Fries fried in duck fat- yummy
    Roger R.

Well I'd classify this place as a dive bar in the sense of the word. It's definitely not 4 star noted and maybe not the best exclusive signage and overall 4 star appeal; but it a diamond in the rough, persa. This place is quaint, nice location (on a corner ) decent seating, not a big outdoor dining area, the bar is long and has the memories of the old day saloon. Now the food; terribly good! Menu isn't extensive but good items and variety that will satisfy anyone's appetite. It was Father's Day but as soon as it opened they were quickly filled with patrons and people kept coming; even waiting to get in. The fries in duck fat were awesome. Since so many baskets of fries like this for a long time. The smoked wings are great, meaty and savory. I had the pork belly tacos; my only disappointment was you only get 2 per order. The fine combination of ingredients were splendid and the pork belly so tender. My wife had the bbq pork sandwich on pretzel bun. Very good tasting and this was with no bbq sauce on it. If you're in the area, do yourself a a favor and stop in. I can't wait to go back ( as we live in southern Indiana) so might be a bit but definitely want to try a few other items.

As soon as I moved to the Louisville area and stated asking for restaurant recommendations, everyone would rave about Hammerheads. Hammerheads this, duck fat fries that. I was going to a UofL women's basketball game and I FINALLY was able to make it here. I went a little overboard on the food, but everything sounded so good! I really loved the pork belly slider and the duck tacos. Mac and cheese balls always slap. Then there are the famous duck fat fries. The portion is substantial, I was thrilled with that. Flavor wise they did not change my life like I was hoping they would. Still ate them all. The locale is super unassuming from the street, but inside it is really cool, divey, and broody. The staff was super sweet and helped me get in and out efficiently so I could make it to the game. Would absolutely recommend, would absolutely come back, and would absolutely bring friends here.

In town for work for the week and smoked wings are my favorite food. Quick yelp search has this place as on of the top smoked wings so had to try. The smoked wings over will very good, no small ones and good flavor but I have had better(8/10) still very solid. Also got a half rack of lamb ribs that were delicious (9/10). Overall I would come again as the food was good and ease of carryout process

I would have never found this place if it wasn't for a TikTok video, and I'm so glad I did! This restaurant is in a residential neighborhood and definitely has "hole in the wall vibes." We were there on a busy Friday night and had to wait for a table and awhile for the food but it was to be expected. Definitely get some of the fries-I had the Grippo fries, and pay the extra for the smoked mayo. I'll definitely be back.

It was an early Saturday evening, I called ahead to see if there was seating available and there was. We got there and were seated right away, service is slower here but the servers do a lot of different things so don't worry about service time. I got water to drink and my parents got a Diet Coke, water an a beer, they were hoping to have a Budweiser but settled for a PBR since it was an alternative. They didn't know you can ask for a taste of beers on tap & got them to try the lager and they liked that better. So got a pint of that. We ordered fried mushrooms for the table and those hand down were the best ones I have had in a while. The only thing would love that they would have a spicy ranch or horseradish sauce to go with it. I orders the roasted duck tacos, my parents got the potatoes salad, Mac & cheese, half rack of ribs and fish tacos and an order of garlic herb fries. The duck taco was delicious the jalapeño lime sauce was perfect addition. The ribs were my favorite, pulled apart and flavorful. I tried a bit of the Mac & cheese and potato salad and it was ok, we waited awhile for the fries but those were worth the wait! Like I said service is spotty but they did have a full house and it was to be expected. The staff was very nice and helpful and the food was good. It's definitely loud inside so if you're looking for a place for talking or romantic. This isn't it, it's more of a divey hangout place with good food.

Hammerheads is an amazing no frills restaurant with amazing food. The restaurant has a warm and relaxing atmosphere. There is seating at the bar and there is sit down tables as well. I had never tried catfish before and had the catfish tacos. They were delicious! I also enjoyed a margarita. The service was excellent! The staff were attentive and friendly and the food came out quickly. An all around amazing dining experience at very reasonable prices for how amazing the food is! Highly recommend!

Best fries I've ever had and a top tier burger in the 502. The brisket was unbelievable and this is one of my favorite restaurants now

Hammerheads is one of those locations you must experience to truly understand what a great thing they have. It's not what one might expect when you first walk in but the food does not disappoint! Great things happen in small spaces!

Roast duck taco and pork belly taco.

Came here since I saw several recommendations as it being a local spot and a favorite. I was not disappointed! I decided to go with a couple of tacos, although depending on what you want, you could get sliders with the same ingredients instead. I went with one duck taco and one pork belly taco. I haven't had a great experience with duck in the past as I've tried it with different Asian dishes. This time, I figured why not try it if it's smoked meat, and the way it was described by one of the bartenders was that it smoked for several hours, rested, then cooked for an additional time for that special flavor. Man, they were not wrong. The duck was delicious. The pork belly was delicious. I would definitely try it again and other plates if given the chance. If I'm ever in Kentucky again, I'll make sure to stop by. Do yourself a favor and make this pitstop if you're in the area, totally worth it!

This OG location has been around for a while and for good reason. Delicious smoked meats and upscale bar food. Small dive feel with tables, window, and bar seats available. Not the best for a big group but great for a few friends and awesome food!

Dive bar-ish place to grab some beers and some food! Food is not too bad but fave was the Fried Mushrooms- nicely fried and loved the shiitake. The Mac and Cheese balls were alright. Duck slider was pretty good, meat smoky and tender. The soft shell crab slider was better, well fried and tasty! Overall pretty good value and service was friendly, on point.

Solid! A little greasy/heavy but I liked it. 3.5, but closer to 3 than 4. In a cute, quiet part of the city.

    Ask the Community - Hammerheads

    Is it kid-friendly?

The environment does allow for kids to come. There is a bar on the right side but there are a dozen or so tables for dining purposes. I do not know about the food options if any for kids. Kid friendly items could include smoked wings / fries

Is it loud in the building?

Due to the small space-the sound is trapped. It is loud, and they do play music. After a few minutes-its not as noticeable.

    Do they take reservations?

No. Maybe for a large party, but this is a small place.

Does Hammerheads grind their own meats for burgers?

    Is there happy hour?

Nope, but you are happy every hour you are there.

    Do they have Take Out?

I saw people with take out

We were also entertained by subtle, unobtrusive live music provided by a trio who apparently perform nightly. I enjoyed a glass of Prosecco with the fried green tomato, crispy prosciutto, and goat cheese salad. Tomatoes were crunchy and tangy atop a tender bed of baby lettuce. My entree choice was So Difficult to choose among at least six varied choices -- pork chops, U-10 scallops, salmon, lobster ravioli, duck, etc. I finally selected the pecan-encrusted walu Hawaiian butterfish on a bed of sweet potato sage risotto. The fish was moist, flaky, and flavorful with a slight crunchy exterior. It was nestled in a delicious bed of risotto that had the unmistakable sage element. My dining companions enjoyed varied entree choices of salmon, scallops, and steak as well as a bruschetta appetizer, pistachio and goat cheese salads, and bread sticks. Each diner was generously praising their selections. Determined to return here soon to try so many unexplored menu items and enjoy the serene setting. Top notch.
