We came here for Labor Day weekend. There's something so calm and peaceful about June Lake. Every one is so friendly, helpful and there are so many cute shops, restaurants, and things to do. My personal favorite was star gazing. You don't get that in Los Angeles or Orange County. We just chilled, the lake is beautiful, the water is turquoise and just pretty with the mountains on the backdrop. You'll fall in love with this cute and quiet town. Please note, arrive early, especially on a Saturday. We arrived before 10:00 am and the parking attendant told us we made it just in time because there were only 4 parking spots left! There aren't many parking spots, so I would plan to come here early. This place is the spot to relax and enjoy the outdoors. We'll be back again in the future.

The sites all seemed to be on the smaller, cramped side and a bit dusty, but overall clean. Deer liked hanging around the campsites as did the wasps. The single occupancy flush toilets were clean and in good condition despite a busy weekend. They had a cleaning chart on the door so people came in frequently to clean it. Good campground near Gull Lake and June Lake if you don't mind a smaller site!

The good: nice big tables, good fire ring, easy access to water and clean restrooms. Area is pretty, and it's close to the lake. The host is very friendly and informative, and sells fire wood. The bear boxes are big and work well. Sites have pull through parking, so it's very easy to park. Most of the sites have decent shade in the daytime. Short walk to gull lake. The bad: sites are not private at all. Sitting in my site, I can see directly into no fewer than 9 other sites. It's also right off the June Lake Loop, which means cars are very audible at all hours. I was also awakened this morning by a helicopter flying very low at 7 am. It has continued running laps all day. The host informed me that they're replacing power poles with more sturdy ones. This is a good thing, but not for campers in 2020! Be warned. Overall, with the exception of the helicopters, this campground is fine. I'm giving it 4 stars because I really can't hold the helicopter noise against the campground.

Skyler was awesome and showed the boys where to catch crawdads. Also, the boat rental rates are the best in the area. We rented a flat bottom boat for $75/ day. We took a lunch break and ate at June Pie - bomb pizza. Then we returned to the lake and killed it. We caught several trout and way too many perch. Definitely a great fishing lake.

Although we ended up getting the 4 person boat, it was so worth it. My husband and kids were able to go fishing and we had a nice time. They didn't catch anything, but that's okay. We had a wonderful time at Oh Ridge campground. We were able to snag spot #10, which gave us a…read morebeautiful view of the lake from our campsite. The site was pretty exposed, even though we a nice sized tree next to us (good to have/ bring some extra sun shade, it was HOT). With some weed whacking/ traversing, it's a 10 minute-or-so walk straight down to the beach area of the lake. It's 15-20 minutes if you take the marked trail/ road. After a long morning/ afternoon of hiking it was nice to take a dip at the lake! Flush toilets were a nice touch, no showers. The camp sites are very close together in Bear Loop, little privacy, luckily we had respectful neighbors. The ranger told us, when we were checking in, to be mindful about cleaning up our food well and using the bear lockers on site... there had been a bear sighting on the grounds earlier in the week. We didn't see any bears, didn't see much wildlife except for the birds and saw a deer while driving into town. Lots of cute little chipmunks making their appearance at our site as well!

Gull is one of the smaller lakes in the area, with plenty of fishing opportunities like her larger cousins June, Crowley, and Convict, to name a few of the hundreds. Camping is first-come, first served... and despite the signs telling you to "wait for the host," I suggest going and knocking on their camper door so someone doesn't steal it out from under you. Some of the lake is circled by cattail reeds, so shire access is perhaps more limited at times. However, Gill doesn't feature the summer annoyances of waterskiing and weekend jet-boaters like larger June does. Winter freeze hits this area hard, and the trout season ends at the latest in November up here. April is still mighty cold when it reopens... but plenty of great opportunities up here Spring through Fall.

We stayed Sun-Wed and we enjoyed it. Van and his wife Dawn keep the home so clean and well kept, which was important to us. During our stay we walked to the Tiger Bar restaurant, coffee shop, general store and brewery in 3-4 minutes. Couldn't have asked for better hosts in one of our favorite cities to visit. We cannot wait to be back. Van and Dawn, looking forward to making our reservation for next summer.
