Consistent over the years.. wonderful customer service, clean, comfy, and modern with dog friendly rooms. Pet rules: two dogs max. $20 x dog per night (3rd night they stay for free. yay!) The small things like having soft plush towels, Mrs. Meyers hand/dish soap and kitchen stocked with cooking oil, spices, and ground coffee is a big plus. Kyle and Krissy are always friendly and responsive over email. We stayed in few different rooms and the cabins here and you can't go wrong with any them. perfect spot. Long wide runs and friendly staff. The only way up is the two seater chair lift..it can be scary, but you don't have to strap in, so it takes off the anxiety of getting off the chair lift on top. Chair J6 is the easiest to get on and off the lift. It slows down a bit on top with a low incline. There are some flat areas on this run, so keep your speed or you're have to shimmy or walk until you get to an inclined. J2 is a two-seater. It lifts up and turns quickly, so make sure to unload as soon as you're on top. Especially for shorter people, the chair lifts up and can knock off your balance. read more

One of the two places to grab a bite to eat at June Mountain. Quick and friendly service. The food is great for how quickly they need to keep serving everyone. The philly cheesesteak and fries were a sizable portion for the price on the mountain. If you are willing to splurge a little get yourself an ice cream cookie sandwich. that was one of the best treats i had on the mountain! read more

I've been oh so close on all our visits to Mammoth, and finally roads we clear to drive the extra 30 mins to June Mountain. It is an awesome mountain to board at. With wide up runs and much less crowded than other local mountains, I am definitely interested in returning here sooner rather than later. Lifts are older (kinda enjoyable actually) for mostly 2 riders per chair. Everyone must ride a lift up to get to the main lodge. From there, you can access all other lifts. Staff here was so helpful and very nice. Wind can close lifts quite frequently, so it was nice they helped us navigate the mountain with what was open. read more

They not only messed up the reservation they then put me with the worst ski instructor available as a last minute ditch effort to not refund me the insane 600 dollars and it was the worst experience of my life. June Mountain is a ski resort that I wish no one knew about, because it's my favorite and I don't want anyone to ruin that! Why I love it: it's charming, it's small, it's perfect for families. It has character. The views from the mountain are spectacular. Any day at June will start with you going up J1 - their "old" 2 person chairlift. You will think, wow, this is crazy why am I going up this old chairlift, with runs that look like they are really steep and not groomed? All I have to say is don't stress! When you get to the top of J1, you will see the whole mountain ahead of you, where you will spend your day. June only has 6 chairlifts total, including J1. This is one thing I love about it because it's easy to navigate. Our kids love coming here because we can go off and do our own thing for a couple runs and still find them. There are two chairs at the bottom, J2 and J6. They both lead to easy/moderate runs from top to bottom. My favorite chairlift is J7 because it's where all the more advanced runs are, if you like a challenge, definitely head over here and go down my favorite run - Matterhorn! There's also a restroom down here by the J7 base that you can use and there's a small restaurant as well. Tip: if you are on J7 and ready to go back to the rest of the mountain, take the short J3 which is right next to J7 to get yourself back to the top of J2. It can look confusing on the map :) Right now due to COVID on a busy day, especially weekends and holiday weekends, I highly recommend getting there early, before 8am/8:30am at the latest. The lot is small and you will want to get there early. The only thing I would want to see June Mountain do, and this is just a ME Thing, but, I would like to see them add Gluten-Free / Dairy-Free / Allergen info to their menus. Took my daughter(4years old) to her first ski lesson at June Mountain. Teagan's teacher was Ben luedtke and I can't rave enough about him. There was only four kids allowed in the class which was perfect because it felt like she had a lot of one on one time with Ben. Ben was incredible from how he spoke to the kids to how he legit in two hours got them going down a pretty good size hill on their own. He built up Teagans confidence by constantly encouraging her and working through her struggles of making a "pizza" Thank you Ben you don't know how happy you made this family. read more

The Chalet is a nice spot to take breaks before, between, and after fun on the slopes. Although it's the base of all the action, it's technically not on the bottom of June Mountain so going on a lift is required with or without your gear. It has the essentials like if you need rentals or need a restroom break. There is food available, both breakfast and lunch. Whether if you are eating pancakes or a burger, the view of mountains and June Lake is breathtaking. Even if you pack your own snacks, it's just nice to take water break and stare out the window. I suggest skipping Stew Pot Slim's higher up on the mountain and just ski or ride down to the Chalet. There's more food and seating options here. My husband and I enjoyed stopping by here. read more

For my 1900th review, I'd like to dedicate it to one of my favorite family mountain to ski/snowboard! After being a Mammoth season pass holder for over a decade, not sure why I never made it to this mountain until this season. This ski resort is about 30min north of Mammoth Mountain and is part of the same lift pass. It's a very small mountain with only a few ski lifts, mostly families come here. It's never crowded and the lift lines are short. The view at the top is amazing. The town is also very small and very cute. It's got the old school alpine vibe and very quint. Highly recommend! I've always wanted to check out June, but never made the trek from Mammoth. Well, this year I purchased the Ikon pass so June is included! We were staying in Mammoth Tuesday - Saturday last week, and the crowd on the mountain increased significantly on Friday. So we decided to go check out June on Saturday. Best decision ever. First of all, the drive to get to the resort is so pretty! Once you get there, you will find easy parking, no lift lines, empty runs everywhere, super friendly/helpful staff, and to top it all off, the view of Mono Lake from the top of June Mountain is amazing!!! I've always heard that June is not crowded even on Saturdays and I always thought it was too good to be true... but it's true! Beginners - this would be a perfect mountain to learn how to ski/snowboard. There are lots of green/easy blue runs. When you are just staring out, no need to pay the steep price in Mammoth. Intermediate - great for intermediate skiers/riders, as there are many wide open blue runs and the black runs here are not that steep. There are also some fun tree runs, that are not intimidating. Advanced - while you won't find anything steep like Climax or chutes like Wipe Out/Drop Out of Mammoth, there are some fun moguls to ski around the chair J7. It might get boring if you come multiple days in a row, but it's a nice escape from over-crowded Mammoth on the weekends. I would give this resort 5 stars if they updated some of the slow chairs... but I understand, the resort probably doesn't make enough money to upgrade... read more

Such an awesome time! My husband has spent the past 15 or so years coming to June every year, so it holds a special place in his heart. As for me, I don't do any snow sports (I've attempted snowboarding a few times and failed miserably), so I never really got the chance to experience the mountain until a couple of weeks ago. The weekend before Christmas, we decided to make a last minute trip to June Lake for a couple of nights. While there, my husband planned to spend a day on the mountain, probably while I hung out in the lodge. The morning of, I got a wild hair and decided I wanted to forgo snowboarding altogether, but try skiing instead. Since I hadn't planned on it beforehand and I came ill-equipped, we got a recommendation in town for where to buy some snow pants and off to the mountain we went. It was a beautiful clear, crisp day, the parking lot wasn't crowded (yet), and although there wasn't a ton of snowfall, the scenery was dusted with white and made for a perfect winter wonderland. I checked in at the office at the base of the lift and signed myself up for a ski lesson that day. Prices are way more reasonable at June versus Mammoth, too! For $209 I got all of the rental gear I needed plus the lesson (10am-4pm). At Mammoth, you only get 2 hours of instruction plus gear for about $239, so it was definitely a killer deal. We took the lift up to the rental office where I was fitted for boots and skis, offered a helmet, no poles for beginners (unless you are deemed to be absolutely useless with no balance, in which case they'll give you some poles, but not a single person in my class of 11 needed them!). It was a bit hectic and I had to wait a long time for my turn to be fitted, but it was likely just busier than usual being a holiday weekend. Our class was assigned two instructors, but after the first round of warm ups we got split into two groups, and James Conrad was our primary instructor. He was awesome! James made sure to take time for each and every student, focusing on building on our individual strengths and offering solutions to bridge the gaps on any weaknesses. We spent a lot of the afternoon sharing a tiny bunny hill where everyone was taking their classes. It was definitely crowded, which I later found out was because they had a huge surge of sign-ups on that day, totaling about 100 lessons. We had a lunch break at 12:30, which thankfully was for a full hour because the lodge was packed. The lodge is the reason I knocked a star off my rating - their veggie burger was horrendous. Honestly, it was the worst one I've ever had, like a chunky, lukewarm sloppy joe. There was some major disorganization on the line, so after I finally got my food I was already about 35 minutes into my lunch break. Everything is crazy overpriced, too, but that's pretty much to be expected for the location. After we returned from lunch, James rallied a smaller group of us that had done well in our practice during the day and asked if we felt ready to take it to the slopes. We all said yes, so he gave us a run-down on the ski lift entry and exit and we headed up. After another briefing on mountain safety precautions at the top of the hill, we were on our way. We followed James as he expertly led us down the run - I pizza'd pretty much the whole way down to keep my pace down, but it was pretty exhilarating regardless! Once we hit the bottom of the slope, James asked how our energy levels were, and we all jumped at the chance to go up a second time. By the end of our second run, we felt like (exhausted) mini pros! James was an excellent instructor, and I can't recommend him enough! He also offers snowboarding and private lessons, the latter of which I would definitely sign up for the next time I'm at June. If you feel like you're a hopeless case like I was, or just want to brush up on your skills, take a class with James and he'll set you (and your skis) straight! read more

Just spent a day here and was so glad to give it a try. Reasons: - Quaint, family oriented, friendly, olde world style resort - Good terrain - No pretense / attitude - Not crowded - Good when the top of Mammoth is closed As soon as we drove into the town, I had a good feeling. The mountain is easy to learn and has the quality and charm that Sugar Bowl had before it expanded. Good terrain but not massive vertical. As much as I like the size, snow quality and terrain choices at Mammoth, when the storms come, the top is usually closed due to wind and avalanche danger. June is nearby and can suffer the same fate but, is more reliable. When the top is open at June, this is a very fun place to ski / ride. It doesn't have high tech systems so, when certain lifts open or close, the lifties use word of mouth and shout out "7 is open!" read more

JUNE mountain has been nothing but an amazing experience from the first time I've stepped foot on the mountain and taken my first über scenic ride up the lift called J1. The staff had been super accommodating and always super helpful every time I come to buy a pass. Specifically Emily and April who are in the ticket office. Both have always helped me when deciding the best pass to buy for the day and I couldn't ask more from them. 10/10 will keep coming here for years to come. read more

AMAZING! I went with my brother and his wife (experienced skiers) and my sister (a beginner like me). My sister and I had a great training lesson with a couple other adults with Dana G. She was great! We did a couple hours learning some skills, then she sent us up the ski lift and we had a blast going down the Mambo trail! After meeting up together at the end, we noticed it's a great spot for both beginners and experienced skiers. They have so many trails to hit! My brother had a map of all the trails, which seems like a smart thing to bring for someone trying to hit a variety of trails. Even the staff who helped us with our rental gear were amazing. I couldn't figure out the boots so the guy LITERALLY PUT MY BOOTS ON MY FEET. We came back again this year, and the experience was just as phenomenal as it was last year. God I love these runs and I love the staff here. I even ran into my ski instructor from last year (Van) and he remembered me and we shared a few laughs as he ended up being my daughters ski instructor. Van is really excellent BTW for adults and kids lessons at any level. The staff at the rentals counter is awesome and gets you in your gear quickly and with a smile. I love Mammoth a lot, but June is so much quieter and less crazy, and it's just a stunning landscape there with fantastic ski/snowboard runs. It is clear and bright all throughout the day. We went in prime time of the year (right after New Years) and there was practically nobody. There is plenty of terrain for all skill levels, so a great family mountain. Only thing is the chair ride up can be a little sketchy, but going down, there is a small trail which is fun! read more

I planned to ride on Sunday March 15 but unfortunately COVID-19 ruined my plans. That being said, the CUSTOMER SERVICE is truly outstanding!! They gave me credit for my lift ticket and I will be able to use it next season. That's family-friendly service! Considering they are owned my a larger company, I'm so pleasantly surprised. Hearing that Mammoth was going to be jam-packed and this year I have June mtn season pass for just $99, I couldn't resist to just staying in June mtn for 2 days of fun. When we get up to the slopes and took videos, we just realized that we're the only people on that run and it's awesome. It's full powder, and yes it's smaller, but who cares when there's no one around? The sad thing though, price went up to $69 per day, but with $99 season pass, going 1.5x already paid for it! June Mountain is a true hidden gem. This season I visited June 4 times versus 1 time for Mammoth. Unlike the "other" resort, this place is very chill and welcoming. It's almost like a mom-and-pop run resort. I went before New Years and during President's day and never waited in any lift lines. I didn't have to worry about some newbie hitting me. I had runs to myself the entire day. This is a ski town where people who truly love winter sports go. Let's face it - Mammoth is resort town and it attracts sideslippers and gapers from SoCal. I almost want to give June 1 star and say it sux just to keep them away. Although it's tempting to keep it secret, I cannot resist the urge to scream from the top of Rainbow Ridge how awesome June Mountain is. ITS AWESOME!!!!! Everytime we go, we ski for hours without seeing more than 15 people. The lift operators learn our children's names and can tell us when they last went up the mountain. Lift and lesson prices are less than that other place. And when it snows... it's just divine. My favorite moments are when I'm stopped in the middle of a nice long run and can only hear the sound of snow falling. This year, the kids each took "group" lessons and really loved the instructors. I use quotations because our kids are most often the only kids in the class! Thank you Lucy, Jake, Josh, and John for pushing the boys to the next level while still having a good time. Special thanks to this year's cafe staff. We thought the food was exceptional and the service was always friendly. If you still aren't sure you want to go here, check out the lodging rates in town. Again, so much more affordable than that other place that you can afford to get toasted in the Antler Bar every afternoon. read more

This was my first time trying snowboarding, heck this was my first time ever being in snow period! I took an all day lesson for $140 that included rentals. Our instructor Brian was super friendly and very patient with us. He was an awesome instructor. The lesson started at 10am so get there a bit early so they can size you up for your equipment. It's a 5 hour lesson with a lunch break. After a couple of hours I was able to go up to the slopes. Brian took care of us and assisted us every time we fell. Which was a lot! The next day we were comfortable enough to go try different slopes alone. The all day lesson really helped and now I feel I can snowboard alone, still falling on my ass of course! read more

This places gets so busy and it is very hard to get a table if you come passed 11am. Many, if not all, the tables are 4-6 seaters and I had came by myself so I felt bad taking up one seat at a 6 seater table but there was no where else to sit, not even at the limited space at the bar. I was able to share the table with some families which they were thankful for since space is very limited with how busy it gets it would be helpful to have some booths instead of tables with seats. Food was adequate but fairly priced in my opinion. Also, you do have to take the lift to get here as it serves as more of a base camp, but a little difficult if you just want to hang out, enjoy a drink and the view while your friends and family are out on the slopes. STEPH JUDGEMENT: Quiet, charming ski place great for beginners and intermediates. Located a mere 30 minutes or so north of Mammoth, this is a great alternative if you're looking to get away from crowds and are looking to take it more mellow. There's a building in the parking lot where you buy your tickets, and then you take a two seater lift up from the parking lot to the actual mountain above (if you have a Cali4nia Pass, and now the IKON pass, you can just go straight up on the lift). Be warned, the facilities here are older so a lot of the chairlifts are the smaller 2-seater kind. The workers will guide you through the loading and unloading process. The hills here are wide and cruisy--you're not going to find a lot of challenging steeps (unless the snow is really good and the runs from the lodge to the parking lot are open) so check your radicalness at the bottom and just enjoy the runs. Also, I don't recall seeing a terrain park here so if you're looking to do jumps and tricks this wouldn't be the place for you. read more

I Love June Mountain! It's so refreshing compared to Mammoth: think of all the wonderful runs minus 75% of the crowds of Mammoth. Plus you get a better panoramic view of Yosemite's back yard all the way to the back side of Mono Lake. The snow this season is powdery before lunch and gets icy right before the mountain closes at 4pm. For a fun alternative to the chair down the face, checkout Canyon Trail, not too challenging and will get you down the mountain before chair 1 will. DO IT!! read more

A great family trip! Arrived on a Friday morning and had no problem getting up on the slopes with 3 young kids! The staff was amazing and always eager to assist when needed. The kids didn't like the helmets we brought so we rented helmets at the chateau for only $7 per day and the staff made everything so effortless. The slopes were kept up each night so every morning it was like fresh powder. I definetely recommend June mountain to families wanting to avoid the crowds at Mammoth (and it's a quick 6 hours from San Diego). read more

We had a great family week of skiing with two kids under 7. Never waited in a lift line, uncrowded slopes, nice snow. My only gripe is though there are signs indicating masks are required, the staff wasn't enforcing this strictly. There were plenty of folks walking through the lodge with mask below nose. You can't avoid these folks if you need to use the restroom. I wish proper mask wearing would have been enforced better. I would t come here if I was unvaccinated and vulnerable. read more

There are no group kids lessons offered right now so i paid for 3 hour $480 privates at June for my child. They would not give me a scenic pass to be up there to meet with her. They said "one adult one child"???? So since husband plans to ski and has a lift ticket, he's the "one adult". Now his own ski day gets cutoff, and I have to shuttle back and forth Mammoth to June as the driver. This is nowhere stated on the website so plan accordingly. How would you like to have AN ENTIRE MOUNTAIN to yourself for your wedding? Oh what's that? You think that'd be coool? We had the wedding of our dreams here. It was everything we could ask for - and with the price, THIS PLACE IS A TOTAL STEAL compared to other venues in the area (that aren't half as cool). The venue itself is STUNNING. There's no question about that. You get PRIVACY and a MILLION-DOLLAR VIEW. Hell, you can see all the way to Mono Lake. What makes this venue especially unique is that the ski lift is situated right next to the outdoor ceremony area, so the wedding procession can actually be done FLOATING UP ON THE LIFT, music and all. About the staff... They are AWESOME. Abi Ross manages the wedding stuff and she is really on top of things. Lenny manages the food and beverages and he's super fun to work with. As for the rest of the them, they were very attentive. We're still hearing great feedback about the service.
