    Pork Belly Slider

I would have never found this place if it wasn't for a TikTok video, and I'm so glad I did! This restaurant is in a residential neighborhood and definitely has "hole in the wall vibes." We were there on a busy Friday night and had to wait for a table and awhile for the food but it was to be expected. Definitely get some of the fries-I had the Grippo fries, and pay the extra for the smoked mayo. I'll definitely be back.

Best fries I've ever had and a top tier burger in the 502. The brisket was unbelievable and this is one of my favorite restaurants now

It was an early Saturday evening, I called ahead to see if there was seating available and there was. We got there and were seated right away, service is slower here but the servers do a lot of different things so don't worry about service time. I got water to drink and my parents got a Diet Coke, water an a beer, they were hoping to have a Budweiser but settled for a PBR since it was an alternative. They didn't know you can ask for a taste of beers on tap & got them to try the lager and they liked that better. So got a pint of that. We ordered fried mushrooms for the table and those hand down were the best ones I have had in a while. The only thing would love that they would have a spicy ranch or horseradish sauce to go with it. I orders the roasted duck tacos, my parents got the potatoes salad, Mac & cheese, half rack of ribs and fish tacos and an order of garlic herb fries. The duck taco was delicious the jalapeño lime sauce was perfect addition. The ribs were my favorite, pulled apart and flavorful. I tried a bit of the Mac & cheese and potato salad and it was ok, we waited awhile for the fries but those were worth the wait! Like I said service is spotty but they did have a full house and it was to be expected. The staff was very nice and helpful and the food was good. It's definitely loud inside so if you're looking for a place for talking or romantic. This isn't it, it's more of a divey hangout place with good food.

Came here since I saw several recommendations as it being a local spot and a favorite. I was not disappointed! I decided to go with a couple of tacos, although depending on what you want, you could get sliders with the same ingredients instead. I went with one duck taco and one pork belly taco. I haven't had a great experience with duck in the past as I've tried it with different Asian dishes. This time, I figured why not try it if it's smoked meat, and the way it was described by one of the bartenders was that it smoked for several hours, rested, then cooked for an additional time for that special flavor. Man, they were not wrong. The duck was delicious. The pork belly was delicious. I would definitely try it again and other plates if given the chance. If I'm ever in Kentucky again, I'll make sure to stop by. Do yourself a favor and make this pitstop if you're in the area, totally worth it!

Hammerheads is one of those locations you must experience to truly understand what a great thing they have. It's not what one might expect when you first walk in but the food does not disappoint! Great things happen in small spaces!

Hammerheads is an amazing no frills restaurant with amazing food. The restaurant has a warm and relaxing atmosphere. There is seating at the bar and there is sit down tables as well. I had never tried catfish before and had the catfish tacos. They were delicious! I also enjoyed a margarita. The service was excellent! The staff were attentive and friendly and the food came out quickly. An all around amazing dining experience at very reasonable prices for how amazing the food is! Highly recommend!

This OG location has been around for a while and for good reason. Delicious smoked meats and upscale bar food. Small dive feel with tables, window, and bar seats available. Not the best for a big group but great for a few friends and awesome food!

Dive bar-ish place to grab some beers and some food! Food is not too bad but fave was the Fried Mushrooms- nicely fried and loved the shiitake. The Mac and Cheese balls were alright. Duck slider was pretty good, meat smoky and tender. The soft shell crab slider was better, well fried and tasty! Overall pretty good value and service was friendly, on point.

Solid! A little greasy/heavy but I liked it. 3.5, but closer to 3 than 4. In a cute, quiet part of the city.

Dive bar style place. Decent vibe. Drink was great. Food was mediocre. Server was great as well. Probably wouldn't return but not a terrible experience.

Late night Sunday dinner at one of my most-liked places to share a few appetizers and laughs with my pal over cocktails. Special seasonal cocktail featured is one of my favorites -- watermelon margarita with a salted rim. This went well with the ever tempting frontrunner of fries in duck fat and the mushrooms. I have to confess, I have yet to be able to get past these two items to get to the main menu because the apps are so spectacular. I keep returning with the intent to try a burger that another friend tells me to try. Someday soon, I'll do it. For now, I'm over the moon with the drinks and apps. Waitstaff and bartenders are all friendly and welcoming. Noise level is mild and easily able to have a conversation. Decor is funky and interesting. Bathrooms could use a remodel, but this is truly a charming neighborhood bar that is fine just as it is.

    Ask the Community - Hammerheads

    Is it kid-friendly?

The environment does allow for kids to come. There is a bar on the right side but there are a dozen or so tables for dining purposes. I do not know about the food options if any for kids. Kid friendly items could include smoked wings / fries

Is it loud in the building?

Due to the small space-the sound is trapped. It is loud, and they do play music. After a few minutes-its not as noticeable.

    Do they take reservations?

No. Maybe for a large party, but this is a small place.

Does Hammerheads grind their own meats for burgers?

    Is there happy hour?

Nope, but you are happy every hour you are there.

    Do they have Take Out?

I was hosting a business dinner in Louisville last week and wanted to try someplace new. I scanned…read morethe list of James Beard 2025 semifinalists and focused on two spots: MeeshMeesh and The Fat Lamb. MeeshMeesh is wildly popular and books out 60 days in advance, so that wasn't happening--but I was able to secure a timely reservation at The Fat Lamb. That turned out to be a great decision. It was a pleasure meeting Dallas McGarity, the executive chef and owner. He shared that the restaurant has been open for about ten years and that he's preparing to open a new Italian concept. When the topic of his James Beard nomination came up, he mentioned it was a complete surprise--the restaurant didn't self-nominate--which made the recognition feel even more meaningful. One thing I neglected to ask him directly was why lamb plays such a central role on the menu. Our server wasn't entirely sure either, but she did explain how the restaurant got its name. Apparently, Dallas was traveling through the countryside, spotted a particularly memorable "fat lamb" on a farm, and the name stuck. Sometimes it really is that simple. With four of us dining, we may have gone a bit overboard on starters--but no regrets. We shared the roasted Brussels sprouts, lamb kofta meatballs, fontina and truffle arancini, and the whipped feta and pita. Every dish was well-executed and easy to share, which made them ideal for a business dinner. For entrées, my wife and I split the signature tandoori and ancho spice-roasted lamb chops. They were flavorful without being heavy, and the black barbecue sauce added a nice depth. Our server highly recommended the Moroccan-spiced halibut, which our other guests shared and thoroughly enjoyed--especially the mushroom demi-glace. Dessert was the Nutella mousse, another house signature. The Italian cherries and chocolate shavings were a great finishing touch without pushing things into overly sweet territory. Beyond the food, what really stood out was the service and pacing. The evening flowed naturally--never rushed, never dragging--which is exactly what you want when entertaining clients or colleagues. The Fat Lamb delivered a memorable, well-rounded dining experience and easily earned its reputation. I'd happily return, whether for business or just a great night out.

My husband ordered the Cheese Tortellini which is fresh pasta, filled with a blend of Wisconsin cheese and herbs, tossed in a mushroom and spinach cream sauce that is finished with pine nuts and basil pesto. The hot chocolate was pipping hot and delicious topped with toasted marshmallows. The apple cider mimosas had a weird flavor, I would recommend going with another fruit juice option. We ordered the kids buttered noodles with waffle on the side - big wide noodles that were swimming in butter. My son thought it was too much butter but loved the type of noodles. The waffle was good - not very sweet but he enjoyed it. My daughter loved the chicken and waffles entree, but I thought the portion was a bit small for an adult entree. The chicken was freshly breaded but the waffle was on the smaller side. The sandwiches and soups were delicious - we had the club which was filled with ham and turkey and the perfect amount of mayo. The tomato soup was creamy and so satisfying. The Ruben was a good size and stuffed with corned beef and melty cheese! Overall we had a great experience- a bit on the pricey side. You enter from the back, and right away the staff greeted us warmly. We had a party of four and were seated quickly. The inside was beautiful with a great atmosphere definitely a cozy and welcoming vibe. Our server came to us in under a minute very fast, professional, and attentive. I ordered the cinnamon roll as an appetizer, and for my main breakfast I had the banana bread French toast, biscuits with eggs and cheese, and orange juice. The orange juice was amazing super fresh, natural, and sweet. The cinnamon roll was good (not the best I've ever had, but still enjoyable). The food overall was solid. The banana bread French toast was really good, the eggs were cooked well, and the biscuits and gravy were also very tasty. On the downside, one of the plates came out a little dirty, which wasn't great to see. Other than that, the place itself was clean, the staff was friendly, and the experience was enjoyable overall. We were given champagne at the entrance by the hostess for a toast, nice touch. We were escorted through the resturant and showed the restrooms as well as the display of steak choices. Another nice touch. We were seated and served water and asked about drink orders. We all stuck with water. The server, Amber was very helpful with explanations of the specials as well as individual steak options. We opted for the Tenderloin flight, a 4oz filet, a 4 oz prime and 5 oz wagya. Most of us enjoyed the filet best, then the prime and the wagya the least. Keep in mind the wagya was excellent but the other two cuts were enjoyed more. With the exception of my son in law, wagya was his favorite. All were tender and juicy and cooked to perfection, medium rare. We ordered a large wedge salad to share, romaine lettce, blue cheese, pecans, bacon, served with a hot bacon dressing. Not sure why it's called a wedge salad but it was very tasty, dressing made the salad. We ordered mashed potato pattis, that were good, suburb grit cakes that were like nothing I've ever had and everyones favorite side, the limas, in a cream sauce with country ham crisp, again not like anything I've ever had and again excellent and lastly the green that were seasoned to perfection and very tender. We were given a complimentary anniversary dessert, a crisp pecan shell with a white chocolate mousse, and a a berry compote. It was my husbands favorite. We ordered two additional desserts. The chocolate bread pudding with ice cream. My daughters favorite. And lastly the Rumchatta butter cake, a rich butter cake that was so moist but also crunchy on the edges. Mine and my son in law's favorite. Service was exceptional, never an empty water glass, plates cleared as soon as we finished a dish and all servers were super sweet, polite and accomodating. Large parking lot, so no problem parking. I would suggest walking around to see if there is one area more than another where you would prefer to sit. I did that at the end and would have rather been in one of the back rooms instead of the bar area, just a thought. Highly recommend.
