Had a rollercoaster of an emotional experience with this shop... I brought in my macbook pro 4 weeks ago for a screen replacement. I was told it would take about 4 days, which I was totally fine with and said it wasn't a huge rush. I now regret my choice of words. They didn't provide any receipt or forms to fill out/sign which I thought was odd and unprofessional, considering they are "authorized apple technicians." I should have reconsidered my decision to put blind faith in leaving my macbook there, as my first impression entering the shop had me feeling a bit uneasy. The storefront was really unorganized and looked like a hoarding ground for computer parts. Sadly I didn't have much of a choice due to the pandemic, as it was almost impossible to secure a slot with an official apple technician. After not hearing back after 4-5 days I called to check in, and the technician didn't remember who I was and couldn't find my computer. After being on hold for about 10 minutes he said he just remembered that he needed to order a screen that matched the colour of my macbook and would take about a week or so. Totally fair. The following weeks I called to check in and that's when things got really sketchy. The conversations went from accusing me of already picking it up to basically admitting they didn't have it. THEY LOST MY MACBOOK. How does that even happen?! I couldn't believe it, but looking back explains why he had trouble finding it after the initial call. After further inquiries, they were convinced it was stolen, and made up some false story about the camera being tampered with for a few days, and that there was a "blind spot." It was supposedly the only thing was stolen. This sounded really suspicious to me and I was convinced I was being screwed over. They promised they would take care of it, and provide me with an equivalent system to make up for it but that they would charge me the cost of my repair. My files, logins and data are completely lost and compromised but no big deal... Right? I didn't have much choice but to agree to this. I couldn't file a claim or report this incident, as I didn't have any proof that I left my macbook with them to begin with. I was really upset but came to terms with this eventually. After more delays to give them more time and discourage me from coming into the store it was finally time to come in. As I was on my way to the shop I got a text message exclaiming they had found my macbook. What?! I didn't want to get my hopes up, as I wasn't yet convinced it was mine that they found. But indeed it was. Apparently the technician who originally worked on the repair separated the top and bottom parts of the macbook. The top part was lost, tucked away in a corner on one of the shelves. Again, I cannot emphasize how unorganized they are and how something like this can even happen... but I'm just thankful to have it back and repaired. They omitted the tax on the repair, but I was told initially that already would have been the case if I paid in cash. For all the turmoil and unprofessionalism I had to endure, I feel they should have offered more of a discount. I would not recommend going here. Avoid this individual at all costs. He is unprofessional and discourteous. Came to have the clutch cover repaired on my Mac: told me he would find the replacement part and could and would repair it. Ghosted me for 2 weeks. I found and purchased the part myself and brought it in to him. He inexplicably became rude and aggressive going into a long story about how hard it would be to fix, and how old and antiquated my computer is. He started to use foul language, so I left. My MacBook Pro took a pretty bad fall and so I first took it to the Apple Genius Bar to get an idea of what the damages would cost to fix. They told me it would be 600$- so I agreed with having them complete the service. A week later I received a call from Apple's technicians where they advised that the damages were more extensive than they realized and that my laptop needed a new logicboard as well. Because of this, they advised that I scrap the laptop and purchase a new one entirely, as the price difference isn't worth the time + labour for fixing. To get a 2nd opinion, I was referred by a friend to Dr.Mac. He's a really experienced and knowledgeable guy when it comes to Apple products. He was able to walk me through all the issues and worked out a reasonable price so that I was able to get it repaired instead of opting for a new MacBook. read more

I dropped my MacBook Pro on the ground, leaving me with a blank blue screen. I was told at the Apple store that I could pay to do a diagnostic but that they didn't have the parts to fix my late 2013 model, so I went to Doctor Mac just to see if he could at least recover my data. Well, ONE day later I received a phone call from Doctor Mac telling me it was fixed!! Completely!! At a fraction of the cost of purchasing a new computer, obviously. Much appreciated!! read more

DO NOT bring any of your electronics to this place. I made the mistake of bringing in my Ps3 to this guy twice because of the convenience of his location alone. The first time he installed aftermarket fans without telling me that the added power draw would fry my system. Then, once those fans broke my console, I took it back to him for repairs, which to his credit worked... For about three days. When I took the console to a different repair shop, they declared it "dead on arrival" as a result of the work done to it here. He is remarkably uncommunicative, giving no details on the problems with the product or the steps he took to solve it, and he will flat out lie to you. Additionally, he makes it very difficult to reach him by telephone. He WILL dodge your calls and he will not call you back when he says he will. Bring your electronics to him only if you like paying to have them butchered, otherwise STAY AWAY. read more

My first experience was great, he fixed my macbook in no time! However, I had to bring it back a few months later for a different issue with my keyboard, and that's where everything went wrong. First, he disappeared for about a month and a half. I called multiple times a day and always got a voice mail. I started showing up to the store, banging on the door to no answer. Finally I get a call after 6 weeks of no responses, but its from some man I've never met who works at a store in the East end. Like almost Scarborough. I was then informed that he had my laptop as Doctor Mac was on vacation (something he never mentioned) and I would have to come out there to get it. I lived in Parkdale at the time, but I went all the way out there to get it. But wait, there's more! Upon returning home after a nearly 2 hour commute, I opened my laptop to find that the login username was not mine, it was some random guy's! I called the man I picked it up from, who said he didn't know what happened and I would have to wait until Doctor Mac came back. I waited another 2 weeks with a non-working laptop, and when I finally brought it in he said that the hard drive wasn't mine. For some reason, even though he was just fixing a couple of dead keys, he took out the hard drive and somehow mixed it up and put some random dude's in. He shuffled around in the back, and said he couldn't find my hard drive. He gave me a new one and sent me on my way - still charging me full price. Even worse, the harddrive that he gave me is shit. I barely have anything stored on my computer and it's constantly telling me there's no storage. I even took everything off and put it on an external, but still, no storage. So not only did Doctor Mac royally fuck my Macbook over, he also has my harddrive and is probably fapping to the copious amounts of nudes that were on there. DO NOT GO HERE. read more

I don't leave many reviews but I wanted to leave one in this case because I was very happy with the service here. Because of Apple closing all it's shops during Covid-19, we didn't have many options to repair a 1 year old Macbook Air with water damage. We found Doctor Mac online with mixed reviews so we were nervous but went for it anyway. Our experience was very positive. No appointment needed, we just turned up. Waited about 10 minutes outside because there was 1 person in front of us and Covid restrictions are allowing only 1 person in at a time. The shop is a tiny cluttered basement unit (which I believe is a sign of a good tech repair place). There was a $65 fee for inspection (which we didn't end up paying because we went ahead with the repair) - he opened the Macbook up there and then in front of us, identified the damage and gave us an instant price. He said it would either be $475 or $650 depending on whether he was able to repair the logic board or need to replace it. We assumed that the lower and upper prices were a sales tactic and that it would really be $650, but even that was half what Apple charge to repair water damaged Macbooks (usually is it not much more to just buy a new Macbook). We were delighted when we went to collect and it was actually only $475. He could have done it same day but we chose next day because we had stuff to do that day. It was ready next day no problem (not even a line up outside) and he allowed us time to check it over, connect to wifi, test ports etc. - all working great with a 90 day guarantee. Their website says Apple certified but I can't find them listed on the Apple website - it was irrelevant to us because water damage invalidates the warranty anyway, but if it matters to you, check it out. I am happy to support local business rather than further lining the pockets of Apple who have essentially abandoned their customers during Covid-19 so that many people just have to buy new devices. read more

Terrible customer service. Left my PS3 here on a Monday for a repair, and the guy working there kept giving me the runaround. First he said it would be ready the next day. Then when I called he said it would be ready by the end of day Friday. Went in to pick the PS3 up on Saturday and he said there was a part he needed to order and it would be ready by tomorrow. When I questioned why it was taking so long, the repair guy flipped a lid and started yelling. Luckily I was able to just take the unit back without a charge. The store itself is dirty and cluttered. I'm not sure they actually fix anything here by the looks of the place. Save yourself the trouble and avoid this store like the plague. read more

Do your research n take precautions as u will need to with anyone else as well. 2 things happened: He reformatted my Mac and did a backup which was another computer's backup not mine and I lost all my data/photos ! I also now have someone else's private pics and data (Michael, Scarborough, if u r reading this). 2ndly he charged me $400 for a refurbished logic board or just a repaired one under the false pretence of putting in a brand new one. I opted for that, thinking for $200 extra I will have a new computer in a sense, rather than a repaired one. After the 6 mo warranty period he offers, the SAME issue happened. This made me wonder did he just FIX the part and not REPLACE the logic board? I went to his store and overheard him saying that all logic boards etc are refurbished. 1) I asked him why did he sell me refurbished as 'new'. He tried to manipulate the words saying i had asked whether it was 'original' n did not ask if it was 'new'. Not true - we had had a detailed convo; also, only an idiot would pay $400 for a refurbished logic board - my repaired part for only $200 would also have resulted in a functional 'refurbished' board. 2) I told him he didn't return my old logic board which I could have sold n he said he would never have returned that n they never do n no one does & he sells it to his supplier (OR i m sure fixes the ONE part n sells it as refurbished for $400??) He quoted me $100 to have the part repaired saying he was giving me a discount this 2nd time. After asking several times how is it possible for the SAME part to quit if it was a different logic board he finally said the problem could be outside the logic board e.g. a short circuit creating that one part to short He would have had me pay over n over to have it repaired for the same thing when the problem lay somewhere else ? Or the short-circuit was just an excuse now to clear my doubts that the logic board was never replaced? I will never know. Also, he insisted the 'rule' in the market is that they DO NOT HAVE TO TELL it's refurbished. He repeated this many times saying Apple also will not tell u. He really believes this ! I do not believe in refurbished products n would never buy one. PERIOD. So this made me furious and I could no longer trust him. I would never spend more than $200 in repairs TOTAL EVER on my $1,100 Mac. I spent the $400 only having been told it was a brand new part. I had him repair my Mac n told him I will not be paying him because of the initial 'scam' and I am out $400 for something I did not want n how does he want to proceed. I thought he would talk about police or court which I would have been totally agreeable to and wanted. But after a 'discussion' he told me to leave calling me and my friend 'prostitutes' and 'sluts' ! Lol. Wow. Later I discovered that he screwed up the Mac backup - luckily I have one from 6 months back, but still how disorganized and unprofessional can one get ! Tips: -KNOW there are NO NEW PARTS only refurbished - so says Nisar -IF there are serial numbers to your parts, take them down - ask ur repair guy how would u know he replaced a part n not repaired it (huge diff in price) - is there any indicator on the part? -Do NOT get refurbished parts unless ur part is NOT repairable and then weigh the options as to how much u will spend total on repairs ever vs buying a new one. - sell ur mac after 3,4 years for more than half the price (that is the market value), while fully functional and buy a new one ! - try to get ur replaced part bck - it might have value n will also ensure it was replaced read more

HORRIBLE SERVICE! He had my laptop for about a week and a half. When he did finally finish repairing my screen that was internally damaged I went to go pick it up and he informed me that my battery is not working, at this point I asked how is that possible and he started yelling at me. I asked him polity 'sir don't yell its a simple question, when I brought you my laptop in the battery was fine and all of a sudden its not working?' Despite the single, bad review of this shop, I decided to try it. It's local and what the heck, if Rene's experience was any indication of what to expect, I could always retrieve the laptop. Yeah the place was untidy and seemed disorganized, but that, ultimately, turned out to not be a problem. I explained the MacBook Pro battery wasn't charging and that this was the second new battery in 3 years. I was promised fast service to fix what might be the charging circuit, but each time I checked over the following ten days there was no action, just excuses. I was in no rush and their reasons for not completing the work seemed plausible, even if their projections of a completion time were over optimistic. Finally they told me that the laptop was fine, the charging circuit was working properly and the problem was that the battery was dead and needed to replace. They returned the laptop at no charge and gave me some free advice: buy an an 85 watt charger on the net instead of using the 60 watt unit I also used on my newer 13" MacBook Pro . This way, they said I could run off the mains. No charge? Free advice? I'll go back, no matter what they say about turnaround time. They have my trust because actions speak louder than words. read more
