ants everywhere. Aphids produce honeydew, which carpenter ants love. I didn't want to pick anything up, much less bring anything home. Disappointing. And it was overpriced. With gas approaching $6/gallon don't waste yours. read more

Stopped in today for the first time after passing by a bunch and wanting to go inside. What a cute, quaint nursery right on the corner of N Pearl St. I'll definitely be coming back for plants as the price was just right for me, and gotta support local as always! Was out on a drive one day and wanted to stop in and look around. From the outside, it's hard to miss right off of Pearl Street in north Tacoma. It's a fair-sized nursery with a good selection of outdoor foliage and fruit trees in front. Inside, there's a little greenhouse-type structure with tons of houseplants. It was in here, I found a Ti plant for less than $8 which was a great deal! While the shop itself was nice, we found that the owner did not seem to have a friendly demeanor. read more

This nursery is wondrously unique with plants you're not apt to find elsewhere. I especially like their fantastic array of carnivorous plants, which with some protection will do well in swampy containers outdoors around Puget Sound. To walk into the nursery is like entering a bamboo jungle. They've a fascinating array of water plants. Among the groundcovers, shrubs, and perennials are many you'll encounter in other nurseries, but more than a few you will not. Prices are not off-putting at all. The owners are very helpful and friendly. I always leave with something exceptional for my gardens, plus I feel like I visited a joyful mini-wilderness that leaves me feeling totally calm and happy. read more

What a sweet find. Tucked into an overgrown corner lot, this one man show jungle is awesome! Plants of ALL sizes and varieties, decorative and unique pots, starts, air plants, carnivorous plants, other exotics, you name it, he probably has it. Have been here 4 times now, and it really makes me want to but property just so I can buy more plants! Lol. Seriously a nice place to check out and the owner is very knowledgable and will help you out with any questions, give you tips, etc. Very reasonably priced and good location. Just look for the 30ft tall bamboo and you've found the place!! read more

I always have driven by this mysterious place, the outside is simply stunning and makes me always want to go exploring! I've never yet been until today. The inside is rather untamed, I expected it to look a bit more put together and kept up a bit, but it was still cool. Some of the plants have seen better days but I'm sure with some TLC they'd be magnificent. There was a guy there, going to assume the owner... he wasn't particularly friendly, just kinda hung out, when I asked about some of the plants I was purchasing if they could go into a pot, he just said 'sure'. Not much of a talker, okay, that's cool. Prices seemed reasonable and they had lots of decorative things! I'm a novice gardener and only am able to plant things in planters and pots, but this place had good things in it for me! I'll be back again should I have more gardening needs... and jungle fever? Though I didn't think the place felt very jungley. Still was fun! read more

I love this place! You can get lost for days among the rare and exotic plants, both inside his sunporch and outside among the statues and art. It's also a great place to take photos. We bought a bleeding hearts plant and it's doing great in the pot on our porch. Will come back soon! Extraordinary shop with an excellent selection of exotic as well as more common plants. This shop in an outdoor setting complete with a covered area and a unique spacious greenhouse. My boyfriend and I drove down to Jungle Fever Exotics from Seattle with a specific interest in carnivorous plants. We were delighted to find a wide variety of carnivorous plants of varying colors and sizes. The store owner was very helpful and kind, informing us that a new shipment of plants we were looking for had recently arrived. He was knowledgable and answered all our questions with patience. The place really seems to reflect the owner's creativity. Whenever I'm driving by, it gives off a mysterious, tropical vibe that makes me want to see what kind of new plants are hiding behind the bamboo and the fence. The plant selection skews toward the unusual and it's a good place to find different species of Arctostaphylos (Manzanita) and lesser-known plants like Grevillea, a drought-tolerant genus mainly native to Australia. There is interesting garden art and statuary among the plants, too. It's not a tidy, organized type of nursery with everything lined up in rows. It's funky and different--and for me, that adds to the appeal. read more

Coolest nursery I've ever been to. Great if you're into subtropicals. The owner is very cool. Bring a camera and take a walk down the sidewalk outside. He's got the parking strips and also his adjoining yard full of exotic plants that you just don't see every day. I wish I still lived near there so I could go all the time. read more
