Mammoth Mountain Scenic Gondola was one of the highlights of our Mammoth trip! We decided to get…read moreon the gondola towards the end of our adventure and turns out we made the right choice! The Gondola takes you up to McCoy where you can get off and enjoy an intermediate course or stay on and head up to the top of Mammoth Mountain! We started off thinking we were going to just enjoy the cafe up there and the views and then some of us would head back down the gondola. Turns out, my boys decided to take the chance and ride down the top of the mountain with me while my wife headed down on the gondola and met us at the bottom after getting some gifts from the gift shop. The way down is a little frightening if I am to be honest but I am a strong believer in the adage, where there is a will there is a way! My boys coming down with me was a wonderful life lesson and a truly exhilarating and exciting adventure! I highly recommend taking the gondola to the top! 5 stars for sure and 2 thumbs up!!

My younger one barely met the height limit (38 in) so we were not sure if he would be able to enjoy all/most of the other attractions. The mountain coaster was fun for all of us. We ended up doing it twice. The price to "re ride" is lower. We paid about half the amount to ride it again. Would recommend coming here if you have kids who meet the height limit.

The road is dirt and mostly easy to navigate. There are a few bumpy sections and limited areas to turn around. There are areas to pull off and explore. If you go all the way to the gate, there is a parking area down a slight hill. When I was there last week, it seemed pretty rutted. I opted to park closer to the highway and walk more. I regular SUV is sufficient to get back here. I low clearance car or minivan may is at your own risk. The dome itself is a pile of rocks. The significance of it is interesting but there is not information at the site to give any history or facts. You essentially walk around and explore looking for interesting pumice or obsidian rocks. The walk to the top is short and moderately steep. I would recommend your walking or hiking shoes. It is also exposed so have sunblock and a hat. Water if need it or expected to stay for extended duration. Price: $0. Overall, a cool place to stop for 30-60 mins off of hwy395. It wouldn't be my only destination but would work in for in the area. It is a cool one for kids and rock lovers.

The first time I visited HorseShoe Lake, the lot was packed, and the hike was no joke! I was out of…read moreshape, and there was still a lot of snow on the trail in July! It was tough. My cousin even had a close call when he accidentally slid off the trail, ran down 100 feet, and narrowly missed hitting trees. (Slipper snow) Despite the challenges, the reward at the top was well worth it. It was a beautiful, secluded lake. Some of us tried a little fishing, while the girls jumped into the freezing cold water for a swim. The water was so "pristine" that my hair felt conditioned afterward. It was magnificent, the water felt untouched and almost holy! This past summer, we hiked it again for the 4th of July, and it was so much easier because I had lost 20 pounds, haha! I'd say the hike is about 13 minutes up, around 2 miles round trip, and great for all ages. Just make sure you're in decent shape and don't have any serious health concerns. When I was 20 pounds heavier, the hike felt like a 10/10 in difficulty. Now, it's more like a 3/10, a total breeze!

It's very scenic and drains into one of the Twin Lakes. I had difficulty finding a convenient place to see it up close in the lake campground area during my recent visit there (unlike my prior trip there in 2005 from what I recall). However, one good place to see it is at a small parking lot off Lake Mary Road west of the tunnel. One can look straight at the waterfall with the nice lake in the foreground. Also, there's a point further uphill on Lake Mary Road where it passes the top of Twin Falls and one can look down it.
