Scenic route.

Frontier Pack Train provides an awesome horseback experience. My family and I had such a memorable experience last summer of 2013 that we had to come back for another horseback ride this summer while vacationing nearby in Mammoth Lakes. They are located near June Lake and very close to Silver Lake. They have over 100 horses and mules in their stable. They are all well trained, and I could tell they are loved and taken care of by their owners. They have three different Horseback tours. Full-day, half-day, and 1 hour. Affordable rates. We did the 1 hour, and the entire tour route was very scenic. Tour guides were all friendly and knowledgeable about their horses and the surrounding area. Make sure to bring a camera and tip your guides! My family and I have always enjoyed horseback riding, and we do it whenever we get the chance during our vacations. We've done horseback riding in Lake Tahoe, Yosemite, Pismo Beach, and even in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Mammoth Lakes is my favorite because of the tour itself. We'll be coming back here whenever we're in Mammoth Lakes.

1 hour trail ride

Amazing place for a ride. This place offers great rates and a great ride. We did the 1 hour ride and it was perfect for those who do not ride often or have never rode. The horses are all very healthy and very calm. Will do this again next time.

If you're looking to embark on a free range ride, stalk wild Mustangs, or even if you are just beginning, Frontier is a great way to accomplish all three. I have been privileged to ride on the Summer and Fall rides with family and friends for seven years, and each year seems to get better. If you're looking to have a genuine experience riding through the majestic eastern Sierra, give these guys a call - you will not be disappointed. True statement.

Good place for a quick ride (or a long one) The staff was really helpful and nice. The horses are great. All you have to do is sit back and enjoy the outdoor view.

One little girl in our group got spooked when her horse stumbled a little before we left the stable area.

You could go at your own pace and Jorge could bring you on easier or harder trails. Which ever way he took us was perfect! There were bumps and rocks and curves all the way through the mountains and Inyo Forest and the views from the where we stopped were amazing. I'd highly recommend going in the early morning too because you get to see the beautiful sun rise! Jorge also took pictures of us throughout!! I honestly didn't think they'd be as good as they are since it was so bumpy and dusty, but they turned out SO GOOD. Know it'll be very dusty. Wear long sleeves, pants and boots and you'll be good

Russ, who is the owner, was extremely helpful in getting us acquainted and comfortable driving a ATV for the first time. He mapped out tours and gave us a few pointers we would need. The ride was hysterical - we laugh so much trying to maneuver the roads. The scenery is the best and you can get close up to the flowers, the mountains, and even go up to the top of a mountain. If you try it, opt for the three hour ride and go to the top of Bald Mountain. If you are in Mammoth call Russ and enjoy your day while taking in nature up close.

I saw these two young boys by the water. It looked so pretty. Great location, the BBQ is at the playground across from the thrift shop.

The owner and staff were super welcoming and walked us through all their offerings, which made the experience even better. We kicked things off with a cider flight--our favorites were Early Harvest and Graveyard. Early Harvest was simple, crisp, and just sweet enough, while Graveyard reminded me of a Scottish smoky cider aged in whiskey barrels. I do wish there were a few more sweet options overall and possibly a current up to date list of what's on tap somewhere online, but everything was well-crafted and flavorful! To cool off, we grabbed a cider slushy (highly recommend!) and wandered the property. We visited the goats, strolled through the apple trees, and made friends with their big fluffy Pyrenees who was living his best life napping in the shade. I picked up a bottle of Early Harvest and a t-shirt to bring back to DFW. It was the perfect stop--relaxed, local, and a great way to start the afternoon before heading into Yosemite. After our tasting, we walked through some of the apple trees, visited the cutest goats, and made friends with their big, lazy Pyrenees dog who was living his best life soaking up attention. I picked up a bottle of Early Harvest and a t-shirt to bring back to DFW--both worth it! Such a charming little spot--relaxed, scenic, and just the right detour before Yosemite!
