Well who would have thought that with all the great eateries in Louisville we would eat at the same place two nights in a roll. Tuesday night there were only five of us but tonight there were fourteen of us. Steak and Bourbon was the only place we called that would take a reservation this large so we repeated. We actually got the same waiter which was great as he did a great job. Yep we had to have the Kentucky Samurai's again. Tonight I had the tomahawk with a couple of others. We had the oysters, meatballs and a number of other appetizers. Yes I had the Lobster Bisque again and it was as delicious as last night. Due to the number of us we aite at a long table so didn't get the round table with the huge cushy tables. Neat place and the live saxophone was great.
Pros: Outstanding filet cooked perfectly medium-rare Loved the rolls with tallow candle Excellent service Loved the au gratin potatoes Delicious Caesar salad - the dressing was perfect Cons: Way too dark inside; I could barely read the small print menu Wish they had a smaller ribeye. The smallest size is 24 ounces unless you want medallions with other cuts Pro tip: Love this location cause it is in the burbs versus driving downtown. Make a reservation here!
Man oh man, what an experience. My wife retired and we were treated to dinner at Steak & Bourbon. The bread with a butter candle! Exquisite! We had appetizers of Deviled Egg with crab meat. It was so so! Spinach artichoke dip was good, not great. Everything that followed the appetizers were a 6 out of 5! Filet trio, thick cut ribeye, pan roasted chicken, potato Au gratin, beef short rib pot roast, 7oz filet, Caramelized Brussels sprouts, creme corn brulee, cheesy potatoes, classic American cheeseburger, pan roasted chicken, and oh my THE SWEET POTATO! OMG! It was outstanding! Our server was so nice and helpful and was just as patient as can be since we had never eaten there. The place was a little dark, as you may tell from the pics, but it was an elegant feel even most were dressed casually. Definitely go back!
I've eaten at a lot of steakhouses. This might be the best Steakhouse I have ever experienced. I ordered the 10 ounce fillet and, honestly, I felt like it was better than the fillet I had at Ruth's Chris last month. It was amazingly tender and had an exquisite crust. I also had a loaded sweet potato for the side and it was perfection. I had two cocktails and both were also awesome. The service was top-notch too. If you are willing to spend a good chunk of change for a premium meal, then I I highly recommend Steak & Bourbon. Since it's also not located in the downtown area, there are lots of other pros for this location. Parking was a breeze and free. It's located in a trendy little shopping center. If you want to do a little stroll shopping before or after dinner. I do recommend you get your reservations a day or two in advance so that you can get the time that you want. Best steak I have had in the Louisville area so far. However, go in knowing that you're going to be spending $100 per person minimum. That's especially true if you're planning to get cocktails. If you splurge, it would be easy to spend a couple hundred dollars per person.
Great place to go for special events! I decided to make reservations for my mom's birthday and the staff was very nice and accommodating for us as we celebrated a special occasion. It was very nice and dim inside the restaurant and we lovedddddd the live jazz music, we could have listened to him play all night. Then the food was so good! I didn't think the bread was all that special, but having a candle of butter melt around it was neat. I ordered the short rib pot roast and it was so delicious, but adding the creme corn brûlée to it (at the recommendation of our waiter) took it to the next level.
My friend had their birthday party at Steak & Bourbon, two things we both love to eat. The place is very dark but I feel like a lot of steak houses here are. This day they had a live saxophonist I don't know it that's a typical thing. It didn't ruin the conversation we were still able to talk and not have to yell over the music. Also the saxophonist was playing some great tunes! The service was great, myself and my friend's guest arrived before the birthday girl and the rest of the birthday guests but the host seated us and the server was nice enough to still take our drink and appetizer orders and checked on us serval times. I am severely lactose intolerant and I let the server know that when I placed my order as most of the steaks were finished in an herbed butter so I request led mine without it. I ordered the steak and frites without the butter and without the gravy that they had with it. My steak was cooked to a beautiful medium rare and I upon first bite I don't think it would have needed the butter! The steak was buttery feeling in my mouth, tasteful and juicy. I also had chimichurri sauce and steak fries but they weren't overly impressive. Everyone else enjoyed the free biscuits with butter I was advised that they were good. They also spoilt the birthday girl's cake, which was delicious according to those that were able to partake. My only complaint would be that the pricing is expensive for the food and drinks but I also know that the price points for similar restaurants are about the same. Overall it was a great experience for a once a year type thing!
My husband and I are still talking about this Caesar salad a month later. Sat at the bar and enjoyed speedy service. The vegetarian entree (quinoa based, so plenty of protein) was hearty, and I had leftovers that reheated well. My husband opted for the filet & mushrooms and loved both. The complimentary bread w beef tallow candle was a fun touch (though I didn't try any of it). Do not skip the salad!

I've been to this location a few times and never disappointed. Perfect vibe and ambiance for date night! The service is always excellent. The food never misses. That scampi is something else and the steaks are always super tasty and moist. Will always go back anytime I can! They tend to always be busy but doesn't affect the flow. Parking is limited so drop your ladies off at the door fellas if you have to park further around the pavilion. Make sure to get a photo op somewhere in the many photogenic spaces depending on where you're seated!
Wow what an amazing meal. Only in town for one night and clearly made the right choice, got to try the Crab Cake app, Filet and the Pork Chop. Truly not sure which one is best. Fantastic steak house service and a very cozy inside. High class all around
I ate here a couple of nights ago and I was really in the mood for a great burger, because I'm a burger girl after all. I decided to order my burger with just onions, mushrooms and asked for bearnaise on the side. Oh my gosh, if heaven had a kitchen it would be at Steak and Bourbon!!! This was hands down the absolute best burger I have had in my entire 55 years!! It was juicy, fresh, full of amazing flavor and the bun had the perfect consistency, not too hard or too soft, it never fell apart! ! The onions I could have eaten by themselves, that's how delicious they were. If you want a regular burger go anywhere else but if you want exceptional and the best burger of your entire life and the most heavenly burger on earth, eat at Steak and Bourbon! It was so amazing I could hardly speak... days later I'm still thinking about it and I'm already planning to go back!! If I could give them 10 stars I absolutely would! Thank you Steak and Bourbon this was a grand slam!!
The ambience is very nice, low lighting with rich reds. It has an open kitchen concept. Casual dining. Before I begin, I just went to Jeff Ruby's and that's a high bar to beat or in Steak and Bourbon's case to meet. Beginning with the spinach artichoke dip was mediocre. The bread is served with an "edible" candle made of tallow and garlic. Fun to look at, but the bread absorbs the grease it's sitting in and just drips grease. The steaks are also mediocre. I LOVE a good steak. These were just ok. The mashed potatoes are just ok. The Brussels sprouts are ok. The au poivre sauce is a brown sauce lacking any flavor. The chocolate cake is the star. Unfortunately, they ran out of vanilla ice cream and put coffee ice cream on it. The coffee ice cream is overpowering and competes -not compliments - with the rich flavor of the cake. How can a restaurant run out of the most basic of ice cream flavors? I'm certain there is a grocery store nearby. Improvise. This restaurant needs to step up. Maybe, the burgers are better?
If you're in Louisville, don't skip Steak & Bourbon. As busy as it is, it's busy for a reason, this place is top tier. You'll be hard-pressed to find a better steak anywhere. The service was outstanding, and my wife and I had an amazing time. Seriously, make a reservation now. Don't wait. You'll thank me later. SO DAMN GOOD.

The last steak and bourbon dinner I had was at my father's birthday dinner back in March. The service was incredible per usual and the food did not disappoint. I had a salad and my family members had steak and shrimp that was in essence a reflection of the wholesome nature that steak and bourbon provides you with. We usually try to go to the one downtown but this time we went to the one on the east side for the sake of the reservation. The saxophone player was very talented. Which, made me leave him a cash tip as I love jazz. It is fair to say, that we had a phenomenal experience based on how well we were treated by our server who was a recent transplant from out of state and even the U.S. as she shared her story with us which was very much so moving and compelling. We always have a wonderful time at steak and bourbon together as a family. But, I personally will have to point out that my favorite part of the whole dinner is the live music and the wonderful ambiance that in a way, fosters excitement, and intimacy if the right person or people happen to join you during such a special environment. read more

First off, the interior of the place is nicely made, I love the look of it & I feel fancy. The waiters are all nicely dressed & had multiple ones attending to us, dropping off foods, picking up plates, topping water, & making sure we were doing okay, which we were great!! We came for my partners bday dinner & we definitely want to go back & have already been recommending it to others!! For apps, I ordered lobster bisque & he ordered French onion soup & we both agreed the quality is the best we've had in Louisville, he even went as far to claim it's the best he's had in Louisville. So delicious!! We both weren't fans of the candle bread, sure it's intriguing & unique but it was too oily, bland, & salty to really enjoy. For entrees I had the NY strip which was made med rare exactly how I enjoy it along with their homemade steak sauce but be wary the charge $2 for it!!! My side was the shepherds pie & I was extremely full & couldn't finish anything the soups were filling!! My partner ordered ribeye and omg it was amazing, sooooo juicy & yummy full of flavors I wish I had gotten it, thankfully he shared. He ordered side of parm broccoli & they're very generous with the cheese that he even had to scrap some off. We had to order the complimentary multi layered dessert to go because we were toooooo full!! Everything was worth the money well spent & I paired mine with extra dirty martini & both my partner & I claim it's one of the best we've had! This place is def worth the hype & we should've gone here sooner!!! I want to check out their downtown location as well, but it's also nice to shop around the Westport area. This spot I would absolutely rate as 100/10 if I could! From the ambiance (nice shelves with books on Meat and Bourbon), the excellent staff (From the hostess, to our waiter, I couldn't have asked for a better experience); Finally the amazing drinks and extremely delectable food choices were the cherry on top. The music was a perfect mix of jazz, and classic pop that sets the tone. This was my birthday dinner, and I don't think I could have went to another spot and had the great experience I just had! read more

Good and service was exceptionally good. I had the chicken and upgraded my sides. Four to our party and all were satisfied. Our waiter and their demonstrations on various meals were point on. That bread melted in your mouth. For dessert we had the bread pudding and the details of what to expect from the presentation was indescribable...didn't expect what I saw and was totally wowed and it was good! read more

Amazing food. A little expensive but totally worth it. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable, I have never had a bad server. The music is bit loud when they have a live music but normally it is a cozy spot. read more
Oh my gosh!! I was so thoroughly impressed. The environment is so amazing. It's dark with lights on the table. It makes it even more intimate. The service is great and very fast. The food is absolutely incredible. I ordered the pot roast and it was the best I've ever had. I cannot wait to go back here. read more

This was the best meal I've had in a while! I tried three bourbons that I've never had and the Weller Special Reserve was my favorite. The bread they brought out was neat, it had a little "candle" in the middle that was actually made of butter and the "wick" was made of soy. We ordered way too much food so we could take home leftovers. I had the filet Oscar style and it was wonderful, my wife also had a filet which she really enjoyed. We split the Lobster Mac & Cheese and the Brussels Sprouts which were both good, not great. Our Waiter was awesome and did a great job which only made the experience more enjoyable. read more
I have only been here a couple of times but may I say each dinning experience was excellent. It starts with fresh bread served with a beef tallow candle as it melted you soak up the flavor. If you are truly hungry do what my grandson did order the cowboy ribeye 28 oz of pure delicious beef. My daughter found the beef short rib pot roast amazing and I gave in to the one pound ribeye. May I say a side dish is served with steak I payed the upcharge for sailor pie which is like a shepherd pie but with lobster as the main ingredient you won't be disappointed.Looking forward to coming back soon. read more

It's seldom that a restaurant clicks all of the buttons for me, but this one did! Decor- upscale and tasteful- check; Service -impeccable - attentive but not bothersome- check; Food - OMG!!! - check My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed a special meal last evening. I had the 12-oz ribeye with caramelized Brussels sprouts. Before I get to those, let me mention the circle of rolls that came with a tallow butter candle burning in the center. That butter (and the herbs below it) seeped into those rolls and that literally became a party in my mouth. On the the steak. The steak was melt-in-your mouth tender and cooked to perfection. The caramelized Brussels sprouts were by far the best I have had in Louisville . They were loaded with maple bacon chips, candied pecans and a delicious balsamic dressing. I can't say enough about this dining experience. We will certainly be back. The establishment is located off Westport Rd on Herr Lane and there is plenty of dedicated parking. read more

Another great experience at Steak and Bourbon! I think this is my favorite steakhouse in Louisville. Had a great night here with friends! You absolute have to get the lobster bisque. The wedge salad is the so massive, get the half. Our server Patrick was great! read more
Went to Steak and Bourbon for my sister in laws birthday. This place was amazing! Atmosphere When you walk in to this restaurant you'll notice the lights are some what deemed. I love this about restaurants that do this because it sets the atmosphere, tone and vibes! Customer Service The customer service was great. Our waitress at the one was friendly. I have nothing bad to say about it. Food But when it comes to the food! Let me tell you. The food I ordered was the Crab burger! But I like to call it. THE CRABBY PATTY! I was so impressed by the presentation and structural integrity of this burger I had to stop and take several pictures of it with different angles! I absolutely loved it! read more
Had incredible service here from Patrick. He went above and beyond and was so patient and kind with our large group this evening. This was a great location for a celebratory dinner and we had a great time with our group. Our food and drinks were delivered in a timely manner and Patrick made great recommendations for food and drinks. The lobster bisque was great as well as the Caesar salad. I've noticed this place ever since Artesano's closed down, but never had the chance to go. The space is much darker but kind of loud with people talking. They did have a live performer playing the sax. So cool! He played a lot of throwbacks. It's the kind of place where you'd need a reservation. It's very busy and it was also tough to find parking right by the building! Once we got seated, my friend ordered the seasonal fall drink that's like a sangria with fall spices. I got a mixed drink with bourbon that was refreshing and light. We shared bread rolls with brown butter. Tiny but I'm assuming they're caloric because no restaurant is whetting your appetite with a 100-calorie snack. LOL For the food, I tried the Gouda burger and opted for the truffle fries. It was an up charge for the truffle but worth it! The aioli complemented it well and the fries had a perfect crunch. The burger was lackluster. My friend told me she looooovvves the burger so I had to try it. Not the best. For all the things they said were in it, it wasn't that flavorful. My friend got the roasted chicken and added a side of the potatoes. It's one of her favorite dishes. We had to leave since my friend was headed to a haunted house, but she got a free dessert for her bday! Wonderful staff here. Really personable and nice folks. read more

They are open on Sundays. Today is Sunday and we have a reservation at 5pm. I don't know why someone would say they aren't.
