Despite the late hour, I was glad I had gotten reservations for our high top seats at the bar. We were promptly greeted with drink and food menus. I was in the mood for a mocktail, and the staff said they could make just about anything. When I asked about the old fashioned, they warmed me that the brand of faux bourbon they use has a taste that is distinctly not bourbon-ish. They let me sample a bit, and I'm glad they did. I decided instead to go with their mocktail of the Sinfluencer and an order of the Argentine Shrimp. The shrimp came with 12 prawns and two different sauces. It was a great little snack while we caught up. I continued my mocktail magic with the Gold Rush, which I liked even better than the Sinfluencer. My friend ended the night with a flight size scoop of their homemade ice cream. I didn't, and wish that I had. I guess it's just a reason to go back soon to try something new!

I had a salad and my family members had steak and shrimp that was in essence a reflection of the wholesome nature that steak and bourbon provides you with. We usually try to go to the one downtown but this time we went to the one on the east side for the sake of the reservation. The saxophone player was very talented. Which, made me leave him a cash tip as I love jazz. It is fair to say, that we had a phenomenal experience based on how well we were treated by our server who was a recent transplant from out of state and even the U.S. as she shared her story with us which was very much so moving and compelling. We always have a wonderful time at steak and bourbon together as a family. But, I personally will have to point out that my favorite part of the whole dinner is the live music and the wonderful ambiance that in a way, fosters excitement, and intimacy if the right person or people happen to join you during such a special environment.

My wife had the chicken sandwich which was definitely too large but she really enjoyed it. We started with their pretzel appetizer which came with a couple of dipping sauces and was really tasty. We came during lunch time with our child and they were more than accommodating. The booths are big with plenty of seating, there are couches if you prefer and then the bar area. They DO have a kids menu but it's not actually in the physical menu, you just need to ask. The drinks were great and the burgers (think it was called the double stack) were really really good! I liked the fries as well, though the burger stole the show. The chicken tenders (that we got for our kid) were also really good with a nice moistness and breading. Possibly the only spot in the bar that has proper doors. We each had a cocktail and got plenty of small bites. I got the Faraway Towns cocktail which was really yummy. We sat at the bar to enjoy a cocktail & an order of Herb Arancini. Before 5pm they offer the Herb Arancini as a full order. After 5pm they are served as an amuse bouche/aperitivo combo. If you want more than one delicious Herb Arancini gotta order before 5pm. The Herb Arancini was everything I wanted it to be on Friday. There were plenty of barkeeps to keep us filled with spirits or otherwise without smothering a patron or group. So the pacing is up to you which provides a dangerous proposition (potentially). Proof shows they are worth a visit even if just for the experience of the bar. Make your way to the dining room and you have a whole different vibe. The overall feel is a white tablecloth experience with staff and menus to match. We split the octopus which is both tough to do and was handled with a deft hand. We also got the rainbow trout and paccheri alla vodka and REALLY enjoyed those meals. The trout was paired with appropriate sides and handled in such a way where it really stood out as a plate. The pasta was fresh, had just an amount of bite to it, and the sauce was indeed heavenly smooth and spiced. Service was great and paced out for the evening, so we experienced a great evening as would be expected from such a place. Clearly they're slow roasted, blended, and then topped with pecans, toasted marshmallows, and some kind of crunchy corn flake magic. Disappointing Experience for the Price…read more I was really disappointed with my experience at Repeal Steakhouse. I sat at the bar for dinner, and it took quite a while for someone to come over and ask me what I wanted to order. The French onion soup was just okay, but the homemade bread was extremely dry and stale. It honestly tasted like a roll that had been sitting out for a couple of days. The service was even more disappointing. A gentleman sat down at the bar after me, placed his order, and managed to receive his salad, steak, and side dish before I even received my steak. Eventually, someone came over to check on me, and I had to ask where my food was. When my steak finally arrived, a woman sitting next to me -- who appeared to be affiliated with the restaurant -- had to point out that I hadn't even been given silverware. Unfortunately, the experience didn't improve when it came time to pay. After spending over $100 on dinner for one, my check was essentially dropped in front of me without a thank-you or any acknowledgment of my visit. When my credit card was returned, it was placed in front of me just as casually, again without a word. At a restaurant at this price point, I expect more than just a meal. I expect attentive service, food that reflects the quality the restaurant is charging for, and basic courtesy. Sadly, none of those things came together during my visit. Louisville has plenty of dining options, and this experience did not live up to what I expected from a steakhouse of this caliber. For the price, I left feeling overlooked and genuinely disappointed.

Asked for some water during our 2nd round, the bartender said he hadn't filled the water container up yet and he never did either. Bar is a good size and definitely not a dive and very comfortable with indoor and outdoor seating.
