Had several good experiences with Jump+ in the Georgian Mall, Barrie, recently. Their tech Liam worked hard to fix my ailing MacBook Air, and he stuck with it until he fixed it. This used to be a great alternative to the Apple Store Genius Bars and much closer to me (the store on College near Spadina in Toronto), but it has seriously gone downhill. Went in for a repair yesterday and they didn't seem to know how to do a simple diagnosis. Plus, they made me remove my screen protector which proved futile and expensive because I had to buy a new one, and when I finally went to the Apple Store at Sherway Gardens, the technician told me it made no sense to remove the screen protector because it wasn't covering the top speaker which was where the problem was. Long story short, Jump plus was useless, rude and cost me money while Sherway Genius Bar diagnosed and fixed the problem in a jiffy. read more

Went in here (The College Street Toronto Canada store) for a simple battery replacement. I called beforehand to be sure they had the battery--they did. When I walked in, the store only had 1 other person, checking out. The associate, "Nancy", took my phone, did something to it and asked me to shut off "Find your phone", according to her, to be sure it was my phone--despite it saying "My Name's phone". She must have selected "Forgot my password" because entering the correct password didn't work and I was forced to change my Apple password, which was a pain. To add insult to injury, she said it'd be about 2 hours to replace the battery, in a completely empty store. If they can remind you about your appointment, why can't an empty store let you know it'll take a ridiculous amount of time? Noped out and got it replaced in about 15 minutes at the irepair place down the street with a quality third-party battery. Kept the phone in front of me the whole time, didn't ask me to shut off/turn on anything or share my Apple ID. Perfect! read more

I went to Jump + Vaughan Mills for a diagnostic repair on a Macbook 13 inc. Sales lady said it was not worth to fix it and to get a new one. She said they had same pricing and offers as Apple Canada. I proceeded to purchase a new one which was same price but when we got home Apple Canada was offering education type accessories for for the same price. For example Airpods valued at $249.00. I called Jump + and they said they could not help me and that the Macbook 13 could not be returned. So we basically could have received a free item for my university student who was present with me at the time. They also would not provide a quote in writing and referred me to their website to fix the old computer. I will never purchase anything from them again. FIRST AND LAST TIME! I got treated like a piece of crap at the College+Spadina location. I asked about in-ear headphones and he simply told me that they don't have any and walked away from me. When I asked for follow-up info vis-a-vis when new ones would arrive or if he may order them for me he just said that he doesn't know when they'll come-in. Sure this place is hit or miss, but I like to go to Jump Plus for Apple-related business just because the Apple Store in the Eaton Centre gets a little out of hand with the crowds normally and it is not as accessible. Having an Apple certified store in my neighborhood with parking right in front? Pure gold when you need them. I've had a couple service experiences which were perfectly Apple-like and ok as you'd expect. One was a used iMac I bought for my kid that needed the base hinge replaced. The seller told me it was a known issue that Apple was fixing out of warranty. He was right and I booked in the work online with Jump Plus. I was able to park right across the street and carry the awkward 27" computer in without a hassle. Bonus! They called me and said that there was a small chip in the glass that could result in the screen cracking further if they did the hinge replacement due to the fact that the screen has to be removed to get at the hinge. I said ok, and to go ahead anyway. The screen didn't crack, so there was some skill and care involved in the work, and I was able to pick up the 20 pound monster shortly thereafter and enjoy a working hinge for zero cost to me. Nice! The next service experience was perfectly satisfactory. Both my kids needed a new battery in their older iPhones so Jump was happy to do the job. I have experience with getting this job done for half the price at other stores in Chinatown, and prefer the quality of an original Apple battery. I'm ok to pay more and cry once. read more

The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. The entire staff including managers are extremely incompetent. The fact that this store is a representation of Apple is a joke. Tammy a "manager" called my husband a dick and a jerk over the phone, over a frustrating lack of knowledge and support of Jump+ services. This entire store should be shut down. Apple should be absolutely embarrassed by the terrible representation of their products. Was told that the new phone would have to be picked up at mall security, with no authorization for my device to leave the store. JUMP+ has blocked both myself and my husband on their Facebook page, because we left accurate descriptions of our terrible experience with this so called business on their review section. Took my Macbook here after I had an issue where the display suddenly turned off and I couldn't get it to read an external monitor. It had come in contact with a small amount of water roughly 9-10 months prior but hadn't had any issues since. Jump took it in for a diagnostic and came back claiming they noticed liquid damage immediately and it was such severe liquid damage that they had to dry it out before running a diagnostic and all major components would need to be replaced. They quoted me more than the cost of a brand new Macbook to fix it. Surprised by the extent of the damage and the notion that it was still super wet nearly a year later and the damage was that severe without presenting any issues before now I asked for photos so I could get a sense of the level of corrosion and deterioration happening inside. I was told there was no damage visible enough to be photographed because you can't see the liquid in photos. I explained that I just wanted a diagnosis and repair quote for the specific display issue I was having I didn't need everything to be good as new, I asked if they completed a full diagnosis or if they finished their review once they discovered liquid contact. They reiterated their first diagnosis, said it was all water damage and it all needed to be fixed and brushed off my concerns about an incomplete and unspecific diagnostic test to find the source of my issue as simply being frustrated and upset by the cost of the repair. I picked up my computer and took it to the Apple store, within 10-15 minutes they were able to diagnose that the issue is really only with the display and lid sensor, (it works perfectly fine with an external monitor as long as the laptop is closed) and remarked that in their initial review there was no visible liquid damage. They tried a couple of troubleshooting options while I waited which unfortunately didn't work so it needs repairing but their quote was less than a third of the cost Jump quoted me. I'm literally typing this review on the (still broken) laptop that Jump told me was so damaged that it needed every major component replaced. From other reviews it sounds like they're a fine resource for simple fixes and screen replacements, but their ability to diagnose specific issues isn't up to par - and even though the diagnostic fee isn't large ($60) it's a slap in the face to pay it when you don't get your money's worth. Ultimately my whole experience there felt like they were trying to scam me. Honestly I had such a negative experience here I couldn't in good conscience recommend it to anyone. I initially posted this review on Google and they replied stating that they tried to get in touch with me "multiple times" to discuss the issue (and by that they mean they tried to call me back to back 3 times in 5 minutes) "but were unable to connect directly" (even though we'd been communicating consistently via e-mail before that point and I responded to their voicemails via e-mail roughly an hour after they attempted to call me). That's about the level of honesty you can expect with this company in everything they do. read more

I began buying all my Apple gear at what was then Computer Systems Centre on College Street in the late 90's. They were professional and dependable. When the company changed hands to Jump+ I continued to go there and over the past five years have bought 3 imacs and 2 macbook pros for my business as well as accessories repairs etc. I have noticed the service and products getting worse and worse - rude arrogant employees, inferior products that fall apart quickly. I always get Apple Care but it's odd when a new machine develops defects within a month. And they have a no return policy which is bizarre. Still I continued going - through loyalty to CSC. Today was the last straw. My brand new Mac Book Pro crashed AGAIN and as I always do I took it in - walking in the blizzard for 45 mins to deliver the machine before closing. When I arrived I was told that I needed to make an appointment online from home. Since when? I asked. And why should I go home to make an appointment when the store is open and I am here now. In a very surly manner they finally agreed to receive my laptop for repairs. After 25 years of devotedly bringing my business to this store for some reason they could find no trace of me OR the new computer that I had bought there 2 months prior, on their system. They complained and sulked, before finally deigning to accept my computer and logging it in. I left seeing utterly no reason to continue to use them ever again. There are several Apple resellers in Torronto - I'm sure I can find one that will appreciate having my business! read more

I was very unhappy with my experience--even allowing for the problems of the pandemic. I did understand that it was because of the pandemic I had to stand outside while purchasing a new iPad Pro. But given that it was -3c I hadn't expected a thirty-minute wait! When I was at last given my purchase, I was not told that I'd need to do the set-up when I got home. (In previous purchases from the Apple Store I've not had to do that.) When that didn't work I contacted the store, was told that the purchase was final because they had put on a screen protector and that they couldn't help me because they weren't doing in-store set-up because of Covid. Two days later and 5 online conversations with Apple, the difficulty was diagnosed--and fixed--as a software problem. read more

DO NOT WASTE YOU'RE TIME GOING. Empty store, was told it would take 3-4 hours to replace my cracked screen (at apple it takes 1 hour). To run a diagnostic test on my computer they claimed they would need to take my computer away from me (instead of doing it on the spot, during the appointment as they do at apple) and I would get the computer back in 7-10 business days AFTER they determined the problem and fixed it. I ordered an IPAD which was listed as "in stock" for which they charged my credit card. I was then told that there was no stock of this item and they refused to promptly credit my card and tried to sell me other items. It took emails from me and calling my card company, then two weeks later the card was credited. A credit can be done in 30 seconds, I have a business and I have done it myself. I had purchased products from CSC before, so I thought , "Hey, I'll give their service department a try." Shop local, support local biz, etc etc and so on. I needed a fan replaced on my laptop and when I called they said it would take approximately 2-5 days. That sounded reasonable. So, now it's been 15 days and I'm still without a laptop. Using my skills called "math", this sounded bad. Over the course I had also lost two contracts because I would need said laptop to do the work. So, I tried talking to a manager about this. Left three messages asking for the manager to call me back. My phone remained silent. On a whim I called again, got put on hold to God-awful hold music, and the manager finally got tracked down. Gosh, I hope everything was okay. I explained that I had lost revenue, I'm still without my laptop, and in talking to him, this all seemed to be working within well-defined business parameters. I explained that I was without a laptop for two weeks and isn't this slightly unacceptable? He seemed to think not. This is a standard service call, in his eyes. So I asked, "So there's absolutely nothing you can do for me at this point? No dropping the cost of the parts, no reimbursement for the diagnostic, no discount at all." "No." So, congrats, CSC. You have won. Your prize? I'll never darken your door again. I still don't have my laptop. read more

Extremely helpful, professional and timely service. After spending two hours on the phone with apple support the previous morning they informed me there was nothing more they could do and that I'd have to take it in to get it serviced. The next availability at my local Genius Bar was not for another week, so I was ecstatic when they said they could suggest an authorized service provider. I called Jump+ and they were able to slot me I first thing the following morning. Apparently this referral service is a new thing that Apple is doing but it is an excellent idea. This will be my new go-to place to service my laptop for sure! They replaced my hard drive and connecting cable for $175 and it took less then 72 hours. read more

I am astonished at how long it took to manage a simple exchange. The staff were fine but it shouldn't take thirty minutes, when there is no one else in the store, to swap an item, even if that item is on order. This place needs to seriously rethink its return protocols - this multi-page order/refund form they are filling out is completely excessive. I don't have the time to shop here again. Furthermore, be warned that they don't refund your $$, even if you come back to exchange for a slightly different version of the same product (they wouldn't credit me the $20 dollar difference but gave me store credit). Also you have to return within SEVEN days, or you're out of luck. Not a store interested in customer service or repeat business. I get that it's busy and everyone's tech issue is important, but the staff really needs to understand that they are there to service the tech issue, not the "anxiety" behind the issue. I have been going to carbon computing for years before I moved back to the west end of town and decided to try these guys when my mac case cracked. $350 later and I had a dead computer. I am not outright blaming them for the death of my computer but they really just didn't care about the fact that it was working when I brought it in and when they put on a new outer case the computer died within 24 hrs..and I mean gone. I even asked if they would give me any sort of deal toward a new computer and the technician said it "wasn't their responsibility to do so". Fine. One of my iPhone chargers died and I happened to be walking past this store so I went in. They had a few customer service staff on hand and no other customers in the store so I quickly had a few options in my hand. There was a little pressure to buy a more expensive option but I stuck to my guns and only got what I really needed and saved myself the $5. The store is clean and spacious and offers a wide range of products for your Apple products. He is not technically knowledgeable about the latest products, specially iPads. He was rude, if you ask more tech. details he gets mad, he said that it isn't necessary to know and was bluffing all along. I just bought it because I needed one immediately and I know what I'm buying. I wouldn't recommend going to him for assistance, try a different store or maybe a Bestbuy location. i have passed by this place a billion times over the years on my way to many a meal of chinese food and i have wondered and wondered and wondered. i have thought, that because of the general flotsam and jetsam that chinatowns the world over are famous are for, that this place too, would be seedy and filled with pirated software or dvds. (not that im averse to that, by the by), but no sirree. within the otherwise bland exterior of this place and its massive red lettering lining the upper floors outside, lies an inner structure that is more akin to something of a modern palace. palace might be too strong a word perhaps, but its the arches that separate room from room and the ceilings that they reach that give you this impression. these arches are adorned in wood or something that looks like real wood, with dashes of metal and a marble table to support fancy amps. i perused different sections of the store with some future purchases in mind. as a mac user i found out that i cannot use a regular stereo set of headphones (for things like skype, for example) and instead need a set of headphones that connect via usb. these are the types of items you could find here. it seems that its stock veers towards the professional versus the consumer. they also had neat and useful add-ons for your computer as well as the regular stuff like laptop cases, hard drives, etc. for example, there was a revolving attachment that you could slide onto your iMac so thats it could revolve at its base 360 degrees, which could prove quite useful in a communal work environment. im glad to have found this place as a resource for mac items and other more specialized computer related products. read more

I came here to have the battery replaced on my MacBook Pro (13-inch, Early 2011) after reading decent reviews. They are also Apple-certified, which helped to influence my decision. I brought my laptop in to CSC's temporary pop-up location (just west of the College & Spadina store) around noon, and the work was completed by 5pm the same day. Not the cheapest service, but you get what you pay for -- and the new battery works great. Apple followed up with a service questionnaire a few days later, which was reassuring. It's nice to know Cupertino has its eyes on its authorized resellers. Overall, I'd return to have all of my future Apple products serviced -- it beats waiting in line at the Genius Bar any day. read more

Bought a top of the line MacBook Pro from the College St branch on Sept 20th 2018. 2 weeks later it showed a defect: track pad not clicking properly. Brought laptop into store November 13th - problem kept seeming to go away, then would come back; there had not been a time period prior to this that I hadn't needed it for work. Salesman told me he was a web designer and my issue was likely 'the websites' and not the computer. Disrespect and patronize the customer, moment #1. Waited 30 mins. Salesman #2 took down my contact details - wrongly, as it turned out. Failed to note in paperwork that the track pad problem took place online as well as offline. Was unapolagetic and unfriendly. I'm told it'll be 6 business days till I hear back. So clearly this is not going to be treated with any urgency. I'm not offered a loaner computer despite being covered under AppleCare. Disrespect and patronize the customer, moment #2. Over 2 weeks pass; I contact Jump+ to ask: what's happened to my computer? I'm told they'd called me Nov 14th. No, they hadn't: my phone records prove it. I ask why they'd failed to email me: turns out they had misspelled my address. Furthermore, I'm now told Jump+ has not been able to replicate the problem. In other words: they don't believe me that this computer is faulty. Disrespect and patronize the customer, moment #3. At this point I beg them: find the problem! Finally on Oct 29th I receive a call saying the computer is fixed. 16 days after I brought it in. I pick it up Oct 31st. This is now my 3rd trip to Jump+. Nobody apologizes to me for all the wasted time and for selling me a defective computer. I'm casually told the manager's not there, and given his business card. Salesman tells me to wait while he fetches paperwork for me to sign. He disappears. The whole vibe is unhelpful, lazy and oblivious. Disrespect and patronize the customer, moment #4. Yesterday: Sunday 2nd December, the problem occurs again. Jump+ has not fixed it. Clearly they didn't even find it. I'm done going into this place on my own and being treated so poorly: this time I return with my partner. Assistant manager is there: finally I am treated with some respect and my frustration and wasted time is acknowledged. No coincidence that I'm dealing with a woman salesperson this time. Finally I don't feel sneered at and belittled. Michelle tells us that she'll need to speak to the manager, Rob, but promises us we'll hear some answers the next day. Today I heard my answer and it is shocking. Suddenly, I'm told that my Macbook Pro was 'a special order' and 'not a regular Macbook Pro'. I'm told that my computer does not qualify for the same degree of AppleCare. THIS IS A LIE. I purchased my computer on the understanding it was a regular MacBook, with full protection. This is the first time I've heard anything about it being 'special' or 'custom'. Disrespect, patronize and LIE TO the customer, moment #5. So this is where I'm left. A top of the line, expensive MacBook that has problems that have not been fixed. No support, no loaner computer, no adequate repair - and now a story about the computer being 'special order' when any idiot could look at the paperwork and ascertain that I was a regular customer buying it off the peg and no 'order' was made. I don't want this dud of a laptop for a second longer: yet haven't been offered a refund. Hours of my time have been wasted; I've been into the store 4 times and counting: that's travel time, phone time, email time and almost 3 weeks without a computer. I honestly think these guys do good work, but I unfortunately had a terrible experience. Basically they told me they fixed a problem, didn't, and now want to charge me again to fix it. 1. Brought my laptop in to get the trackpad fixed and battery replaced. Paid the extra $45 for diagnostics. 2. Got an email saying they had fixed the trackpad, along with a quote for the battery. 3. Picked up laptop. Trackpad did not work. 4. Emailed them and was told that the trackpad was not covered under their service warranty, because they only cover repair work, and the trackpad was not repaired because technicians could not replicate the problem (the trackpad hasn't worked properly for months and the guy who ran diagnostics when I brought the laptop in had to go get a mouse to use with it). 5. I wrote back and clarified that the trackpad had in fact been repaired, as per the note on the repair form "Trackpad needed realignment. Working fine now." 6. Was told there was no repair, but if I want to come back in they'll be happy to charge me to fix it again. read more

This place SUCKS. I made the mistake of walking in and asking them to service a charging issue with my phone. 3 techs agreed there was an issue! The service tech refused to replace it because "he could not reproduce it". I wasted 4 hours of my life with this place. Do yourself a service and deal with an Apple Store directly. I took my IPhone 8 in for repair (the speaker was crackling, something I read was a frequent problem with the 8's). They had it for several hours and identified a hardware problem that could not be fixed. When I picked up my phone, the home button was no longer working, so I took it back. They said it was just a coincidence that when I dropped it off it was working and when I picked it up four hours later it was wasn't working. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!! OR "LET THE BUYER BEWARE." Also let the reader beware-my experience with CSC could fill a novella My loose affiliation with CSC began in the summer of 2006 when I decided to purchase a Toshiba Satellite '17 inch Laptop-a beast of a machine that I have been more than happy with for the better part of our five year relationship. Not once did I stray or even consider straying until about a week ago when I got the dreaded "Blue Screen Of Death," as a friend of mine so eloquently informed me, or a B-SOD for those in the know. I took my machine in to get diagnosed and easily forked over the initial hundred and change assessment fee, I expected this. I was then informed a few days later that parts of my Hard Drive had been corrupted and that to essentially get the computer back up and running would be approx. $500.00 and that I might consider purchasing a plot for my Toshiba. Possessing only a base knowledge of Hard Drives, RAM etc..I concluded that I may simply be better off to purchase a new machine from CSC. When I stated my intentions to the Tech, he then told me that he "may be able to get the machine back up for a limited time," so that I could manually transfer my data to my external Hard Drive. I found this a tad strange considering that I had just been told to essentially abandon all hope, but I asked him politely if this may be done. I picked up the computer the following day and low and behold I no longer had the B-SOD problem-my Laptop had new life thanks to CSC. I was now able to transfer what data I needed to an external HD and decided that I may as well pony up for a new Laptop, seeing that my machine was living on borrowed time. Enter the MacBook Pro saga. I decided to take the plunge and shift alliances from my beloved PC to a Mac, I guess all those Mac commercials with Justin Long had subconsciously struck a chord or was it a need to be seen as hip and relevant by my peers again that had truly prompted this purchase? Yet whatever may have been the root cause, I did end up purchasing a display model '15 MacBook Pro for $1,600 and change which I was happy with UNTIL a friend of mine that is for more tech savvy than I scoffed at the notion of abandoning a Laptop for simply having sectors of a Hard Drive corrupted. He would be willing to show me how to not only restore but to upgrade for under $200.00. Needless to say I gladly took him up on this generous offer and he more than came through. Here is where it gets interesting. I attempted to return my unopened MacBook after four days time and immediately upon entering CSC was told that I would only be able to get store credit and that there would be an automatic 10% restocking fee, so about $160.00 to simply return an unopened product that their technician (through ineptitude on his diagnosis) had essentially pushed me into purchasing. This fee was quoted to me before I had even been asked why I was returning the MacBook in the first place. At this point I saw the salesperson who had sold me the MacBook and caught his attention. He was exceptional and took over. I told him why I was bringing the MacBook back and he agreed-I told him that the Technician had failed to mention that I could simply swap out my Hard Drive and that $500.00 was exorbitant and almost criminal. I asked him if he knew that the Techs were quoting at these astronomical prices and he essentially told me that I wasn't the first to complain and that he would direct me to the manager "Tim." I was directed to "Tim" who started the refund, yet the card inexplicably wasn't being refunded properly. This could have been a magnetic problem, a problem with global payments or a problem with the in-house terminal so I'm not going to fault them here, But after trying and failing twice to refund my card he abruptly turned the task over to another employee. She was fantastic and assured me that she would solve the situation, which she did. So in finally ending there were two bright spots at CSC, yet overall the experience was daunting and DO NOT TRUST THE DIAGNOSTIC ABILITIES OF THEIR SO CALLED TECHNICIANS. They will tell you half truths, will not offer alternative solutions and the so-called restocking fee is ridiculous-especially for an unopened product. I went here looking to buy some RAM. The salesperson checked the computer, confirmed they had the kind I was looking for, and quoted me a price more than 50% higher than what they were charging at another shop across the street. When I pointed this out, he claimed the other shop sold refurbished RAM that would probably fail - I am 95% sure this is not true. In any case, I will not be returning. read more

Computer Systems Centre (AKA JumpIT) is the worst customer experience I have ever had. The complete lack service cannot be understated. Out of loyalty for having made previous purchases there before, I contacted them about buying a new Mac Pro workstation (major purchase). The rep Alex, did not want to even look into options I requested. He was not knowledgeable about the products. In fact, he was more worried about his commission than fulfilling my requests. There were unnecessary delays in my order. They refused my preferred form of payment so inconvenienced me by making me show up in person. Finally they held my system hostage even though I was on a corporate account with previous history and a substantial deposit. I have no faith in their post sale service either. I would complain to Apple Canada if I had an e-mail address. Go somewhere else, they do not deserve business! read more
