Our snowmobiling adventure in Mammoth was an absolute blast and easily one of the highlights of our trip. From the start, our tour guide K made the experience feel personal and relaxed. He encouraged us to go at our own pace, which made the ride much more enjoyable and comfortable. K really went above and beyond to make the tour special. He took photos of me and my girl throughout the trip so we could focus on enjoying the moment instead of worrying about capturing it ourselves. It felt like a private adventure rather than just another tour, which made it worth every penny. What stood out most was how knowledgeable he was about the Mammoth area. During our stops, he shared interesting facts about the land and surroundings, which added a whole new layer to the experience. He also constantly checked in with us to make sure we were having fun and comfortable. If you're visiting Mammoth, booking a snowmobile tour is something everyone should try at least once in their lifetime. And if you want to make sure you have an amazing experience, definitely ask for K as your guide. You won't regret it!

Amazing tour. Super convenient across from Mammoth Mail Lodge and next door to Mammoth Mountain Inn. Made reservations for an 830AM tour and greeted with blue skies and moderate temps. We started right on time and started with a short safety video. Then it was out to be assigned a sled and orientation with a quick check out. Then onto a series of groomed FS trails. We lucked out and everyone managed to maintain pace so we didn't have a lot of stopping required. If someone in the group is afraid or in poor control then I recommend riding double with someone who is more comfortable. Once at the open area you're welcome to swap drivers Because the ride out was at a reasonable pace, once we reached the meadow we had plenty of time to ride. *NOTE* Don't expect to be ripping thru powder and sailing off cliffs. They have a decent sized flat track to race around and a few nearby trails which is perfect for newcomers. We then moved on to a scenic location where more pictures could be taken. The trail back we all road a little faster as the group became more capable and confident. These types of tours are all about how organized the operator is. Sometimes it's like herding cats and you barely make it out the gate. I thought our guide Kristina did amazing keeping everyone moving at a good pace. Definitely recommended!

What a fun adventure! Lucas was our guide and he did a fantastic job. He made sure we were comfortable and gave us a great experience. We viewed beautiful snowy terrain and saw 3 craters. We also got time to play around and take pictures. It was a great day. We went at 1:15 so the sun was out and it wasn't too cold. Scar, who booked the reservation for us, was so nice and friendly. She helped with the check in process and was a great help. Highly recommend this group.

The snowmobiles lined up at scenic point stop

It was a great experience and a lot of fun. Our guide, Kay, was very friendly and did an excellent job at helping out beginners but also giving a chance for you to open up a bit. There was also an oval track that you stop at from the trails where can 'race'. It was a lot of fun! FYI, the parking can be kind of hard to find. You go past all the ski slope parking and at the top go in past the guard house for the inn. Just tell the guard you have reservations. Highly recommended!!

My husband booked this adventure activity for my birthday trip. It was wonderful!! It was even more fun than I expected, the guides are professional and friendly. The trails we drive on are so beautiful! It feels like in a fairy tale of a snow globe. You should totally come to check it out if you travel here.

    Friends and adventures

This was my second time doing snowmobiling at this location. Once again, they did not disappoint. Our guide, Kehulu, was absolutely amazing and knowledgeable. He was fun and upbeat and made the experience even that more fun with my friends. I would definitely recommend this activity to others and I will be back next year!

By far the best snowmobiling adventure in town. I've done them all. Located across from the main lodge. Wyatt our guide was excellent . Beautiful trails you ride on, through the trees and open fields. The playground was an absolute blast, they let you go around an oval as fast as you want in safely manner. Make sure you dress warm, especially first thing in the morning, it gets cold out there. The sleds have hand warmers, that work fairly well but your thumbs will still get cold to the point they feel like they will fall off lol. The later sessions are not as bad. Highly recommend!

This is our 3rd time using Snowmobile Adventures with our entire extended family and it wonderful just like before. Kristina Cook was our guide and she was amazing. She took us through a beautiful track in the forest and she was always checking on us to make sure we were keeping up and most importantly having fun. We started off with her teaching us about snowmobiles and ended with Hot Chocolate that hit the spot. 5 stars all the way!!

We took our 2nd tour with Snowmobile Adventures and had such a great time! "K" was our guide and took us through a beautiful snowy landscape, always making sure to check up on the group and see how we were doing. We went on a Tuesday, so it was great to only have one other couple with us where we could spend more time riding around. He was friendly, gave us fun facts about the area, and a great conversationalist. We are already planning to come back to Mammoth at the end of the month for my birthday and would love to do this again! Highly recommend to anyone!

Ask the Community - Snowmobile Adventures

Do you guys rent out goggles?

Yes, they rent them out for $5

My husband and I are looking to go & we're thinking of renting the double, do you have the option to switch who gets to drive or is it one driver the whole time?

Thanks for the question and yes you can trade off as driver as long as you both feel comfortable operating the vehicle. It’s super fun to drive your own machine but a double is a great experience too.

Managing a group of kids with very different skill levels is no small task, but Drew handled it with patience, enthusiasm, and impressive skill. He quickly assessed where each child was at and tailored his guidance so everyone felt challenged while still having fun and building confidence on the mountain. Over the two days, Drew took the kids all over the mountain, helping them explore new terrain while always keeping safety front and center. His clear instructions and practical tips made a noticeable difference in their skiing, and it was great to see their progress even within a short time. Drew has a great way of explaining technique in a way kids understand, which helped them improve without feeling overwhelmed. One of the highlights for the kids was spending time in the ski park, where Drew showed them some fun tricks and helped them try new things safely. He struck the perfect balance between encouraging them to push their limits and making sure they stayed in control and confident. By the end of the lessons, all four kids were excited about how much they had learned and couldn't stop talking about their favorite runs. We're incredibly grateful for the experience and would highly recommend Drew Harris to other families looking for a fantastic ski instructor. His ability to manage multiple levels, keep kids engaged, and make learning fun made these two days on the mountain truly memorable.

Knowing how the bus system works is a must as you'll probably inevitably have to take them. This is the only place I've ever seen Disneyland long lines to take the bus at the end of the day at 4pm, while buses are stuck, stopped in a gridlock traffic jam. The line for a chairlift on a Monday wasn't even that long, yet somehow took almost 1.5 hours due to a conglomeration of factors. People either don't know or pretend they don't know how the chairlift lines merge and they have to wait their turn and merge 1,2,1,2, so whole families trying to cut in front of each other ended up yelling at each other, causing a scene. Everyone's frustrated and impatient with the chairlift lines and how slow they move. Yet then you'll randomly find another chairlift on the mountain with no line, and can stick to it all day and it will never grow a line as people's brains don't work too well at these high altitudes and they'll just keep flocking to the same Disneyland long line ones like sheep. The people here are really nice, like surprisingly nice and helpful. People will stop and make sure you're okay if you fall. One guy/simp even spent an hour helping my girlfriend slowly down the mountain after we got on a run too steep for her and got separated. There's a few outliers as always though, with the 3 degenerates in the car parked next to us bragging/joking about all the people they ran down that day, as it was early season and crowded. I saw one teenage snowboarder run down some little kid, and then take off as the kid's dad was screaming at him. As for the employees here, they're extremely nice and helpful. I definitely plan on coming back later this season after the crowds subside.

I planned this trip with a group of friends, and they could not stop commenting about how the chalets was the best stay they've been in at Mammoth. We stayed at chalet #9 which was not a ski out, but a very short walk to the main lodge/lifts and definitely a ski in from lower road runner. The chalet itself was cozy with plentiful seating, and even extra foldable chairs for our group. The beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms came equipped with hotel sized toiletries, which was a nice touch. The kitchen is a good size and well equipped with all the necessities, along with a fridge/freezer that was the perfect size to fit all of our weekend groceries. I also appreciated that they even had a huge pot to make group meals like pho, even though I had already brought my own instant pot. I would 110% stay here again and recommend the chalets to all of my family and friends. This was such a wonderful find. Thank you for the awesome stay Mammoth Mountain Chalets! :)

The location is excellent -- less than a 5-minute walk to the gondola. They also offer ski valet right in the lobby, which makes the walk even shorter. Huge plus: boot dryers. Check-in was super easy, and we upgraded our room to one of their "condos." Just to set expectations: this isn't a full condo. It's essentially a hotel room with a small living area and a Murphy bed. Still comfortable and totally fine for what we needed. The best part of this hotel is that it's dog-friendly -- and truly dog-friendly. Any size dog, big or small, and there were dogs everywhere (including ours). There's a forested area behind the hotel that's perfect for letting your pup play in the snow. One downside: some guests don't pick up after their dogs, so there was dog poop around even though the hotel provides bag dispensers. Maybe adding more (or enforcing cleanup) would help. The price is good, the hotel is clean, but it is old -- very old -- and definitely showing its age. The hallway floors are uneven, the elevator makes some questionable noises, and nothing about it feels modern. That said, after skiing all day, the four hot tubs and heated pool are amazing and very much appreciated. I stay here for convenience, not luxury. The beds are comfortable, towels are clean, and that's honestly all we need. Plus, it's close to The Yodler, our favorite restaurant. We've stayed here many times before and will stay many times again.

It honestly felt like people were walking inside my room. The room itself is poorly maintained and outdated, with dirty, stained carpets and a bathroom that was not clean. Nothing felt refreshed or well cared for, which is unacceptable at this price point. Breakfast was equally terrible. The food was cold, the omelet was tough and rubbery, and overall the quality was far below expectations--borderline inedible. Between the noise, lack of cleanliness, outdated rooms, and overpriced rates, this place is absolutely not worth the money. I would not stay here again and do not recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable or restful stay.

I…read moremean, if you're a skiier, you probably already know about it, but in the off season (before the snows), you can get a room for a low rate, and still have the whole of Mammoth Lakes at your doorstep to explore! Tons of shops, restaurants, breweries, distilleries, etc. await! For amenities, Juniper Springs Resort boasts a pool, an exercise room, a jacuzzi, and beautiful lounging areas. The rooms all have small balconies where you can get some fresh air and admire the scenery. And (we learned mid-trip) the resort is one of four regular stops for the local free shuttle/trolley that comes by every 30 minutes or so and is free to use. On top of that, the resort is adjacent to one of Mammoth Lakes' many ski lifts, so at least some of the runs are available literally right at your doorstep. The room we rented was comfortable and spacious, with a full kitchen, nice comfy living room with gas fireplace, and a separate bedroom, and there were TVs in both rooms. Parking, by the way, is underground, which is assuredly a huge perk during the winter snows. Overall, we were very pleased with our stay, and would definitely consider staying there again. Couple of things they could have done better: 1. Guests should be made aware at check-in of the availability of the shuttle/trolley. My sweetheart was stuck at the hotel for a day until we figured this out for ourselves, as even when asked about Uber/Lyft, the front desk never mentioned the shuttle. 2. The ice machine on the 4th floor was perpetually empty. Not sure if it was just being regularly raided by other guests, or if it was in need of service. 3. A blender we attempted to use (provided as one of the in-room amenities) leaked its contents out through the bottom seal like a seive. When I disassembled it to check the gasket, I found black mold. The front desk was unable to help, but offered to remove it for us. 4. The televisions in the room were not "smart" in the sense that we could not "cast" to them from our phones. We do this a lot, so it's not a user error thing. Just beware you will be limited to whatever viewing options the TV/cable service provides. PRO TIP 1: Hinging off of #3 above, the rooms in the resort are potentially privately owned. Apparently ours was, and was rented out as a sort of Air-BnB. This was the reason the hotel couldn't help with the blender, as it is not an item the resort provides, but was provided by the owner. PRO TIP 2: BEWARE THE ELEVATOR DOORS! They close VERY quickly after opening, and we were struck by them several times. Open the door, stick your hand in, and once everyone has gone in or out, then remove your hand. I'll end with a funny/silly observation. In the elevators was posted a list of the hotel regulations, among which were the parking requirements. The advisement ended with a warning that vehicles parked inappropriately, and not corrected within 24 hours, would have a "boot" affixed to their vehicle. In a nutshell, if your vehicle is parked in such a way that it is causing a problem, their "fix" will be to make that situation permanent. Totally makes sense.
