Asian Wok continues to be our spot for delicious, easy-to-order, decently-priced Chinese food. We most recently ordered from here over the weekend, and I was reminded why this continues to be my family's go-to. We are able to order easily via their online ordering. (How can a restaurant today *not* have this?!?) And then our food is ready, usually within 20-25 minutes. A recent favorite of mine: the Dragon & Phoenix, which is made up of jumbo shrimp with mixed vegetables, sauteed in white sauce on one side, with General Tso's chicken on the other side. I left disappointed in the food. Their bento box options sounded like a great deal and yes you do get a lot of food. It's just not quality food. The sesame chicken is highly breaded and processed. Some pieces were too tough to chew. Not much sesame but lots of sauce. The rice was flavorless. The only reason for 3 stars is because the California roll was pretty decent and you do get so much for what you pay. An egg roll and shamai were also included. A typical Chinese-American takeout restaurant. High quantities of food for a low price. The general tso's chicken and beef and broccoli were pretty good. The fried rice was subpar. The crab rangoon were pretty average but the egg rolls were good. Parking around there is difficult on a Friday night. Asian Wok is a place to go for cheap food. I got the pepper steak with onion lunch special. The food was nothing special. It wasn't good, it wasn't bad. My dish had far less meat than I expected or wanted, but my friend ordered orange chicken and got a lot of meat, so it seems it would differ depending on what you order. The service was fine. You order at the counter and seat yourself and they bring the food out to you. It's a small place but had plenty of seating open because it seems to be more popular as a take out option. I went with a friend and we had a nice conversation because it was just the two of us in the building. All in all, Asian Wok is nothing to write home about. There's much better food out there, but it sure is cheap. If you're just looking to save money and not spend that much, this is an option to have open. read more

I've been trying to find a place in Louisville that makes a great fried rice with loads of flavor......I still haven't found one. Here the Chicken Fried Rice is REALLY plain. If that's what you want this is for you. I also got the Gyoza Dumplings and they were great! Ordered delivery from Asian Wok and enjoyed the food and service. Although I did not see the inside of the restaurant, all my food was packaged very nicely for delivery and seemed very fresh. I ordered the hot and sour soup, which was delicious, but very filling. I also ordered the seaweed salad and edamame, which were great values for the amount of food they gave you. My favorite thing I had was the spicy tuna roll, which tasted fresh and had 8 pieces instead of the usual 6. Found this carry out restaurant on Frankfort Ave on a whim, and so glad I did! Fast and friendly service. The menu offers lots of options including vegetarian . The food is not greasing or heavy. The portions are large enough to share. The prices are very fair. There are tables to eat in, but I feel like this is more of a take out place. It must be pretty popular due to the amount of take out traffic there was. Recommend this place if you are looking for a late, light, or quick bite. read more

Finally. SUSHI. I had not had the opportunity to try Asian Wok pre-COVID. But amidst the pandemic, I was craving sushi. Like hardcore wanting my sushi fix. It had been MONTHS since I had a good roll. I had attempted DoorDash delivery from at least two other places, only to have my order be accepted, card charged, and ultimately cancelled...right at the time where most places stop accepting delivery orders. Cool cool cool cool cool. Finally, I decided to order DoorDash from Asian Wok, fully expecting the same thing to happen. BUT...finally....SUCCESS. Aside from the sushi rolls, I absolutely wanted some seaweed salad. It is one of my most favorite things! Not every Asian place has it, but this one does. I was overjoyed to get to add it to my order. I also ordered two rolls that were familiar enough to me that I didn't think it could get messed up. Crunch Munch roll and Yum Yum roll. Because this girl loooooves anything with crab in it. Their crunch munch isn't my most favorite version of it, but I liked it (and the rest of my food) well enough to order the same thing again a week or so later. Would certainly recommend, at least during the pandemic. I can't speak to in-person service. But the food has left me satisfied! read more

Currently it is only carry out orders. But I was very pleasantly surprised. Compared to other Asian places it might be slightly higher price, but minimal. Many good news, the service is very quick. I arrived and placed my order there and within 10 minutes I was on my way. You can place your order online and just arrive and pick it up. Most people did that :) The portions are good, you will be surprised how much rice comes in the little box. As for the entree they are good size. The absolute best are the flavors. The vegetables are crisp and flavorful, the proteins are really good too. The location is excellent and cannot wait for the time when they allow you to eat inside. read more

Is there a negative number rating? Ordered in DoorDash, got a confirmation and the dasher sat there for an hour. Just watching people go in and out - getting their food but not fulfilling our order. I tried calling to get an update, but just got a recorded message that they were too busy. If you didn't want to fill online orders, then don't open up the ability to take them. We placed our order 3 hours ahead of time, so we could have gone elsewhere if the restaurant didn't want our business. By the time it became obvious- other restaurants were closed. They have a great menu for vegetarians with plentiful options that are very reasonably priced. They also have delicious Bubble Tea. I adore this place and come here OFTEN. I really like their reasonably priced sushi options. Tip - see their paper menu for deals on non-specialty sushi roll orders! A lot of times I'll also grab some rangoons, dumplings, or fried rice too and it's never let me down. My boyfriend has tried lots of their dishes as well and always enjoys them. He's a big guy, and can really pack it away, but we can both fill up for around $30 here which is great. My last visit I popped in for a quick carry out, and was in-out in no time. They made my rolls to order, and were lickety split about it, which I really appreciated. They also do delivery too, which is great when you are craving but not feeling up to finding a parking spot - Street parking, no parking lot, and can be busy at prime time... but hey don't let that stop you from checking it out! read more

Asian wok is a great value! I placed my online order for sweet and sour chicken, crab rangoon, and chicken lo mein. After paying online, it was an estimated 50 minutes for delivery, but it arrived after 20 minutes! The lady who dropped off my food was wearing a mask and the bag was sealed. The food was hot and good. The chicken was still crispy even after being delivered. The lo meain was packed full. I would recommend taking it out of the container and stirring it up because it was a bit dry on the top but the bottom had spme extra liquid. Overall I would order from this place again. so I def overpaid for my families meal, the prices on doordash were outrageous so I tried to make the order online , it's temporarily unavailable, so I had to call. no big deal, until.... they gave the same price from DoorDash for a pickup order. when I calculated the price from their site it came to $59.25. I don't know how it came to $72. Then it came time to eat. They do not do well with hibachi flavor, in fact, I can make hibachi rice better myself. The rice itself was definitely some type of uncle Ben's minute rice. It was def boiled in a bag and then egg, and onion were added. absolutely NO UMAMI flavor to dream of. Came home one day to see a menu on my doorknob...it was perfect timing as Cafe Mimosa had just closed, leaving me with no go-to Chinese delivery. I was really pleased with the fast delivery and accuracy of the order, it was quick and just as we'd ordered. This place is going to be my new go-to for fast Chinese food. Clean, reasonably priced, and with parking at The Hub next door (yay for not having to parallel park on Frankfort Ave!), there is a lot going for this spot. I had seen the sign when this place first opened, but what really got me in the door was the pictures on Yelp -- it looked delicious! I visited recently for lunch. Located next to 5-0-Lou, as mentioned above there is shared space with The Hub, so parking was a cinch. Once inside it is a very clean and open restaurant with a cure into the kitchen with its large hibachi grill. Employees are exceptionally courteous and friendly. I got the overwhelming impression that they are eager to make you feel welcome and satisfied during your visit here. For my meal, I went with a wonton soup and a spicy tuna roll. There are lunch specials on the Chinese menu that are available from 11-3, and I have that flagged for my return visit. Both the soup and the sushi were fantastic. The soup came with 4 wontons and had s good flavor to it -- not just overly salty like some Wonton Soups tend to be. The spicy tuna roll was served on a bamboo platter, with a side of pickled ginger and a dollop of wasabi. The rolls tasted fresh, and didn't have too much rice on them (a personal pet peeve of mine). I would rate the quality of the sushi here above some sushi restaurants that I have visited in town, and at a much more affordable price point. I am looking forward to my next trip to Asian Wok and hope that your near future includes a meal at what is bound to become a new favorite place! read more

This has to be one of my favorite Chinese food places to go to. Especially since it is super close to our house. They are always super quick with getting food out and it's always hot and fresh. I love the sushi. It always has great flavor and it's reasonably priced. Their speciality rolls are the bomb. Their sesame chicken which is one of the regular orders is really flavorful and the rice is always perfect. Never super sticky or burned. They also started selling bubble tea which is good not as good as other bubble tea that I've had but definitely worth a try. I would totally recommend coming here for reasonably priced and great Chinese food. Especially during their lunch specials. They do have a minimum delivery price though. I eat a good amount of Chinese food, and I was absolutely not impressed! I ordered delivery to my hotel on a Tuesday night. There was a $15 minimum, so I added on am egg roll and rangoons to my sweet and sour chicken order. Delivery was quoted at 35-45 minutes... over an hour later I received my order. The egg roll was so greasy I could not even eat it! The sweet and sour chicken was also greasy and very plain (no green pepper, pineapple, etc.), and I barely ate that as well. The rangoons were fine and the fried rice was okay... again, pretty standard, nothing special. Other than that, I would not recommend ordering from here when there are so many other Chinese restaurants in the area. read more

Worst hibachi and sushi we have ever had! We got both the steak and chicken hibachi meals and 3 different rolls to-go. While our order was ready on time and the egg rolls were okay, the meat and sushi were inedible. The flavor was lacking for both the meat and fried rice, and the sushi was equivalent to what you find at a buffet, if not worst. We frequently eat sushi, however, my husband actually gagged and almost threw up upon trying it. We definitely will not be coming back and would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
