Amazing, we just left Elm Candles Bar in Ruston Way. The location is perfect. The young lady who helped us was amazing. The 3-step process was very easy. Also, there was more than just making candles. We will definitely be returning. read more

I never thought I would enjoy making candles as a guy . This is such a unique experience because you get to be hands-on, picking and combining your own scents. I usually find store-bought candles to be way too overpowering and artificial, but these have a much more organic, natural aroma. The staff is clearly well-trained; they were very helpful and gave great recommendations on which scents would actually pair well together. It's a perfect spot for a date or a group hangout. Definitely worth checking out! read more

Really loved the experience. It's super clean and easy to do, and they explain the scent process and help you through it. They have a wide selection and you can do more than one candle or do a room spray or more! It's all priced out and super transparent. I didn't even realize I was there for an hour once my candle was done. Can't wait to pick up my candle! read more

If you want a fun birthday activity and that is low key this the place. Filled with soothing environment with amazing staff this is the place for you! Filled with different smells and size of candles it is worth the price. Thank you! read more

Elm is located in the Ruston waterfront plaza. The shop itself is beautiful and such a nice experience. To make a reservation, be sure to select the bar area and if you do not show up to your appointment, you will be charged the $10 fee. Pretty reasonable. The process is easy, and the staff really helps you with any questions or concerns you may have. They have different vessels to choose from for your candles. You can also make diffusers, little ones for your car or closet, or select already made candles at their store. Prices will vary. They have different scents you can choose from and mix them how you see fit. It will take at least 2-3hrs for the candles to set. You can go out for a bit to eat, walk around, or come back another day if you don't reside so far, to bring your items home. Elm provides such a fun experience for any gathering. Totally worth the purchases because their candles smell great! read more

My daughter and daughter-in-law took me here for a birthday gift. It was so amazing and so fun! What a classy place. The customer service was over the top. The products were wonderful. Excited to go again. read more

The scent drew us in! This shop is gorgeous and so well designed. From the aesthetics when you walk in to the tissue paper they use to wrap up your purchase. Emma was amazing in helping us figure out what we needed. I already can't wait to shop here again or online since we don't pass through here often. A MUST to stop in and support local women-owned businesses. Experience and take home luxury scents via diffusers, candles or wax cubes. Well done ELM! read more

I always wanted to check out this candle bar but it's all the way in Seattle. It is kind of far for me, until I saw it on instagram that they have a shop in Tacoma. I made reservation immediately and had a cute date night with my husband. Also with my sister in law the second time. When we first walked in, im so thankful the place doesn't filled with all types of strong scent that can give you headaches. It smelled clean. I was welcomed by the staff with the best and energetic energy and a greatest smile. They explained everything very thoroughly so we don't get overwhelmed or lost. We first had to pick out candle holders(the cup) then pick the flavors I like. I regretted mine a bit and she just gave me a new measuring cup and let me redo it. She was so patient and tried to help me to pair with the right scent and get to the ones I want. We ended up making the ones we love and we still do. It's slight expensive but I do think this experience is worth it. read more

What a fun and unique experience to be able to customize your own candle... Something different to do for those date nights or even girls night out. So cool that among my friends everyone created something different. I was kind of all over the map with choosing scents because they all smelled lovely. The staff were great at helping me select scents that would mesh well together. I ended up with something bubbly and fresh. Excited to light mine. The layout and the process was seamless with the help of staff. The space is vibrant and clean. Parking is plentiful. They're having 25% this post Thanksgiving weekend so I suggest you don't walk, but run! Perfect holiday gift idea that you can customize for your person. If you can't decide they have already made candles that are just as lovely. read more

Over the weekend, my daughter and I decided to explore the art of candle making at Elm Candle Bar, and it turned out to be a fun and engaging experience. Upon arrival, we were presented with a variety of options, including making a custom candle, reed diffuser, wax cubes, or room spray. Both of us chose to create candles, although the reed diffuser was a tempting alternative. The studio offered a wide selection of vessels, and we settled on the elegant pearl white glass jar. The next step involved sampling a large selection of scents and selecting our top 10 favorites. From that list, we narrowed it down to four scents that resonated with us the most. The candle attendant reviewed our choices, gathered the oils, and even suggested additional scents that complemented our preferences. With the ingredients in hand, we engaged in the process of mixing and matching until we achieved the perfect blend, which took some time, since we went "nose blind" and weren't quite sure what we were smelling. LOL. I ultimately settled on a four scent combination, and I'm eagerly anticipating its first burn! (It takes 2 weeks to fully cure). The Elm Candle Bar staff were both sweet and helpful throughout the entire process. I highly recommend this activity for an enjoyable date night or a memorable birthday celebration. The candle vessels, and quality of the oils and wax make for a beautiful high end candle. The price is on the higher side for a candle, but the quality is there, the experience is fun and you get to create the scent that you love, and have a great memory with your daughter! read more

A great activity if you're looking for a new, no stress creative experience. Super fun to do by yourself, with a date, or with friends! Lots of options for the cost conscious or those looking to splurge, and their collection of scent profiles guarantees you'll walk away with something you'll love. It's a perfect way to spend an afternoon! Bonus, the staff is friendly and helpful AND the location and parking are easy to find. read more

I love customization with anything, and it kinda blew my mind that there is a place I can create my own scent! Interior - Beautiful! I never knew wallpaper can be so stunning! Customer service - My candle barista(?) was super patient with me and helpful. My indecisive self had her going to get a new scent like 5 times but she was all smiles and shook off my apologies. When I was contemplating between two scents, she recommended eliminating a scent if it has a similar smell profile. In my case, I was waffling between two fruity smells - the d'anjou pear and the honeycrisp apple. I ended up with the pear and I am in loveeeee with my scent! Product - I actually made a diffuser because I didn't want to wait for my candle to cure (though there was a movie theater nearby that would be a great place to kill time.) I chose a sleek matte container and the white wooden sticks. J'adore. I went with a friend, her mom, another friend, and her 2 kids (toddler + 8 y/o). My friend's kids liked smelling everything but quickly lost interest at the actual scent creation portion. My friend and I took turns making ours and entertaining the kids (we just kept asking them to smell things lol). I saw people with older kids who seem to be enjoying themselves, so if you're looking for a family activity, this is an easy experience that is super fun! I wouldn't recommend for elementary age kids though. The number of scent options are pretty overwhelming and choosing scents can feel stressful for little ones. Totally recommend for older kids, dates, girls' nites, or really anything! read more

I've been to their Seattle location a few times and was excited to hear that a new Tacoma location had opened. What a treat! As expected, the experience was top-tier: overall vibe of the store, all the amazing smells, a ton of jars/products to choose from, and quality of my end-product! I've seen a few places pop up with similar concepts as ELM, but nothing beats the original! read more
