    Mimosa, Coffee, Brunch Menu
    Jessica M.

I have been to The Silver Dollar for dinner many times, but my husband and I recently went to try out their brunch! We brought our two dogs and sat on the outdoor covered patio. Our server was very friendly! I had a mimosa and my husband had a coffee. We started off with the Biscuit Basket that comes with apple butter, butter, and syrup. They were perfect Southern-style biscuits, and I loved the variety of things to eat them with. For our meals, we had the Huevos Rancheros, Chicken & Waffles, and the special of the day - Al Pastor Tacos. Everything was so delicious! While it was a warm day out, they had fans on the patio that really helped! The party lights and fun decor really set the mood even for brunch! We'll definitely be back for brunch again!

    $14 bourbon in a shot glass .

Really disappointed from what it used to be. I would take my out of town friends here but no more. Staff is still friendly but food is way overpriced and not good. Fried okra was still slimy, and interestingly, we didn't even order it (but had to pay). Someone at the table commented it looked interesting, server disappeared and 10 min later a runner shows up with it ! Umm, huh? They do have an extensive bourbon selection but they serve it in shot glasses. Go to bourbon's bistro for a real bourbon experience.

It's been a while since we visited Silver Dollar, I'm talking old ownership, pre-Covid long time ago. And let me tell you, it's obvious there's new ownership, new style, new menu and all for the better. The decor was giving a Bakersfield California vibe right in Louisville Kentucky. Visually appealing, honky Tonk with a small splash of humor. The day we went, was a sunny spring, I preferred indoor - we were sat at a super spacious booth. Menu is one page but they absolutely nailed it. He ordered a Hemingway. It came in a beautiful copper coupe with a dehydrated orange slice. Classy, cool with a kick. We started with the Mexican Hot Cheese dip. It's not your typical queso -- this had chilis, onions, garlic, jalapeños as toppings and it was delicious. It was accompanied by house made chips. The cheese though... Hubs had fried catfish with the Nashville Hot option and I had a Caesar salad with fried chicken. Fried Nashville hot catfish verdict - Very good, very spicy, very crispy. Caesar with chicken...I stole a crouton off the top, "that garlic crouton was amazing, I could eat those like a snack." The salad itself was divine. The dressing is light, you can taste the green chilis without the spicy kick. I could eat this salad every day! Of course we had to try the Mexican crème brûlée. Super creamy, chocolatey with spice custard with a delicate brûlée sugar on top, garnished with fresh strawberries. Same restaurant, new flavors better service, awesome experience.

We visited on a Friday night for dinner and throughly enjoyed ourselves. Our server was attentive and helpful. Our food was fantastic and came out exactly as we asked for. I loved the music and found out that all their music is played off of vinyl. Loved the old firehouse atmosphere. A great place to stop in Louisville.

The server was great and they fresh squeezed grapefruit for my mimosa, by request. The atmosphere is very bar-like and the food was basic but good.

We have always loved going to Silver Dollar over the years. There was a point post covid where things changed a little and now there's been a revamp on the menu so we wanted to check it out. There's more of a tex-mex vibe so that was a little bit of a change instead of the old honky tonk vibe it used to have. The food was good but I was a little disappointed a lot of the cocktails are no longer on the menu. We sat at the bar and the bartender was friendly and our food was brought to us pretty quickly. We will still continue to go, it's just not quite the same as it used to be.

We stopped in at the Silver Dollar as we explored Frankfort Avenue post dinner at a nearby establishment. Since it was only 8 PM on a Saturday, we weren't ready to call it a night and decided to do reconnaissance for a future visit. This place was hopping and we threaded our way through to find seating near the back, but it was worthwhile. The music was a mix of Bob Seger and Wanda Jackson (reminiscent of Patsy Cline) in block sets -- no complaints here! The building was a former firehouse and has exposed brick, high ceilings, and a large glass garage door on the front facade. The original fire pole is also still installed near the front of the restaurant, but can no longer be used and is boarded up top. Darn. We had a beer while we took it all in and this is a great place to people watch and chill. Bar staff were all quite friendly and nice -- I even met one that I would have been happy to take home! (Just kidding -- he ran too fast for me to catch him.) Also, I want to mention that this place smells divine. It reminded me of a pleasant smokehouse bacon-y perfume and one of the barkeeps informed me that it is the result of the pork belly they serve. Mmmm. We have a plan to return in the future to dine and imbibe. I'll be logging miles at the track in the meantime. :)

Pappy Van Winkle flight - once in lifetime experience!

A casual no-frills tavern with amazing selection of bourbon. My buddy and I came for a flight of the hard-to-find and expensive Pappy Van Winkle. I called around and Silver Dollar was one of few with entire family: 10, 12, 13 (rye), 15, 20 and 23 year. We samples all but the 20yr as it and 23 yr were super expensive. We split a 1.5oz pour between two 3/4 oz pours. It was a once in a lifetime experience! My favorite was the 15yr, if you want to save money on the older years. The food was good. I enjoyed steak with seasoned fries. It is higher end of standard tavern fare. The bourbon selection is the real gem here.

What a great spot for food and bourbon. Rustic feel and very foodie choice of dishes. Staff was very helpful and efficient. They have a nice back patio as well. Some parking but it's right next to a residential neighborhood so ride share is best. Really enjoyed the experience and you should as well.

Traveling for work and my team wanted to go grab dinner. They've been with the company for years so make regular trips to Louisville, so they know the area. I'm only three months in and it's my first trip to the area. Dinner as a team and they picked The Silver Dollar. This is a neighborhood bar with a southern-inspired menu with some Mexican twists. We all ordered beverages...beers for my colleagues and a margarita for me. The margarita was pretty basic with not salt, no lime (until I asked for one). The mix was okay but it needed the hit of lime acidity. With the lime it was decent. For appetizers we got fried pickles and Brussels sprouts. The Brussels sprouts were really good and the pickles were as advertised. For entrees we got a variety...pulled pork sandwich with no bun, shrimp and grits, catfish sandwich and taquitos for me. Everyone really enjoyed their meals. For me the taquitos had a really good filling and the salad was a nice counterpoint for the fried taquitos.

The Silver Dollar is BACK! The restaurant is under new management/ownership and since I personally know one of the owners, I was invited last night to their friends and family night! The restaurant still has some of its iconic items such as strung Christmas lights, a wall full of bourbon (since it's a hot bourbon spot), the garage door, chicken & waffles, and their outdoor patio (but with a face lift)! A few new touches is a revamped menu, no more condiment/silverware baskets on the tables, and refinished tables made from Stitzel-Weller rickhouse wood! At our table we had chips/salsa, chimichurri steak frites, salmon, shrimp & grits, avocado salad, and brussel sprouts! All tasty, especially those brussels and the shrimp & grits which were made with smoked gouda and pimento cheddar. A couple bourbon connoisseurs with us had the Old Fashion and raved about it! They also chose to taste several pours selected from the massive book of bourbon? My Kentucky Mule was good too... packed with crushed ice and just the right amount of bourbon to ginger beer! My only compliant to it would be the paper straw. Sodas are served in the can. They are currently operating on a limited schedule due to still trying to complete their staff and keep in mind that the staff is new so offer some grace... but get out there and give the refreshed Dollar a go!

Fun place to go for dinner and drinks. They change the vinyls playing behind the bar as you enjoy your meal. Typical bar food, fun date night option.

I ordered the appetizer Spicy Fried Oysters served over grits as my entree. The 6-7 oysters were fried perfectly crispy, not too spicy, and the creamy parmesan grits were a nice accompaniment. This appetizer really was the right entree portion for me.

My group of four decided to wrap up our epic Bourbon Trail weekend at Michter's Fort Nelson Distillery right before heading to the airport. Having already hit six other distilleries over the weekend, we were completely "toured out" and opted to bypass the standard distillery tour. Instead, we headed straight upstairs to the bar and it was the best decision. We happened to visit right at the start of Derby week, so the entire building was alive and buzzing. Because of the festivities, they were highlighting their own rendition of the Derby fan favorite Mint Julep. I had to get one, and it did not disappoint. It was well crafted, perfectly balanced, and served in the classic, frost chilled sterling silver cup. Easily one of the best Juleps I've ever had. The bar area itself is beautifully appointed, sitting on one of the top floors of the historic building with a great atmosphere. A massive bonus: they offer patrons free bar snacks. The seasoned corn nuts were an absolute hit at our table, to the point where we had to ask for seconds (and they happily obliged!). Service was fantastic from start to finish. Despite the Derby week crowds, our water glasses were never empty and the cocktails came out incredibly fast. Whether you are doing a full day of tours or just want a world class drink in a stunning setting, Michter's is a phenomenal addition to any Louisville itinerary.
