Elm is located in the Ruston waterfront plaza. The shop itself is beautiful and such a nice experience. To make a reservation, be sure to select the bar area and if you do not show up to your appointment, you will be charged the $10 fee. Pretty reasonable. The process is easy, and the staff really helps you with any questions or concerns you may have. They have different vessels to choose from for your candles. You can also make diffusers, little ones for your car or closet, or select already made candles at their store. Prices will vary. They have different scents you can choose from and mix them how you see fit. It will take at least 2-3hrs for the candles to set. You can go out for a bit to eat, walk around, or come back another day if you don't reside so far, to bring your items home. Elm provides such a fun experience for any gathering. I always wanted to check out this candle bar but it's all the way in Seattle. It is kind of far for me, until I saw it on instagram that they have a shop in Tacoma. I made reservation immediately and had a cute date night with my husband. Also with my sister in law the second time. When we first walked in, im so thankful the place doesn't filled with all types of strong scent that can give you headaches. It smelled clean. I was welcomed by the staff with the best and energetic energy and a greatest smile. They explained everything very thoroughly so we don't get overwhelmed or lost. We first had to pick out candle holders(the cup) then pick the flavors I like. I regretted mine a bit and she just gave me a new measuring cup and let me redo it. She was so patient and tried to help me to pair with the right scent and get to the ones I want. We ended up making the ones we love and we still do. Over the weekend, my daughter and I decided to explore the art of candle making at Elm Candle Bar, and it turned out to be a fun and engaging experience. Upon arrival, we were presented with a variety of options, including making a custom candle, reed diffuser, wax cubes, or room spray. Both of us chose to create candles, although the reed diffuser was a tempting alternative. The studio offered a wide selection of vessels, and we settled on the elegant pearl white glass jar. The next step involved sampling a large selection of scents and selecting our top 10 favorites. From that list, we narrowed it down to four scents that resonated with us the most. The candle attendant reviewed our choices, gathered the oils, and even suggested additional scents that complemented our preferences. With the ingredients in hand, we engaged in the process of mixing and matching until we achieved the perfect blend, which took some time, since we went "nose blind" and weren't quite sure what we were smelling. LOL. I ultimately settled on a four scent combination, and I'm eagerly anticipating its first burn! (It takes 2 weeks to fully cure). The Elm Candle Bar staff were both sweet and helpful throughout the entire process. I highly recommend this activity for an enjoyable date night or a memorable birthday celebration. The candle vessels, and quality of the oils and wax make for a beautiful high end candle. I love customization with anything, and it kinda blew my mind that there is a place I can create my own scent! Interior - Beautiful! I never knew wallpaper can be so stunning! Customer service - My candle barista(?) was super patient with me and helpful. My indecisive self had her going to get a new scent like 5 times but she was all smiles and shook off my apologies. When I was contemplating between two scents, she recommended eliminating a scent if it has a similar smell profile. In my case, I was waffling between two fruity smells - the d'anjou pear and the honeycrisp apple. I ended up with the pear and I am in loveeeee with my scent! Product - I actually made a diffuser because I didn't want to wait for my candle to cure (though there was a movie theater nearby that would be a great place to kill time.) I chose a sleek matte container and the white wooden sticks. J'adore. I went with a friend, her mom, another friend, and her 2 kids (toddler + 8 y/o). My friend's kids liked smelling everything but quickly lost interest at the actual scent creation portion. My friend and I took turns making ours and entertaining the kids (we just kept asking them to smell things lol). I saw people with older kids who seem to be enjoying themselves, so if you're looking for a family activity, this is an easy experience that is super fun! I wouldn't recommend for elementary age kids though. The number of scent options are pretty overwhelming and choosing scents can feel stressful for little ones.
