Great food at a great price if you love sushi this is your place to visit been going there for years and never been disappointed

With the Jumbo Buffet (JB) change of management, the quality of its food has decreased monumentally. My wife and I had been dining for more than a decade at JB, but paused due to serious health problem, and when it all was over, we decided to celebrate getting out of the weather with a dinner at JB. It was then when we realized about the new management...and about how horribly badJB's cuisine has gone. We'll never dine there again. if you ask me, will tell you the food now is very shabby. It's very sad that a Louisville restaurant --despite its modest setting-- with exquisite cuisine has gone down the drain. RIP read more

Alright, I've been here when I was like 7. Did they change the entire buffet?? Like I came here a few months ago (forgot to leave a review) but, seriously . A few years ago, it was the BEST buffet I went. The food and amazing, the area was mad clean and the atmosphere felt like heaven. NOW, it feels off and doesn't feel the same anymore. The food is alright now, the service is also alright but if I had to say one thing. Remodel the buffet back to the way it used to be. (Or maybe the way you guys clean the area, it was mad dirty when I got to my seat.) read more

Great Buffet! Large offering including fresh sushi bar. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. Friendly staff. Staff was constantly wiping down buffet area and prepping/mixing the buffet items to keep them hot. Well done! Restaurant was clean, bright with nice music as atmosphere. Okay I want to just start I start off come in on no crab legs these are premature crab legs literally the smallest crab legs I've ever seen you crack the leg open and there's maybe one centimeter maybe a pepper size flake of me in it the chicken was not chicken I think it was schmicken the crab ratings had no nothing in it it was just chill the waitresses guarded the door like we was going to skip the ticket cuz I know the food is bad other than that you know you advertise jumbo crab I don't know where at what you're saying jumbo is but mine is actually having a 1 cm of meat come out of a crab leg so I suggest you review your your crap selection and try again read more

Just left really unsatisfied. Got myself one plate and everything I tried was dry old and flavorless. Went with 4 kids, 2 of which were charged as adults and they also charged me $8 for my 3 year old who ate nothing at all. I told the the host I didn't like the food and she was very hesitant to remove anything from the check. She did remove one charge but refused to take anything else off even after we were only there for 10 minutes. The hostess son was at the front making smart remarks as I was talking to the host about my issues. Asked if I was ever coming back and laughed when I said no. My husband and I visited on Christmas and they were very busy but kept up with the surge of people easily. I was pleasantly surprised to see they had a hibachi grill in addition to sushi. The hibachi would be better if they allowed you to season your food. They had a large selection of seafood. They do have the tools needed if you opt for crab legs - just have to ask. I'm not sure I would come back, but it was great for a random Christmas night out. read more

My kids wife and I decided to try Jumbo for lunch today after several years last coming here. The place is redecorated and apparently new owners too. The food look decent and similar to another AYCE Buffet Yoki. Their lunch prices for adults was a bit higher than other places. Conclusion on par with other Asian AYCE buffets. Maybe comeback one in every couple months but nothing special to rush for. read more

Sitting in PACKED restaurant lobby down the street with 15 of my retiree friends. It's the week before Christmas!! One and half hour wait at 1130am. I call Jumbo and she assures me, will set up table for us immediately. So down we go!! What a pleasant surprise for all of us. Eight or nine stations, give or take. Piping hot food, filled to the brim and constantly being monitored. You name it, they got it. Excellent choice of American dishes. The Mac and cheese looked delicious!! I love their salmon and whitefish. The soups, egg rolls, and Chinese donuts were wonderful. Big table of sushi, huge aisle of salads, cold shrimp, fruits, banana pudding, parfait desserts. Lunch price $10.95. Did add 15% tip for large party. Wonderful huge room in back. But again, let me note, the food is constantly being monitored and filled. Piping hot!!! Before I left, I asked about Christmas. They will be open from 11a til 8p. Lots more seafood. They say, oysters, snow crab, etc. With a price of $18.95, what a deal!!! This used to be my favorite chinese buffet in town. Nothing could beat those amazing dim sum dumplings and overall food quality was terrific.. fast forward a couple of years and something is off - no dim sum - quality has dropped. this was all pre-covid. So today Feb 2025 - decided to see if things had maybe improved or gotten close to what they used to be... Very disappointed. Quality had dropped though I do see they've updated the decor. The items themselves look just fine - but are absent of flavor. Such a disapointment since as I said this used to be my favorite. So be warned - there is another buffet relatively close to this one (you can easily find) that is much better. read more

We had a lunch there today and it was very delicious. They had whitefish shrimp and imitation crab. The sushi was just OK. It was dripping in teriyaki sauce which I didn't really care for everything was great besides, in my opinion the sushi. read more

Re-opened after a full remodeling! The place look FANTASTIC. The food was hot and fresh with a wide variety, even at lunch time. This can only mean that it is even better for dinner. I got mine to go due to time constraints. They charge per pound when you get it to-go. My full plate in the picture was 1.5 for about $9.50. would recommend for anyone looking to go to a buffet again. Huge variety, clean, friendly staff. read more

11:45 on a Tuesday. The wings were like jerky. The black pepper chicken was dried out. All of the sushi was a riff on Kani with mayo. They actually had a mayo dispenser with a pump top on a gallon of mayo. Not kewpie. Food service heavy mayo. The seaweed salad was good as was the chicken and broccoli. The chicken had that great velvet texture and the broccoli was cooked Al dente. So there is someone here that can pull it off. For $10.99 there are so many other options. I was on my way to half price sushi at Ginza but thought I'd give this place a try. Lesson learned. read more

Once we paid, she stood over us while we were trying to leave. "No tip?" I love a good chinese buffet, because I want a few bites of everything. I went here on my own to see how their reopening went. The place looked clean, and the employees were friendly and attentive. My only qualm was I wish there had been a bit more to choose from. There was a decent selection, don't get me wrong, but it felt like a smaller buffet. Sushi was included, and there was a buffet table of that, so I believe it was priced fairly. The hot food was hot, and the cold food was cold which is usually an issue at buffets so that was a big plus as well. Oh, and the crab rangoon was good, which is always important to me when it comes to chinese. I'd return here when I'm having a craving for a little bit of everything :) read more

Hate to give bad reviews but this one deserves it. We arrived at around the middle of the evening, about 6:30 or so. The food was cold, not fresh, very greasy, some had a very bad smell and the food that was supposed to be cold, like seafood salad was warm! Service was as bad as the food. Told this to the staff, and they seemed to AGREE, but just gave various lame excuses (business is slow, the air conditioning makes the food cold, say it is better on the weekends etc, etc...). Worst excuses I have ever heard! Why should the customer be expected to pay for their LACK OF EDIBLE FOOD and decent service. The attitude of the staff was sort of take it or leave it. We chose to leave it. Had to go to another place to eat. Needless to say, we will NEVER return. Edit: One other thing, it is very rude and disrespectful to discuss a customer's complaint in another language while they are standing right in front of you. read more

Food was good. Most things were fresh and most items on the buffet were full. I suggest having your food cooked hot off the grill for the best results. One concern is that the bathrooms are not very inviting and doors need painting. read more

Its definitely a hit or miss. But the buffet itself is very clean and refreshed often. My stand out things are the crab Rangoon, the chicken on the stick and surprisingly the sides like rice and lo mein. They do have a hibachi grill and its a great bang for your buck. I personally love the garlic sauce with mine. My 10yr old really liked making his own plate of food and watching it being cooked. They do have more American things on the menu like pizza, French fries and chicken tenders for that picky toddler you might have like me. They were inconsistent on their pricing the two times we went this last month. Both times on a Wednesday both times with our kiddos and the latest time they charged us weekend prices even though it was Wednesday. But the wait staff is friendly though and clears the table quite often. read more

The food is good but, the Ice Cream Section does not have anything to wash their scoops with. Cones were left open and they bended. They removed the part from the ice cream scoopers where if your hand is on the handle, the inside of the scoop gets warm. They made it hard for the ice cream to scoop! read more

It's been quite a long time since I've been to Jumbo but they've been around for many years. Look, most Chinese buffets aren't good. But there are two things that I remember really enjoying about Jumbo Buffet: Their baked salmon and their pot stickers. I usually hate thick skinned dumplings but Jumbo gets it right. They sear it enough on the outside and somehow, sitting on that steam table, it actually keeps it to where the skin isn't chewy but not too overcooked. Pot stickers on a buffet are usually bad unless they're kept in a steam basket or very fresh, but a thick skin actually solves the problem without needing a steam basket. Their baked salmon, ok it's probably from Sam's Club or something but it's unlimited and it's really hard to screw up salmon that's baked with butter and probably some salt. If for whatever reason I find myself here again, definitely gobbling up their pot stickers and salmon. read more

This has always been my fav amongst the Chinese restaurants in Louisville. I have been three times since the remodeling of the restaurant. My first visit was extremely disappointing. The food quality was noticeably worse than usual. While the emphasis was on the "new" space it was apparent the food was sacrificed. Second visit was improved relative to the food so I was very hopeful and optimistic that they were in track. My visit a couple of days ago showed my optimism was short sighted. It simply doesn't taste as good as in the past. I REALLY wanted this place to improve. I'm now going on a search for some decent Chinese fare in the area. One extra star for their fried wings. Since the demise of the other Chinese buffet across the street and that other super yummy one on the east side on Chamberlain, Jumbo has become my default fix for Chinese buffet cravings. Just like T.T. has mentioned, I also no longer come here for their seafood offerings. The few remaining standouts are: wings, hot and sour soup and that one spicy chicken cube dish. Surprisingly, their wings are one of the best wings in the area. They are exactly what I want in a wing: jumbo, juicy and fried with the thinnest of flour coating. Their hot and sour soup is also great every time, spicy and just enough sour to sting the palate. And somehow, their offerings are very, very consistent. Every dish taste the same every time I go there. Not sure how they do it, but I know I can't duplicate it at home so I keep coming back. read more

People say this has to be the best Chinese buffet anywhere. I can't claim that as I've visited a number in CA that would hold their own and then some. But of the ones I've tried in the midwest this one is Best! Hey I made a rhyme! Why it's good; Service is surprisingly attentive, but not too much, your glass will always bill full. It's big, there are really a ton of food choices, even if you don't want Chinese food. They have a Sushi bar They have a Mongolian style BBQ They have some of the best Bourbon Chicken I've ever tasted (they've gotten awards for it) They are actually decorated, not a strip mall style place. It's sort of international, every time I go there are people from all over the world eating here, Hispanic, Indian, Asian, Middle Eastern, and yes Southerners! They have 3-4 soups every day They have Dumplings, several kinds in fact They have craw fish (or crawdads if your from that part fo the country) There si a salad bar, pizza, fried chicken for those who don't want Chinese and you can also count on most of the deserts being better than the average Chinese place (why are Chines restaraunt deserts often so terrible). Also a soft serve Ice Cream and Sunday Bar. And after Lunch or Dinner walk of the move theater and catch the altest movie. read more

Overall I thought this was a great buffet. The place was clean and the selection was big. I was sad that they didn't have honey chicken but otherwise everything was great. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The cost of this one is more expensive than others though. It was $9 for the buffet lunch. I only had water to drink. So don't go expecting a $6 lunch. read more

This place is like all of the other buffet places in our city. Hit or miss, I will say this is one of the places we do make returns. When they are a hit, like they were on this visit, it makes me remember why I disregard the times they were only just so-so.
