Great place, right downtown and easy to find. The service was great, and the food was better. The patio seating was nice and relaxing too!

I don't know why this place got good reviews.. Maybe I'm just used to a lot better and fresher sushi, but this was awful. I came in by myself one afternoon, and there was one lady working, although the restaurant was pretty full. It took a while for her to come take my order, but when she did, I ordered the salmon roll. It was basically salmon wrapped in seaweed and rice. When I was waiting for my sushi to come out, the waitress brought out a small dish with wasabi inside, but was supposed to be for soy sauce. I can't stand the taste or spice of wasabi, so I asked the waitress if I could have another tray with no wasabi so I can still put my soy sauce in it. The waitress smiled, and without saying anything, took my chopsticks out of my hand, and scooped the wasabi out with the chopstick. she put it on my napkin, and told me that that way I wouldn't need another tray. I was so shocked at the fact that she actually just did that, I didn't say anything. My sushi still tasted like wasabi. To me, that's almost on the same level of drinking someone's drink to make sure it tasted OK or something. Granted she didn't use her fingers thankfully, otherwise that would be a hygiene issue. But that's some of the worst service I've had. As far as the food, the rolls were just OK. The salmon wasn't as pink as normal, and therefore didn't taste as fresh, and the rice had a strange watery flavor with a weird aftertaste. The price was decent, but for that low quality of sushi, especially in a place that's near the ocean, I was expecting much better. I wouldn't return! I came here at 8:25pm last Tuesday for a late dinner only to be turned away by the server/chef. More than likely the owners..they said they were "closed" although there were about 5 tables seated, 3 of which were already eating and only 2 tables waiting for food. The restaurant is suppose to be open until 9pm but they turned us away since they thought they wouldn't be able to cook in time for us to be out by 9pm. This is my biggest pet peeve in the restaurant industry. It would be one thing if we came in 10 or 15 minutes before close, but you would think they wouldn't want to turn down a sale just to keep their doors open an extra 15 minutes. I'll never eat here again due to this terrible customer service experience. read more

I've been coming here since I was transplanted into Bellingham from Phoenix. Jun, the head chef, is beyond kind and truly in love with his craft. He very often gives me free hot green tea and is always generous with his portions. This place has my complete loyalty, I go nowhere else for sushi. I feel bad, I've never tried their ramen! And the wait staff is ALWAYS super friendly and chatty. Truly feels like I'm dining with a little cozy family. read more

Clean, fresh, and not expensive. Nice service, even though the waitress could not tell my friend what was in a particular roll. Also, the Chirashi bowl is just a few slices of salmon and tuna, over rice, with red, yellow and green bell pepper slices, and shredded red cabbage. Was not feeling that at all. Definitely not something they should have on the menu. Will make sure to check out all other sushi places in town before going back, but I would go back. Just not for the Chirashi. read more

I went for lunch, and it was tasty but expensive. The dynamite roll was delicious, so was the spicy tuna. It just seemed a little pricy for lunch, and they don't have any lunch specials. I'd give them 5 stars if they did! read more

Ive tried all the sushi in Bellingham. Seriously, all of it. This is the best. You don't have to agree with me, you have the right to be wrong. The bento boxes are huge, one can easily feed two regular sized people, or leave one fatty-fatty-Bo-batty pretty full. On our second visit they recognized us, the servers are the most polite, sweet people. Oh and they allow dogs on their patio, which is pretty frikkin cool if you ask me. read more

Horrible service and the wait for food... atrocious. We ordered two bowls of ramen and some veggie tempura. We watched while several people were served before we were (although they ordered after we did). It took over 40 minutes to get our food. When we did, it was not what we ordered. No apology. We were not going to ask them to remake our order and we ate what they gave us. I looked over toward the kitchen and saw one of the cooks pulling something out of the trash and handed it to another cook. This is the first and LAST time I eat here. read more

This place was the sushi equivalent of white bread. We're still trying to find a sushi restaurant in Bellingham that isn't mostly avocado and mayonnaise. This wasn't it. We looked at the menu at WasaBee and left. But at least they were up front about the mayo and avocado content of their sushi. Here, 'special sauce' apparently means mayo and it is liberally applied to not so great fish. Worse, we ordered something with no sauce listed and it STILL came drowned in pink and yellow cream sauce - with wasabi so weak we had to keep asking for extras. Blech. Is there any place in Bellingham with fresh fish that doesn't drown it in mayonnaise and avocado? read more

4 of us had dinner on the patio on Saturday night - great atmosphere, super attentive and sweet service, excellent food. Best seaweed salad I've had yet, and great presentation of all our dishes (boxes, various rolls). We only wish we had found this place sooner! Will definitely be back! read more
