Two stars. My previous review was posted nearly two years ago, so I'm not sure why it's showing as if it were written more recently. Unfortunately, this establishment appears to be on the decline. The exceptional food and standout service we experienced during earlier visits have noticeably diminished over my last three visits. While menu prices have steadily increased by roughly $3 to $9 per item over the past year, the quality of the food, portion sizes, and overall service have all declined. During our most recent visit, many of the items we came for were unavailable. After waiting for about 30 minutes, we ultimately decided to leave. At these price points, it's unreasonable to expect guests to settle for limited options. And if there are significant menu limitations, they should be communicated upfront! Service was also a concern. There were only two servers for the entire restaurant, and while our server, Kay, is typically excellent, she seemed overwhelmed and off her game. After a long wait, we placed an appetizer order, only to wait even longer before she returned and asked if we wanted appetizers. Are you kidding me right now? I think that was the moment I was over this place. She proceeded to tell us the collard green dip wasn't available along with three or four other items we were considering. We had been left waiting for an item that was never coming. Absolutely bogus. Adding to the frustration, a manager stopped by to ask if we had placed our orders. When we said no, he did not offer to take them and simply moved on. I understand that rising food costs and staffing challenges are real issues, but they do not excuse a decline in quality and service. My place setting was not clean. There was a nearby table that ordered Sprite but was served Sierra Mist. And my friend's $50 short ribs resembled a cut of roast. Fried mushrooms are now $19! And fried chicken is $24 for four pieces...that's 6/piece! Including the drumstick! Unacceptable. The prices showing on Yelp are not accurate. They need to be updated. And I am never excited when an establishment chooses to add an automatic gratuity to my bill. That's a red flag, too. On a positive note, the music was enjoyable and parking was convenient. Still, the overall experience was disappointing. I enjoy supporting Black-owned businesses. So these experiences are especially disheartening. Was looking for a casual, laid back, but refined date night dining spot and found it. Got the street corn dip and fried mushrooms to start. The fried mushrooms were for sure some of the best I've had. The corn was extra cheesy. We followed this with shrimp and grits which were perfect but also cheesy. I'd super love to try the collard dip next time. Service was absolutely top notch. From the moment we walked in we were greeted with smiles and staff eager to make our experience pleasant. My better half had this spot bookmarked from TikTok and was set on making it her birthday move. We were in town, so boom--let's pull up. Had an 8:45 reservation, but it was packed--like "stand-by and hope for the best" packed. Dope ambience though: upscale, Black-curated, with views of Main Street and staff dressed like they just walked off a style shoot. Got sat at 9:30 after a staff-favored birthday crew slid in ahead of us. No shade, but definitely an inconvenience. Waitress was kind but clearly spread thin--wife's cocktail sat at the bar for 10 minutes before a heads-up from me got it moving. Then came the mic: birthday shoutout time. Except... they missed ours. My wife played it cool, but yeah, she felt that. We tried to make her feel better by saying "imagine how embarrassed you'd be" - but it was definitely a punch to the gut. Food took its time but landed right. Cheese & greens dip = phenomenal. Salmon nugs? Fire--thanks to that sauce. Fried catfish was solid, salmon well-cooked, but that Rasta Pasta missed the mark. If I could leave it completely blank I would!! I'm highly disappointed with my recent experience here. I placed and paid for an online order with a confirmed pickup time, but when I arrived, the location was closed despite Google showing it should be open. There was no indication of a delay or closure after checking social media or even at the establishment and of course, couldn't reach anyone by phone or messaging via social media. This was a major inconvenience that is just honestly unacceptable. It resulted in wasted time, gas, and money, and I've also had no response since after reaching out for support. While the food may be good, the overall business practices could most certainly benefit from some proper business acumen as far as structure and customer experience improvement. I hope better communication and systems are put in place so customers are not left in this situation again. read more

The place is beautiful inside. The location is nice. Right downtown close to wear the action is but not too close. Only street parking and then there are some garages nearby walking distance. The only con I had is it seemed everything was slow coming out but everything was piping hot. So I know everything was freshly cooked. All the food was amazing. The cornbread was sweet and had so much flavor. The marry me chicken was so hot, I had to let it sit for a bit. But when I bit into it, oh my the sauce flavor was everything. Seemed like 3 strips of chicken under all the sauce. I didn't like how the mash potatoes were sitting next to the bowl on the plate. Some of them mashed potatoes got stuck to the outside of the bowl and hard to get with the plate being so small for the bowl dish. The brussel sprouts had great flavor. The chipotle set them off. We went to Dasha Barbour's on a Sunday afternoon and really enjoyed ourselves. Food and service were great! We were staying downtown and walked approximately 7 minutes to the restaurant. Walking was probably a good idea because we ate so much food. Half of our group ordered the soul rolls as appetizers, which are apparently a really popular item. Everyone loved them. I had the chicken and waffles (pictured) and a side salad and everything was delicious. My husband ordered the fried chicken with collard greens and he said they were great. There were literally no complaints about the food at our table. There is a full bar and some of us ordered cocktails, which were all pretty good and reasonably priced. The drink menu indicates that they offer a lot of different flights. We didn't try any, but maybe we will during our next visit. Our 18-month old came with us. They have highchairs available. Although they do not have a children's menu, the baby and I were able to share the chicken and waffles and I requested a side order of two additional chicken tenders for the baby. When we walked in from the street, there were an additional few stairs (maybe 5 or 6) to climb to get to the hostess stand and the main restaurant. Since we had a stroller with us and it wasn't too many steps, my husband and I just carried the stroller with the baby in it up those stairs. There may have been another accessible entrance somewhere, but we didn't see it. The overall ambiance is also very nice. It feels like you are attending a relative's fancy party or wedding lol. They also played great music in the background. We noticed a DJ area and equipment near our table, so I assume they have a DJ playing tunes sometimes. In town for my birthday weekend. We were staying down the street and not in the mood for a burger or a steak. I found this restaurant on Yelp and saw they had catfish so I was interested right away! We didn't have a reservation but the two of us sat at the bar with no waiting. The bartender made our drinks perfectly (I had a mint julep and he had an old fashioned). I had questions about what I should order and he suggested I go with the catfish and grits. I'm not normally big on grits but he was convincing. OMG That plate is going on my list of top meals ever. It was so good - the catfish was tender and perfectly crispy, not greasy or overly seasoned. And the sauce and grits were unbelievable. I was in heaven with each bite. I did NOT plan to eat the whole thing but I was not leaving one crumb of catfish behind. My boyfriend got the Marry Me Chicken and cornbread. Dasha Barbour's was recommended so we decided to give it a try for a birthday dinner. Our experience was ok. We had reservations for 6pm, however due to trouble finding parking, we arrived 2 minutes pas the grace period and our reservation had been cancelled. After a bit on confusion and back and forth between the staff, we were seated. The ambiance of the restaurant is nice--reserved tables are thoughtfully decorated, and the R&B music creates a great vibe. We visited on a Saturday evening, and while it was busy, it wasn't overly crowded. However, there are a few areas for improvement. The windows inside were noticeably dirty, with greasy fingerprints that could have easily been wiped away during table bussing. Additionally, the food was served on scratched gold chargers. Chargers are typically used for layering with plates, not for direct eating. The condition of the chargers raised concerns about safety, as I wondered whether metallic particles could get into the food. While I appreciate the aesthetic they were aiming for, it would be better to pair the chargers with proper plates. Our server, Kasiane was absolutely wonderful! She was so pleasant, answering all of our questions and offering menu suggestions. She was very attentive to our table, she kept our waters refilled and checked on us often. She was the bright spot in our evening. She even arranged a special shout-out for the birthday girl! After placing our orders, our appetizer came out quickly, however, it did take a while for our entrees to come out. As previously mentioned, there was a decent crowd that evening, but not overly busy so I don't understand why it took so long to get our food. The shrimp appetizer was very good, but the entree was just ok. I had the salmon rasta pasta which I give a 3/5. The salmon was good, but the pasta was mediocre at best. I don't feel like it was seasoned well and that took away from the dish. Not a great meal. Not a terrible meal. The music was a vibe, our server was amazing. Would I go back? Probably not. Ronnette D'andria Combs: My granddaughter made a reservation for 12 people at Dasha's Barbour Restaurant for 8:15 p.m. on Saturday, February 21, 2026. Prior to our arrival, she received a phone call from someone at the establishment reminding her to be on time for the reservation -- which we were. I have never experienced a restaurant calling to emphasize punctuality, so we made sure to arrive promptly. Unfortunately, when we arrived on time, our table was not ready. We waited approximately 45 minutes to an hour before being seated. During that time, a staff member mentioned they were running about 30 minutes behind, although they appeared to be fully staffed. When I asked how much longer it would be, I was told they were "getting us together," and the server mentioned she "fought to be our server," which I found to be an odd comment. After finally being seated, we ordered drinks, which arrived in a reasonable time. However, it took about an hour for our food to come out. During that wait, our waitress did not check on us. I had to personally ask what was taking so long, especially since another table that was seated after us received their food before we did. We were told their order was placed two minutes before ours, which did not justify the extended delay. When our food finally arrived, one member of our party did not receive her meal until about 10 minutes after everyone else had been served. Throughout the meal, the waitress did not return to check on us to see if everything was satisfactory. We had to request our checks and carryout boxes ourselves. Additionally, a 20% gratuity was automatically added to each ticket. While I understand many establishments add gratuity for larger parties (typically 8 or more), we were informed that their policy applies to parties of 5 or more. I do not mind paying 18-20% for good service, but in this case, the service simply did not reflect that level of gratuity. The menu prices were quite high for what I would consider a basic restaurant experience. There was nothing particularly unique or specialty-driven about the menu compared to many chain restaurants. I would rate the food a 7 out of 10 -- decent, but not enough to outweigh the overall experience. I was able to dine at this lovely restaurant while in town for the Funk Fest. I loved it so much that I had to return for a second visit while there. The ambiance and decor was really nice! They played music which provided a little excitement to the experience. First Visit - Dinner We had reservations and was seated a few minutes after arrival. We were greeted immediately by the server. Someone at the table ordered the fried salmon bites as an appetizer and I was able to sample one. They were very good! We also tried the collard green dip. The concept was pretty interesting and pretty much identical to spinach dip, however the texture was a miss and it was way too cheesy. I also had the opportunity to sample a piece of their friend chicken. The chicken was fried hard and seasoned well and just simply amazing!! After looking around the restaurant, I noticed that there were only a few tables occupied, so I figured it wouldn't be that bad....Boy, was I wrong! There were only two of us dining together. That was the longest that I'd ever had to wait for food. It took well over an hour for us to finally receive it. We only stayed because our schedule was free and wanted to give them a try again since we enjoyed it so much during the previous visit. I was puzzled by the delay because again, they weren't even close to busy that day. The server explained that they had only started opening for brunch a couple of weeks ago which was one of the reasons for the delay.... I got the chicken and waffles. The waffles were soooo good! You didn't even need syrup to enjoy them! My friend ordered the catfish and grits and it looked amazing. She thoroughly enjoyed hers too. Overall, we were pleased with the food and the server was very friendly. Although it took forever to get our food, I can say it was actually worth the wait. However, I hope that doesn't become the norm on Sundays, because many customers will probably not be as patient. By far my favorite restaurant from my visit. We made dinner reservations for a Thursday evening. I saw online that the downstairs portion has a happy hour that starts at 8pm, which we planned to try out. The upstairs dinning area is very well designed. Open and inviting with nice decor and color scheme. All I can say is the food was amazing. Everything was well seasoned and freshly prepared. We ordered various items to try and amongst the table. Appetizers: fried salmon bites, collard green dip and fried green tomatoes. 5/5 Entree: deep fried catfish with a side of spicy collard greens. .... The place is surprisingly spacious, and the vibe is really nice! The bar was pretty empty, so I just grabbed a seat there. I inquired about hearing about this famous mac and cheese, and there it was! I had it before long, and I also got this Asian-style chicken dish that was about to be taken off the menu. They were both delicious! A group of us came in on a Saturday night for dinner and decided to sit at the bar. The inside of the restaurant gives a chic new orleans themed vibe. Once seated the bartender approached us right away to share the specials for the day and to take our drink orders. We ordered the soulfood egg rolls (8/10), salmon bites(10/10), chipotle brussel sprouts (8/10), and the infamous collard green dip (8/10) to share. If you order nothing else from this list, you must order the salmon bites. I repeat order the salmon bites!! They were seasoned to perfection and very addictive. Basically food was cold and not good. Our waitress(which was her first day) and the company I came with was the highlight of the evening. Management was very unprofessional, they treated us like we cooked the food, and didn't take our complaints seriously....asking "what are we trying to accomplish with these complaints" after several staff came to ask us what was the problem. First time we tried to come here it was so busy we couldn't get in, this time we made a reservation and it wasn't busy when we got there (at first) but later a crowd came in for an event. Rec 'n Brunch was the event and it was cool we got to have a little fun with the games we weren't expecting. The space is very nice, upscale vibe and there is a dining space upstairs and downstairs. Dined here for the first time on a Saturday evening. We were greeted and taken to our table quickly. The ambience was in many ways great. The furniture and lighting are lovely. We were luckily not sat by an open window, which I was thankful for because it was very hot outside. I am usually cold indoors, but the overall temperature was good for me. They had a beautiful bar, and good bar menu. Reasonable prices for downtown ($6 draft beer, $10 Makers Mark). Server greeted us quickly and was attentive throughout the meal. Appetizer came out fast. Chipotle Shrimp Skewer-tasty but more sweet than spicy. Crab Cake entree was okay. I like my crab cakes cooked a little longer, more crispy on the outside. Remoulade sauce was good. Salmon Cajun pasta entree was good, well cooked, but could have been spicier. One stall bathroom was clean. The hand towel paper dispenser was alarmingly loud, so just be ready to be startled. The music was good, but exceptionally LOUD. Like really, really loud. And yes, I am older so I get that it might be an age thing. But we had trouble hearing each other across the table, and were almost yelling to communicate. And personally, I really do not like hearing the N word in songs. I get that it is pervasive in some genres of music, I just find it offensive personally. So, bottom line, overall a great experience. Very glad to have found this place. Dasha Barbours came highly recommended as a spot to try when in Louisville. I had high hopes but unfortunately was a little let down. The food is just okay for the price. The music and vibes are totally on point though! If you want to jam to some R&B while you dine this is the spot. The table service was also wonderful! She was attentive and knowledgeable. The music was volume maybe 5/6 of 10. There are two hosting stands when you enter but you want to choose the one inside and upstairs. My wife wanted pork chops and I opted for cat fish and grits. There is an 18% charge that you really won't mind for bills larger than $70 if service is good. I want to be clear the food was seasoned well. That was absolutely not catfish, it was swai or some kind of fluffy white fish. I hate when that happens and I was off put after that. I didn't have any issues with our service.
