I visited around 4 PM, but the mountains were blocked by shadows, the view wasn't as impressive. I returned at 7 AM the next morning, and the sunrise view was beautiful! There were already many people waiting with tripods and cameras to capture the stunning scenery. Tip: Visit early in the morning for the best lighting and reflection photos, especially during fall foliage season.

When you turn left off of Lake Mary rd into the campsite, just keep to the right and go further and further back into the campsites, where you will eventually run into a really large parking area. The mine parking lot is marked by a short, small brown post and you will see more in that area for other hikes like Duck Pass. As far as the mine goes: really fun place to go look and explore!! Perfect for a day hike, but be prepared for bugs! Lots of sunscreen, water, and bug spray. Always make sure the little people to go the bathroom before this, and any, hike because it is back there as far as distance goes. I honestly believe it was less than .25 miles from parking lot to destination and there are many things to look at. Make sure to hike up the side of the hill, there's a shut mine there where you can take pictures of the mine and the beautiful scenery. We have a 4 year old and she had a blast here with us! Bring a camera, and take out what you pack in! Please don't liter and don't feed our bears

The trail starts out at Lake George and is short and fairly easy, but steep in spots (however going back is all downhill). After hitting the steep spots you will hit Barrett Lake which is the smallest of the 3 lakes and not the prettiest in my opinion. A short walk from Barrett Lake is TJ Lake which is stunning and worth the extra walk. We took a picnic lunch and ate along the shores while taking in the peace and quiet before heading back. Overall takes about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours depending on pace and if you stop to take numerous pics like I did. Park in the Lake George campground.The trailhead is to the left of the parking lot as you drive in. Highly recommend this hike!

(Maybe should be renamed Barren Lake...felt very desolate there). Next lake is a quick walk over tiny hill and beautiful TJ Lake is in sight. Absolutely gorgeous! TIP: I did not return the same way I came up this hike. I veered off towards the right of where I entered in and looks to be where TJ lake turns into a creak that flows into Lake George. There were some gorgeous flowers growing next to creek and wonderful small waterfalls. This trail is not on the map that I bought at the visitor center but I took a chance anyway and followed the water hoping that the trail wouldn't end and I would have to trek back up. I found some horse poop along the trail and thought "Hey if a horse can get down here then it must be big enough for me to walk through." This trail is much easier to take going downhill. Not too many large steps and less steep then the way I came up. At the end I came up on some cabins and Lake George! I headed off to the right and came right back to the trailhead.

My cousin even had a close call when he accidentally slid off the trail, ran down 100 feet, and narrowly missed hitting trees. (Slipper snow) Despite the challenges, the reward at the top was well worth it. It was a beautiful, secluded lake. Some of us tried a little fishing, while the girls jumped into the freezing cold water for a swim. The water was so "pristine" that my hair felt conditioned afterward. It was magnificent, the water felt untouched and almost holy! This past summer, we hiked it again for the 4th of July, and it was so much easier because I had lost 20 pounds, haha! I'd say the hike is about 13 minutes up, around 2 miles round trip, and great for all ages. Just make sure you're in decent shape and don't have any serious health concerns. When I was 20 pounds heavier, the hike felt like a 10/10 in difficulty. Now, it's more like a 3/10, a total breeze!

Our plans were to drive in to the east side of Yosemite from the 120 (Tioga rd.), but weather didn't permit us. I yelped top hiking attractions in Mammoth Lakes and found Panorama Dome. It was said to be easy at .3 miles to get to the top. There was a soft soil hiking trail, paved all the way up to the top. It was definitely quick to reach the top. My wife had our 8 month old strapped to her back the entire time. We also had large group that consisted of my nieces and nephews ranging from the age of 2-16. The little 2 year old tike walked all the way up! When we reached the top, we had a complete 360 view Mammoth Lakes. There were views of the mountains, basin, and this patchy cloudy sky!! Just a note: we were here during the end of May. The temperature at the foot of the hills was around 55-60 degrees F. At the top it was around 35-40 degrees. Remember to pack a sweater! Really recommend taking the time to hike to the top of Panorama Dome.

Everybody at McGee was super friendly and helpful with making sure we had the best possible trip. Our packer Paula was awesome and she made the trip so much fun. Loved the mules we got to ride. McGee canyon is beautiful, there were so many wild flowers. Looking forward to booking again in the fall when the leaves start to change. Highly recommend McGee pack station. I would ignore the reviews of the owner being rude. She was incredible. Great customer service, communicated with us clearly and was just as excited for us as we were to go on our ride.
