It felt like we were at our home having Sunday dinner. The food, can we talk about the food! It was AMAZING! We ordered just about everything on the menu, entree wise and everyone had an opportunity to taste what they didn't order. The food came out hot, fresh, well seasoned- perfect!!! Ms. Lucretia and staff, you're doing your thing! We will be back! Thank you for an enjoyable meal after a long and sad day. Shawn - The Host

It has a cozy, charming atmosphere that's perfect for catching up with friends. Unfortunately, the service left a lot to be desired. It took a long time for us to be greeted, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. It was just my friend and me along with a larger group of about 10 people. One thing that made it confusing was that the employees didn't seem to have consistent uniforms, so it was difficult to tell who actually worked there. Our server was friendly, but he kept forgetting items we requested and took a long time to return to our table. I used to be a server myself, so I understand that things happen and I try to give people grace. However, the pace of service felt excessive considering how few tables were occupied. The food was okay overall, but I actually thought my meal tasted better after reheating the leftovers at home. My friend also noticed that part of her chicken looked undercooked, which was concerning. We didn't feel confident about that portion of the meal. The biggest downside for me was the pricing. For the portion sizes, food quality, and overall experience, it felt overpriced. I can definitely see why people like the atmosphere because it's a cute spot, but between the slow service, the concerns with the food, and the prices, my visit didn't live up to my expectations. I'm hoping this was just an off day because the restaurant has a lot of potential.

I believe the entrees pretty much change daily. They had fried and smothered chicken, pot roast, and made to order catfish and whiting. I chose the catfish, cabbage, mac & cheese, & cornbread dressing (chicken gravy, thank you very much!) Since mine was made to order, they brought it to my table and it was super quick after ordering, too. First things first, for $20, the portions are HUGE. Two giant catfish fillets, perfectly breaded, fresh and so flavorful (do not skip on the vinegar based hot sauce on the table-so good!) The mac and cheese was creamy and flavorful, the cabbage was perfectly cooked with smoked sausage, and the cornbread dressing was moist without being too sage heavy. The lemonade was also home made and totally elite! I already have plans to go back this Thursday when they have oxtails!

Generous portions served by the most polite and friendly people I have come across in ages!!!!! 3 young men maintained eye contact and a smile with each us ( even my brother who couldn't decide what he wanted ) "yes ma'am, no ma'am. Yes, sir - no, sir." Not," naw, nope, yeah- my bad." I will pay for service over any thing else!!! Ok. With that being said... the restaurant is beautiful and spacious. The parking is great and the building is easy to get to. This is old school cafeteria style so you can see what you're getting. I really appreciate my visit. The waitress was attentive without being intrusive.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with such warmth and hospitality. The hostess was incredibly sweet, even taking a picture of our family for us. We were seated promptly, and the service remained excellent throughout our visit. I ordered the Soulful Egg Rolls, a Peach Lemon Drop (I believe that was the name), the pork chop meal, and a slice of bourbon pecan pie to go since I had a flight to catch later that day. Let me just say--the Soulful Egg Rolls were AMAZING! I wish I had ordered more to take home. I let my cousin try one, and she immediately placed an order for her own. Everyone in our group loved their meals. My cousins ordered the catfish, which was seasoned to perfection, and the mac and cheese was hands down some of the best I've ever tasted. I was honestly wishing I had ordered some for myself! Another cousin ordered the chicken and waffles and couldn't stop talking about how good they were. When I finally got home, my pork chop meal was just as delicious as I remembered, and that bourbon pecan pie was one of the best pecan pies I've ever had. Honestly, I would fly back to Louisville just to eat here again. The food, service, and atmosphere were all a 10 out of 10. If you're visiting Louisville and looking for incredible soul food, do yourself a favor and check this place out. You won't be disappointed!

Two stars. My…read moreprevious review was posted nearly two years ago, so I'm not sure why it's showing as if it were written more recently. Unfortunately, this establishment appears to be on the decline. The exceptional food and standout service we experienced during earlier visits have noticeably diminished over my last three visits. While menu prices have steadily increased by roughly $3 to $9 per item over the past year, the quality of the food, portion sizes, and overall service have all declined. During our most recent visit, many of the items we came for were unavailable. After waiting for about 30 minutes, we ultimately decided to leave. At these price points, it's unreasonable to expect guests to settle for limited options. And if there are significant menu limitations, they should be communicated upfront! Service was also a concern. There were only two servers for the entire restaurant, and while our server, Kay, is typically excellent, she seemed overwhelmed and off her game. After a long wait, we placed an appetizer order, only to wait even longer before she returned and asked if we wanted appetizers. Are you kidding me right now? I think that was the moment I was over this place. She proceeded to tell us the collard green dip wasn't available along with three or four other items we were considering. We had been left waiting for an item that was never coming. Absolutely bogus. Adding to the frustration, a manager stopped by to ask if we had placed our orders. When we said no, he did not offer to take them and simply moved on. I understand that rising food costs and staffing challenges are real issues, but they do not excuse a decline in quality and service. My place setting was not clean. There was a nearby table that ordered Sprite but was served Sierra Mist. And my friend's $50 short ribs resembled a cut of roast. Fried mushrooms are now $19! And fried chicken is $24 for four pieces...that's 6/piece! Including the drumstick! Unacceptable. The prices showing on Yelp are not accurate. They need to be updated. And I am never excited when an establishment chooses to add an automatic gratuity to my bill. That's a red flag, too. On a positive note, the music was enjoyable and parking was convenient. Still, the overall experience was disappointing. I enjoy supporting Black-owned businesses. So these experiences are especially disheartening. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and makes the necessary improvements. If not, the end is near. Do better, Dasha Barbour's.

There are also picnic tables out front. You get a faint whiff of the grill/smoker upon entering. Kylie was our bartender and she was fabulous - knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all of our questions with patience. Wife ordered a mango margarita and doesn't like a lot of tequila, so Kylie went half and gave her a shot on the side in case she wanted to add more. It was wonderful. I had a couple of beers. We started with the fried mushrooms, which aren't what you would expect. It's two large portobellos cut into chunks, battered, fried, and served with sun-dried tomato mayo. They were great. I then ordered a duck taco, brisket taco, and a side of Grippo Fries with smoked mayo. I'd never tried duck but that taco was smack-a-lackin'. The brisket taco was also good, and the fries were fantastic - sweet and spicy, fresh cut, and crispy. Wife ordered a pork belly slider and truffle fries. She enjoyed the slider but didn't care for the fries - just not her thing. The portions here are large. A side of fries will feed three people. We took a hefty portion of them home, as well as some of the mushrooms. We could've sat there at the bar and spent 3 hours socializing and enjoying a smattering of cocktails - love the setting. Look forward to going back and trying one of the burgers at some point.

Well I'd classify this place as a dive bar in the sense of the word. It's definitely not 4 star…read morenoted and maybe not the best exclusive signage and overall 4 star appeal; but it a diamond in the rough, persa. This place is quaint, nice location (on a corner ) decent seating, not a big outdoor dining area, the bar is long and has the memories of the old day saloon. Now the food; terribly good! Menu isn't extensive but good items and variety that will satisfy anyone's appetite. It was Father's Day but as soon as it opened they were quickly filled with patrons and people kept coming; even waiting to get in. The fries in duck fat were awesome. Since so many baskets of fries like this for a long time. The smoked wings are great, meaty and savory. I had the pork belly tacos; my only disappointment was you only get 2 per order. The fine combination of ingredients were splendid and the pork belly so tender. My wife had the bbq pork sandwich on pretzel bun. Very good tasting and this was with no bbq sauce on it. If you're in the area, do yourself a a favor and stop in. I can't wait to go back ( as we live in southern Indiana) so might be a bit but definitely want to try a few other items.
