Let me start by saying that the owners of Jun Sushi are the sweetest people! And make some of the very BEST sushi in Bellingham. If you're looking for a quick bite though this is not the place for you. Good things come to those who wait. The ingredients are always fresh and the sushi is beautiful! Each plate is assembled with care and artistry. Bento boxes, tempura, rolls, nigiri, miso soup, you can't go wrong. Their kimchi is from Tacoma and is hands down the best I've ever had (And believe me I'm always on the hunt). This is now one of my favorite sushi spots. read more

Instant Ramen noodles... First and foremost. Although their staff is super friendly. They were very pushy with taking our order before we could properly evaluate the menu. So after ordering the ramen, we saw their chef open up instant ramen packs. Giving them the benefit of the doubt, we stayed to see how it turned out. The sushi was serviceable. Which gave them the extra star. But otherwise, paying $10 for instant ramen with some toppings obviously isn't worth it. If we do come back, may try the udon or a takeout bento. read more

I came here for my birthday and ordered the yummy yummy roll, California roll, and some gyoza to share with my husband. SUCH good sushi and our server was so charming and full of laughter. They could have some music playing or something, but honestly the food more than made up for it. Busy place but we didn't have to wait and the staff were completely competent with keeping up with the rush. Definitely recommend this place. :) read more

Amazing sushi. The only sushi that can compare to the kind I grew up eating in Hawaii. I am vegan so my typical order is 2 avocado rolls (which are big!) and an order of tofu inari. I will really miss this place when I move out of Bellingham. I would make the trip up here any day if I had time, because you can't find this sort of quality down in Seattle. read more

I've always been a blue fun sushi fan but Jun's is a top contender now. And their Udon noodle soup is really really good. I'm a non meat eater so we ordered the vegetable Udon. I ordered some nigiri and a california roll, and a friend ordered the bellingham roll for dinner. The service was a little slow, there were only three tables occupied in the place, but there seemed to be a lot of take-out orders and the staff seemed pretty rushed so that was fine, but maybe something to consider if you want to come eat here. The bellingham roll was a little plain, I actually did not realize that it had salmon until I actually saw it in the very last roll. It had a creamy yellow and pink special sauce over the top of it, which I think was very unnecessary. Reading other reviews saying it was mayo, it probably was very much that. The california rolls were nothing to write home about either. They were plain as well and basically just served as filler to eat for me. The raw fish for the nigiri was not the best quality, and the pieces of rice under the fish were very small. Basically, the food was ok, and for the price it is fine. This place is also at a good location since it's on Railroad. But there are other places where I've had better quality fish and more memorable sushi. read more

Best sushi and all around Japanese food we have had in Bellingham. It is fresh and we have gotten to know the people there over some time and they are extremely friendly. The Salmon Lover's roll is one of our favorites- they adorn it with little cuts of lemon (with a bit of rind) that just make this roll excellent! The vegetable udon is also delicious and they give you a size-able amount of food for what you pay. The only thing that isn't fantastic is the ambiance- this isn't some fancy venue with local artwork adorning the walls, but it's not their focus or concern and nor is it mine as long as the food is the star of the show, which it certainly is. It is really worth coming in to this small, downtown dining experience. The food is excellently and freshly prepared and the owners are immensely kind to their patrons. During the summer'15 power outs, they wrote down people phone numbers and allowed them to eat on an honor system as they couldn't take cards. The owners gave me a free bowl of Miso l, they were genuinely concerned I might not get a chance to eat during the power out. Just returned from my third time there, where they asked if I would be interested in a bowl of Ramen, which is huge! Because there is no ramen in Bellingham! They told me that they were going to add it to the menu and I Was the first customer. Is it just because my boyfriend and I are college students that we deserved such poor customer service? The 2 servers kept rushing us to order. The minute we got our food they gave us the bill. The servers kept checking in on us to see if we put down a payment yet and then badgered us to pay right away when we weren't even halfway done eating. I give them some slack since they just opened but come on that's such bad manners. Looking at other customers' reviews I'm very surprised they had such high ratings. The food was okay even the table next to us said it wasn't that great. I paid $47 for a meal that was not worth that price at all. Bottom line is they just want your money and don't care how they treat you or we were just the unlucky customers. read more

We came in right at the end of their lunch hour before they temporarily close, but were welcomed and served warmly regardless. The sushi was exactly as you would expect- fresh, elaborate, and delicious. We had the Hawaiian roll and the Dragon roll, both tasted amazing. The outdoor seating is great for the warmer days. On a hunt for good sushi I finally tried Jun Sushi. It was a beautiful summer day and the outdoor seating area is lovely. Shaded, flowers everywhere age comfortable. The waitress was handling the busy shift professionally and efficiently. Excellent service. Asahi, Kirin, Sapporo available in big and little bottles. Also great! The gyoza were fried delicious nuggets and I will be ordering cooked goodies every single time. The fish was variable. Hamachi was excellent, farmed salmon good (always wish it was wild) Value for money left this a three star review. I suggest ordering a sample of each before a big order. Take advantage of what is best on the day you visit! If there was just a little more consistency across all of the fish or if the price was a little lower, Jun Sushi would be great! read more

Quality AND quantity!! Not a lot of sushi places in Bellingham can say that. I've been here 4-5 times now and can definitely say that Jun delivers a great roll everytime! Jun is the owner, his name is on the door and he's the guy putting your rolls together. He's not your server but if it's slow enough, he'll bring out your plates or check up on your table to see how everything's going. Service doesn't get any better than that! Today's late lunch trip included a kimchee Ramen soup bowl (~$7) and a spider roll ($7.50). Amazing delicious deep fried crab. Ramen was alright, kimchee was pretty good. I make my own kimchee so for me to say kimchee was alright, it means that it is pretty good! Afterward, me and the husband went across the street to buy some loose tea at Wonderland and then grabbed a few drinks at the Beaver. Sushi was good, small little place. Not cheap by any means. Service was fast. The credit card machine has issues which they are aware of and would only take certain cards for random reasons, so be prepared to pay cash if you dont have more than one CC for them to try. A little disappointed in the rainbow roll, only a couple of different types of fish on top and the "krab" filling had no flavor. Sashimi was good with big chunks instead of slices. Overall it wasn't bad, but not great either. Will check out another sushi place next time. read more

It's okay! I've been here maybe five times because it's quick, convenient, and decent fish. Some rolls are quite good, while others leave a bit to be desired. The edamame is really good, and overall it's really cheap for sushi, but not in a scary "is this even edible" sort of way. I would recommend their baked and fried rolls over their raw/fresh ones, however, because on occasion the sashimi has tasted a little funky. Always better safer than sorry when eating cheap fish. My husband and I eat here for the first time and it did not disappoint. It was busy Friday night and the place is full of customers but the service is great. Ordered the bulgogi beef bento, came very quick. The fatty beef was only a small portion with mainly onions which I don't like. The tempera was pretty tasty, the salad was drenched in dressing and the miso was very salty. Overall not worth 20 bucks after tip. Maybe 15$ after tip but for sure not 20! read more

Their sushi is fantastic!! Had a bento box and wasn't sure how it would be, I'm not normally a pork person- it ended up blowing my mind. I have been twice (in the mere two weeks they have been open) and each time I have left horribly full and extremely happy. Fish tastes extremely fresh and they really know what they are doing. Their service is a little slower, but keep in mind how decivengly time consuming the art of sushi is, as well as the fact that they are EXTREMELY new and probably don't have the means of hiring more staff at the moment. Got take out from here thanks to COVID on 5/18/20. We ordered the basics - CA Roll, Dynamite Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll and Avocado Roll. Rolls were nice and big and tasted great. Excellent spot with a strong Japanese atmosphere. I had the BBQ salmon bento and my friend had the nigiri bento. Both were fresh and my salmon was made with an enjoyable crust keeping in the juicy and perfectly cooked inside. We also shared some unagi, which was likewise well prepared with the eel sauce complimenting rather than overpowering. They have great deals on ramen daily, and it's quite tasty. The gyoza is probably the best that I've ever had. Every single one of my friend's dishes I tried was great. Both kinds of sushi, the stuffed jalapeños, everything! They aren't the speediest, but it was well worth the wait. When you leave, everyone working is quick to thank you for coming in. I'm giving this four stars because the fish is so fresh and I really like the owner and the chef. It's a nice place to sit down and eat. However, in my mind it lacks a little in quality product overall. One, the rolls are not cheap, but the rice to fish ratio is very high. More in line with a college town all you can eat sushi place with 5 dollar beer and sake bomb. I'll pay the price, but make it worth the price. Two, the miso soup is just so average. Good flavor but super small bowl, diluted with the standard over the counter bought micro pieces of tofu and no real pieces of seaweed to speak of. On the flip side though. The fish is very fresh. I had a piece of mackerel (small) that was excellent with the small sashimi tray. Again, the fish in the rolls was great. Just very little of it. Also, the spicy tuna was way above average, excellent actually, but again, just noticeably small portions. Lots of rice and California roll centers to the rolls. The first time I went here two years back it was excellent. I loved the Chirashi and the sashimi. But today, it's gone south a little. Again, more comparable with an all you can eat sushi place. Hope they amp it up a bit. Such great food, but noticeable cost cutting efforts in play. I will come back, because it's good. But hope to see an improvement. read more

Thought this place would be a nice quick place to at least get some O.K. Food but it was not. Service: Not sure what the deal was when I went but we waited a good 15 minutes to get our order taken and it wasn't busy then after that 15 minutes we waited another 40 minutes just to get our food. The place was understaffed and it was obvious one waitress wasn't enough for a Saturday afternoon. Food: I ordered the don katsu bento and my boyfriend ordered the sushi regular combo which came with a California roll order and 6 pieces of nigiri. My bento was OK but the pork was a child's size serving and the tenpura was flavorless and tasted frozen. Both mine and my boyfriend's California rolls were rice heavy and he said the fish on the nigiri was slimy. Also all of the sushi was basically a play on a California roll. I can tell that the ramen was the packaged instant ramen kind, so that was disappointing. It's very obvious to me because I eat a lot of instant ramen, all sorts of kind, and it was very obvious what it was.
