This review is for a special 5-course dinner event held at Red Yeti featuring Fischer Farms products. We started with a cocktail hour and then moved to the dining room for a phenomenal experience. Each course was delicious, unique, creative, and memorable. The products from Fischer Farms were special; however, Chef Bowe elevated each dish to the moon. Dining area was comfortable (with the exception of a high noise level likely due to the full house). Service was excellent, very attentive and unobtrusive. A+ Looking forward to future visits, including Sunday brunch and hoping for more special events.
The food is amazing. I had the fried chicken entree with braised kale and grits. 9.5/10. My wife had a brisket sandwich with salad and she absolutely loved it. They take their time with the food service so they can bring you perfection. Not for people who live life in the fast lane. Interior is all brick walls so the ambient noise from people talking can get a little loud. We would definitely come back!
Greeted instantly when we walked in and were seated right away without a reservation on a Sunday evening. Menu was full of delicious options, it was hard to narrow down between the brown butter swordfish, short ribs, burgers, steak, fried chicken. We ultimately ordered steak frites (medium rare) with an extra side of mac and cheese, and the fried chicken with cheddar grits and kale. Both dishes were huge, full of flavor, and cooked perfectly. The fries are hand cut like Penn Station style, and the Mac and cheese has a creamy alfredo style white cheese on it. The cheddar grits were excellent, and the breading on the chicken was crisp and drizzled with a light bit of sweet syrup - so good! We'll definitely be back, everything was phenomenal, including the service.
Evyn our lovely hostess and perfect server made sure everyone in our party received kind and friendly attention. The atmosphere is fun and the food was exquisite. Fried brussels sprouts out of this world and truffle fries with aioli just wonderful! The Shrimp and Grits I chose for my birthday entree was like no grits I've had before. Heavenly. 2 of our group raved about the Kentucky Hot Brown. The chef here is a semifinalist in the James Beard Foundation award and it's easy to see why. You want to come to The Red Yeti before New York whisks him away
There is a parking lot across the street from the restaurant. I was greeted quickly and sat at the bar. The bartender was attentive and answered questions I had. I ordered an old fashion mocktail, it was a great presentation but honestly it tasted like fall in a glass. I am not sure what I was expecting. It said zero proof bourbon so I expected a little more bourbon profile. I had the farro risotto on recommendation from the bartender. I added chicken for an extra $6 to add some protein The entree came out beautiful. The farro had a nice bite, it was creamy, and the mushrooms were really flavorful. My opinion is that the dish is overdressed. There was too much cheese and the kale chips were a bit salty which didn't compliment the deliciousness of the rest of the dish. Now I will tell you that the 2 guys sitting near me could not shut up about the fried chicken. Guess I should have gone with that!
Excellent food and cocktails. We had the brisket and steak salad. Both were wonderful. Melt in your mouth meats. Friendly servers and lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.
I don't know if the kitchen had an off day, bad luck, or what, but all semblance of quality was MIA. I ordered a Fried Chicken Sammie with grits as my side. The fried chicken was as dry as a flipflop. If there was any crispness to the meat's breading, the otherwise dry meat worked against it. The same is true for the rest of the sandwich. The veggies, sauce, and bread were all overshadowed by the disgrace the kitchen allowed to leave its doors. I wish I could say the grits fared better, but I cannot. Two issues here: first, the consistency wasn't very grits-y. Perhaps they use a coarser grind? The real undoing is that the salt level was very high. It seems as though they salted the grits as though plain, and then added a salty cheese. You may ask yourself if I wished I ordered fries, and I have to say no. I stole (with permission), a fry from my friend. Instead of something fresh, hot, and crisp, I found a limp, sad piece of oiled potato that seems like when I make my own pan fries, and re-heat them in the microwave. I did enjoy their vibe, it feels almost like a BBQ spot. There is plenty of brick, combined with wood and dark notes. As for the service, no complaints there. Final verdict: While some things I tried were worse than others, there was nothing that I would want to order again. Worse still, if I had leftovers, I would not ask for a doggy bag. With this, I would encourage you to seek out a different spot for a meal. I don't know if the kitchen had an off day, bad luck, or what, but any semblance of quality was MIA. Visiting family in Jeffersonville and they recommended The Red Yeti so we decided to give them a try! Unfortunately we got there at dinner time and we missed out on being able to order the Brisket Tacos . But all was not lost as I found cheese grits and truffle fries on the menu! Yes I know that doesn't sound like a "meal" but when you are on vacation you should be able to eat what you want! The waitress was friendly, attentive, and ensured all our questions about the menu were answered, along with giving us a recommendation for dessert. The decor in the restaurant was fun and I really loved the exposed brick. My cheese grits were full of flavor and cooked perfectly, just a wee bit on the salty side. I still gobbled those suckers down tho! The truffle fries with roasted garlic aioli were the star of the show and I see why so many people recommend them! And for the price we received a pile of fries so it was well worth it to me. My sweet tea was perfectly steeped and not overly sweet, which made this southern gal very happy. I had no room for dessert but our family insisted we split a slice of homemade cheesecake with caramel sauce and although I could only manage 3 bites it was phenomenal. I sure do wish I had room for more!!
It was a chilly Sunday night so we decided to go and sit at the bar and have a drink at the red yeti. Carly, the bartender was amazing. I decided to have the soup of the day which was potato bacon soup, which was fantastic.
4 stars. Service here was amazing!! Jessica took great care of us during our visit. We arrived too late for brunch - the cutoff is 1:45. So, we ate off the "transition menu" which is an abbreviated menu that allows them to flip over to the dinner menu. We enjoyed the truffle fries. The brisket sandwich was fantastic. The fried chicken was tasty, too. As for the sides... The grits were very savory. The braised kale was surprisingly good. It's almost like collard greens, but with the texture of turnips - very soft. The Mac n cheese was mushy and lacked flavor - I wouldn't order that again. It's a small spot, so I would call ahead to check the wait. There are only a few tables... and then there are even less when the buffet is out. There's a bar in the other side, but we didn't check it out. Maybe next time!
Once again I have dined at this restaurant. They never fail me in taste and flavor. I always get the same thing and it's consistently the same. I highly recommend. My only suggestion to the owner is the employees are not the most friendly and it takes away from the experience. The hostess was polite but busy at a table having a conversation. The waiter was nice but not very happy. being in the service industry employees should welcome and make the customer feel welcome. Possibly they had a rough day , I get it! I was up at 3 am California time not really wanting to come to Kentucky, but the thought of having these tacos made the trip less bearable. Very nice location, outdoor seating !
Had a delicious dinner at the Red Yeti tonight. We had experienced Chef Michael Bowe at Cooking at the Cottage previously and wanted to see his restaurant. His team is fantastic, the atmosphere is chic and his food is spectacular. I'd happily recommend to both friends and family.
One of our last stops in a 20-day road rip, including many restaurants and bars. This place was outstanding, very cool vibe, great service, and excellent food. If we ever drive through again, we will definitely stop in

This place was delicious. It has a casual pub atmosphere and nice outdoor seating. This place is supposed to be kind of farm to table, using a lot of local ingredients. They are known for their farro risotto, cauliflower, and shrimp and grits. Farro risotto - delicious, a bit heavy, very creamy and filling Shrimp and grits- a lot of flavor but more soupy than I'd like Cauliflower - so so so good!! Brisket - okay Brisket tacos - Delicious! Second favorite thing in the menu. Blackhawk burger - just okay Service is good, nothing over the top. read more

We sat outside on their small patio and had a great lunch! Our server was very nice and attentive. I got a beer called Fat Orange Cat Brew Baby Kittens. Cute name! It was a hazy IPA and had a fresh citrus taste. It was so refreshing on a warm day. There wasn't a lot of choices on their lunch menu, so I got the Fauxhawk Burger and hand cut fries. Burger was so fresh and tasted great! I really liked the tomato jam on it. Fries were also very good. read more

Red Yeti serves excellent food that's cooked to perfection. The fried chicken is packed with great flavor, and the grits might just be the best thing on the menu--honestly worth the visit alone. The short ribs had good flavor, though there wasn't much meat for the price. On the bright side, the fried cauliflower is hands down the best in town. It is a little on the pricey side, so bring your wallet--but you definitely pay for the quality and great food you get. read more

***WARNING **!!! Make sure to ask how much the brunch buffet is. Even though they have a sign taped in the window that says "Adults $24" the manager feels he reserves the right to increase the price to whatever he desires- WITHOUT NOTICE- as long as he calls it a "special brunch." Therefore, a brunch that is advertised as $24 per adult can magically become $38 per adult- WITHOUT ANY NOTIFICATION- on any day the manager considers a "holiday." Heck... it could be Lost Sock Memorial Day as long he tells you that it's a "special day"; he feels entitled to increase the price per person even though there was no indication that "Day After Derby" is considered a "special brunch" by this establishment. And, for those of you who do not live in the Louisville area: the day after derby is no more a "special occasion" or "holiday" than the day after Christmas. The manger apologized for the "miscommunication." I fail to see how a blatant lie can be misconstrued as a simple "miscommunication." This was blatant deception. Now on to the food: it is said that over salting food is the hallmark of a bad chef. If this is so, Red Yeti must have the worst chef in the Louisville area because it tastes like they brine all of their ingredients. Everything was so salty! Now on to execution: the "buffet" area is excruciatingly tiny as is their seating area. Expect to rub elbows. The thing that shocked me, though was how many times they ran out of plates and cutlery. Almost as if they have to wash it as soon as someone is done with it so they can keep rotating it. And whomever they have making omelettes and cutting meat must be the dishwasher because he was constantly missing from his station and returning with clean plates. Many people had to wait for him to cut their meat or make an omelette. In short, this writer will not be returning to this establishment. A fact they, no doubt relish. They seem to prefer to cater to those who will accept subpar service and are not smart enough to call them on their BS pricing. read more

The food is super pretty, and the portions are generous, but the general absence of seasoning means the food is short of delicious. A friend and I walked over the Big Four Bridge to arrive at Red Yeti just across the river. On a Tuesday at lunchtime, they had plentiful indoor and outdoor seating to offer. They hadn't cleaned the rain off of the outdoor seats, so my friend and I opted to while away some time indoors. For me, the beer cheese & baguette was the highlight of what we ordered. Crunchy bread and melty cheese made for a rich, textured snack. We also enjoyed some of the local beers they offered on tap. This food won't ruin your day, but it won't make it, either. read more

Y'all. I'm telling you - the new menu item of the season for Red Yeti is bomb. Better than mine (don't tell my husband), and worth the trip alone. Short rib. I know- I know - you are probably thinking, "what's the big deal?" Spoken from the heart of a Nebraska farm girl that has a side of beef in her freezer from home, this. Is. Amazing. I was initially disappointed to hear they only served it with carrots. My comfort food seeking self was yearning for creamy mash or corn pudding, but no. Upon first bite I wanted for NOTHING more than another bite. Am I still mad at them for getting rid of the lamb meatballs? Yes, and I'm not sure i will totally forgive them until I see them again- but they have greatly redeemed them selves with this. Hold on - I have more! The season cocktails - every single one of them looked delish. I chose the lumberjack, a complex, warm, appley concoction that warmed my weary soul. I intended on trying another with dinner but optioned for a glass of red wine. Beautiful clean bathrooms, staff that was charismatic and kind, even when I came an hour before close.... Only downside was the nonworking WiFi, which makes it hard for the working professional multitasking while dining. Will I be back? Yes. Would I be back weekly with the readdition of the lamb meatballs? A million yesses. read more

Killer lunch this afternoon in the bar, with Ashley! I started with an amazing vodka based cocktail with ginger in it. Delicious, wish I could remember what it was called! Then there was the truffle fries with garlic aioli and the brisket tacos. SO FREAKING DELICIOUS!!! Our server I think was the bartender and she was efficient and delightful. My friend also had the brisket tacos and macaroni and cheese. We left very full and very content! I'll def come back here! read more

Amazing time there! I really enjoyed their food. I had an appetizer with a group that we shared. We had truffle parmesan fries and beer/goat cheese with bread. It was so delicious! Then I ordered Brisket with fries. I was in a mood for Brisket. I do enjoy the overall. The service was good. I think the waitress was not used to a large crowd. There are no reservation tables. It is first come and first serve. But I love the overall of it. read more
